It used to be just a plain old glass coffee pot now with the colored handle it’s functional art.

If you want a pourover coffee maker, this is the best. It’s easy to use and it takes a fairly coarse grind, which means the water goes through fairly quickly. The filters remove the cholesterol-heightening oils and the bitterness and leave you with coffee that’s clean and bright and flavorful. This is not the mudlike thick brew you get with a French press with its traces of sediment. If that’s your jam, skip the pourover. But if you prefer a healthier, bright, fresh cup of java the Chemex is as good as it gets and better, in my view, than its competitors including Hario, which I threw out after using Chemex

I been using the wood collar Chemex for 15 year and ther are fantastic. Well my last one broke so I decided to try the handled version. I actually really like it! I had to take a star off because there are several blemishes in the glass. They are not super noticable but they look bad and make me wonder how long this will hold up. Overall I like the handle better than the collar.

The wooden collar one I have at work is beautiful, but this glass handle one is easily ran through the dishwasher at home occasionally to keep it clean. Chemex is the way to go for easy cleanup (with paper filters) coming from a french press.
