   I was blown away by the speed in which this coffee maker brews a pot of coffee!
   Absolutely nails it on speed, taste and ease. The temperature will be slightly less than boiling point. So if you need to cool your coffee down to drink it you may be pleasantly surprised… Myself, I like a hot cup of coffee but am happy
   with the temperature be it just slightly cooler. Keep in mind it is brewing at the proper temperature to achieve full flavour. It was an upgrade for us and am very happy we did it!

   After years of of buying your typical “Mr Coffee” type of coffee makers that would last a few years and burn out I really wanted something of a quality brand. Working in various offices my whole career the brand Bunn has always been a brand of quality and durability to me. I ordered this in April of 2017. I wanted time to go by before I wrote a review. I paid $82.95 from coffeemakers.us.com. Arrived quick in a very nice presentation packaging. Kind of like when you first get an Apple product. They put a lot into the packaging. This unit is unique in that it has a reservoir tank which keeps the water constantly hot via a separate on off switch on the left side of the unit. I believe the theory is that hot water is ready to go to make a quick pot in a few minutes rather than having to wait for water to get hot. Well, here the problem with that along with a lot of other annoying issues… The reservoir tank – if you don’t turn it off it’ll evaporate the water and the unit is always on. You may say “well then shut it off dummy!”. Okay, I turn it off but get up in the morning only to turn it back on and wait 20 minutes for it to heat up. Yes, 15-20 minutes the directions says so now my coffee will take as long as 24 minutes to brew. Does not lock the pot in place – on standard coffee makers when you slide the pot on the heat pad it’ll lock itself which assures alignment with the coffee basket. This Bunn does not have that. It’s a visual alignment. The pot if off by a half inch will make the coffee miss the pot’s hole just for it to trickle to the side (as seen in my pictures). A lot of the times you may not even notice it’s slightly off. Also, without this position lock you’re unable to pull the pot out while it’s filling to pour a quick cup. Mostly all standard coffee makers have this feature where when the pot is removed the coffee basket hole closes. In addition, when the coffee is done in the three minutes (assuming the reservoir has hot water in it) you can’t just simply pull the pot out. Why? Because coffee is still slowly dripping out of the coffee basket. You need to pull both the basket and pot out at the same time. I typically hook the handle of the basket over the middle wall of my sink, let it cool down then dump the access coffee down the drain. If you’re wondering what the taste of the coffee is. To me no different than any other machine I’ve had that also had a reusable filter like this Bunn does. As far as durability and aesthetics it gets a thumbs up. It seems to be constructed well. Overall I regret buying this unit. I find myself waiting more, cleaning under it all the time and not always getting a full amount of liquid because it evaporated. Being that it’s twice the price of a conventional average coffee maker it’s just not worth it. I’ll eventually replace this one.

   We have retirees who volunteer at our church and they love their coffee. Our old Bunn had to be retired after many years. They really like the new pot, especially the plastic over the spout – it keeps the coffee from spilling while pouring. The location of the main power switch means that sometimes the machine gets turned off (instead of just turning off the burner). Then, when it’s turned back on, the water is cold. Might be better if the switch was on the back of the unit, rather than the side.

   This is my daily coffee maker. Overall, performance has been great. I just noticed this morning a 3” long crack starting to form at the bottom edge of the glass carafe. I just called Bunn to see if there’s any kind of warranty and they let me know that the carafe’s are not part of the manufacturers warranty and that I’d just have to buy a replacement. I know Bunn used to be known for their outstanding products with a long working life, but 5 months hardly seems worth any price tag for these guys. Looks like it’ll be $24.14 for the replacement. Bummer

   The best cup of drip coffee you can make at home. The person who wrote the setup instructions deserves an award for clarity. Even a dummy like me who struggles to follow instructions can set this machine up easily and error free.

   Pros: Best drip coffee you can drink at home. It rivals the coffee served by the best restaurants and diners. Fast brewing. A full pot of coffee brews in 2 to 3 minutes.

   Cons: If you live in an area with soft water, you must call Bunn to obtain a flow restrictor or use a coarser grind of coffee. Note, coarser grind affects the taste. Bunn will ship the flow restrictor to you free of charge but it is basically a 10 cent piece of plastic which should be included in the box. While you wait 2 or 3 days for the flow restrictor to arrive, remove the existing spray nozzle and break off a toothpick in one of the holes. This temporary measure solves the problem but gives your coffee a slight “tooth picky” taste.

