   *EDIT: They replaced the carafe! I had no idea what was in the box waiting at my door. I didn’t remember ordering anything but, who knows? Imagine my surprise to find a new carafe was sent to me just like that. I’m a happy customer!* I had to give it 2 stars because the carafe cracked after less than one month of light use. Otherwise, I would give it 4 stars. If their customer service is any good and they replace the carafe, I will edit and re-rate my review. Customer service is everything. The coffee maker is decent, but I am reserving my opinion until they either replace it or they don’t. I bought it in late December last year (approximately 20 days ago) and I brewed only four pots and twelve single servings of coffee. My feeling is that if they replace the carafe, it is worth the money, if they don’t and I have to buy a $30 replacement carafe, it is not worth the money. I sent a message to their replacement/returns email today so we will see. I will check back and change my review accordingly. To be clear, this is a good coffee maker except for the cracked carafe. I was pleased to find a machine that doesn’t use pods and doesn’t need additional filters on either the carafe or the single serve side. I mean it brews coffee that doesn’t taste funny and doesn’t leak on the counter, how bad can it be? It isn’t a high end “espresso-type” machine, and it doesn’t froth anything, but it reliably makes decent coffee with no fuss. To me, that is worth the money I paid, if they replace the carafe. There is no reason the carafe should have cracked other than a manufacturer or a shipping problem.

   This is the 2nd time I have purchased this coffee maker. Not because mine quit, no, because I love it so much I ordered one for my son! Let me tell you what I love: Using the single serve side to make: a mug of hot chocolate, a bowl of Ramen noodles, or just get boiling hot water while making instant potatoes (easy peasy, no using the stove top). You can also use it for coffee, but the grandkids use it to make ramen noodles by themselves (with supervision of course, the water is hot). I hope they never stop making this coffee maker!

   This is made nicely and is attractive. There hasn’t been any leaking and it function nicely. I mostly use the individual side and I love how easy it is to fill and clean. This is fairly quiet and simple to use. A nice gift idea. My only negative is it comes with a few paper filters that have no shape once they arrive. A better idea would be to place them in the filter basket.

   I’m loving my new coffee pot.. originally a few days after I first started using it, my coffee pot copped an attitude, the brew option “bold brew” button stopped working and the clock panel was glitching out, I waited a few days to see if it would correct itself before I hit the return button. Note: Luckily the seller /coffeemakers.us.com was kind enough to send me a replacement quickly.. Before the replacement arrived, I continued to use the one I had and was primarily using the multi pot option till one day I needed a quick single serve (first time using that function). And to my surprise after using that option my pot decided to correct its attitude and starting working properly again.. I used it for an addition two weeks and never had to switch out machines with the replacement .. coffee is hot and flavorful, and the single serve option is nice to have for that quick caffeine fix. Some comments I read stated that the pot brewed slow.. which maybe that’s true, it is a little on the slower side but that doesn’t bother me.. it’s not like I’m sitting watching it brew, I go about my business and come back a few minutes later to a pot of hot liquid gold.. highly recommend

