   Waiting for gravity to separate the grounds from the coffee takes I don’t know how long, got tired of waiting (might be good for tea? ) I ended up getting a French press from the same company (Bodum) LOVE the French press.Heat up the water to pre-boil,pour in wait 5 min then. push down the filter rod and separated coffee in a matter of seconds. They have different sizes. But they work great. Easy to clean. Go French press instead for coffee.

   Non-electric gravity based coffee making. As long as your not going into orbit this unit will never fail. What’s not to love. My sis has a bullet type maker, all that plastic and electricity all to make ONE cup, that’s insane!!

   I had a Bodum pour-over that I recently replaced with this Chemex 8-cup. And it is night-and-day better. Let me list the reasons:
   1. The Bodum is made with a cork handle that is ruined by getting wet. Very annoying when you need to rinse it every time you make coffee, and have to avoid getting the cord handles wet.
   2. Bodum has a more rounded bottom and therefore is more unstable. The Chemex has a broad, flat bottom that is more topple-resistant.
   3. The Chemex has a channel that goes to its pour spot. So coffee pours out in a predictable manner. The Bodum does NOT have a channel, and therefore coffee exits randomly at times. Which is absolutely wonderful. Not. Bodum has attempted to correct this major design flaw by tossing a small plastic plug into the box. This is a band-aid fix.

   The Bodum is half the price of the Chemex. For a reason. You get what you pay for.
