   I’ve been wanting a part of a coffee maker for a while now. Finally decided to purchase one for my birthday and so glad I decided on this one. I went back-and-forth here on coffeemakers.us.com searching for the best pour over coffee maker, comparing all the reviews and this one had the best of everything. Just made my 1st cup of coffee, it’s absolutely delicious and I just had to write a review immediately afterward. The Bodum Pour Over CoffeePot is stylish, sturdy, comfortable to hold when hot and cold and it’s super easy to take apart and clean. I had two videos to upload but coffeemakers.us.com only allows one, so trying to include as much info as possible. I used 12oz of water and 2.5 level scoops of coffee for my xl coffee cup. I would suggest grinding your own beans if you have a coffee grinder. I use the prepackaged Gevalia Papua New Guinea coffee which is a fine ground. Took about 5-6 min to brew. Side noting that the coffee will not be too hot by the time brewing has completed due to the length of time it takes for fine grounds to brew. A slightly larger ground coffee bean would work best and would be hotter when finished. I add milk to my coffee, so that does tend to cook it down slightly also. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this pot and the delicious cup of coffee it produced. Comparing my experience to the other reviewer’s, the Glass is sturdy, it’s not thin at all, so as long as you don’t manhandle it roughly, you should be just fine. The cork is very comfortable in your hand, protecting your hand from the heat of the coffee and it is NOT hot at all to hold. It comes apart easily, simply squeeze the button, gently loosen the leather strap, and it slides right over. The cork pops right off, wash with soapy hot water and dry. Cork pops right back on and stays in place while you use two hands to replace the leather strap and re-tighten in place. Love this pour over coffeepot and highly recommend it. Don’t hesitate, it’s perfect! Two thumbs up!

   Everything is fine except for something stuck on the outside of the carafe. It appears to be a piece of baked on plastic. It doesn’t seem to affect form, fit or function. Gentle cleaning will not remove any of it. I am concerned too aggressive cleaning will scratch or break the glass. I’ve contacted the mfg. but they haven’t responded at this time.

   We absolutely love it! First off the driver actually ran down our long driveway that goes downhill in 4-in snow to deliver it. What an awesome driver, when they could have just driven right by or thrown it at the top of our driveway as others have done. Second, this is really easy to use and I absolutely love it. The coffee came out tasting so much better than it does in that ridiculous drip coffee maker. Poor slow, to no overflow filter. But you will have to stop several times and keep adding more water as it goes down. You need patience for this because it takes quite a bit of time. But the end game is completely worth it. I wanted to show that my hand, as a medium-sized hand woman, is able to get all my fingers on the cork. Another reviewer had complained that she could not but she was not even trying from her picture. Of course it’s not going to be perfect for everyone and yes the glass gets hot. To make that perfect cup or more of coffee, your water temperature should be between 195 to 205°. Do not go any higher as your coffee could taste burnt. I have not tried it with a filter yet, but I will. Being somebody who has high LDL it is recommended that we paper filter our coffee as there are kahweal and safestol in coffee beans that can be filtered out with a paper filter. This is true for me because we used to have a coffee grinder pot that did not use paper filters and once I stopped using it at the recommendation from my doctor, my cholesterol went down by 10%. Lastly another reviewer was not sure about the little plastic piece that comes to put in the top to pour your coffee. She was afraid it was going to break the glass. Hot glass is not going to break as easy as cold glass. And if you ever so carefully put it in there like I did you’re completely fine. It actually slides in very easy due to the Steam on the glass.

   Very easy to use! I was able to brew my Kona coffee to perfection. In some reviews there is mention of residue at the bottom of their coffee mugs (insinuating the filter is not working). When I poured the coffee into my cup, there was a small amount of coffee still inside the coffee maker. I was about to remove the little plastic pour cover and dump the rest of the coffee into my mug, when I saw coffee residue. It seems like the coffee maker was designed to prevent that coffee “gunk” from pouring into your cup. Regarding the reusable metal filter: it’s sturdy (does not bend or fold) and has VERY tiny holes. Freshly ground coffee and standard ground coffee will not go through. The residue I mentioned above had a powder like consistency. That being said, don’t expect pulverized coffee grounds to not go through the itty bitty filter holes! If, for whatever reason, you must brew coffee that has the consistency of baby powder (think Cuban coffee “Bustelo”), then you very likely may need to use a paper filter. That being said, I am super happy with it! I did not use a paper filter (the metal filter it came with worked perfectly).