   So, like you all ,I’ve been a coffeeholic for many years. Like you ,I’ve struggled to have a decent maker in my kitchen. I recently finished up with my Cuisinart mod#CHW-12. Had it for 5yrs. It got to point of no longer producing a well tasting cup. We did the Vinigar cleaning etc. So, i spent MANY hours searching online for a decent Maker. Problem was the abundance of poor reviews encompassing many manufacturers! It’s now 2018 and we have trouble creating a Kit Coffee Brewer thats decent! I did a switch and desired a maker that will produce a single cup as wife n i both have coffee at different times and mostly need the one 16oz cup. In searching for the 12cup Carafe / or single cup Maker ,my choices became limited. Read the reviews and pulled the trigger on this. It’s only been 1wk now but i can honestly state that it is the BEST maker I’ve ever used! I ran a full 12cup Carafe first off, thn dumped. Then did same for the single cup side. ( full 14oz). Then ran 12cups clean water through for both. Then did the Coffee that I’ll drink. No issues. Had to play round wth the exact amount of grounds for the single side so to get the outcome i desired. Has clock, easy to pre prog., and, the single side will turn off when done. The Carafe side will stay on (hot plate) for 2hrs after brewing complete. You can simply press On/Off button to turn off anytime. For those who have an over-spilling issue with the grounds within the gold filter basket?, you are using TOO MANY grounds! The single side comes with a gold reusable filter which also encompasses two – Level markers. One is min and the other is Max. If you fill above the Max level, WELL, overflow of grounds will prob. occur. On the coffeemakers.us.com site you’ll see the Reusable filter for the Carafe side in ” frequently ordered with”. I also ordered that as i don’t like paper filters. It performs well. Water level for Carafe is helpful. It’s towards the right rear, on the side. It’s accurate. Brew time for 12 cups was good. I’ve learned to warm up my Mug when using single side as it is not as hot as Carafe as no hot plate for the Mug. I use single side to run water for tea as well. What would make this model perfect? If it sounded out a tone when brewing is complete. It also has No charcoal filter as with my Cuisinart. No biggie as i always have used filtered water to begin with. Coffee is better when there’s no Chlorine in the H2O! Filling either the Carafe or single side is easy and Max level markers are visible enough to get it right. Carafe pours very well and i like that the Carafe lid stays attached as u simply press thumb to open but it’s not required to pour. Single side grounds chamber pulls out easily. Single side has a bottom (under mug/cup) that reverses to then become a elevator to bring cup higher if you’d like. I brewed a cup at lowest level without any spill or splatter. It drips slow enough that i don’t believe i need to elevate my mug. This model also looks fantastic, Beautiful! Has a “Bold” brew mode for both Carafe n Sing. The brewing is slower, so u gt a richer brew. Light on clock only on when unit is ON. Has seperate green light that indicates you are using “Program” mode. I don’t use “Pods” but if i did the manual states that “Senseo” Pods will work. Note that unit will only brew one side at a time. It cannot brew both sides at once. Very pleased so far. If any issues I’ll update here. P.s. if Manufacturer reads this, you may want to consider modifying so to have an end of brew audible tone! Jst a thought. Update!; 1/5/18. Jst did 2 Lg mugs for me ( nine- 8oz cups), using Carafe of course. Wife then needed to do her single 14oz using of course the Single serv side. When throwing the slide switch over to Single, it turns off the Carafe side. So, yeah, hot plate under Carafe is still hot, but, it’s now off. So, in future, wife does her single, first, then i do Carafe. UPDATE ; 1/22/18- 3wks now and NO ISSUES! When removing coffee filled Carafe, absolutely no spilling onto hot plate. The spring loaded valve above, performing well. Reviewers having the Hot plate discoloration or burning may be turning unit on with a Hot plate thats dirty. I make sure plate is clean /dry before and after ea. use. I make sure bottom of Carafe is clean/ dry as well. Wife using single serve ea. day and says ” best cup of Coffee ever”! Update; 4/17/21. NO issues, all still good. UPDATE!!! – 10/10/21- So, finally I’m now considering buying a new one of these as this one is intermittently not pumping enough water up and into Coffee basket. About 12× now in past 6mon’s I’ve had to pour out Carafe into another cup, place Carafe back, then pour my Coffee,(that looks like Tea), into the grinds basket and do a Double Drip, sometimes twice to get color I wish. I got roughly 3.5 years out of this Maker. I guess that’s good considering Everything’s made in Cheapo China. If/when I buy a new one, I’ll post back. Have a good Coffee! UPDATE: 11/14/21. So, I purchased this exact model once again on 10/12/21. After 1 month, I can honestly state that it’s a great difference between original and new. New machine brews perfectly as did the original one up until the 3yr mark. No issues to report with this New Maker( Same model as first one). Pictures here are of 2nd maker,(2021).

   Wish there was a water filter, and a way to see how much water was in the single serve side. There is a water level indicator for the carafe side, which is great! Program feature is very easy to use, you don’t need the manual to figure any of it out. Overall though, this coffee machine is perfect and works like a charm. It’s a great value for the price. I bought a reusable coffee filter for the carafe side that works great with this machine. Fit just fine 🙂

    This is a very slow drip coffee maker, especially the single serve option. It also makes a mess depending upon the cup used, mostly a regular 8oz size. It is a basic coffee maker & does not beep when done, or have settings for # of cups to be made in the carafe. You must make sure you only put the amount of cups wanted in the reservoir. Downgraded to this type maker due to the expense of kcups. The adjustment is worth it, though minus this product. Would not buy this particular model again.

