   Researched lots of coffee pots before selecting this one and high hopes that we would love it. Worked great right out of the box. At the 3 month mark we started to see ghosting on the LED display. Now some of the cells are out but it still made coffee. Today the display shows error code E21. Tried all the internet tricks and what was in the manual and nothing has worked. It’s now a $160 paper weight. I have contacted Braun and am waiting for a response.

   It makes great coffee. Nice modern look. Very attractive carafe. Main likes and unique tidbits • no need for paper filters • removable water reservoir let’s you take it to the sink and fill it instead of filling a carafe to fill a reservoir • charcoal filter • separate hot water line with variable water temps for different tea varieties • appealing digital time display (with a caveat) • lots of options for size of beverage including over ice • power cord can be pushed into coffee maker to shorten it • included portion measuring accessory has scoop size details on it which is excellent • warranty registration card included let’s you take a pic of a unique code to make registration very simple Main detractions • Carafe looks great but is awkward to wash. Lid pops off but top with handle does not and the opening is very small (2.5″ diameter) • You really have to remember to move the lever to drip stop after brewing or you’ll be wiping up the heat pad a lot • after setting the time the colon on the digital clock display just blinks. No idea why that would be part of the design

   If I could give a zero star review I would. The touch pad functions do not always work and it is extremely cumbersome to clean. The coffee basket and filter overflow and grinds get stuck on and cover the lid every time coffee is brewed. So in order to keep the brewer clean I have to unplug the machine and bring it to the sink and hand wash the basket and lid because they are not removable. When doing that sometimes the clock needs to be reset after unplugging the machine. On top of it Delonghi (the actual manufacturer) has pretty bad customer service. The people are very nice when you speak to them, but I have been emailing and calling them for close to two months to resolve this and I really just want them to give me my money back. I attempted to return the machine through coffeemakers.us.com, but it was two days after the last day for returns. On top of it right I paid $200 for the machine it went on sale all over the internet anc could not get through to anyone to price match. This machine is not worth the money and I am going to purchase another brand as soon as I find one I like.

   This coffee maker looks great but it’s not too great on brewing good drinks. I don’t drink coffee. I prefer tea so I usually make only two separate cups a day. My old coffee maker was a Mr. Coffee and it was pretty simple but it did not have an automatic shut-off so I ordered this one to replace it. I am not impressed with this at all. First off, it is a little difficult to find the right setting and the manual isn’t sufficient enough. I have been using this everyday for two weeks with and without the filter and my tea tastes awful. When I first unpacked this and got it on my counter I ran three full cycles with just water as instructed in the manual. I am not sure if it will eventually start to taste normal or if I’m stuck with it tasting awful forever and unfortunately I broke my old Mr. Coffee into pieces moving it to make room for this one. I’m really disappointed. I might have to go buy another Mr.Coffee sooner rather than later if this one doesn’t start to making decent tea. I am still trying to figure out some of the settings. It really has turned into such a chore to operate this. I will keep trying for a bit longer to get my perfect tea. I am really attached to the way this looks. It is a nice sleek design. I can tell that it was built to last so in fairness it does deserve a little more time to get better but, for now, I rate this pretty low.

