The slower you drip, the stronger (and better imo) the coffee. Very much worth the purchase!

This cold brew coffee make is not for the impatient or inattentive. If you’re looking for something that will steep you a pot of cold brewed coffee in a few minutes, you will 100% be disappointed.
Instead, this beautifully crafted coffee maker is not only a conversation piece, it also makes a rich and flavorful cold brew with a little attention and effort.
The build of the maker is quality all around – delicate yet well-formed borosilicate glass, a stainless-steel frame and cone filter, all metal valve, and a complimentary wooden base. Assembling the unit is easy, however it is a bit of a miss by the manufacturer that no instructions are included. A little common sense and/or referring to the product photos is helpful in getting all the parts properly placed.
Once assembled, you get the sense of ceremony that is to follow. Each of the glass pieces are delicate and have a distinct order in which they go together. The process of adding your grounds, filling the reservoir, and setting your drip rate are all methodical; they take time and thought. This is not a difficult coffee maker to use, but it does slow you down and make you think about each step. For me, this simply adds to the enjoyment of what is to come.
While I understand that some have (and will) had trouble getting everything dialed in and working, for me, this cold brew maker performed flawlessly out of the box. To get similar results, I am adding some tips on the “ceremony” I use to get the perfect cold brew:
1. The Grind
The grind of your coffee is probably the most important step. Too fine and the water will have a hard time penetrating the grounds; too coarse and you’ll end up with a weak brew. I recommend using a manual hand grinder set to 16 clicks. This will create an espresso grind that is perfect for a slow gravity drip.
2. Add Grounds
The product page here gives you some measurements – which you can use as a guide. I don’t measure anything and still get good results. Fill the cone filter about 3/4 full of your grounds. You’ll know it’s right because it will be full enough to where the included filters match the inner diameter of the filter. If the filter is folding up on the sides, you need to add more grounds; if the filter doesn’t fully cover the grounds, you’ve added too much. Place the filter in the carafe with the lipped glass plate on top.
3. Add the Water and Ice
First, make sure the drip valve is closed. You can look down through the top to visually inspect whether it is open or closed. Again, I didn’t measure, but I did pre check the volume of the water reservoir against the volume of the carafe just to make sure there was no potential for the carafe spilling over. Fill the water reservoir about 3/4 full of crushed ice and top with water up to the base of the lid. Gently place the reservoir in the top of the stand aligning the drip valve with the lip on the glass plate covering the filter. Make sure the lid on the reservoir is in place.
4. Set the Drip Rate
Turn on the drip valve so that it is dripping at a rate of about one drip per second – or, for musicians, it is dripping in 4/4 time. From this point, it is a waiting game. You’ll see the first drops of cold brew emerge after about 20-30 minutes. At about 45 minutes, you’ll see that the drip rate exiting the filter almost matches the drip rate set on the valve. Expect the brewing process to take 60-90 minutes.
5. Enjoy
The cold brewed coffee is much stronger than a regular drip coffee. Personally, I think it is best served in a demitasse cup, like an expresso, or over a small scoop of vanilla ice cream in an affogato.
Suffice to say, this is probably one of my favorite things I’ve found on coffeemakers.us.com. The industrial, lab-quality build is eye-catching and noteworthy while its ability to steep a great cold brew is undeniable. It would make an incredible and memorable gift, but (selfishly) I am happy to have it for myself! Highly recommend.