The price point, the pot functionality and the fact that you can make just one cup as well, without a pod or K cup, or filter.     I’m writing this review mere 8+ years later. I decided I wanted to buy a new coffee maker with fancier features such as espresso maker and built in grinder and I’m finding out from reviews they don’t make quality coffee makers like my current HB product unless I’m willing to spend $500+. Almost 9 years and my Hamilton Beach (HB) coffee maker has not disappointed me once. I’ve moved 6 times in past 8+ years and this coffee maker has moved with me each time. Whenever my brother and dad visits, they always plead that I brew some coffee as they always enjoy my coffee. That’s how good tasting coffee comes out from my HB. Of course, I regularly descale my machine and I do use quality grounds, so that also influences the quality of the coffee taste. All in all, I’m finding it hard to push myself to purchase a fancier machine since my HB is still going strong and brews great coffee on both the single serve and carafe side. It’s just showing its age now as the stainless steel portion on the single serve side is very slowly peeling away, but not even noticeable, likely from the heat exposure while brewing. I love that it’s programable and I can set it ahead of time to brew when I need it.

    This coffee maker has the most unnecessarilly bright “brew later” light. It’s like laser beams trying to take out my eyeballs. It actually kinda hurts your eyes if you look right at it, why is it so bright? Overall it’s a solid coffee maker. I don’t know if it’s worth $70, it seems like a lot but I guess a lot of coffee makers are expensive for no reason. Pros: The single brew basket, I use that daily. It’s easy to use and program. Basically the whole reason I bought this one. Cons: The blinding laser beam light. For the carafe pot, the water tank hole is so small to pour through, I wasn’t even sure I was actually pouring it in the right spot because it’s so awkward. It’s on the bigger side, so it’s not the best for a small kitchen space, which I have, but that’s more a me problem. Idk, honestly it’s a good coffee maker and it works like any drip brew coffee maker would, but I found myself not loving it for what I paid. I went back and forth on returning it but ended up keeping it because there wasn’t really another one I wanted. It’s been working fine, I haven’t had issues.

    This the best coffee pot I’ve ever owned, seriously. I appreciate good coffee and regularly buy beans from a local roastery. I am not a barista nor do I claim to be a coffee expert. I enjoy good coffee and a drip coffee maker is good enough for my daily habit. This maker can be used to brew single cups on one side or a full pot on the other side. Typically, I am the only coffee drinker in my house. Sometimes we have guests. This coffee maker allows me to serve both situations easily. To use the single serve side, I fill the cup that I’m planning to use with the correct amount of tap water and add it to the single serve side of the maker. This is accessed from the top under a small lid that flips up. This side is designed to only hold enough water for a single serve amount of water. I don’t use manufactured pods as I prefer fresh grounds but this maker apparently can handle pods too. I grind my beans or use pre-ground coffee and add that to the slide out tray on the single serve side just above the cup location. There is a metallic mesh screen that holds the grounds on the single serve side and I find that I waste less coffee than when I try to make only 1 or 2 cups in a large pot. The single serve side has a nested set of plastic circles that sits under a tall mug when not needed. These little circular risers can be un-nested and stacked to allow a shorter cup to be closer to the dripping coffee (see photos). This allows the maker to accommodate a variety of sizes of cups. The single serve side takes about 2 minutes to brew. I think the coffee tastes great and I can control the strength of the brew based upon how many grounds I add. The full carafe side is much like any basic drip-coffee maker. There’s a small reservoir that holds enough water to brew a full pot of coffee. There’s a flip lid and a basket for coffee grounds. You can use paper filters or buy a separate metallic, re-usable mesh filter that fits inside this basket. I like these baskets as it’s less wasteful than using paper filters daily and I don’t have to remember to constantly purchase filters. I’ve used the same mesh filter for over 7 years now. It doesn’t filter as finely as paper filters do and the last sip of coffee contains a small amount of grit / sediment but this seems normal to me now. If someone doesn’t like this idea than I would warn them not to drink the last sip. It’s pretty easy to avoid. The coffee maker has a very obvious and easy to use manual switch that selects whether you are brewing a full pot or a single serve. Only one side can be used at a time. You simply move the switch to the left or right as the illustrations show to select which side you wish to utilize. I frequently use the timer feature. Prior to work I have one 16 oz metal travel mug filled, warm and waiting for me when I wake up in the morning. The display is bright when you touch a button and dims to normal again after about 30 seconds so it doesn’t light up the kitchen at night like a beacon. There is a single bright green LED light that indicates that the timer is set and ready to go. Personally, I like this feature as it is an obvious acknowledgment that the timer is ready to go at the time that I programmed in. Some might find this too bright but it’s hard to imagine it being a nuisance to most people. Other reviewers have indicated the their carafe broke instantly upon the first use. I’ve used my carafe several times without issues. I also noticed that a new pot is around $10 so if it does break down the road, I can probably replace it easily. Some said that it tastes like plastic, I haven’t experienced this. Some said that it leaks after 3 months – I’ll try to update this review later but so far so good – no leaks. Others say it takes too long to brew. I think it takes about as long to make coffee as every other coffeepot that I have owned and if you set it up the night before, you won’t have to wait for it. It can be ready for you whenever you tell it to be ready. I even read that some people were annoyed that they had to slide the coffee pot out from under a counter in order to add water to the top of the coffee maker. I once added felt pads to the bottom of a coffee maker to make this process easier. Without a dedicated water line and a commercial coffee apparatus, I’m not sure how the manufacturer would avoid this overly burdensome task. You have to add water somehow; that’s how coffee works. I have not had any negative issues at all with this coffee maker and I’ve been using it daily for over 1 month. It’s easy to use, it’s easy to program and I like that I can make a full pot or single cup depending on my needs. I definitely recommend this unit.