   The first question I wanted the answer to: Is the coffee better? Yes it is. This machine makes drip coffee as good as any I have had. Is it worth three times more money than a regular coffee brewer? I guess that depends on how much you care about coffee. If you’re like me and you grind your beans right before brewing, this coffee maker will allow you to make pour-over quality gourmet tasting coffee automatically. The ease and convenience of automatic drip coffee with the flavor and body of pour-over coffee is worth the price of entry to me, provided this machine lasts a few years. Why this machine brews better coffee is probably down to its ability to get the water to a high enough temperature. Most drip coffee makers get the water hot enough to make a good cup of coffee, but this thing goes the few extra degrees higher in brewing, and that seems to make all the difference in extracting optimal flavor from the beans. Braun is calling this “ExactBrew” (“calculating the precise water flow, temperature, and speed…”) which may sound like spurious nonsense, but it really, honestly, does make a better pot of coffee. And it does it fast. Aside from ExactBrew, there are other nice features here. The brew selector allows you to make coffee light, medium, or strong. The “light” setting is nonsense, just drink tea. The medium setting is perfect for hot coffee, and the bold/strong setting is great for iced coffee. Turn on the iced coffee setting and the hot plate stays cold. And there’s a setting that bypassing the coffee filter and gives you hot, filtered water. There’s also a dial that allows you to select the amount of coffee you’re brewing. This tells the brew computer how to affect the temperature and flow of water to extract the best flavor based on how much coffee you’re making. This is called the MultiServe dial. This feature will allow you to brew single cups large and small, travel mugs, or a pot. If you use a K-cup machine to brew single cups of coffee-like beverage, you can now toss it. This machine makes a credible single cup of coffee fast. It takes proportionately more coffee to brew a cup than a pot, but it’s still more affordable than buying disposable pods, and the beverage you get is much, much closer to good coffee instead of the swill you get from a Keurig. Oh, and you aren’t filling a landfill somewhere with plastic cups. To me, this one ability – to replace my single serve machine – changes everything. The build quality to me seems excellent, as one would expect from Braun. Everything is tight and polished and beautiful. The illuminated display is very high-end and professional looking. The engineering is also exceptional. For instance, if you engage the brew stop (so you can remove the pot in the middle of brewing), it will actually halt the brewing, so you can take your time. Most coffee makers, if you pull out the pot in the middle, you have about 40 seconds to get it back in place before the filter overflows. Similarly, there’s a sensor that detects when the lid to the filter basket is open, and it will tell you on the display, and pause the brewing. This prevents issues where you forget to close the top, causing the hot water to spurt out onto the counter. There are a lot of thoughtful little touches like this that take this coffee maker to the next level. The engineers at Braun seem to have included everything one would want, but managed to avoid excessive pointless novelties or silly useless features. For me, the only downside is the height of the machine. It comes in slightly over 15” tall. Call it 15 ¼”. My cupboards are 15” high, so I can’t slide the machine under them. But my house is 150 years old; this may not be a problem in your house, as long as your counters are about 15 ½” or more from the cupboards. So, is it worth $150-$200 for this machine? It depends. If you’re particular about your coffee, this will make pour-over quality gourmet coffee with less mess and hassle. If you would like to brew small amounts, like a single mug, as well as large pots, in the same machine, this will do it, and save you the counter space of two separate machines. This is the first drip machine I’ve owned that could really brew a single cup of delicious coffee, and that is a big deal to me. But if you just want to make a pot of coffee and don’t really care if it’s just good coffee instead of excellent coffee, any $40 drip coffee maker can brew a good pot. I’m not wealthy, but I relish my morning coffee and, though I did receive this one from coffeemakers.us.com Vine for free, I would not regret it in any way if I had paid full price for it. It’s easily the best drip coffee maker I’ve had in my long life. A total win for me.

   Makes great coffee, love the separate hot water dispenser, just make sure the cup is in the exact position to avoid splatters, (slightly back and toward the water tank side) dont like the shape of the Carafe, the opening impossible to get hand in for washing and drying, which I do after each use. Doesnt dry out well if you air dry either. I have to jam a dishtowel in with the handle of a wooden spoon to get clean and dry.

