   We have this Bodum french press for about six months now, and we absolutely love it!! It is so easy to put in the coffee grinds, water, let it steep and then press your coffee. I love that you can use any coffee grinds you like (we like Maxwell House Hazelnut) and we make awesome lattes with the concentrated coffee. The plunger can be unscrewed apart, so it’s easy to wash really well. You can also wash it without taking it apart and it gets clean. I love that you don’t need any other accessories, like filters, k-cups, etc – I don’t even know what they’re selling out there now.
   I am always scared the glass part will break – it is made of thin-ish glass (think of a beaker in a science lab) but in a house where we break about a dish a week, this one’s still around!!!
   I would recommend this press to ALL coffee lovers!

   This arrived well packed. I opened it and was initially a little worried as the plastic parts seemed a little thin. I needn’t have worried though, I’ve been using this cafetiere almost every week for some months now and they are holding up extremely well. The glass is the standard “laboratory grade” borosilicate, perfect for food, and the metalwork seems to be 18/8 stainless steel. The plunger works smoothly even if it’s a little bit of a tight fit in mine.
   When it comes to capacity, I bought the 12 cup version which translates to 3 L A R G E mugs of steaming hot “wake-up”, which is enough to trigger activity in my higher brain functions.
   I had ordered this cafetiere with a spare glass as I had broken my trusty old model (around fifteen years old) and as I had kept the base, handle, and plunger/lid, I decided to try assembling the parts with the spare glass. They fitted perfectly. I love companies that don’t go around changing things just because they can.

   I love French press coffee. This is a classic French press, in a 1.5L size, which is ideal for 2 people (the more common 1L size is too small for us). I like it because its just a glass carafe without the metal legs or carrier, which look nice but make for harder cleaning. This has a metal mesh screen, all the parts unscrew for easy cleaning. The handle occasionally loosens and needs to be tightened, which is easily done with a screwdrived. The carafe is a standard size, so can be replaced easily if broken. My only criticism (minor) is that the smaller 1L size comes (or used to come) with a cork base to sit it on, so the heat doesn’t damage a counter, and this one does not. So I put it on a cork trivet instead – not a big deal. I use it every morning and it makes great coffee.

   This French press is perfect for making more then enough coffee for larger groups. I had a smaller French press, the 8-cup and me and my roommates (2) always found ourselves needing to make an additional pot to satisfy our coffee appetites in the morning. Finally, I purchased this one and we have more than enough for the 3 of us. So much better than drip coffee, we can’t drink anything else. Simple, solid design. Love this product.

   Ma première cafetière à piston, et j’en suis très satisfaite. Très élégante et permet de faire un grand café quand on est seul (ou deux cafés plus petits). Remplace parfaitement les machines à café et fait économiser sur le prix des dosettes. Se range partout et fait parfaitement son travail.

   I hesitated to buy this because of the price and other issues i had with smaller versions. But it was worth every penny!!! I will say that a piece of the plastic on the lid was broken when it arrived, but it doesn’t effect the use and was probably a product of poor packaging. Would definitely recommend

    Gluing plastic on something that contains very hot liquid is a TERRIBLE idea. But I guess it’s cheaper. I got one of these french presses, the filter came off because it was glued. I returned it and got a replacement. And this time the handle is coming off.

    Awful, cheap design. Bodum can do better for sure (I have a smaller Bodum that’s perfect), but they tried to make a cheaper product probably. Avoid.

    French pressed coffee is sooo good and Bodum makes a fine product. The press ‘innards’ are easy to clean, the handle is big enough for my husbands hand and the knob at the top makes removing the lid easy. This would make a great gift for newlyweds or students (especially when they are “cramming” for exams) or for your best friends birthday.