    I needed a new coffee maker since my current one decided to die. I bought this over the Ninja coffee makers. This had less hazardous reviews! I was shocked! So, this arrived, through the carafe in the dishwasher, once that was clean, I ran two pots of water through the maker just to clean it and remove any possible plastic taste you may get when using this for the first time. I love how this looks! It’s not as big as a thought it was gonna be which I was very happy about! The blue light DOES TURN OFF which was an amazing thing! (We all know now that kitchen appliances seem to have the brightest light!!) the only thing is, the SUPER bright green light that comes on when you set it to program, I have to put a hand towel over it but that’s not a deal breaker by any means. I highly recommend this coffee maker!!

    I bought this coffee pot because my expensive Kurieg coffeemaker died! It was my 2nd one that I had purchased and I wanted to get away from using the expensive Kurieg pods, but still enjoy a fast cup of coffee! With this one I would also have the option of a full pot if needed! At first I was a bit disappointed because I couldn’t find filters that would fit on the single cup size. I was tearing larger filters in half and folding over the excess, but it was messy as grounds still escaped. Not tearing the filter in half and just twisting it closed as some suggest, to me, just slowed the brewing time down as it took forever for it to stop dripping due to the amount of paper the water had to drip through. So, I ordered a small box of the senseo type “fill your own pod” filters. I thought the sealer that you need to use to seal these pods was way too expensive! I read that a lot of folks were sealing the pods with an iron and making up a large batch of pods at a time, so I decided to give that option a try. I found a canning ring (someone suggested this) and it worked well as a base. I proceeded to fill 30 pods, some with regular grounds for my morning/early afternoon coffee and some with decaf for evening cups or for my friends and family who need decaf. This seemed to go well and I finished pretty quickly and was feeling optimistic! But when I started to put them in snack size ziplock bags, two per bag, to keep them fresh, grounds started escaping from the pods! I had to start resealing with the iron all the leaking pods! I was starting to get tired of fooling with all this, and thinking I did not want to have to do this every time I needed more pods! I started using the pods I had made, putting them in the little pod holder that snaps in over the permanent filter that came with the pot. I was disappointed because the pod seemed to shift to the side when the water dripped. This meant that the water was only utilizing a small part of the grounds and the coffe was weak. Not good for me because I like a strong cup! What to do? I thought maybe a smaller basket filter that wouldn’t have so much paper to fold over would be better, so I looked for some of those at the supermarket, but couldn’t find any. I looked on coffeemakers.us.com and they have them but I found they were expensive and I wasn’t really sure that option would work to my satisfaction either. So back to my refillable pods! I tried putting the pods directly into the permanent filter but didn’t want to remove the pod holder because I actually had a box of prefilled pods that I had bought by mistake sometime back that my husband was using up, so I left it in and just let it sit over the pod I filled myself. Bingo! Much better! The pod holder kept the homemade pod in place and the coffee was stronger! But there was still the issue of all the work I had gone through to make those pods! So I decided to experiment with not actually sealing them. I put an empty pod in the bottom of the permanent filter, leaving the flap opened so I could fill it with my grounds. After putting in the grounds I flipped the flap over the grounds and then let the pod holder sit on top of the unsealed pod. Brewed my cup on the bold setting and anxiously awaited the results! I am pleased to say it worked perfectly! I had a good, strong cup of coffee and no grounds in my cup! Now to check the difficulty in removing the used grounds and unsealed filter. Hummm! If you try to lift it out, you will have a mess! To avoid a mess I simply grabbed the edge of the filter, standing over the garbage can, and SLID it sideways into to garbage can. No mess! I didn’t even have to rinse out the filter! Problem solved! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I had to go through all this to find my solution! No problems at all on the carafe side!

