   My husband chose this machine based on the positive reviews and we wanted to love it. Or at least like it. But after using it for a little over a month, we are returning. It looks nice and has the standard features but it’s not user friendly. On the minor side, the clock face isn’t illuminated, making the digital numbers nearly impossible to see, especially early in the morning when stumbling downstairs for coffee. So I can’t speak to any programming features b/c I if I can’t use them without turning on an overhead light, then they’re of no use to me. Likewise, you can only see how much water you’re adding by looking down inside the machine. You can’t go by how much you fill up the carafe because water always spills from the carafe when pouring into the tank (so keep your towel handy). The major issues: – Hard to clean! The showerhead of the pot always ends up with coffee grounds all over it. Have fun trying to get it all out of the little holes. (And I don’t like to think about the funky water that never shakes or evaporates from behind that non-removable plastic cover.) The grounds fall down into the water tank, too, so it’s not uncommon to drink some gritty grounds with your coffee. The only parts that are removable for cleaning are the filter baskets. – Frequent clogging / spillover! This is where we think maybe we have a defective machine. I mean, we are two adults with five college degrees and decades of coffee making between us and we can’t determine what causes the issue (some days fine, some days messy disaster). You hit the brew button to start it going, walk away to do whatever, then return to find coffee seeping out UNDER the carafe. Open the top of machine to find coffee soup brimming to the top of the top of the filter. Then it’s a fun game of lifting the hot liquid out of there and get it to your sink without spilling or burning yourself. This morning this happened and I had to unplug machine and dump upside down over the sink and the spray in & out with water to get all the grounds out from everywhere. Wasted coffee beans, wasted time. – Coffee, even when it’s a no-hassle day, is “meh”. I notice it tasting weak sometimes when I seemingly used the same coffee/water ratio as always. When I clean out carafe at end of each morning, there’s a thin layer of sludgy coffee that sunk to bottom. This was not an issue with previous coffee makers, using the same coffee beans and grinder we use now. Also, for what it’s worth, we used the gold reusable filter that came with machine. I was happy to replace my paper filters to reduce waste and did not try paper filters instead to troubleshoot. I’ve used reusable filters in other machines in past and didn’t have these issues, either. We also used the tablespoon serving size suggestion for ground coffee. We use whole coffee beans and a simple grinder. Normally I may be more forgiving, but after this morning’s mess I was over it. The relief was that we’d not missed our window to return for refund. None really gave me good enough coffee. This drip coffee machine has water filter for better taste, easy to operate and coffee was nice and hot which satisfied my need. Also love the look. Happy with the purchase and I can see using it for years to come.

   I wanted to leave a review for those who rely on them, like I do! I did so much research and searching for the perfect drip coffee maker for us. I came across this Braun and had never heard of the brand but loved the reviews! We chose the white one and this coffee maker is BEAUTIFUL in our counter and makes a fantastic cup of coffee! We love our choice. We received it within a week of ordering and it feels heavy and well made. I gave it 4 stars simply because once you’ve brewed a pot of coffee, it makes a cracking noise as the heat plate kicks in. At least that’s what we think it is .. and I think it’s only because it’s still so new. Other than that, everything works very easily and efficiently.

   It brewed good coffee and I liked the pour which could be done easily without spill. BUT The device quit brewing after 11 months. Error Code E01. After further research I find that this is not an uncommon issue. Dealt with support who have offered to replace this under warranty with a CHEAPER model. I refused and asked for my money back or another model which is currently even in price with the one I had. They accepted and I am waiting on the delivery. I got lucky in that this broke one month before the warranty expires. I have always been partial to Braun but since a 3-year-old beard trimmer of theirs cut out on me recently as well I will need to reevaluate my loyalty to that brand. My seven-year-old shaver still works well. Quality appears to have gone down, maybe because they moved their manufacturing to China? The photo is that of the cut cord they asked me to send them as proof that the device has been disabled. I am happy with their support but make sure to not accept a cheaper model as a replacement.

