   This is a really easy way to make cold brew and not to have to deal with filters. You simply pour some rough ground coffee in the metal filter and then pour some fresh water in. I usually leave this in contact with coffee grounds overnight. I then remove the grounds and have cold brew for the week. I like the silicone bottom plate which cushions setting down the maker. It is really easy to clean. I just throw everything in the dishwasher and it is ready for the next week of cold brew. It could not be easier. It even comes with a silicone cap to place on the cold brew glass container after you remove the coffee grounds filter. This silicone cap comes with a pouring hole so you just twist it to dispense and then twist it back to keep the cold brew fresh in the fridge. I like the cold brew without dilution for a strong cup of coffee but my wife dilutes it with water for a normal strength cup. You can mix it with hot water for a warm beverage or cold with some ice cubes for a chilled cup. We both like cold brew because it does not have all the acidity of regular coffee or espresso. This is a really easy way to have really good cold brew.

   We were hesitant to move away from the Chemex with paper filters to this brand new product with a metal filter and about 6 customer reviews, but… I have ZERO COMPLAINTS, it truly is greater than the Chemex in my opinion. The rubber bottom is awesome, the filter is awesome and easy to clean, the measurements on the glass are so helpful, the glass is super strong, the handle is far more convenient than a removable wooden clasp & it comes with this awesome oval shape coffee scoop that really does make it easier to place the grounds in the filter just the way you need it. I have a Baratza Virtuoso and I grind at 16. I’ve gotten so used to this that I no longer need a scale. I have kept the box to take it with me when I travel. I love it, it’s awesome & I am very satisfied BE Pour Over > Chemex : )

After searching on coffeemakers.us.com, Bean Envy’s pour-over coffee maker fit the bill. The most important prerequisite for me was to purchase one with a durable reusable filter that worked properly — meaning, I wouldn’t get coffee grounds migrating into my cup of coffee, and that didn’t look or feel flimsy. I read so many reviews related to other similar coffee makers where these were issues. Bean Envy’s pour-over coffee maker really works the way its supposed to. Not only do the coffee grounds remain in the filter, this unit works perfectly. The reasons I love Bean Envy’s pour-over coffee maker are: ⁃ The silicone pad on the bottom of the carafe. ⁃ A durable coffee filter that keeps grounds in the filter. ⁃ An actual handle on the carafe. ⁃ Both carafe and filter are easy to clean and maintain. After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned about how slowly the brewed coffee came through the filter, however, I have never had that problem at all. I can’t understand why some stated as such because Bean Envy’s filter works just fine. The one thing I truly recommend to those who get coffee maker is that they thoroughly read through the entire instructional booklet that comes with the coffeemaker. It explains what you need to know to brew a great cup of coffee, in addition to cleaning and maintaining the coffee maker. I love this thing! I look forward to making my coffee each morning. I’ve been enjoying the best coffee I’ve ever brewed, and cleanup is quick. This is absolutely one of the best purchases I’ve made in quite a long time! I truly recommend this coffee maker!

    First of all, this brewer does make amazing cold brew, it is intuitive to use, and surprisingly easy to clean. However, I’ve now gone through the entire brewing process 3 times and without fail there is an astonishing amount of coffee grounds that have seeped out of the filter into the coffee. I’ve set up a system involving a strainer and coffee filters (have to use about 7-8 filters for each carafe of coffee, and takes about 25 minutes to pour ½-1 cup of coffee into a filter and wait for each pour to filter through). The photos show the remaining grounds from the last cup or cup and a half from the brewer. It doesn’t seem like too many others are having this same issue, so I may need to trouble shoot with different brands of coffee grounds to see if this issue improves, but the grounds I’m currently using are sold as course grounds so I’m not sure if that’s even the cause. All in all, having to filter the coffee after brewing is kind of a tedious process, but the results are worth it and I’m definitely saving money by making my own cold brew.