    I’m very happy with this purchase and I would recommend you buy this product. It works very well. I love having the option to make either a full pot or a single cup, and both options work perfectly. You can not use both at the same time, however, and the single cup device does NOT take K-Cups. You can NOT put a K-Cup in the holder because there is no mechanism to pierce the top, but you could open the K-Cup and put the coffee into the filter that comes with this machine since that is just the right amount to make one cup (approx 2 tbsp). I love the coffee pot because it doesn’t leak when you pour, and it feels sturdy enough to, possibly, survive a fall. The machine itself is also attractive and complements my kitchen counter.

    This is a really good coffee maker for the price. I started making my own coffee in an attempt to minimize waste with reducing the times I grab coffee outside (reusing same mug) and was not sure if I could get that same coffee taste I was used to. I also wanted to recreate that atmosphere with the smell and sound of coffee in the house 💕 I have been using the single cup several times per day for over a month now and I can only say “why I did not buy this coffee machine before?”… I am very happy about that option with mesh scoop instead of pods due to the plastic waste. I fill up my mug with water – so I get the exact measure I need – and pour it in the reservoir. The single serve brew basket has 2 markings: for 8oz and 14oz of coffee but I find them also helpful to remember how much ground coffee to use – I like it just in between the 8oz to 14oz for a large mug. I like the automatic shutoff and I find the coffee maker very easy to clean, I just wipe it with a well wrung out microfiber cloth and that’s it. So far, I have not used the full pot. I will update if I use it or there are any other comments to add.

    My Keurig died (after 6 months of use) and I was in need of a new coffee pot but didn’t want to go back to the expense of the kcups or short lived Keurig. After reading reviews and the option of brewing a full pot or single cup without kcups, I decided to get the Hamilton Beach model. As i was getting ready to boil water for my French press, I was excited to see the new coffee pot show up a day early. Yay no boiling water!! (I love my French press but it’s tiring boiling water everyday.) I was then very disappointed to find deep scratches across the top, small dents around the warming plate and the blue protective film had been pulled off already leaving blue strings hanging out all over. The shipping and manufacturer boxes were both undamaged, which leaves the pot to either have been a display item or used by someone else. If I had paid for a used item, I would not have minded the scratches and such, but I paid full price for an unused coffee pot. Not cool at all. I have not tried using it yet, other than plugging it in to see if it turned on. It did. So I can not attest to the functionality of the coffee pot. Decideding if I want to send this one back and then have to wait a week (yes…it’s a week wait now) for a replacement or go ahead and use this one and never buy Hamilton Beach again. I’ll decide after I’m done boiling water… UPDATE: After being tired of boiling more water, I decided to not deal with the hassle or the return process and wait another week for a new coffee pot. First I ran clean water through both sides and it worked good. Water was clean, which leads me to believe this was a display model rather than a used. (Still not happy about this.) Both making a full pot of coffee and the single serve work great. Hope it will last a long a time.

    I love everything about this coffee maker except the coffee temperature. It doesn’t get hot enough and when you add milk, it’s just about warm. I brewed with a thermometer in the cup and it didn’t get higher than 164°. Ultimately, coffee is perfect brewed between 190° & 205°. We were going to try to deal with the low temperature but decided that’s not going to be an enjoyable cup of Java. I’ve returned it and will try the Ninja CM401

    I bought one of these coffee makers 10-12 years ago and it worked perfectly until a few days ago. Perhaps my fault for not running descaler through it from time to time.

    I was thrilled to discover the model is still available. I had no issues whatsoever with the original machine. I love the option of a single brew which I use occasionally for myself and sometimes for someone who’s visiting who likes their coffee stronger or weaker.

    The controls are clean and simple. Love the 12-hour AM/PM clock.

    I’ve run the pot, basket and single cup components through the dishwasher countless times without any issues.

    I highly recommend this machine.

    Needed a coffee maker that is easy to use and makes good coffee and this product accomplishes it perfectly. The only thing I wished it had was a beeping tone when brewing is complete. If you need that, this model is not what you want. I thought that’s a standard feature but I guess not. All in all, it’s easy to use and brew a cup on the go or a pot of coffee.