    Love this pour over coffee maker! Very easy to make pour over coffee at home. The capacity is large enough for a little more than four eight ounce cups of coffee. As in the video, I start with whole coffee beans and grind them in the Bodum coffee grinder. Coffee grounds are added to the filter and water is then poured over. The stainless steel filter is a nice addition and is easy to clean and does not stain. The glass is thick enough with a medium weight, sufficient and functional for making coffee.

    I was looking for a new coffee maker that would produce no waste and wasn’t super messy and I think I found it! It was packaged fairly securely but was confused why they put everything in the bottom part of the glass versus on top of the filter. It took a a bit longer to get everything out. After a quick wash I ground some coffee and heated some water. The provided booklet shares how many scoops of ground coffee per 4oz cup, which I thought was very helpful. I like that the filter is stainless steel and has rubber around the top and a little handle. Video of making the coffee, provides opportunity to be intentional about making coffee — not something if you want a quick cup. As other reviews say, I can’t fit my hand all the way around the cork neck and because the container is glass it doesn’t stay super warm. I have no problem being careful while handling it and warming up my second cup. The only thing so far I wish would be different would be if it had measurements on the side so you know how much water you’re adding for the perfect cup. But I can see how that would take away from the simple esthetic.

This is a simple design and there is no room for any ick to build up anywhere. I use a teapot to boil my water quickly then you pour it over your grounds. Clean up is quick and easy.     Brews some tasty coffee. Bought this (34oz, double wall, cork)for a Christmas present for my wife. We use this on the weekend when we have a little more spare time in the morning, though its really not much more time to make this coffee versus conventional pot or Keurig. We buy whole bean coffee for use with this pour over. Put water in small pot and start to boil on stove while grinding the beans (course to fine seems to work well). Put ground beans directly into filter, no need for additional paper filter (i can see the validity of others’ comments where this would remove all the tasty oils and flavors youd otherwise be getting with the use of fresh ground beans and this type of filter). Make an initial pour to slowly add boiling water in circling motion (to cover all grounds uniformly), maybe 1/4 of your total water, then put pot back on stove to keep water as hot as possible. Let ground seep for 30 seconds, allowing it to puff up. Then add remaining water, also in slow, circling motion to allow for maximum grounds exposure to water. Water drips through and is finished 30+ seconds later. Initially we wondered if this method was that much better than traditional pot or Keurig, and answered our own question when having that type of coffee after we finished the Bodum pot. thats when you really notice how poor traditional pot/Keurig really tastes. The only negative so far was the packaging it came in – i cant believe it didnt arrive broken. there was a thin cardboard sleeve around the glass, which had slipped off, and some bubble wrap which didnt seem to being too much. Didnt take a star away because this was packaging/shipping, not the product itself.

    I’m the only person who drinks coffee at home so I figured I get rid of my janky Keurig ! I hate cleaning those things … also costs money. Anyway, pour over coffee is a great way to get a strong cup. It does take patience. You can’t expect it to be done correctly in 5 min. I got the 17 oz and I make one cup (8 oz) in about 15 minutes. I don’t use the metal filter. The metal filter makes the coffee taste gross – grounds get through. I got #2 filters as suggested in previous reviews ! Make sure to pre wet the filter to deter that paper taste. I’ll probably invest in a nice kettle that stays hot while I’m pouring for 10-15 minutes , otherwise Bodum gets the job done !