    While I enjoyed this one in tandem with my Takeya cold brew maker, this one lasted me a whole 6 months. While cleaning this glass pot, the handle gentle hit the side of the kitchen sink and it broke as you see on the picture. I’ve had my cheap $10 coffee pot take way more abuse than this one which lasted me 5+ years. I would look else where. ========================================================================================= *UPDATE I work in tech support and understand fully that with great support and care goes a long way. Bean Envy has contacted me three different times using three different methods (I did not notice their initial reply to this review) to make things right and ultimately sent me a new replacement.     In our family, cold and hot coffee are both appreciated. Our problem with cold brew was that our french press left grounds that had to be filtered out. The filtering process used a paper filter that takes the oils, and henceforth some of the flavor, out of the coffee. So we began looking for a solution. We had a Bean Envy Milk Frother (our 2nd one, Bean Envy happily replaced the first when it failed) and had just purchased a Pour-Over Drip Coffee Maker after getting such great customer service on the Milk Frother replacement. Along with customer service on the Milk Frother, the design and quality of the Pour-Over Drip Coffee Maker led us to “take a chance” on this cold brew coffee maker. As usual, it came packaged very well. Along with the cold brew coffee maker itself, the box contents included a nicely printed manual with instructions and suggestions, a thank you/registration card, and a how to contact customer service card. One thing I noticed is that all of our Bean Envy products don’t just have generic cards in them, each card is specific to that product. A VERY nice touch in my opinion. The Cold Brew Coffee Maker didn’t disappoint in design, quality, or innovation. The container itself is well-formed and feels like it’s made out of thick enough glass that it will last a lifetime of normal use while not being so heavy that my wife’s arm will get tired holding it. The bottom on the Coffee Maker is ingeniously easy to slip on and off, like their pour-over coffee maker. The filter is stainless steel and easy to clean while being able to keep the grounds out of the drinkable coffee (hint: if you’re getting grounds in your coffee with this one, try grinding a little coarser. The filter really does work well). The top of the filter has a cap that seals the coffee maker quite nicely while it’s “brewing”. When you’re done brewing, just pull out the filter and replace it with the included cover. Then empty the coffee grounds from the filter and clean it per Bean Envy’s instructions. 🙂 As you can see in our picture, the maker has coffee in it as the only time it doesn’t is when it’s getting cleaned out to make some more coffee. I can happily and comfortably recommend the Bean Envy 32 oz. Cold Brew Coffee Maker to anyone looking for one.

    This is the best way to enjoy coffee. I really enjoy the stainless steel filter as it provides a great balance between having a French press and pour over with a paper filter. The nice thing about the stainless steel filter is that it allows the oils to pass through to the cup which can account for more flavor / tasting notes that may be missing with a paper filter. It is also extremely easy for cleanup. Basically when you are done, just dump the grounds and rinse the filter and carafe. Bean Envy also provides a lifetime warranty, so if yours breaks, no problem, contact support and they will send you a new one. I broke mine on a camping trip during transport and they sent me a replacement which has a new design. The new carafe is thicker and seems to be more robust than the old. It is also about 50 grams heavier. The silicone bottom is also great as the carafe will hold up if bumped on the bottom or sat down too hard.

    I had previously used a French press for my iced coffee. I was shattered when it shattered. I found this one and am amazed how easy it is to make and even clean. Their directions are accurate and the outcome is wonderful. The only thing I do extra is use a stirrer to make sure the grounds are completely wet. The rest is easy. Put in the grounds. Put in the water. Put in the stopper refrigerate. When it’s done, pull out the grounds tube, put in the carafe stopper and you’re ready to pour. The stopper has one side with little holes so you don’t even have to take it completely out. Just line up the holes with the spout. Best of all, pop it in the dishwasher. LOVE IT!

