I was absolutely thrilled with this bean cooler… BUT it’s been 7 months and it just died today.
It has been sounding like it is weighed down for the last 2 months. I’m just bummed with the short life span. I only use it 2-3 x week for 2 8oz batches.

I bought this little runt of a bean cooler thinking I’d just get the minimum cooling out of it, but that’s ok, it wasn’t very expensive etc.
Wow, this thing works AWESOME. It collects the chaff on a very vine screen and come with a little brush so you can sweep the screen once or twice to keep the fan at full capacity. At 180 degree bean roast, those of you who roast coffee beans know that they retain their heat.
BUT not with this little bad boy. It cools 180 degree beans in less than 5 minutes. Will be buying this for Christmas for friends that roast coffee beans. It’s well worth the money and looks great in the kitchen.

Died about 6 months after purchasing. Fan fell off. Made a grinding noise. THen popped the breaker. So it’s officially dead. no way to get in touch with anyone to try to warranty it.

Did the job but just died 2 years after purchase. Roasting 1-2 times per week

I use a “stir-crazy” style roaster. It’s one of those white coffee roasters with a glass lid. I was cooling and manually sifting/removing chaff with a 1/4″ soil screen. I’ve been doing this method for some time, but after reading up on roasting it’s important to cool your beans quickly to keep the roast where you want it. The Boicafe is like several others, but it was a little cheaper and I gave it a shot. I love it! It’s amazing how quickly it cools the beans. It also does an excellent job removing chaff. To get rid of the collected chaff after cooling, I have a dustbuster type vacuum that cleans up the bean cooler completely with no hassle. I highly recommend this bean cooler for home roasters. My roasts have never tasted better.

I’ve been home roasting in a Behmor for about 7 yrs. As a previous reviewer posted, cooling in the drum is not rapid enough to cool the beans to a “hand touchable” temp in the desired 3-4 minutes. I have always removed the beans and allowed the roaster to continue its cooling cycle while I pour the beans back and forth between 2 colanders to dechaff and cool and then set the colander on a small box fan. I.e. a PIA. This device is clever, compact and really does a great job of collecting the chaff in a screen underneath and rapidly cooling the beans. It appears well built, so if it holds up it was $40 well spent.
Edit: Appearances can be deceiving. The fan blades are tilted and are hitting the screen. Great while it lasted. It was used for about 12 roast batches in the past 3 months.

Basically, it’s a pretty simple device and it works like a charm.

I’ve been roasting on the Behmor 2000AB for a few months, but I haven’t been happy with the internal cooling process. It takes the full 13 minutes to get the beans down to room temperature because it also has to cool the entire unit down from 320 F. After a recommendation in an online roasting group, I purchased this product. I was apprehensive about the lack of reviews, but I didn’t want to spend more than $40 for a cooler. I’m happy to say this bean cooler meets its promise of cooling and separating chaff from a pound of beans in under a minute. 100% recommended. Time will tell how long it lasts, but the frame at least is quite durable.