   Still, if you like a morning cup of coffee this machine is worth the price.

    Best coffee pot I’ve ever owned. I read a ton of reviews. Decided to order in spite of them. The two legitimate issues people have mentioned (disregarding the ones who simply don’t understand how it works, FYI if you read the instructions it’s easy) are the pouring issue for the carafe and the splashing of grounds which do not appear to be an issue any longer. People mentioned having to ask company for an extender, per the pic I’m including it appears they have fixed that as mine has it built in to the lid of the carafe. As far as the grounds going over the edge because of how fast the coffee sprays out, I took that seriously as I was gonna search for a reusable filter. I have not used a paper one so I can’t speak to that but, I did find a filter from the Összefut store here and it works perfectly. Folks said coffee needs to be ground differently from store bought but I have not had a problem with store ground coffee using this filter and we use a whopping 5 scoops. No grounds have gone over the edge at all. Coffee is fast, very hot and clean tasting. Highly recommend this coffee maker.

    Let me start by saying how much I love this machine! Coffee in three minutes… What is not to love? However, I want to recommend that you clean your machine often! I’ve had this machine since January, use it daily, but decided that maybe it needed a thorough cleaning today. I ran a pot of bleach through it, and this was the result. I have been having some stomach trouble for the last month, checked online and saw that other people have thought that maybe it was their coffee maker. After looking at this pot of brown water, I think maybe they are right.

    I’ve had 3 Bunn-O-Matic brewers over the last 20 years. One was a “New” one from the 80s that was never used (Brown with the wallpaper looking plaid design on the water heater area), a newer one from a few years back, and now this one. Overall I’m still happy with the brand and product, but this newest model includes a carafe that i really don’t like. Fortunately I still have my old carafe. Pros: + all the models make great coffee very quickly. + Instant very hot water for other uses: — I often use the instant hot water for other things too like Tea, or having water almost boil temp ready for pasta or rice, and not just for coffee brewing. + Lever in the lid that holds the water in place before brewing so if needed, you can use the carafe as the thing to pour water in (Though, from older models, i have a plastic container I used to pour water into the brewer with the carafe ready to accept the coffee) + Vacation switch, though I’m used to just unplugging it from the older models. Cons: – New Carafe is my least favorite thing: — requires the funnel to be in place for all scenarios (The older wider mouth carafe could collect the hot water without using the coffee stained funnel), and off-centered placement can lead to nasty cleanup. – First timers may have a messy cleanup due to the Funnel overflowing if using too much water, coffee grounds, or too fine of coffee grounds. The water is dispensed quickly and has a chance of backing up inside the funnel if there are too many/too fine grounds in the filter/funnel. – No option for timer with the heat plate. Tips: – There’s No overflow protection. I don’t know of a coffee brewer that has such a thing, but that’d be my only suggestion to improve the brewer unit. Here are tips to avoid it: – Brew about half a pot at a time (brew 2 full halves if you want) until you’re comfortable with the amount of grounds you use and water passing through. If you use 1/2 cup or less of grounds or course grounds, you will be fine to brew a whole pot at a time. – If you use more than 1/2 cup of grounds and/or you use fine grounds… DO NOT brew more than 1/2 a pot at a time, this will give time for the water in the filter to drain before you start again. It will take the same amount of time overall but without the mess of the coffee-water overflowing at the funnel and spilling all over the place.

    I bought this model originally May 2020. No issues until about March 2022. I figured it was the machine, so we replaced it with the same model as we really like it in April 2022. Almost immediately had the same issue. So we figured maybe we were doing something different/wrong after over 30 years of drinking/making coffee. One day I bought a different brand of coffee from the store because I ran out of the brand I subscribed to, Black Rifle. No explosive grounds the first time, still tended to ride up the sides, but not a huge mess. So then, we thought, maybe Black Rifle changed their grounds up and I stopped our subscription with them. Still wanting a better quality coffee, we tried a couple of better quality brands off the shelf and decided to grind them ourselves. Every day, no matter how course or fine we would grind the grounds, 90% of the time we deal with the mess shown in the pictures. Since this occurs with multiple coffee brands as well as different grind courses, it has to be the machine. I grabbed an old cusinart out of the basement… no mess. Which stinks because now I have to wait almost 10-15 minutes for a pot rather than under 2mi.

