i too loved this coffee pot— for a few months. it made great coffee, faster than most pots. it looked very cool sitting on my counter. i didn’t have pot long enough to descale more than twice(the “needs descaling” light came on) then one morning my pot made coffee without using all the water. the next day it would not come on at all. it is true,this is a terrible waste of money, even at “bargain price” beware !

This coffee maker is not only unique looking, it’s designed with functionality in mind. The two different chambers for water and grounds makes sure neither one gets in the wrong place! The coffee tastes great, too. The carafe will not leak no matter how sleepy we are while pouring. It is extra wide and takes up more counter space but that’s not a problem for us. It would have gotten a five star rating except we have to pull it forward from under the counter instead of our other Delonghi which was a front loader. Otherwise, the DCM900 is very attractive, makes really good coffee – what more would you want?

I know…I know…the life span on this unit is likely to be a year or so. However, it is so beautiful in my office. It sits atop my microwave, brews my coffee quick, hot and delicious. Looks, temperature, and speed on the three biggies with coffeemakers. I hope I beat the odds and get more than the 12-months or so reviewers here say I will…if not, I’ll be placing another order. It’s worth it!
UPDATE: So, I was one of the blessed ones. I just kept using the unit, and it kept working well. So, I stand by my rating. On the other hand, I found that the carafe does not withstand a five foot drop onto a concrete floor. So…if any of you who have had poor luck with the unit saved your carafe…I’ll buy it from you, cause I’d rather replace the carafe than the whole unit.
