This is a fun and interesting gadget. It’s fun when friends come over. Use fuel alcohol, it takes some time if you don’t preheat water, but it gets done. Don’t use lamp oils or such, they’re too sooty. Why not 5 stars? Id give 4½ because I’m not sure of the metals and the spout has no notch for closed and open. But it is an 1800s replica. And it cleans up nicely. I’m glad I bought it and enjoy putting it to use every so often. I use a high quality coffee, I like Illy espresso dark. It doesn’t come out bitter. But these are just my experiences.
