   Obviously you shouldn’t drop this thing on the floor, or handle it with anything but care. But even with those caveats, simply tipping it over in the sink opened up a big crack that meant “no coffee today.” (see below) That, IMHO, says, “cheap and flimsy.” If it were being handled roughly that would be one thing. But it simply tipped over in the sink. A stainless steel sink at that. Not a hard granite sink. This is not unique to this brand. I have see it happen with other brands too. i don’t know what to recommend, but this ain’t it. Anybody know of a brand with a little more strength – or protection for the glass should it inadvertently tip over?
   **Note: A morning without coffee in the middle of a quarantine will not be a good morning. (I should have waited to write this)

   This was a gift, I’ve used it now everyday for almost 2 months. I use hot water from a coffee machine that puts out about 185 degrees. The press has a single nut at the bottom that holds it all together. I keep it hand tight to clean the press thoroughly once a week. Beaker slides out of the base easily to clean and stays in there snugly. I drop the grounds in and pour the water on them then slowly press about an inch every min or so. Pretty much delivers 100% ground free drink if you pour slowly. Not sure why all the negative reviews about this product-just keep an eye on that nut on the bottom of the press.
   I never owned one before but this thing works solid. Expecting this to last years if I don’t drop it.

   I received this from a subscription service and have used it for about a year.

   The pros: For a first time French Press user, it’s easy to assemble and easy to use. We used 3 rounded teaspoons of coffee and it makes two large mugs. It’s dishwasher safe and has held up well to daily use. It’s also zero-waste, which is a huge reason I started using it.

   The cons: it’s very thin and doesn’t hold heat at all, from the time that you first pour it to the time you plunge it, it’s lost a ton of temperature. Microwaving the coffee I just made has become a daily practice. The grinds slip through the screens and it’s only a single layer of mesh, which isn’t ideal. The screens also come unscrewed quite a bit and the nut that holds it together is tiny, so there have been a lot of search-and-find missions to put it back together. It also feels cheap and flimsy, though as I said it held up to a year of use.

   Ultimately it has served us well and we’ve passed it on, but upgraded to a much better model. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this, but it’s not the worst thing ever.

   Worked well as a coffee press at first, easy to clean. Fell apart within 6 months of use: the top plastic lid completely separated from its metal top and fell into the coffee. It’s unusable now. Also as many other commenters noted, the bottom nut fell off somewhat regularly although that was easy to keep an eye on after the first couple times. We were using it about 1x to 2x a week.

   The first time I used the coffee press, I prepped the beaker according to the instructions by filling it with hot water and letting it sit for 2 minutes before adding the coffee grounds and the fresh hot water for the brew. For reference, I used hot water from my Keurig, which wasn’t anywhere near boiling. As soon as i placed the plunger on the top of the beaker, a ~1″crack formed starting from the top and ran down the side. The product box says not to use the beaker if it’s cracked, chipped, etc. so now I don’t trust the beaker not to crack further or break the next time I use it. It was a bummer to have it last so little after taking it out of the box. But given the low price of the product, I’ll just chock it up to paying for one REALLY expensive cup of coffee. Look elsewhere for a coffee press if you’re looking for something that will last the test of time.

   I used this perhaps half a dozen times before one side of the handle snapped off, which made it precarious to pour the coffee. I resorted to wrapping the carafe in a dish towel to avoid getting burned after attempts to glue the handle back together failed. Guess I would need a soldering iron, but why should I need to do that. Other review is correct in stating that the plunger has sharp parts — I also gave myself a very deep and painful cut when trying to clean it — and it fell apart as well because the screw isn’t secured very well. I was able to re-assemble it but with the broken handle, it’s still terrible. Invest in one of the trusted, well-reviewed brands coffeemakers.us.com offers. Most of them are cheaper too. This one is GARBAGE.