    Complete disaster! No matter what I did I could not get a cup of coffee that was not full of grounds and did not get grounds all over the inside of the coffee maker. The photos show coffee made following the exact directions provided by Braun. A full Carafe is supposed to be made with 10 of the Braun big scoops. (A big scoop is more than a heaping Tablespoon the small scoop is a heaping Tablespoon) The above photos shows what happens if you use what they tell you to use. The machine can not handle the amount of water put on the that many grounds and the water backs up and overflows the paper filter. I even tried just using the included filter basket and grounds were still everywhere. ALSO once the coffee maker gives the finished tone that the coffee is done it took 30 more minutes for the coffee to stop dripping from the maker into the pot. 30 MINUTES! YES you read that right 30 MINUTES. Other things I don’t like other than not being able to drink coffee and having to do a major clean up after every pot… 1. You can not turn off the finished notification tone so if your bedroom is close to the kitchen be prepared for it to act like an alarm clock and wake up the house. (Then wait 30 minutes for it to stop dripping) 2. You can not turn the hot plate back on to rewarm the coffee after it takes 30 minutes to finish brewing and the auto heat will turn off in another half hour. 3. Clean button is way too close to the power button. I can see why that complaint is listed many times. 4. The cup size on this is 5 oz. but when you actually brew a 5 oz cup you only get 3 oz in your cup. A 8 oz cup gave you 5 oz and the 12 oz gave you 9 oz. Even waiting the 30 minutes a full carafe was only to the 8 cup mark on the carafe. I get that you lose some water to steam but this was ridiculous. 3 oz of coffee is hardly a swallow. Why bother offering it? 5. I do wonder if the finer grind of American brands of coffee might be part of the problem and the machine puts out water faster than it can drain through the American style grounds????? I spent all day yesterday making cup after cup after pot after pot trying to see what was going on and if I was doing something wrong. I eventually tried just reducing the amount of coffee for the carafe but in order to not have grounds everywhere I had to have brown water rather than drinkable coffee. So disappointed. I was so sure Braun would do coffee right that I did not read the reviews of this maker. Bad idea.

    Testing this Braun Coffee Machine as part of the coffeemakers.us.com Vine program. You might be forgiven for thinking that this rather large machine from Braun (picture shows next to full size Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine) with a somewhat hefty price tag ($199 at time of review) does more than make regular coffee. I think it’s also a missed opportunity by the manufacturer to have made a combi, or multi use design. Braun already makes the excellent Tassimo pod coffee machines (more prevalent in Europe than the USA) and this does make a great up of coffee, but it seems a lot of money for basically just another machine. Has a permanent mesh filter if you don’t like paper ones that needs washing after each use. 7 size settings from cup to carafe, and a fast brew for a full pot in under 8 minutes when you need it quickly. Has Light, Gold & Bold for strength settings, and dispenses over ice, or hot water for tea. That’s about it. It has a very large footprint, and looks very high tech and chic, and of course has the German made pedigree, but I’m not convinced for almost $200. The Cuisinart Flex brew makes drip coffee and K-cups for around $50 less, and the Hamilton Beach Flexbrew does both again for around half the price. With so much choice for coffee today, I really don’t see the attraction in having an old fashioned drip brewer. I rated it 3 stars

    My Braun coffee maker made good coffee for 6 months. Then I started to get error messages. We descaled the pot that did not work. The error code would be cleared. After research I would get it working again. There are videos on you tube on the fix for some of the errors. Then the pot started to make 6 cups of coffee when set for a whole pot without an error message. After a few days of this I contacted Customer Service through coffeemakers.us.com. They asked for a video of that happening and a purchase receipt. Braun said that they would issue a cut the cord notice to me and replace the pot. I cut the cord. That was February 21, 2022. I have sent follow up letters and Texts, only to receive a “we got your mail reply”. I still do not have a replacement. I ordered a new Cuisinart coffee maker. I give this Braun zero stars for all categories. UPDATE: coffeemakers.us.com refunded my purchase. Thank you coffeemakers.us.com.

    Had for 1.5yrs. Nice to have hot water for tea at a push of a button. Coffee works well most of the time. Not easy to clean. If you don’t get the coffee basket in just right (must align little black rubber tab on right side of pic in coffee filter area) it will drip coffee all over the place. A segment is now dead on LCD display. You must call customer service if you need help, they do not handle tech support over email. The took 4 days to respond to tell me this, in the mean time I had figured out my issue on my own. I took off 1 star for this, otherwise 3/5 machine, I am not sure how long it will last.

    Check the pictures. I’m using a 1:18 coffee to water ratio, by weight. This closely aligned to using the provided scoop if you don’t have a scale. Problem is there be basket doesn’t leave enough room between spray head and coffee grounds. Huge design mistake in my opinion and I’m very disappointed. You can’t disassemble to clean it either. I’m just confused as to how this could be. It’s unfortunate to because it makes a good cup of coffee. It’s easy to use and clean other than the spray head. I’m also confused how the SCAA could certify it… did they brew a pot of coffee?