The structure of the product, which is made out of borosilicate glass and stainless steel, not only gives off an air of beauty but also guarantees the product’s resilience and lifespan. The components that are used are of a superior grade, and they do not emit any off-putting aromas or flavors that can contaminate the brewing procedure for coffee. The slow drip technique that this coffee maker uses is a revolutionary step forward in coffee-making. It enables a slow extraction of flavors, which, in turn, results in a cold brew that is silky smooth, and well-balanced. This mellow and full-bodied cup of coffee is excellent for those hot summer days or any time you desire a refreshing pick-me-up since, unlike standard brewing techniques, which may produce a flavor that is harsh or acidic, this slow drip approach creates a cup of coffee that is mellow and smooth. The adaptability of this cold-brew coffee maker is what separates it from other models. In addition to being an outstanding iced tea maker, it is also very good at making high-quality cold brew coffee, which is a specialty beverage. Because of its intuitive layout and versatile functioning, it is an excellent asset to have in the kitchen of anyone who has a passion for beverages of all kinds. The ability to brew between two and four cups in a single cycle gives you the flexibility to either savor your delicious creations all by yourself or share them with loved ones and friends.

THE GOOD:
I have to admit, it was the overall look and style of this cold brew slow-drip coffee maker that initially caught my eye and made me order this. I’m a science nerd, and this set looks like something right out of an old-school science lab. I love it! It’s also quite a conversation starter! And because of its looks, I don’t mind keeping this out on my center island.
I like both iced coffee and iced tea – so I’ll be using this for both.
Since there are no instructions, I guessed at the amount of coffee and water (or ice) to use. Then I saw that the item description listing does give measurements. Basically, I just filled the coffee filter cone to almost full and the water/ice globe to full (it holds almost a full bottle of water – about 15-ounces). I chose to use water instead of ice, knowing this was going to take a while before the coffee was ready. I experimented with the drip valve until I found a good, steady drip, and let it do its thing.
When we use our Filtron cold brewer, we let it drip overnight – so a good 24-hours (and it makes the best coffee ever). I anticipated this cold brewer would also take about 24-hours, so I started it knowing it was making coffee for the next day.
When all the water has dripped from the water globe, the water in the carafe is still seeping the coffee from the metal cone filter – so the longer you let this steep, the better the coffee tastes, in my opinion. So a 24-hour brew time is just fine with me.
After 24-hours, I just removed the carafe and metal cone filter, then poured the room-temperature coffee over ice in my coffee mug. Yum!!!
Yes, this is a slow process, but slow-drip cold brewing makes coffee tastes so much better. Coffee is less bitter when made this way, and the flavors of the coffee really stand out.
THE BAD:
With the brewer I received, the silicone sleeve on the tap can only be inserted into the glass water globe so far – as shown in my photos. I tried to insert this sleeve all the way into the globe, but I was afraid any more pressure would break the globe. Because this sleeve doesn’t fit all the way in, the globe and tap assembly rest on the glass cover to the carafe – making the globe sit at a slight tilt. While that isn’t a problem, the issue is that the tap screw rests on the glass cover to the carafe, and water drips from the tap screw – where it SHOULDN’T be dripping. The only way I could stop that from dripping was to raise the glass water globe so there was no pressure on this tap screw. For now, I just stuffed a couple napkins under the glass globe to raise it higher in the wire frame. This works, but sure takes away from the overall look. For this reason, I’ve dropped the rating to 4-stars.
Taking this out of the box and styrofoam padding took a while. This unit was really jammed in there, so I had to break apart the styrofoam just to get this out. Of course, little pieces of static styrofoam now float all around my kitchen. UGH! Luckily I was able to remove it without breaking any of the pieces. If I were going to give this as a gift, I would remove it from the original manufacturer’s box and gift it in a nice basket instead. I wouldn’t want the gift recipient to have to struggle with the packaging – that’s never fun.
There are no instructions included with this set. It seems pretty straightforward on how to place the pieces on the stand, and because we use a Filtron cold brew drip setup for our coffee, I knew the filter needed to go on top the coffee grounds. BUT… someone new to cold brew drip coffee, might need instructions.
I have not used this slow brewer for tea yet, but that’s next, and I’m sure it will work very well for tea.
I am happy with this slow-drip cold brew system. It would be better if the silicone sleeve could either fit all the way into the glass water globe, OR if the wire frame were just 1/4 inch taller (for the reasons above).
