   So my coffee machine broke down this past Saturday and I’ve been struggling with instant and reheated coffee that most people don’t mind but for me just doesn’t cut it, so while I’m waiting for my new model ninja coffee maker to come in I figured I’d try something that would be more efficient and not ever really have problems with for any reason, that’s when I stumbled upon this gem!    Love this carafe. Beautiful. I would call it “eggplant” and not red. Fun to use. The steel filter is too quick and thus, I find it needs a paper filter. Keeps my coffee hot. However, I purchased it to keep my home coffee hot. I have plenty of to go coffee containers. Besides, it is too beautiful to be banging around (scratching) in my basket or backpack. Problem is, it cools fast if you do not plan to remove the glass funnel and close it with the lid. Consequently, I leave the used filter in place. I have also tried the lid as a plug. I have gently, loosely, popped it into the glass funnel after my pour, for some heat retention. But either way, you have to be really careful when you go back for your second pour and with that…still, heat escapes rather quickly. Why isn’t there a plastic free, stainless steel, insulated carafe for home use? This could be it, if modified. Cons: The glass is very fragile. Handle with care. I say the less you have to remove the glass funnel, the better. It would be far improved if the glass funnel was also insulated. This is a high-end, delicate item. Treat with care and respect. Rinse CAREFULLY, after each use. This will prevent the coffee from sitting on the painted enamel and discoloring exterior. I place mine back onto it’s wooden tray once drip dry to keep it out of harm’s way. It has become a new daily ritual for me and I just love using it. Thanks for reading this.

However something that cannot be overlooked is that it leaks from the joint between the neck and carafe.     I bought this about two months ago. Keeps coffee a lot warmer than other full glass pour overs. However, it leaks when you pour if you don’t screw the top on EXTREMELY tight. Once the lid is on tight enough, it’s extremely hard to get off to take apart to wash. Was annoying but okay until the glass top broke apart in my hand trying to unscrew it. Disappointed that this one issue has made the coffee maker unusable.

    This is a great pot. Keeps coffee hot for a long time. The only problem I’ve had with it is It leaks around the top when you pour. (see Picture) Perhaps it’s missing a gasket. Or perhaps I just need to tighten the top on with a Large Pipe Wrench!!! I’m open to suggestions.

    I have every coffee accessory you can think of. This is made really well. So far the thermos has not discolored or rusted (Hand wash only). The screw top is tight. The glass and rubber attachment are also leak proof. The reusable filter is amazing. It is double layered.! It has a fine metal mesh on the inside and a laser cut screen on the outside. Most only have the laser cut and I have to use a filter anyway to strain the extra sediment and bitterness. Not with this one. This is an amazing product. I originally needed something to make more than one 12 ounce portion in the AM. The other portion is for my partner that drinks it about 30 minutes later. So, the other glass carafes leave it to become cold. Not with this. It keeps it fresh and it’s 32 ounces. Not too big and not too small.

    All the reviews were spot on. Easy to clean. Keeps coffee hot though my second cup which can sometimes be as long as 2-3 hrs. I haven’t tried the 12 hr test but I’m very happy with this brewer. Only slight disapppointment was color said “red” and it’s more a purple/eggplant color. I have red highlight decor in my kitchen and LR. Would have ordered black if I thought it was dark purple. Otherwise very happy with this product and bottom line it keeps my coffee hot and its a good cup of Joe.

    Makes very good coffee. I changed over to this drip coffee maker because of health risks associated with using a French Press. This drip coffee is as good, without the risks. Tastes great, and the coffee maker is easy to clean. This 1000 ml coffee maker produces 3 normal size mugs of coffee, enough so that you might need to keep it hot to avoid reheating, and it is here that this product has an issue. Once you remove the glass top piece that holds the filter full of grounds, the metal bottom is an odd shape that is ugly, and very awkward to handle and pour from. My solution was to buy a #13 size rubber plug (also on coffeemakers.us.com), leave the top piece on, and after removing the filter, use the rubber plug to seal off the hot coffee. Easier to pour and better looking. A $5 solution, and it keeps the coffee maker small and easier to store than ones that come with a handle. So it’s a good $15 coffee maker, but a much better $20 coffee maker once you add the plug. Go ahead. Live a little. Bezos probably could use the extra money.

    UPDATE: 1.5 years later, daily use and still amazing! So this has my vote 100% over chemex. My in-laws have a chemex and I find the bamboo handle too large for me to comfortably hold and they leave it on a burner on low to keep warm. PROS: This has several advantages to other pour overs. No paper filter needed- the ALL metal double layer mesh filter is awesome! The black handle to hold (while it did get a bit warm after the process, was not too hot to hold) is made of plastic, but has a silicone gasket that completely covers the inside so coffee does not contact it and is small enough that I felt confident holding and pouring. The insulated bottom eliminates the need to have a burner on during breakfast and kept coffee warm (more on this later). CONS: I really like this product and anticipate using it in place of our coffee maker, but there are a few things to note. Other reviewers stated it leaked for them at the attachment point. We had zero leaking both times we have used this. The lid that comes with it is in-fact plastic on the inside, so if you were going to use the bottom as a thermos, just know the coffee will be in contact with plastic. The bottom is large and without the glass top portion a bit fiddly to pour from, but leaving the glass top on will release steam (heat). I corrected this by purchasing a silicone plug that another reviewer suggested and it works perfectly- kept heat in during breakfast and a few hours later still nice and warm with still keeping unit intact and making pouring easy. Over all- definitely love and would recommend! I suggest purchasing the silicone pour over plug from coffeemakers.us.com to keep coffee warm.