   I really, really wanted to like this coffee machine. Aesthetically, it’s beautiful, clean lines, the color I wanted (white/stainless steel). But functionality…wasn’t as functional as I thought it would be for the amount of money I paid for. A bit too tall for under my cabinets and required pulling the machine out each time I had to fill the water reservoir. I’m 5’1, so filling it in general was a bit of a nuisance, may work better if you’re a tall person and have it sitting somewhere other than under your kitchen cabinets. The 1-4 cup setting on mine did not work. I followed the instructions in the manual, and after feeling frustrated, got tech support, only to get the same results so I was given the option to return for a replacement or refund. I chose the latter. No point in the bells and whistles if the product doesn’t do what it says, granted I had a defective one, but what a loss! It’s a nice looking machine.

   The LCD thin black digital numbers are ridiculously difficult to see on the poorly illuminated gray background. The size of digital display is fine, but far too dim and without an option to adjust the brightness. Given the poor LCD display, we didn’t use the unit so I can’t say how well it brews coffee.

   This brewed what is possibly the third best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. The two best cups of black coffee I ever had both came from Bunn thermally regulated machines (big bucks). This is the first non-regulated machine that almost made a cup of coffee without burning any of the oil. The burning of the coffee oil was minimal, I don’t think many people would detect it besides the few of us that enjoy black coffee and can tell when the oil is burnt. Overall it’s a really nice machine, it is compact, easy to operate, the carafe doesn’t dribble and seems to brew a really good cup of coffee. Although it is 2 to 4 times less expensive than all the other coffee makers I’ve ever owned, it out brews all of them except one (a Bunn). However at this price and simplicity you can’t go wrong. I have found that I get a nearly perfect cup of coffee if I refrigerate the carafe of water overnight before brewing. The only gripe I really have about the coffee maker is that the clock is difficult to read because it is not backlit and with the lighting in my kitchen there is a glare on the plastic covering the clock making it difficult to read. So forget the clock, forget setting it to turn on in the morning, and don’t think it’s going to make a chime to let you know it’s done. All those features don’t work or are impossible to see or don’t exist. Just enjoy a great cup of coffee from a quality $40 machine. On a side note, you should leave the top open when you are done brewing to let the moisture out and if by some chance, you pull the carafe out while brewing for too long the brew chamber can overfill with water and back up the coffee grounds into your sprayer. If this happens and you have a spray hose at your sink, turn it upside down, and wash it out. You may get some grounds circulated up through the sprayer for a while, but your coffee filter will keep them from going into your carafe. For those of you that want to taste a cup of coffee exactly like what you had in your favorite restaurant you can drop about $900 to fully outfit a Bunn 12950. To update, it is now April 2024 and the little coffee maker is still going strong, so I bought another one, because if you live in California It is against state law for manufacturers to sell replacement parts for small (residential appliances) so since I’ve had this unit unit since 2019 I figured I should buy another one before it is discontinued or heaven forbid, it possibly breaks. I discovered this obscure state law when my (Bunn) coffee makers heating element went out. I called the manufacture to purchase a replacement element, and they informed me as to California law and why they could not sell me the replacement part, they stated to me that appliances listed as (Commercial) can have replacement parts but not household.

    I initially was in the market for a 5 cup coffee maker as I’m the only coffee drinker in the house. But there’s very little good options out there for something that small so I decided to do some research. This one popped up on a lot of top five drip coffee makers. It’s easy to use out of the box; there’s the option for 1-4 cups of coffee for my needs. The carafe feels nice to hold and doesn’t spill when pouring into the water reservoir or pouring coffee into my mug. My first ever coffee maker which I replaced this one with was a cheap one that spilled everywhere so I thought this was normal. It’s nice to know quality comes with a little increase in price point in the $100 range. I’m 4,11” and have to tip toe a little to put the coffee into the gold basket but pouring it into the reservoir is fine for me. I like that you can easily find replacement filters, carafe and basket for this model. The coffee does not continue to drip onto the heater plate once you remove the carafe to pour your coffee so there’s no burns on the plate that’s hard to clean and builds up. Another quality of life improvement with the price point. It’s a nice modern looking machine that compliments our house well.

    This coffee maker looked good, and worked OK for 2 years, then stopped working with an “E01” error displayed. Unplugging the unit for 24 hours, as suggested by various forums, did not help. Also, apparently because the unit drips a little when the carafe is removed, it eventually rusted through the warming plate surface!

