I gave this 4 stars because i like the way the coffee tastes, BUT i hate the cleanup. The cleanup is a huge pain in the butt and if it weren’t for that I’d have given it 5 stars. I’ve used it quite a few times now and i can’t quite master the perfect “recipe” for my tastes. What the Press calls for and what the coffee suggests are totally different so maybe a few more tries and I’ll like it as much as the regular drip makers.

This is a great French press and makes great coffee. The design is plain which makes the price very reasonable. It makes two large cups. I drink one hot and refrigerate the remainder in the press. Later in the day I add a tablespoon or two of condensed milk and poor it over ice for great iced coffee.

Readers of reviews for the various Bodum presses will be well aware that the glass carafes are extremely fragile, and that the 4-oz “cup” size is a peculiar (and annoying)artifact of French coffee-drinking habits. That said, the coffee tastes very fine, particularly if one grinds just before brewing. A nice touch would be to supply a wooden stir spoon to reduce the chance of cracking the glass with a metal implement when brewing and cleaning.

This is my first ever French Press – I bought it as it is the same brand as my mother’s who has had hers for god knows how long, and it is just the best! I’ve had it for about a month now and use it every day and no complaints! Great size (not really 8 cups by my standards but it does make a comfortable 2 XL mugs or about 4 standard mugs full which is perfect for me), the filter fits snugly against the glass so no bits come through, it’s super easy to clean and so far seems very sturdy! Over the moon with my purchase, it makes a great cup of coffee in the morning and I much prefer it over my fancy coffee machines! Super easy to use and it’s such a cute and simple design!