    EDIT: (1 star → 4 stars) Braun warrantied the defective coffee maker and the new one works much better. The coffee drip hole and drip stop mechanism have been redesigned and work as intended. I have owned this coffee maker for 7 months before writing this review. The coffee spilling all over my counter on an increasing cadence has prompted me to share my experience and warn people before they spend $200. The good: – Coffee tastes great – Easy to set volume of coffee/hot water – The reservoir is well designed and very easy to use – I like that the reservoir has a built in filter The annoying: – Water collects in the handle of the carafe during cleaning and drips onto table – Hot water tastes terrible, to me it tastes like plastic, to my SO it tastes/smells like bleach. I ran plenty of water through the hot water mode to try and clear out the taste, I also tried vinegar/water mix with no improvement. – The drip stop does not work well at all. – The hot plate at the bottom has started to corrode (see image). This is likely due to the poor functioning drip stop. – The hot water temp shown on the screen is before it leaves the spout, this means that the water has time to cool (≈30°F in my case) before it hits your cup. The unacceptable: – Coffee wicks across the basket drip hole and completely misses the carafe or cup. this results in coffee spilling all over the place. See the attached videos demonstrating this design flaw. Also note the image of the coffee filter in the correct position while this failure occurs. I have tried drying, cleaning, adjusting the drip stop to solve this issue, none of which have been successful. This issue has completely ruined my confidence in this coffee maker, I have to watch it every time I make coffee so I can stop it when this failure occurs. The first time this happened was 5 months after I bought the coffee maker so I was unable to return it, hopefully Braun CS will help us out, but in the meantime please be cautious of the reliability of this coffee maker.

    Coffee was good, liked the versatility of the machine. Could be easier to clean, but after 25 days the led display began to burn out. Now ~45 days later, the rightmost minute display is almost completely gone. I contacted Braun customer support and placed a service ticket and provided photos. It’s been well over 10 days now with zero contact from them To pay over $150 for a coffee machine that has begun to falter after 25 days is inexcusable. My $30 Mr. Coffee held up strong for 4 years.

    It is a feature rich appliance but, like everyone else, my complaint is the cleaning cycle that goes on forever! It’s too easy to accidentally hit the ‘CLEAN’ button, and even if it is in the mode where it makes the decision that it’s time to clean (and you don’t have a choice) it takes FOREVER, and cannot be interrupted. This morning I hit the button by mistake and off we go. The timer counted down as it cycled through cleaning. After it got to 00 on the display, I thought it was finished. NOPE! it’s bee constantly running it’s stupid clean cycle for over an hour now and, you can’t leave it alone since the pot will overflow. You must stay with it and continually refill and empty the reservoir and the pot. I’m done putting with its major design flaws, unfortunately, it’s time to replace it.

    LIKES Aesthetics: It is a nice looking machine, as expected from Braun. Brew: I do like the quality of the coffee it brews, and the removable water container, which I can carry to the water dispenser to fill. DISLIKES Clock: The LCD readout that started losing legibility. The readout is progressively getting worse. It started failing only a few months after I bought it. it is now impossible to set the time to use the Auto-brew feature. Bad seals or gasket design: Since the machine can brew directly into a cup or glass, the are is no auto-shutoff to pour while brewing. There is a shutoff lever that has to be manually deployed, and it does not seal properly. The coffee continues to drip onto the heat platter, only at a reduced rate. Noisy: The Ready beep is very loud. I find it unnecessary. I’ve brewed coffee for decades without it. And, it does not stop dripping after the beep anyway, so the alert is irrelevant. Pricey: It is expensive. It is too complicated resulting in unexpected problems. Bring back the Aromaster. UPDATE: Beware of third party vendors. Buying on coffeemakers.us.com will invalidate the warranty if you do not buy from the Braun Store (in coffeemakers.us.com). Braun refused to take responsibility for the faulty machine, since the item was sold by a third party seller, (ON coffeemakers.us.com)

