I purchased this item to replace my broken tassimo machine. The best purchase I made so far on coffeemakers.us.com, you just boil your water, put some ground coffee in the Bodum French press, pour your hot water and here you go. Because it’s made of plastic, it will not keep your coffee hot for too long, so if you have a thermal mug to pour into once it’s brewed, do it as soon as possible to keep the coffee hot longer.

This Bodum press does its job perfectly, although materials don’t feel as high quality as in other Bodum products. The dark plastic outer makes it difficult to measure water amount, but it might preserve temperature for a little longer. It’s a good product overall but I feel you can get more from a $19.99 Bodum product with other options

This unit is more fragile than the glass version. The top is made of thin plastic, and the part of it that holds the filter-plunger broke after the press fell 3 feet to my wood kitchen floor. I had the glass version for five years and it survived several higher-from-the-floor drops as well as two moves and four camping trips. No glue will fix the damage to this inferior plastic unit and there is no warranty protection for a damaged unit. DO NOT BUY – waste of money.

After cracking my glass press I figured I’d give this a try. Plastic doesn’t crack but the pour is just not as satisfying. The mechanism inside just interrupts the outflow somehow and it takes longer for the coffee to come out. But all in all it does the job. Great for clumsy types.