    After using our Bunn for a couple of weeks now, we are pleased with it overall and it does make a good cup of coffee. Pros: Fast, quiet, and user friendly. Love the fact that it fills from the front. The decanter is truly non-drip. NOT a negative for us: Yes, as some have mentioned this coffee maker does require Bunn (slightly larger) filters, but that is no big deal to my way of thinking. We are coffee lovers and spend a few extra bucks for better coffee anyway, and the filters are available almost everywhere. If economy is what’s important, than one should be looking at the ubiquitous “Mister” brand $15 coffee pot anyway, right? Cons: I should have taken more seriously what some other reviewers when they say “your whole house will smell like hot plastic for a few days”! Had I realized just how strong the smell is, I would have set up the Bunn in our garage and used it there for the first several days! Thankfully the smell has now subsided. I knocked off 1 star because of this. The only other shortcoming that we’ve encountered so far is that brewing (only) 6 cups of decaf coffee almost overflowed the filter; I’m sure had we brewed more cups at one time it would have overflowed. Looking in the troubleshooting guide, Bunn states that if you use decaf coffee OR have soft water, you will need a special restrictor-type spray head. Well guess what – we also have a water softener! We contacted Bunn and they cheerfully and quickly sent 2 restrictor heads at no charge. I’m guessing that the reason they supplied 2 heads is that with smaller holes, it will become plugged-up more quickly; we’ll see. It’s simple to change-out the head, just unscrew it with your fingers and screw the new one back in. And it did solve the problem at least for brewing 6 cups, as we haven’t tried a full pot yet. However, it does slow-down the brewing process, taking about 5 1/2 minutes vs. 3. That in itself is no big deal since that’s still fairly quick. But it does partially negate Bunn’s premise on why a Bunn makes such good coffee – that the pre-heated water flows quickly through the filtered coffee grounds so as not to remain in the filter basket long enough for the grounds to make the coffee bitter. Seems to me that since the restricted spray head slows down the brewing process, water now stays in the grounds a little longer now. And although our coffee still tastes good, it was slightly better with the original spray head. I see that some peeps are concerned about the electricity cost for the coffee maker to have the water preheated all day/night. I chose to put ours on a “smart plug” that turns it off/on. I schedule it to turn on at 5 am, and then off at 9 am. The plug is controlled via a phone app, and costs $8 at coffeemakers.us.com: https://www.coffeemakers.us.com.com/dp/B091699Z3W?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1 I ran some calculations of the electricity usage and costs, using a Kill-A-Watt meter. Leaving it on all day and night uses 0.84 kWh per day. We make two 6-cup pots of coffee each morning. With my 4 hour “on” schedule, it uses 0.38 kWh. per day. My electricity rate is 10.2 cents per kWh. Other common rates in my state are 11, 12, 13, and 14 cents. I’ve attached a table reflecting those rates and the respective costs. Note that the coffee maker takes about 11 minutes to heat the water from a cold start. So if you choose to leave it turned off until you’re ready to brew coffee, it will obviously use much less electricity. But for us, and with the smart plug, the convenience of being able to quickly brew a pot is worth the small cost. Hope this helps. Sidenote: Bunn should make the restrictor spray head available as an optional component when ordering the coffee maker, depending on one’s intended use of decaf and/or softened water. But if you feel that you will need it, I suggest that calling Bunn and requesting the restrictor head immediately after ordering the coffee maker; they required no proof of purchase and no product date code, only the model number “GRB”. Phone 800-352-BUNN In summary, if this coffee maker lasts a few years we’ll be very happy. And if it doesn’t, we may buy another one anyway :>)

    This BUNN GRB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer is definitely different from any other coffee maker we have used. I read through multiple reviews and took a leap of faith with the purchase. So far, so good. Read the reviews, instructions, and hints, which were so helpful. Since this is used a lot in commercial locations, I understand why the burner plate needs to remain on constantly, to keep coffee hot. But for home use, an automatic timer cutoff would be so nice. The burner plate also should hold the coffee at a hotter temperature. Like our previous makes of coffeepots, we have to ‘nuke’ our coffee for a few seconds in the microwave to get it hot enough for our liking. We also don’t like having the two switches on 24/7 since we only drink coffee in the morning. Our solution is to turn them both off after the last cup, so the pot is off the remainder of the day. Then when we prepare the coffee the night before, in preparation for the next morning, we turn the side switch on, so the reservoir water heats up during the night, keep the front water lid up until morning, so brewing is held off. In the morning, close the water lid and turn the burner switch on and 4 minutes later, coffee is ready. Thats a fast brew!