    **EDIT AS OF 11/5/2020** Shortly after posting the original review I was contacted by Bean Envy Customer Service about sending out a replacement. The CS agent was very polite and apologetic for my experience. The replacement arrived quickly and in good condition. I have changed by review to 3 stars, as customer service did reach out and offered a replacement, however, I will still take the actual product itself (fragile, grounds come through the filter) but all in all not a terrible product for the price since it comes with a warranty if it does break. **************************************************** One. That’s the only use I got out of this product. When it came in, I hand washed it and did a trial run with only two servings. It worked fine. First serving tasted okay, a little weak but that’s just from me having to learn. But the second serving had a lot of grounds in it, so the filter doesn’t work great. I once again hand washed and then set to the side in an empty drain to air dry. When I went back a few days later to brew more, the glass had cracked somehow. I am unsure how as nothing hit the glass. I had put in the warranty request the day I got it and received an email saying that my request was received but never received a confirmation that I had registered for the warranty. I tried emailing support about the broken glass and to get a replacement or refund, but have received no response for days now. I ended up buying a cheap cold brew maker from Walmart and it has done great the one time I used it. I would not recommend buying this product. The product is poor and the customer support is too.

    For starters, the filter goes almost to the bottom. I tried a couple of others, and the filter was about an inch from the bottom, which then causes the coffee to float above the water. I love the design of this too. It’s simple and sweet and glass. It’s a little bit delicate. I coddle my cold brew anyway 😂 The rubber ring is kind of flimsy that seals the coffee strainer, so I’m just gentle with it. Don’t tear at it too much when I’m washing it. So even though it’s not perfect, it’s been the most perfect and got 5 😊

    I was excited to get my cold brew pitcher and it is a beautiful product. However I’m having an issue of 1. Contacting the seller to ask my question and 2. The filter seems to let some of the ground coffee through. It makes my coffee grainy. I am using exactly what is recommended which is coarsely ground cold brew coffee. I’m not sure if I got a defective filter, if this is common, or how I can get the one part replaced if it is defective. I love the pitcher but the filter is just not giving the result expected.

    I am a huge cold brew ice coffee drinker! Before I got this, I was doing my cold brew in a big jug. I always had to look up the directions every time. This is easy to use because the directions are right on the glass so you just fill up the coffee in the cylinder and place it in the fridge. The material of glass and stainless steel seem very durable. It is easy to carry around. It is easy to clean and also easy to use. A compliment to any kitchen.

    This is my first cold brew carafe. I’m not positive if sediment is a usual occurence with cold brew, but from reading about it, some is unavoidable. Unfortunately it can increase bad cholesterol leading to heart health issues. Plus, who wants to drink all of that? Yuck. For reference, I did use course ground coffee. I washed the carafe and poured the coffee back in, placed the black silicone lid for storage and back in the fridge it went. An added nuisance, but not too terrible. Pros- 1) Mouth of carafe is wide enough for me to stick my hand inside to wash easily, not needing a sponge on a stick. 2) Smooth tasting delicious coffee. 3) Silicone base Cons- 1) Sediment and added step to strain however this may be unavoidable with any cold brew system. 2) Black silicone lid used for storage after brewing needs to be removed before pouring. Drippy mess with it on.

    This is not a bad little product, but it needs to be stronger glass. Glass is cheap, so why do they make this so thin???? Maybe they want you to break it and buy another. I say, buy a stronger one, not this one. It also needs to be offered in a bigger model. All the pictures make it look big, but it’s not until you open the box that you realize how small it is. It’s a personal use coffee filter setup. If there are two or more of you in the family, it will not be sufficient. There’s a little rubber tab that’s pressed onto its handle that slips off. If it does so while it’s loaded up full of grounds and hot water, you have a huge mess in your kitchen. I have no idea why they put that little rubber tab on there without affixing it permanently. I suggest you take it off and put it away somewhere for some other use. Cleaning the filter assembly is not as easy as they claim. I use filter papers to make it easier, otherwise you spend a couple of minutes there, scrub scrub rinse rinse scrub scrub rinse rinse, to get it clean. The sales material goes on and on about getting the natural taste of coffee and its oils without using the paper filter, but that’s a bunch of malarkey. The acids and oils in coffee don’t taste good. An unbleached paper filter helps a lot with the taste