    This combo of white/stainless steel, Braun coffee maker, looks sharp, in the kitchen. Easy to use and makes hot coffee. Only had an issue trying to set the clock, however, as I unplug the machine until needing it, don’t need a clock on the coffee machine. Really a well-functioning and good looking machine. Instruction booklet which included inserting the charcoal filter that came with the machine, easy step by step instruction, same with the description on “before using”. Very happy with this Braun coffee maker

    As stated in the headline, overall I liked this coffee maker except that it didn’t keep my coffee that warm and there was no way to adjust coffee temperature, like on some other coffee makers. I knew that the machine lacked this feature but I didn’t think it would be a big deal for me but after making coffee in it a bunch of times, I felt that the coffee would be luke warm within 10 minutes of brewing and I always needed to reheat it in the microwave afterwards. If you drink your coffee immediately after it brews, then this may not be an issue for you but it ended up being an issue for me. Otherwise, it’s a nice coffee maker and easy to use as well as clean. I also liked the taste of the coffee from this machine.

    Braun had always had a good reputation but this coffee maker is a disappointment. I bought it in October 2021 and within 6 months, a small spot starting forming on the heating element. I don’t think there was anything I had done to cause it because I was always careful to clean it gently with a slightly damp sponge or paper towel, never with chemical clearners, and never scrubbed it. The spot wouldn’t rub off and grew bigger over time. Then, the outer black layer just peeling off to the point in my photos, taken about 14 months after purchase and 1st use. Now, half of the heating element is corroded. The melted black material has burned itself onto the bottom of the carafe, and scrubbing with a non-scratch sponge and dishwashing soap or soaking doesn’t remove it. At this point, I don’t know if this is a fire hazard. I decided to share this review with you to save you the grief of buying it. Also, if it catches on fire, I’ll have documentation of the event. Today the automatic start timer stopped working.

    The simple facts: So, I purchased this Braun BrewSense drip coffee maker in September of 2021. I’ve used it nearly every single day since then, sometimes more than once a day. I brew ground medium strength coffee in it. The great: It’s been my favorite coffee maker I’ve ever purchased. It brews delicious coffee (for my palate, I fill the water to 12, and use 11 scoops of coffee to get my “just right” flavor), it brews at average speed, and keeps it at perfect temp. The top lid opens widely for easy loading of water into the reservoir, and the reusable filter basket has held up over the years and is easy to clean. The recent not so great: Today after brewing a full sized pot as usual to start my day, I went about cleaning and noticed a strong burning odor coming from my kitchen. Upon investigation, the unit was smoking/smoldering, producing cackling sounds I’ve never heard before, and displayed an error code saying “E02”. I immediately turned off the unit, removed the carafe from the hot plate, and unplugged the unit. It continued to smoke for a few minutes and the cackling sound persisted as well. I moved the unit outside to my porch to be safe in case of it producing flames. Currently: I’ve submitted a warranty request to Braun/their parent company who oversees these things (DēLonghi) since their warranty covers 3 years from the date of purchase, luckily placing me within eligible warranty timeframe. When I looked in the manual for what the E02 code means, it only states to contact them “for repair”. My assumption is that it is due to an electrical fault that can result in a fire that can lead to death. I’m glad I caught it quickly and will be eager to read Braun’s response to remedy it. It’s a great coffee maker that I’ve never had issues with until today, so my hope is that it will get repaired or replaced and I can continue enjoying the product’s coffee making magic again soon. 🙂 I will update when things have been addressed and hopefully remedied.

    I was looking for a basic old school coffee pot and chose this one after much research. I love it! I am a former barista who both loves drinking and making coffee. This means I also have just about every method for brewing coffee at home. Drip coffee isn’t my favorite method of brewing coffee, at least not if I’m going for the best flavor and brew. However, I drink a few cups each morning and I got tired of the time consuming rituals of some brew methods. I decided to get a coffee pot so that I could have a full pot of coffee without too much fuss. The taste from this pot is good, never burnt. I like the simplicity of the operation of it, while also having a programmable option. If you are looking for a dependable coffee pot that makes good coffee and reminds you of coffee brewing in the morning when you were a kid, then this is the best me for you. I love it.

