The lid does not screw on easily and is NOT user friendly!

I purchased this cold brew coffeemaker because it was big and I could make a lot at one time. My other brewers held much less. Well it came. I thought that it was glass. It turns out to be plastic. Then I tried to wash it before the first use. I could not get it to let go of the filter. I worked with it. My husband worked with it. It comes with a card telling you to go to a website to learn how to use it. I did. Many product instructions were on this website. But not this one. So I brewed some without removing the filter. It was ok, but then, when I tried to wash it, it was a 3 day process of soaking it, over and over, to get it clean with the grounds and filter still in it. Finally my son came over and he figured out that the entire top part of the brewer screwed off and then the filter unscrewed from the top. None of my other cold brew makers work this way. Maybe I’m just senile, but I think that needs to be included in the instructions. Other than that, I like it, even the fact that it’s plastic. It makes a ton of coffee so I don’t have to make it often.

I tried this as a Cold-brew coffee maker and didn’t like how it came out. Coffee grounds float in cold water so they weren’t emersed enough in the water to get a strong brew. I tried to stir them and push them down in the filter, into the water, but there was a lot at the top. I make a Lot of iced coffee and I found that this was better used just as the pitcher to store it in the fridge after it was made. I’m not even sure what heat temperature this plastic pitcher will tolerate, so I make the coffee in my regular coffee pot.

There’s no video on their website (that I could find) but the ratio is pretty easy. Use a relatively coarse grind – I use a French press grind – and fill the inside basket up about 75-85% of the way. Top the whole thing off with filtered water. Put it in your fridge. Wait at least 12 hours. You can go up to 24. I like to pour the coffee into a separate pitcher and start another batch as soon as it’s done, so I’m in the cycle of having delicious cold brew whenever I want.
Low acid, no bitterness, strong coffee. It’s delicious and easy on the stomach. I highly recommend the process to anyone looking for something that feels fancy without being difficult. As with all coffees, grind it right before you use it for best results, and the better the bean (and the better the roast), the better the end product will be. If you don’t get it right the first time, try it again!