    I’ve had this for less than a month. Use it once per day to make a carafe of coffee. We don’t have a dishwasher. The lid came apart. It was very cheaply glued.****Update: now, the mesh in the cone filter is separating and coming apart.     This picture is of the filter after two and a half years of daily use (on the right) compared to a new one (on the left). It finally wore out and grounds were getting between the mesh layers, but that’s a good life span for how often we use it. The rest of the coffee maker has held up great and shows little wear. You can buy the pieces individually on their website in case you, like me, break the glass filter piece.

    I was so excited. I just recv’d about an hour ago. Opened up the coffeemakers.us.com box only to find the cylinder coffee box was unsealed and opened. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and made my first pot of coffee… so DISAPPOINTED… he has either a crack or separation between the glass top part and the brewing piece it’s attached to… it leaks like a sieve all over the counter and down the cupboards not happy. So I rinsed it out and after clean-up tried again with plain water… LEAKS LIKE A SEIVE ALL over the place. What a big disappointment after spending $50 for manual pour over coffee. I can do better than that will my strainer and a plain old pot of boiling water.

    I am finally in Love, Great coffee is the way to my heart. It takes 4 tablespoons of coffee and 32 ozs of water. I brought a great Moosoo kettle that holds 33oz of water to go with the Asobu coffee over pour. Sounds like a authentic Japanese tea party, LOL. It makes the perfect cup of coffee or tea every time. The top part is glass with a ring of attached black gripper that’s screws off and the bottom has a shiny rich cooper finish. After you finish pourI got your first delicious cup of coffee or tea. The thermal canister comes with a nice stainless steel lid that locks in the hot for your next cup. I waited 4 hours before opening the thermal canister for my second cup. Steamy hot coffee came pouring out, Amen for A product that lives up to it description. The stainless steel filter is great I can just wash it out and keep it moving. If you love coffee or tea like I do its a must have or gift it to a family member or friend that loves coffee. You will be on their Xmas list forever. Cheers

    Excellent concept with unfortunate flaws. As shown in my attached photo the cheap Press Fitted Filter to trim ring failed after only a dozen uses. And the thermal heat loss from the carafe is only good for maybe one hour…if you like your coffee hot. (Their Video demonstration is with a superior model than what is made in China…or it’s just Fraud…you decide). I like that it’s easy to clean, ergonomic, rugged carafe, and stylish. I’ve ordered a Chemex style “quality” filter basket and will continue to use my original purchase. PS: coffeemakers.us.com Support was great! They paid to replace the basket!

    We LOVE this product except for one very disturbing design flaw… Each morning, we make coffee and keep the top section attached while we pour our coffee. Multiple times now, the top section has fallen off the base even though we screw it on very tightly each time. I believe the silicone screw of the top section may be too flexible when it gets hot during the brewing process and then doesn’t properly fit the metal base screw. Be VERY careful when moving the assembly or you too can have your precious morning coffee all over the kitchen floor, bedroom carpet, and more!

    This works so well! We were getting frustrated with how quickly our pour over coffee was cooling in the traditional glass carafe. This keeps our coffee hot until it’s all finished. We use the Able Brewing Black Heat Lid to keep the heat in even longer when we are enjoying it at home and want to keep the glass carafe top on. Otherwise the cap this comes with seals it and keeps in the heat.

    The concept is great, the execution is poor. Tested as soon as it arrived, and it couldn’t keep the coffee hot for longer than 2 hours. I’ve raised a complaint as this seems like just pure mis-selling.

    The glass is fragile, but then most glass is. The actual shape of the container looks great, but is absolutely awful to hold unless the spout is attached, which again negates the whole reason you’d buy this over a normal, glass hario dripper.

    This is a very good quality item. The carafe keeps my coffee warm (I’m guessing that’s the double wall). It’s easy to clean manually with a baby bottle brush, no dishwasher needed. I can’t think of any real cons. Some tips and answers to questions that others might find helpful: – One of the other reviews/answers mentioned re-tightening the grip after brewing. This is a good step. I didn’t notice any leakage but it definitely was more loose than before brewing. – The grip gets warm but not uncomfortable. – This comes with a screw-on cap. You need to remove the grip/glass to screw it on. That said, I just placed the cap in the glass and this worked to keep my coffee warm. The cap never got hot. – It comes with instructions for how to pour. If you’re new, I’d imagine they are very helpful. It’s a mild brew (50/50 water/grounds). – FILTERS: You can probably use this without filters. I use my Hario size 2 filters. The attached image is 66g of ground coffee with a full out-in-out pour draining but I suspect you could probably use the size 3. The only size 4 filters I’ve ever found are not truly conical. Instead of a point at the end the size 4 filters have a flat bottom that’s significantly wider than the metal one and thus would be annoying to use.

    It works well, keep coffee hot all day for refills. I’m very happy with the purchase. My only complaint is that with regular washing and placing on a dish rack, the lip broke! I’ve had it less than 6 months and I wasn’t being forceful at all. Additional note is that you’ll want to ensure everything is tight, or it will drip/leak a little.
