I went all in when I purchased a Breville Oracle Touch espresso machine about a year ago. I decided to roast my own beans, too (because I can get carried away when I start a new hobby). I bought an air roaster, which works great, but even after running the cooling cycle, the beans are far from cool. I’d been tossing them in a wire deep fryer basket to cool them and blow off the chaff, but it’s time consuming. When I spotted this, I jumped on it. It has an inner filter basket with a super fine stainless mesh screen, and an outer filter basket with a wider mesh screen, which is large enough for the chaff to pass through, but works great to keep the beans where they belong, even the smaller peaberry beans.
Once you finish roasting, you just dump the contents into the upper tray and flip the power switch. A fan pulls air through the beans and expels it at the bottom. Chaff is also pulled through, if you massage the beans a bit with your fingers while it’s in operation. When done, you just tap the bottom filter screen over the trash, and done.

I really like this because it’s reassuring to know this will definitely end your roast rather quickly as the beans cool down in just over a minute. The chaff collection works well. I roast 8oz of green beans and once roasted it’s just the right amount for the cooling rack. I wouldn’t want to go much more than that. I’m really pleased with this. I hope it lasts.

I recently got into roasting my own coffee and am doing a lot of smaller batches finding my way. This item came available to me via the coffeemakers.us.com Vine program so I decided to give it a try. It arrived promptly and was well packaged to protect it from damage. When I opened it, there was no documentation inside the box. At first I was mildly alarmed but that turned out to be of no concern. It’s basically a fan, with an on-off switch on the cord, that sits on a flat surface and blows vertically with a couple of screens that resemble aluminum cake pans. I didn’t need directions to figure it out. Take it out of the box and have it ready before you start roasting. Complete your roast and move your beans to the cooler. Flip on the switch and let it do its job. It will become more and more useful as I gain experience and begin doing bigger batches. I don’t have any issues recommending this. I will update if I have any issues in the future
