   I LOVE the looks of the Stelton. I have a couple other pour over coffee makers, and this will be the one I get out for company. The ceramic material of the base is thick enough to keep the coffee warm for a little while, but its thermal qualities aren’t as good as a double walled presspot (Like a Frieling). But that’s a nit. So is the fact that the rubber grip isn’t quite thick enough to keep you from moving quickly once you grab the caraffe, after it’ full of hot coffee. Not that you’d get a burn, but it DO get toasty! I think the instructions call for a #2 paper filter, but in reality – a #2 doesn’t fit well…and a regular drip coffee maker filter fits better. (Yah, another nit) Last nit… The wooden “stopper” thing is mostly for looks. It doesn’t seal anything, and even when you turn the flat part of the stopper toward the back of the caraffe to keep the heat in…there is a pretty significant gap that steam still comes out of…probably allowing the coffee to get cooler, faster than it needs to.

   Beautiful coffee maker, horrible shipping.
   The 1st coffee maker shipped arrived broken, I thought it was a fluke so decided to return it and get a replacement instead of a refund. The replacement one arrived broken as well! I returned it for a refund.

   I love the design of the Stelton. But it ends there. I was eager to try my new pour over. I have 5-6 different coffee makers, Presses, Aero Press (still the best all around), Chemex etc. The Stelton arrived with no filters. So a few quick searches and I found #2 filters to be suggested. NOPE, those don’t fit. I will try another type but my guess is this goes straight back. How can any design company be so short sighted in the functional execution? Isn’t this the goal? Form and function together. Well this misses the mark significantly.

   Stick to the others.

   Coffee/filter doesn’t sit securely atop carafe. Also, carafe cracked after a couple of months of limited use. It’s beautiful to look at, but suffers from several design flaws.