    This is the worst bun coffee maker I’ve ever had. It explodes coffee grounds everywhere overflows it’s a total mess. Here is a photo of my last pot, but this is not even the worst one.     well, i had the same issue a lot of folks on here had. it overflowed grounds all over the place when brewing. heres the simple solution. If you look at my attached picture, you see the valve plunger (white stem) coming out of the water feed. in the picture mine has already been trimmed, but if you look at yours youll see that the untrimmed stem has an obvious “skinny” bit at the top. Cut off the skinny bit so the stem is uniform, problem solved. In my opinion it still comes out a bit quick but dosnt overflow (with 6 scoops of coffee). you could tri it a bit more to slow it down a little more. All that stem is is a lever for the valve, so when you trim it, it opens the valve to a lesser degree. Great coffee maker after ya figure that bit out!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I’m not sure there is such a thing as a perfect coffee maker. But the Bunn comes pretty close. Will brew you a pot of coffee FAST. It is a brand you can trust, and so far it is reliable. I like a strong cup of coffee and use filtered water, but this led to a big coffee ground mess and spills on the counter. As many have suggested, you will NEED to call them up and ask for a flow restrictor spray head. This is the primary reason I give 4 stars out of 5 – this unit is incomplete without one. Why they force their customers to take this extra step is beyond me. Worth noting that it was extremely easy and their customer service was fast and friendly. The new spray head does slow down the time it takes to brew coffee, but not too significantly. The Bunn is a worthy upgrade over cheaper competitors, and I do recommend this item, with the aforementioned caveats.

    I really like my Bunn Coffee maker. Have used them for years. The carafe that came with my coffee maker is really strange. It only cover 1/2 of the pot and has like a split tongue to pour through. When the water goes into the carafe, if it is not place just perfectly under the spout, the coffee runs everywhere.     Just a few things I feel should be pointed out for the average consumer. The biggest change we noticed right away is the warming plate; with your typical at home coffee maker, you can “feel “the warming plate when you set your carafe in it to know it’s in place. You don’t have that with this machine, so you just need to be careful that it’s underneath the dripper, which is a good size so it’s kind of hard to miss. But something to know. Two- if you have a member of the family who might not pay attention quite as much, you have to maybe make them a cheat sheet like I did that says “filter in, water in, carafe under, close the lid. “ lol. It is a great function that it has the hot water ready to go at all times, but if you close that lead even two seconds before the carafe is under, you’ll have coffee on your warming plate. But aside from that, if you are looking for a nice, quick, not too big in size coffee maker to make a hot pot of coffee for every day use, this is it! I loved my flex brew system, but it was taking over 15 minutes to make a bowl pot of coffee. At 6 AM with an 18 month old… I just need my coffee! LOL Enjoy!

    I’ve had 3 different Keurig’s in 4 years. They never last. I’ve bought cheap Mr Coffees to make due until I could buy another Keurig. Meanwhile, my parents have had the same Bunn for 10 years. So finally I just decided to spend a few extra dollars, and get the Bunn I’ve wanted for a while. The only thing I would change is an automatic shutoff, because obviously I’m used to brewing and going with Keurig. 10/10 recommend the Bunn over anything else. Especially, any Keurig.

    I ordered this mighty little machine 5 years ago for my boyfriend for Christmas and it is still kicking. We have moved 4x since getting it and all is still great. Brews excellent coffee quickly, warmer plate keeps it nice and hot, and I clean it regularly- which is easy to do. The visual alignment of the carafe has never bothered us and the basket has never overflowed. This coffee maker really is still just like new and we love it. Keep the book on hand as it is useful to help you keep your machine like new when cleaning, emptying, or troubleshooting. In other recent reviews, I notice it seems Bunn has made a few updates, including changing the carafe, so I have included some photos of my model if this is the case. I am actually deep cleaning it now so will also show the mechanism under the lid. Happy brewing, all!
