I plan to make coffee in this Raslok South Indian Coffee Maker and have watched some videos on YouTube. However, I wanted to make Yerba Mate today and I don’t have a gourd so I thought I could use this. I put the leaves in the bottom part and then poured in the water and let it steep for two minutes before pouring the liquid into the top strainer which I had over a glass. It worked perfectly. Since I don’t plan to have South Indian coffee as my normal morning brew, it’s nice to have a device I can use for other things as well. It basically served as a vessel for brewing and straining and I imagine it could be used for any loose leaf tea.
While it says it’s enough for 8 cups, that is basically to make a coffee concentrate that you then dilute with milk. As a tea or Yerba Mate maker it is really just a single serving. It’s a nice size for travel and it’s made of lightweight stainless steel.
