There was no rough treatment of the door that I am aware of. It’s working fine with a bit of duct tape (the handyman’s secret weapon), 😊 but I should not have to do that with a new appliance.

   Recently bought this coffee maker, I’m European, and I’m obsessed with coffee. I purchased another coffee maker months ago. But it only does 5 cups, and I like to drink more in the morning. So I decided to purchase another coffee maker, that has more cups of coffee. Saw this one and was like perfect! For some reason I go to brew coffee, it stops brewing, and then I have to lift the lit up, close it again all the way, and then it starts brewing again. I have to do this every time I make coffee. And it’s very annoying! I’ve never had a coffee maker stop halfway, then you got a lift the lid, close it again, and then it brews. So now I’ve reached out to the seller or the manufacturer and I’m hoping they can give me a replacement?! I shouldn’t have to lift the lid and then close it again in order to get the rest of my coffee. A coffee maker should brew all the way And it doesn’t matter how many cups you want.

   My coffee maker that I had for about a couple years had the carafe break while I was cleaning it. 😞. Off through the interview process of coffee makers. I’ve had good experience with Black and Decker products and ultimately chose this one. Wasn’t overly packed with plastic and was very easy to set up. Made my first pot this morning using the strong brew feature and the timed brew. Setting the timer was simple and easy to use. The coffee was not overly bitter and mellow flavor yet had enough kick to get me going. The filling and pouring is designed to pour towards the center. It’s a little different pour due the shape of the carafe Not a big deal. I would have liked a permanent filter included. Order one along with your purchase. For the price I think it’s a great value.

   I drink my coffee black, so taste wise on a scale of Keurig (1) to pour over (10), 10 being best, I rate this a 6-7. I’ve never owned a Black and Decker coffee maker, but I’ve had their toaster ovens for years, and thought I’d give it a try since I needed something that could make larger amounts of coffee at a time. I’m very glad I chose this unit. I think it looks really good in my kitchen and I like the size of the footprint. Features I like and use are brew strength, cleaning function, and the timer setting on the warming plate- which brings me to the 4 stars: I don’t know if it’s just my unit, but the plate runs so hot that after just 30 minutes, the coffee started tasting a little scorched. That’s not a deal breaker for me since I have a stainless carafe, but if you want to use the warmer, that’s a consideration. Otherwise, it makes really good coffee for an auto-drip. Some reviews complained about how the water goes in. I do have to pull it out from the wall and open the cabinet door above it, but that’s where I store all my coffee paraphernalia anyway, so not a big deal to me. Besides, I’m old enough to remember when the first Mr Coffees came out and between those first models and percolators, it’s something I’m used to doing since they all filled from the top. Cleaning: when I first got the coffee maker, the first few batches tasted appliance-y, so I had to do a cleaning cycle off the bat. That fixed the issue, so you might need to do that as well. The glass carafe, basket, and rest of unit are easy to clean. I just wipe down the inside of the lid and the shower head with a paper towel between cleaning/descaling cycles, and the unit looks like new. Given all the pros and cons, I think the pros win and recommend purchasing this coffee maker.

   This is a budget friendly coffee maker that requires filters. It is simple but it has a great drip system & it probably will outlast any $200+ coffee maker. It makes 12 cups & all you have to is add spring water, filter & preferred coffee & flip the red on button & it will brew 12 cups with in 10 or so minutes. It is a strongly made pot & maker & performs well. It is small enough it fits in my space but big enough for 12 cups.

   My coffee maker bit the big one a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a replacement ever since. The caffeine withdrawal (that is probably all in my head) finally made replacing it a priority. I found this little gem. The price was an offer that I couldn’t refuse, even if it was a temporary replacement until I found something else. That’s not the case with this coffee maker. After using it a few times, I realized I got a really great deal on a really good product. This is a smaller coffee maker which makes it nice because it opens up a lot of possibilities in where I could put it in the kitchen. It brews 5 cups which is perfect for one or two people. If you have a lot of coffee drinkers in your home or office then this one would not work for you. In fact, the size is small enough that I was a little worried about it at first until I used it. My last coffee maker was a 12 cup unit so if that’s what you are used to, the difference is going to be quite noticeable but I think that is part of this unit’s charm. The size also makes this one a good choice for anyone that has a smaller kitchen, for dorm rooms, studio apartments or anyone that is limited in the amount of space that they have. There are no special bells or whistles on this little guy. It does one specific job. It brews and it brews well. No clock, no timer. Just the basics. This Black & Decker coffee maker does require coffee filters. Even though it is a smaller unit, the regular size filters fit just fine. The filter basket is removable which is a HUGE plus for cleaning. Brew speed is good. Since it is only brewing a maximum of 5 cups, it only takes a few minutes if you are brewing a full pot. I like that because when the smell of fresh brewed coffee hits my nose, I want that first cup right now and this coffee maker accommodates that urge. All in all I’m extremely pleased with this purchase. I have been using this one for a week now and couldn’t be happier. At this price I will probably pick up a few more as gifts for friends and family. Anyone that uses a coffee maker that needs a compact model really needs this one in their life! ***UPDATE September 18, 2017*** Just wanted to take a second and say that this coffee maker is still going strong! It has been used to brew a full pot once (sometimes twice) a day since the day it arrived and it is still working like it did when it came out of the box. I’m still very pleased with it.

    We like the functionality of this coffee maker. It is easy to use and makes a good cup of brewed coffee. The brewing basket is removable. There is a window on the side that allows you to see how much water is in the water receptacle. This brewer has “VORTEX TECHNOLOGY” which is said to saturate coffee grounds effectively, resulting in a richer coffee flavor. However, what plays a large role in coffee flavor is the quality of the coffee beans. Use quality beans, and you’ll get better flavored coffee. We found that this coffee brewer is somewhat pricey. You may be able to find other brands at a lower price that will make coffee as good as or better than this one.