    I really do like this coffee maker – I had a single cup pour-over before and this one makes it much easier to brew two cups for myself or me and my boyfriend. Love that I don’t have to buy/waste paper filters, too. My only two complaints: 1. I got this model because the page and the website says their coffee makers are dishwasher safe, but actually it’s only the filter that’s dishwasher safe, not the base. Hand washing isn’t a big deal, but if you’re looking for an option that’s fully dishwasher safe, this model isn’t for you. Also note that when you hand wash it, water gets trapped between the glass and the foam/rubber-like bottom. That said, I do I like the rubberized bottom as it creates friction on my countertop and prevents it from slipping or moving. Second complaint: The first time I ran the metal filter through the dishwasher (which the instructions say explicitly to do) the plastic tab for the edge of the holder came off. It technically slides back on, but it won’t stay on. Not the end of the world since the filter doesn’t get that hot, but just sort of lame that it fell apart. Overall I’d say get this if you don’t mind hand washing, I’m just a brat about being lazy & wanting to put everything in the dishwasher!

    I love this carafe coffee maker. The coffee insert is a fine mesh to keep all but the fine particulates out of your coffee. The insert is lined with rubber on the top to sit nicely in the carafe, and there is a cap to keep dust out while it brews. After brewing, you remove the insert and replace with the rubber top for pouring. It doesn’t allow the coffee to come out fast enough for me, so I usually pull it out, pour, and replace it.

    I used this product for 2 total weeks, making coffee every other day (~7 times). Product effectively produced coffee from course ground beans. Product produced coffee from fine ground beans with grains (must self-ground or large ground order grinds; store purchased “normal” [Wegmans or Walmart tested] grinds migrate through the mesh to give you grainy coffee after minimum brew time specified by instructions [6 hours]). Product broke during washing when dropped (<3 inches) above [steel] sink surface. Product is visually appealing and easy to use with nice quality accessories. Glass is 1/8 inches thick and does not appear to be tempered which allows it to break under low blunt force (the break was mostly large pieces, with only a few small sharp fragments). Total volume is 32 oz, which fills a standard [16 oz] thermos twice. For the price, this is an okay product but it is not something that I would recommend to others. Disclosure: I am considering buying this again because I like to have redundant parts and would prefer to be able to interchange the pieces than get rid of the functional parts I still have (hence, 2 stars instead of one star). If I had kids or pets to knock or step in broken glass I would 100% steer clear of this product. If I were more practical and did not like the visual appeal of this product (or accepted the need to do dishes more readily) I would not consider repurchasing this product. For someone who likes the look and doesn’t love to do dishes, this may be the cold brew coffee maker for you!

    This is by far the easiest method of cold-brewing I have done so far….in the past I’ve done everything from using nutmilk bags to just dumping and straining. This coffee maker makes it so easy! I love the design and the extra lid; cleaning is a breeze! The size is very nice as well. No, you aren’t likely to get a whole week of drinks out of it, but it ACTUALLY FITS in a fridge with french doors and the freezer on the bottom….I’ve noticed that I seriously lack space with adequate height for things like pitchers, milk, juice, etc, but this fits great! And did I mention how nice it looks?? I tend to brew between 16-24 hours, I like it strong. I love to make Vietnamese iced coffee sometimes with sweetened condensed milk for a treat, but sometimes drink it black as well….you really can’t go wrong with a good cold brew! I just noticed that they also have a milk frother that I MUST have next. I can’t recommend this enough!

    This cold brew maker is very nicely designed; it’s just the right size and fits perfectly in my fridge. It’s easy to use and the coffee it produces tastes exactly how I want my cold brew to taste. What more can you ask for? The glass carafe was maybe a bit more fragile than I thought. Or possibly I’m just hopelessly clumsy and should be banned from handling glass products. Either way, I managed to break the carafe just 3 days after getting it. But the good news is this little cold brew maker comes with warranty, and the team at Bean Envy sent me a replacement as soon as they could (thanks Jill! you are awesome and a savior to all the klutzes like me).
