   Is it just me or do others have issues with a company selling a product that gets daily handling with thin glass that is guaranteed to break? I babied it and actually got a year out of it. Never would put in the dishwasher. It’s not cheap either and filters are costly although that is not the point. Must be something about Borosilicate glass that I don’t know? Come on Chemex, don’t want to believe it breaking is part of your business model but wondering. Anyway I won’t buy again. Too bad as I like its purity and coffee results. Fool me once….

   Ich habe die Kanne vor Weihnachten bestellt als eine Alternative für meine Stempelkanne. Wie viel besser der Kaffee auch nach dem ersten Versuch schmeckt… sehr aromatisch, geschmacksvoll… wirklich lecker für einen Filterkaffee. Die Form ist stabil, schick und gut verarbeitet und die Karaffe sieht auch viel schöner aus (und ist viel einfacher zu reinigen) als die Stempelkanne. Die Anleitung sind allerdings auf Englisch, und für das anfängliche Zubereiten muss man ein bisschen sorgfältig sein, aber was entsteht ist die Mühe wert. Ich hatte das Gefühl, ich habe immer Kaffee zuhause vermeidet weil das Geschmack die Arbeit nicht wert war. Ganz zu empfehlen für alle Filterliebhaber!

   I ordered this to replace our previous Chemex without a handle that had broken after having for 6 years. When purchasing a new one, I ordered one with a glass handle instead. Upon arrival of the new Chemex, we opened the box to find the spout chipped. We were able to correct this with coffeemakers.us.com right away. I opted to return to a Wholefoods, and while the Wholefoods would not accept it because it was chipped, they said they could still “process” the return. I left this Chemex in my trunk not sure what to do with it in the interim. The new replacement Chemex arrived, but felt different. I attributed this to the fact that it now had a handle, so perhaps it just took some getting used to, but it felt lighter. We have been experiencing leakage when we make coffee when we pour from the spout. Our old chemex poured cleanly, but now we get dribbles from the spout EVERY TIME we pour. It’s rather messy and frankly, seems like poor design. I had not noticed this before, but when I was washing (and months after my purchase) I noticed the design at the bottom was different. Initially I thought it said “Chewex”, but I guess it reads correctly when upright. Designs before this had the shape of the chemex on the bottom. I’ve been hearing a lot about scams/fraudulent sellers through coffeemakers.us.com, and the fact that the quality has been so bad made me believe that something may be off. I still had the old Chemex that was chipped in my car, so I retrieved it to compare the two and there is absolutely a difference! The old Chemex is heavier, and the spout is wider and slightly longer. The handle is thicker and the chamber where the coffee sits is also wider. The logos at the bottom are different. I’m not sure if this is a fraudulent replacement, or a change in product design, but either are terrible. The fact that we ordered the better quality one and then the replacement was of lesser quality just feels off. If this was fraudulent, coffeemakers.us.com please investigate. If this is poor quality, shame on you Chemex for charging so much for faulty and poor quality products. We were used to a high standard and this is sad if this is what is come to expect from this company go forward.    I tested the Chemex logo with a 3M lead test swab and it tests highly positive for lead. I tested a Pyrex product which tested negative and included that picture as well for comparison. A red color response is a positive test result. Not only did the logo test positive as soon as I touched it with the swab, but when I rub my finger on it, even my finger tests positive. I have tested every glass baby bottle brand in my house and all were negative so I am very surprised that they are using lead paint on a kitchen product that could leach lead into dishwater or simply transfer from your hands to your child. This is honestly the first product that I have ever tested that has tested positive. I emailed the company and they were not concerned and simply offered me a return label. I will shop for a different brand. This is a consumer safety hazard and I sincerely hope that on this second try coffeemakers.us.com will allow me to post this honest review.

   I have been having fun with my Chemex. I was using a Keurig and it was fast, but not the best coffee I’ve ever tried. I decided I wanted to find out more about coffee, and was interested in what I read about the Chemex. There is definitely a learning curve in using this. I would suggest looking at the videos available about how to use the Chemex. There is also an app that I use to help time my pour it is called KoHi. You can customize the size of cup you are brewing. I have been keeping a little journal and rating how I like the coffee. I have gotten it down to 283 grams of brewed coffee, 17 grams coffee beans. I use an encore bur grinder (I love it) and grind at #25. At least for this bag of coffee- the last bag I needed 26 grind. I have also figured out I like medium roast coffee. I also went to the library and got numerous books about coffee. I am finding the history of coffee fascinating. If you need a good book about coffee check out “craft Coffee “ by Jessica Easto. I bought this book, it is a good reference book. I have gotten the time it takes to make the coffee down to about 10 minutes. It’s worth it to me. So have fun if you buy this.

   専用のものではなく、100均のシリコンのフタがちょうど頃合いで使い勝手がよいので、お勧めです。

    This is my third Chemex pour-over coffee pot. The Chemex pots are very beautiful and easy to use. No plastic; only non-toxic sturdy glass. Of course, it is glass, so you have to treat it as such. But if you don’t drop it or hit it on something, you are good to go, and it will last for years. Because of the curved design, you have to find a long handled brush to clean it. You can put the pot right on to a gas burner to keep your coffee hot, or an electric burner using a wire grid.
    The Chemex coffee filters are wonderful, very pure, and cut any bitterness from the coffee. I’m very satisfied with my Chemex.

    I always hesitated to buy the original Chemex mainly because I have small hands and the size of the carafe made it hard to pour. I love this version with the glass handle. It feels solid and substantial in my hand, not delicate like an older off-brand carafe I had prior. Not to mention it’s beautiful and makes great coffee! You will never go wrong with Chemex.

    Bought the wooden mid-jug handle version and I must say that that one was great but I wanted something with cleaner lines. Picked this all glass w/ handle version and find it superior in terms of look, cleaning and handling.