    The product was defective upon arrival. After following both quick start guidance and the instruction manual, this coffee maker was unable to complete the initial run through of a 10-cup brew cycle without the E04 error stopping the system. I repeated the above 5 times with the same error. It’s clearly a defective unit. I want to replace, but am leery of the warranty information and wouldn’t buy this unless offered the 4 year warranty that coffeemakers.us.com tries to sell you at checkout. coffeemakers.us.com customer support couldn’t provide me with the manufacturer warranty information, and since the chat “idled” in the two minutes I spent walking to and from the coffee maker to verify information, another agent took over and wanted the info all over again. I assure you that the first agent had more than 2 minute gaps in their replies to me. This was an uncharacteristically poor customer service experience with coffeemakers.us.com. Maybe I should try another leading online retailer.

    I have had this coffeemaker a little over a year, but the problems started roughly a month after I bought it. Aside from the cleaning process (literally just running a prolonged brew cycle of water) being extremely long, the basic functions had issues almost immediately. The “lid” notice and the stop serve function would both get stuck, preventing me from being able to brew a pot of coffee. The only solution was to unplug the machine for a prolonged period and hope the issue would clear. At one point, I went a solid month without using the machine because it would not recognize the lid was closed. Then, I had issues getting the clock to reset. Now, some of the lights on the display have gone out. I emailed customer service asking for an explanation for the multitude of issues, and they offered a refund if I cut the cord of my current coffeemaker and then waited 4-6 weeks for the refund to arrive so I could buy a new one. I am a coffee lover, and I have no problem spending a little more on a machine that works well and creates a great cup of coffee. This machine accomplished neither and was a great waste of money. If you are looking for a multiserve, try another brand. This company doesn’t know what it’s doing. PS: I tried to submit this review to Braun on their website, and they refused to post it because I recommended choosing a different brand. Ha! But seriously. Don’t waste your money.

    I purchased this unit in October of 2023. When I first got it and plugged it in it kept showing an E21 error code. I was finally able to get it cleared. It worked for about a 6-7 weeks and started with the E21 error again. This time it would not clear. So I reached out to Braun directly. It took about 6 weeks to get the replacement. Opened the new (#2) one only to see the body of the machine was cracked. Plugged it in and used about 4 days and it threw the same error code AGAIN. Contacted Braun again and they sent out a 3rd machine. Opened it and again had a huge broken piece in the body, used it for 3 days and, you guessed it, E21 error code. I have contacted them again and awaiting confirmation of them sending my 4th coffee maker 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have never had such an issue with a small appliance being so defective. They obviously know this is a problem but don’t or won’t correct the problem. They also will not issue a refund because of their warranty policy which is ridiculous!! My advice is DO NOT PURCHASE THIS COFFEE MAKER!!

    The auto off doesn’t turn off with any consistency It floods your grounds making it plum to the top of the lid and then either caking itself on the lid or falling in between the filter and the basket which clogs the drip either giving you a mess, giving you horrible coffee or giving you a pool of stale brown water and grounds in the bottom of the basket. The drip stop doesn’t stop anything from dripping .. pull the pot drip drip drip .. it’s like a Chapelle song. I put in 8 cups of water yesterday and got back 6 cups of hot brown … how does that even make sense. Honest review .. it’s great it does a lot of things but it executes them poorly and don’t even get me started on the water filter plug that gets moldy more than anything .. and we have a whole house water softener! I literally hate this coffee machine

    This is actually a very impressive coffee maker. My old one was pretty basic, but this one has a lot of nice features. I like the way you can take the water tank to the faucet to fill, rather than have to fill the carafe, then use that to fill the machine (less spillage). I also like the way you can select single cup servings by size. To check this, I put a measuring cup in the single cup shelf and set the dial to 16 ounces and selected hot water – to my surprise, I got exactly 16 ounces of water! So I thought I’d test this further and I set the hot water temperature for 85 deg C. This was a little tricky, because I was trying to let the small stream of hot water flow over the tip of my temperature probe. Again, it was surprisingly accurate (I actually registered 84 degrees). One minor nitpick – it could find no way to switch to Fahrenheit readings. Another thing I like. I have a pet peace about carafes that dont cleanly pour. I get annoyed when I get drips of coffee all over my counter while pouring myself a cup. This one pours neatly – no complaints with this design. It’s only a 10 cup carafe – that suits my needs. But if you’re used to the 12 cup variety, then you’ll have to plan on using that single cup option to make up the difference, I suppose. One thing that’s both a feature and a complaint – i always rely on coffeemakers check valves to keep coffee from dripping when I remove thg he carafe to pour myself a cup. This one has a lever to stop the drip. I can see where this would be a feature to stop the brewing whenever you need to for various cups, etc. But I can see myself forgetting to slide the lever over when simply removing the carafe for that first cup (while it’s still brewing). Plus – it looks nice on the counter. Overall, I like this new coffeemaker.