    Coffee marker works like a charm. Does what it expected to do. Brews hot coffee. However, the water reservoir measurement is not correct. When I fill up to the12 cup line on the coffee pot and empty it into the coffee maker reservoir, it always fills up to the 10 cup line. If I fill up the coffee maker reservoir to the 12 cup line, the coffee pot will brew way past the 12 cup line in the coffee pot to just under the rim of the coffee pot. This makes it possible to potentially overflowing.

    my Pros: no clock to set, has no timer to turn off unit. My coffee stays hot until I empty the pot and turn it off.
    my Cons: no pause feature, don’t pull the pot until it is done making coffee or you will have a mess.
    You must turn this unit off before you leave the house! No auto shutoff feature.

    Very misleading. A cup is a unit of measurement equal to 8 ounces. I couldn’t believe how tiny the carafe was and thought there was no way that’s “5 cups”. It’s 3 cups of water which reduces to even less coffee… about two servings of coffee for a standard American sized mug. The find print is on the box. I don’t know anyone who considers 5 ounces to be a cup. I chose Black & Decker because of the reliable name after have expensive espresso machines that break and are too expensive to fix. Let’s hope it brews better than the company measures.

    So, I’ve been using this coffee maker for a couple of months now. It’s OK. Coffee tastes fine. I only have 4 observations to share with you all: 1) The coffee urn that comes with this only has the markings on ONE side of the pot. Meh. Small issue. PITA when filling it up depending on your sidedness. Minor. 2) The on/off button is on the side of the base. I find oddly positioned and even with two strong hands, I find I somtimes have to hold the coffee maker with 2 hands to turn it off. Don’t burn yourself 3) It doesn’t come with a rinseable reusable strainer. You have to buy filters 4) My BIGGEST gripe: no automatic turn-off feature. Safety-wise, this could be a deal-breaker for some. I actually liked the 4 cup Mr. Coffemaker better, button and functions, however, THAT coffee maker has its issues also. That is the reason why I decided to try this one. This is one is VERY BASIC. It’s definitely NOT 5 stars, so, I always say, always read the 1 and 2 stars first and assume the 5-star raters got a freebie to leave 5 stars. There is no way this is 5 stars. Basic. Coffee tastes fine. Basic workmanship materials.

    This is a good coffee maker at a reasonable price. Here are the PROS and CONS that I found. PROS: 1. Brews HOT coffee that tastes great. 2. Great price. 3. Small and compact. CONS: 1. No Auto Shut-Off. ‘That’s an important safety one.’ You may forget to shut it off and it will burn the coffee and potently start a fire. You would think that would be a safety standard, especially in California. 2. No Grab-a-Cup Auto Pause Feature. Doesn’t stop dripping coffee when you remove the carafe to pour a cup before it has finished. Coffee continues to drip until finished brewing. 3. No Removable Screen basket (permanent filter) Other than a couple CONS to watch out for, you have a reasonable priced 5-cup coffee maker that makes tasty and hot coffee.

    It brews fine. It was easy to put together. It keeps the coffee extremely hot.

    But filling the carafe so that you can fill the water is a nightmare. the thumb tab on the lid is wayyyyy too short, so if you forget that and try to use the thumb thing like normal, the lid just flops down, and it’s impossible to keep it up, using your thumb. If I didn’t need that lid to literally trigger the coffee to come out of the brew basket, I’d rip it off. It’s extremely annoying.

    I drink one cup of caffinated coffee in the morning (I’m prone to kidney stones and doctor recommended no more than one caffinated drink a day). The rest of the day is decaf. I love my nice strong caffinated coffee I get from my Keurig. But decaf coffee in the Keurig, no matter the brand, has always been weak. I add decaf instant coffee to my cup to make it stronger. My husband and I tend to drink decaf throughout the day. I bought this for us for decaf. And it works perfect. The coffee is as strong as I want it. Easy to use and keeps the coffee hot. There’s only two small issues I have. 1) if I want to brew 8 cups, I put about 9 cups of water in it. Otherwise I get about 7 cups of coffee. So add a bit more water than you think. 2) no auto off feature. I have to remember to turn it off so I don’t burn coffee in the carafe. Not a deal breaker. I would definitely buy this again.

    First, if you are one of the coffee maker searchers who want an alarm when its done making the coffee move on. Why you would need an alarm to let you know it’s ready is beyond me. If I make coffee, I want it now and I’m hanging out waiting for it. Actually, every coffee maker I’ve ever owned has a built in alarm as it loudly sputters when done to get all the water through the machine. That said, this makes greats coffee, the count-down timer on the machine lets you know how many minutes are left until it automatically turns off the heating plate. Easy to set the time and use. Water in the back and coffee in the the front and it uses normal sized round filters. I have always used a mesh plastic and metal round filter in my makers as I find it easier to clean and mine fit perfectly. Very solid construction. My only issue is you need to try and not pour the coffee to your cup to quickly because it can start to pour back along the lip and make a mess. Take your time and its fine.

    Good little coffee pot for my needs. I read some reviews that the coffee isn’t hot enough and I will admit that it is colder than my previous one but I like the temp. I measured it at 166 deg F for anyone interested. The main thing I don’t like is that the power button is on the side making it harder to see if I’ve left it on. Not a big deal, but my previous one had it right in front center. The power button is also hard to press. The whole maker slides across the counter when I try to do it one-handed. I used to have my coffee in one hand and turned off the maker with the other. Just an annoyance I’ll have to adjust to. Unless you like your coffee really hot, I would still recommend it to someone looking for one. It’s a simple one that does the job.