    Things I like: it makes two good-sized cups of coffee, so it was the perfect size for me. Even with the very fine holes in the reusable filter, there was residue at the bottom of my cup and the bottom of the carafe. That is to be expected of a reusable filter. What I didn’t expect nor care for was the SLOW filtration. You can see in the picture, there are very few openings in the bottom of this filter, causing it to be very slow. The filter is easy to clean. You will need a special brunch to clean the inside of the bulbous bottom. I do like that the cork grip can easily be removed to wash the outside. Over all…it works, but not when you’re in a rush.

    We have been looking for a decent pour over system for awhile now. Obviously once you start doing pour overs, it’s difficult to go back to standard drip coffee but we found that we missed being able to make a pot of coffee, err, multiple cups for one person/ one cup for multiple people. We tried the sleek multi cup system on the right but the filter was very poor quality and had some serious drain issues, even with coarse grinds so our favorite system for over a year was the single cup, rubber pour over that you also see. THAT IS until we got the Bodum! PROS: – mesh filter which means no more stocking paper filters and you get that “dirty”, earthy coffee flavor – filter drains very well so no clogging issues – double wall glass so it stays fairly warm but it’s not a thermos so, not for longer that you’d expect – large bottom means lots of coffee – cork neck makes handling easy – the aesthetics are obviously top notch CON: – we could probably use an even larger filter and container -it’s fragile, but it’s hard to say that’s a negative given it’s a glass coffee system…. A great buy!!

It did not have the issues of some of the grounds seeping through the filter and creating a big liquid lump at the bottom of my coffee cup.     First time I bought this I bought the cork one….. SKIP, I can’t say it enough skip the cork get the not as pretty on your future self will thank you. Also while it’s a permanent filter get #2 filter it makes cleaning up a lot easier. I’m all about environmentally friendly but time is also something I value and put my biodegradable filters into my plants win win imo. Highly encourage also having a washable trivet under the pour over so the glass doesn’t break. Now I’m ngl and claim to be a tea expert heck most of the time I will say it’s vile and swill but my boyfriend drinks it so I like to make it for him. In using this daily I have learned even more, so I started to test it against other products. The mini Bodum, the oxo pour over and the m something I found in the grocery store. Oxo is the pour the amount of water walk away and forget it. The big Bodum one is a bit hard to pour and not make a mess and takes some serious time to pour think and make sure you get the right flavor. The mini has a better filter but isn’t huge at most I get one cup of tea out of it but dam is it cute! Overall if I had to do this all over again for daily single cup get the oxo, for cheap the m one works but be prepared to spend time pouring to make a good cup it has a peep hole to watch your progress, big Bodum for multiple people or a lot of coffee, and the small Bodum takes up a quarter of the space so if that’s an issue I recommend that. For now back to testing tea vs coffee on these to see what happens. P.s. all dishwasher safe in theory so that’s not the biggest factor minus the cork or no cork collar.

    The first time I ordered this product was in 2015. And I loved my first Bodum pour over pot. But, The quality of the product has greatly declined over the past four years. (I just bought another one in 2019). First, I’m proud to say that I kept the first coffee pot unbroken for four years. The glass is very thin, and the new version still has very thin glass for the coffee pot. My main complaint with the updated version is this: The mesh coffee filter is almost unusable with this new version. The one I bought in 2014 was so good in fact, that I am currently using it on my new one. The only reason I bought a replacement was because I broke the glass but the filter still works great. The filter in the 2014 model is taut, well built, and not flimsy. This one that I bought in 2019 has mesh that is wrinkled and floppy. (See pics, but the impact is greater in person (first one is new filter version; second pic is old filter). Also, The first time I ordered it I got the handle that was made of rubber and plastic, which lasted all four years. For a change, I ordered the cork handle and it is so flimsy that every time I pick it up I feel like I’m going to drop it. Also, if a drop of coffee drips onto it, which it will, you cannot clean the coffee stain off the cork. See pic for how the coffee drips under the spout, after one use already have a coffee stain on the cork. I’m going to find another brand to order. This brand was great back in 2014 for a while, but their quality of material is so poor that I’ll pay twice as much for something different