    Best coffeemaker I’ve had in every respect, except that, like every one I’ve ever had, it has a coated or painted warming plate that will soon start to shed its finish and rust. I bought the one shown in my photos from coffeemakers.us.com just over two years ago. (The black flecks lying around the plate in one of the photos are bits of coating that came off when I last wiped it.) And the municipal tapwater I use both to brew with and to clean it is soft, lake water, and home-filtered for extra purity to boot. Over the years I’ve owned several Braun coffeemakers (and several of other brands), all bought new, and seen the warming plate coating on every single one begin to flake off within a year, allowing the plate to start rusting. In fact, that seems to be so of every drip coffeemaker I’ve ever seen; if it’s been in use for a while, its warming plate will be discolored with rust, no matter how clean it’s kept. Presumably, underneath the plates’ coating on all these machines there has been plain carbon steel. Yet, Braun uses stainless steel for much of this machine’s exterior—so far as I can tell, ferritic stainless for the sides and austenitic for the top. Why doesn’t it make the warming plate out of austenitic stainless too? Presumably, the plate is cut and formed from a sheet and doesn’t undergo much fabrication, and austenitic steel, after all, is freely available in sheet form. With its high chrome content, such a warming plate would probably stay free of rust under most conditions a home kitchen coffeemaker faces, at only a slightly higher total build cost. If it wished, Braun could still coat stainless warming plates the same as it does plain steel ones. Better, though, that it not do so, since that coating inevitably peels off in time, and in many cases it wouldn’t even have to bother, since this and many of its other coffeemaker models have stainless steel exteriors anyway. The same goes for other manufacturers’ coffeemakers. And, if austenitic steel won’t do the job, then duplex or, better, super duplex stainless are also sold in sheets, and they resist corrosion exceptionally well. Using either of them would still probably raise the whole machine’s marginal cost only modestly. But Braun and the other companies don’t do it. Haven’t they learned their lesson yet? I have long wondered about this, especially since stainless steel has become so common on household appliances and kitchen goods. After all, pots and pans, cooling racks, baking sheets, the liners of clothes washing and dishwashing machines, and the bodies of refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, microwave ovens, range hoods, and so forth are today many or most of them made of stainless. Broil King, known for its gas grills, even makes a 300-watt food warming tray with a stainless surface. But coffeemaker warming plates languish in carbon steel instead, and they rust. Again, I don’t want to single Braun out for this shortcoming, which seems to be universal. It’s not just a matter of looks, either, for a rusty warming plate is said to transfer heat inefficiently. It’s unlikely that making the plate out of stainless instead of carbon steel would cause that same problem of reduced heat transfer, since there are many stainless teakettles. At least commercial coffeemakers, like Bunn’s, seem to have warming plates that are replaceable, but why should anyone have to replace the plate in the first place unless its electric coil fails? It’s as if the manufacturers are all trying to drive their customers to buy a new coffeemaker every couple of years, rather than accept one with unsightly patches of rust on its base. So, Braun, a market leader in quality coffeemaker design, ought to follow the model of, say, Apple, where Steve Jobs set the industry standard for smartphone manufacture at its outset when, knowing how easily plastic scuffs and scratches, he defied his subordinates to demand that Apple’s phone screens be made of glass. Other manufacturers followed suit with their own phones, and we’re all better off for it. Appliances, after all, ought to be built to last, and Braun knows that, because it’s designed this otherwise-excellent machine to signal the user for periodic cleaning cycles. Let Braun take the lead here and build their coffeemakers with an eye to durability in all respects. I love this one otherwise and expect to use it for many years. But the warming plate should not rust!

It has a charcoal filter that makes the coffee so clean and fresh tasting and with no sludge! It is so easy to use and to clean.     I bought this Braun coffee maker in September 2018. I use it every day and it’s still working perfectly. It makes good coffee which stays hot for a long time. I’ve gone through a number of coffee makers over the years, all makes and models, and this has been the best one by far. My only quibble is, after 5 years, the letters on some of the buttons had worn off so I had to dig out the manual to change the time, and the water can dribble if you don’t pour it in slowly at first, but these are minor issues.

    This is an attractive, sleek appliance. Easy to use. Easy to clean. And the coffee is very hot and flavorful. Auto shut off is great – because my husband and I wake up and different times so we often forget. The carafe pours smoothly without spills. We have not noticed any condensation along the front panel as it brews. Even if it only works for a year or so – well worth the price. Recommend.     Avoid Braun products. Our Mr Coffee lasted 4 years and this expensive Braun broke in 3 months of use. No repair option. No return option. No customer support. I finally had a ticket bot automated to a guy who told me to cut the cord off and take pictures NO RESPONSE.