    Final review update: March 2024 Purchased : January 2020 Pros: Good coffee Easy to descale Easy to use Cons: Hot plate only stays on for 60 minutes. Hot plate only works on half a pot or a full pot brew. A little over a year after purchasing the number dials started missing lights. See photo. If you use the stop drip switch, it would clear the hot plate timer. After about 2.5 years it stopped brewing half a pot entirely. It would only brew 4 cups, so we had to brew a 16 oz then a half a pot to get a half a pot brewed and have the hot plate turn on. Final issue, the hot plate started pealing and began making tripping our breaker. This is when we went ahead and replaced it. Overall, I would not repurchase. There are better coffee makers on the market that are in the same price range. Original review: We have had the Braun MultiServe Coffee Machine with the hot water feature for about 4 months now and it has absolutely lived up to the expectations and more! The coffee is always delicious and hot! So easy to decide set the auto brew, which we use a lot. I love that everything is tightly sealed so no dust can get in. Easy to clean. The only thing I wish I could change would be the auto shut-off for the hot plate. I drink my coffee a little slow and wish I could have it in longer than the one hour max. The hot water feature comes in super handy. We have used the over ice feature as well and that worked perfect too. Overall I am very happy with this product and have recommended it to numerous friends and family.

    Single serve feature is essentially useless because the drip mechanism is terribly designed. About every 3rd time I brew a cup of coffee I have to clean 2/3s of it off the counter if I’m not watching it like a hawk. The coffee doesn’t drip straight down, it wraps around the edge of the drip mechanism and falls off the side of the machine. The drip stop also isn’t particularly useful because of this, since the coffee doesn’t cleanly come down through the machine. You’ll get several large drips no matter what you do.

    i have had this now for 3 years. near daily use for 1/2 pot coffee
    and hot water 2-3/ week for tea. i have not used for any other setting. this is a great machine. brews relatively quick (its slowing down now). you have 3 brew strengths to choose from. i just use “gold: with reusable filter. i would absolutely buy again. it is a little pricey, but worth it.
    my only complaint as others have pointed out. is the placement of the “clean” button. it is located just above the power button and i mean just above it. if you accidentally hit this, you must go through with clean cycle. you can not unplug and just wait. its was a bad decision to do this
    my only other concern is length of life with heating plate. when i remove the pot to pour, i place a paper towel down on the heating plate so it doesnt just burn liquid coffee. the plate has been starting to bubble over the past 9 months.
    otherwise, coffee comes out nice and hot, timer stays on for an hour so it doesnt burn the coffee

    This coffee maker brews coffee that still tastes great even as the coffee in your cup cools down. That’s not just amazing but important. Who guzzles down the coffee before it cools down? The Technivorm Moccamaster which I also purchased from coffeemakers.us.com also makes gold cup standard coffee, but it loses flavor as the coffee cools down in the cup, and the 2nd cup is less than perfect. Most reviews overlook this very important factor. The Braun not only brews it at the right temperature but maintains it at the right temperature. Hope this helps someone who is comparing the two. My wife and I both voted out the Moccamster and now use only the Braun.
    It does an impressive job with a single cup. Perfecto!
    Easy to use? No. If you don’t read the manual, you’ll have a hard time dealing with it. The glass carafe is in cups, and the water reservoir is in oz. Good luck figuring out your cup vs ounces. The carafe is also difficult to clean, but we’ll overlook that considering the quality of the brew.