    Most of what I can say is pretty great so far. It shipped in a day, the Silicone grip is removable to clean it, it has a good texture, doesn’t feel like it would slip out of your hand, keeps the handling area nice and cool. That being said there are two issues with the product that must be noted. The first is the filter. When I ordered this I had a feeling I should get a better quality filter, and I am glad I did. In the photo, the filter on the right is what comes with the decanter. It’s not a terrible filter, but if you planned to use a finer coffee grind for stronger flavors, you would need to use paper filters. To me this eliminates versatility, so I have to mention it. Thankfully there are reasonably priced filters that you can purchase to improve your overall experience. The second issue for me would have to be packaging. It doesn’t come in a box, but instead a little kinda cardboard piece that doesn’t protect it at all. While I understand this is for aesthetic purposes to display the product, it is being shipped in the mail. I had ordered multiple items in bulk so thankfully the product was packaged with air pillows in a much larger box, but it’s still something to consider when you realize any sort of the wrong bump in transit could have potentially broken it. Other than that it’s a pretty solid product. Doesn’t feel flimsy, easy to use, feels nice in the hand, the scoop and lid are a nice touch. Worth the purchase.

    My husband and I had been using a single-serve coffee maker for years, the pods were so expensive and terrible for the environment. We switched to this pour over coffee maker a while ago and haven’t looked back! The glass is sturdy and survived a few bumps and accidental slips during a rinse in the sink, and stands up to the near boiling temperatures needed to make a good cup of coffee. We make two cups at a time, which does require a few passes with the kettle as the top won’t hold that much water at once. The cork is definitely necessary when you go to pour, because the glass gets HOT. We’ve noticed that the cork has shrunken slightly over time with exposure to moisture, but still fits and serves its purpose. Definitely recommend as a jumping point into pour over coffee!

    The carafe itself is fine. I’ve never had an issue there. The problem is the filters are flimsy and hard to find a replacement for or they’re so expensive that it’s just cheaper to replace the whole darn thing. This one broke in less than a year.     I personally don’t drink coffee, but I frequently have guests that do. I only drink tea and until recently, had been relying on my Keurig until it died. I bought this because of its nifty little size. I used it for the first time yesterday, and my guests said it was the perfect cup of coffee!     I know that this is probably one of the trendiest ways to make coffee nowadays. But truth be told, when I was a little girl my father had a very similar coffee maker. that he would set up first thing in the morning and after dinner. I loved the ritual of watching him make coffee the pour over way. When April came and I was looking for birthday gift ideas, I wanted something that I would get use out of, and that was not very expensive . So I thought about my coffee habit. I do not drink a lot of coffee, but I love coffee . From my keurig, French press, regular drip maker, etc. I thought this would be a good addition to my coffee family. There is a much pricier, well-known brand, very similar in look, and style, to this one. Until I knew what I wanted I was not willing to invest, just yet. I chose this one because of the price, and the look, and the reviews. Now that I have had it for a few months, I don’t see any reason to get anything else. It’s easy to clean, for me. One thing to keep in mind, is to rinse it immediately after you’re done using it. I like that the cork is 100% removable to make cleaning a breeze A little bit of hot water, white vinegar, and a soft brush , and it’s as good as new. This item comes with a measuring spoon, and a reusable filter, which I appreciated. I tried the paper filters that came with this package -just to see if there was a difference in taste/quality, and quite honestly my guests and I did not notice a difference, to justify using only paper filters. But then again, I am a newbie to this game, So, I might be missing some slight nuances of flavor, or coloring, or what have you. Overall, this pour over maker is a thorough complete package. If you are on the fence about switching over to the “pour over life“ , looking for a pour over maker of your very own, a gift, etc., I don’t see how you could go wrong with this specific item.

    I’ve been brewing coffee for over 30 years. I used to work in the business. I prefer a simple pour over drip. This filter is garbage. Poor workmanship throughout. I didn’t expect much for $20 but a filter is a filter, right? Well, this particular one barely lets any liquid through no matter what grind do you have. Super coarse still super slow. This is completely unusable garbage. The carafe is nice in the silicone wrap is great. I will use my old crappy filter with paper filters which does a fine job.
