   I am a lover of Vietnamese Coffee. I tried several filters on coffeemakers.us.com, returned a few but kept this one because 1. The golden color of the filter made it a luxury device. 2. The durability of the filter. 3. No coffee powder fell onto the glass. But, yes, the screw of the inside filter could not tighten because the leftover the coffee powder. I had to use a small stick to pull it out in order to tignten the screw. That’s why it has 4 stars instead of 5. Improve it in the next manufacturing, please.

   This Vietnamese Coffee Maker would be better if there was a flap to lift the lid and a handle on the cup with a pour spout. When I poured the coffee over the ice, there was a dribbled mess so every time I use it I have to be prepared for the cleanup. The lid has no flap so if I wanted to add more hot water, it’s a struggle to take off the lid especially since I just poured hot water into the filter. A handle on the cup would make it easier to hold and pour when the coffee is hot. I’m on the fence about recommending it, although the coffee it produces tastes like authentic strong Vietnamese coffee and it looks like a nice set, I’d use a different cup when pouring it over ice.

   There is not much to say about this: it works as advertised and the instructions lead you to producing a nice strong cup of coffee. I tend to drink mine warm rather than iced, but the pot, glass, and directions will provide the proper proportions to add just enough crushed ice to make it iced if you prefer it that way. (in the picture, I have already had a drink from this glass) I grind my coffee to a “3” with a burr grinder and it takes about 7 minutes for the full brew to happen. It makes a single cup and it is not a big size, so if you’re accustomed to the massive Starbucks-sized coffees, this is probably not for you. The kit comes nicely packaged in a box that could be easily gift wrapped for someone who likes this style of coffee.

   I tried this because I was intrigued by the notion of something very different from the nearly immediate coffee from one of those counter top single cup makers. Also, Vietnamese coffee was hailed as a very different taste experience. I like the almost meditative quality to making coffee this way so it gets three stars. But the flavor really isn’t that different from any other coffee. Adding condensed milk (as is recommended) makes it too sweet for me. So I stick with black and enjoy a “slow coffee.”
