   Initially I was a little skeptical about a couple qualities, such as it’s boxiness and it’s snap on lid. But after drinking 1 pot of coffee, I was sold. I love that you can not only change the strength, but the temperature. And, you can make up to 14 cups which is great for whenever we have guests. I also like that it looks a bit retro. Our old coffee pot, a Coffee Ninja, cost us about $170. It never made coffee that tasted as good as this one does! We’re very happy!!! Even my husband, who is a coffee snob, has zero complaints about the quality of coffee this maker produces.

   WHAT I REALLY DON’T LIKE ABOUT THIS MACHINE: The plastic top for the carafe doesn’t have a hinge…it is just one plastic piece that you have to bop with your fist to pop in place (and dig off with your fingernails when you go to wash it). Sometimes it seems like the lid is in place but when you go to pour your coffee it falls into the cup. I called the company about this and they did mail me a new carafe (so good customer service) but this doesn’t fix the basic problem. At this price point the carafe should have a hinge type top that affixes to the handle and doesn’t fall off. I usually just buy a cheap B&D type coffee maker because they all do basically the same thing and I like basket style filters (cheaper). But I noticed my son’s Cuisinart coffee maker had a warming plate that allowed you to adjust the temperature (W,M, H). My B&D (which I only had for about 16 months died prematurely) so I ponied up the $ for the almost double-the-price Cuisinart ($75) to get an adjustable warming plate. It does have alot of other features that the B&D didn’t have (Bold flavor button, pre-set “on” time, “clean” button and unfortunately a “cone” filter). The machine is working well and makes good coffee but I don’t use alot of the features (tho I do like the adjustable warming plate). Unfortunately, I would not spend the money to buy this machine in future.

   I did some research before settling on this Cuisinart model. I originally thought I wanted a dual coffee maker with a single serving side, but I didn’t like how much counter space was needed. This model has a 1–4 setting to adjust for single to smaller servings, but I don’t think it’s necessary tbh. I just adjust my grounds and water. I personally like the beeping notifications when coffee is finished brewing and when the machine is ready to shutoff. My dog doesn’t seem to mind it either:), but the option is there to silence it with the push of a button. My old Krups machine took forever to brew a 10 cup pot (4 cups of coffee). This maker takes 10 minutes. I also rued how slow I had to pour water from the carafe into the tank on the Krups. No such issue with the Cuisinart. The only reason I docked a star was due to the inability to easily empty the last bit of water from the Cuisinart carafe. The pot is too big to fully tilt within the allotted space as the top lid only opens 90 degrees. Not a crisis but somewhat annoying. The unit came with a metal filter if you are environmentally conscious or trying to save a few bucks on paper filters. I opt not to use it as I don’t want to bother with the mess of dumping wet grounds in my trash and then flush residual grounds down my kitchen sink in case they eventually build up and cause a clog. This model has a “Bold” feature. I don’t care for bold coffee, but I thought I’d be clever and use it with less coffee grounds to achieve the same medium strength. The coffee was the right strength, but it had a weird taste I can’t easily describe but to say it tasted “dirty.” So much for that idea. Aesthetically, I find the stainless steel look attractive, but it does leave finger smudges, however, they easily wipe off with a damp dish cloth. This model, like most if not all models with a top lid shower, does dribble water down the back of the machine upon lifting the lid after brewing. Again, not a big deal but just slightly annoying. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase, but in retrospect, a less expense model would have sufficed for our basic coffee needs.

   I owned the previous version of this coffee maker. This model replaces the mechanical switches of the earlier one with electronic switches. It includes controls for the clock, clean, temp of the warmer, strength of the coffee, programming for delayed brewing and alert tone. Cuisinart also added cushioned feet. The old one scratched the counter tops if you slid the maker along rather than picking it up to move it. The pot’s lid snaps off for filling. Filling the maker from the pot is easiest coming from the right side. The cover for the coffee filter hinges and swings to a full 90 degree angle for filling. The fill process is best done from the right since that’s where the opening for the tank is. There is also a sight glass on the right side, The Bold setting does make a difference in the strength. The brewing cycle is fast enough but if it takes too long for that first cup you can remove the pot with automatic shut off. One negative of this product is the lid to the pot isn’t hinged it snaps off and on. Not a deal killer but it is less convenient. It came well packed, on time in good condition. I just started using this item but right now I would recommend this product and this seller.

   This BKSP1 (black stainless appearance) 14-cup coffeemaker replaced a 12+ year old Cuisinart 12-cup unit we used until it finally quit working. Great coffeemaker and it produced great coffee. My research to replace the old unit settled on the BKSP1 model and coffeemakers.us.com delivered straight-a-way. I got it all cleansed out, programmed and set up for begin brewing at 4:45 the next morning. It brewed a great pot of coffee and all worked wonderfully … EXCEPT that the clock on the BKSP1 was running FAST. It had “gained” almost an hour since I had set it up the day before. Thus the coffee was actually brewed at ~3:45AM. I reset the clock and kept watching it as I would walk by the coffeemaker and noted that it was gaining time or running FAST. I went through this for several days and finally sent a message to coffeemakers.us.com C.S. and they immediately replaced with another BKSP1 and I returned the original unit. I went through the setup process with the #2 BKSP1 and was hopeful that the clock would keep proper time … however it did not. The clock on the #2 BKSP1 also ran FAST. The coffeemaker worked just fine in all regards … save for the clock running FAST. So, I reached out to Cuisinart/Conair C.S. with this “fast clock” issue and they replaced the #2 BKSP1 with the #3 BKSP1. I did all the setup with #3 and lo & behold … the clock on the #3 BKSP1 also runs FAST. All other elements work just fine, brews great coffee, but the clock just has a mind of it’s own. So (you can guess what is next), I reached out to Cuisinart/Conair C.S. (again) with the fast clock issue noted in graf above. A ticket was established and I was shipped a #4 BKSP1 to replace the #3 unit. Can you see where this is going? The #4 BKSP1 unit was set up and put into service and the clock on #4 also runs FAST. So … it appears that there is something common going on with the BKSP1 model units. This time I called Cuisinart/Conair C.S. (I had been establishing all other tickets via the inter-web and e-mail). The lady with C.S. was simply excellent and she noted my BKSP1 ticket history and said she would have another unit shipped out straight-a-way. She asked if I still wanted the same BKSP1 model or would I want to get the SP1 model (SP1 is the brushed stainless appearance). I figured what the heck … I would get the SP1 this time. In a couple days I received the #5 SP1, got it all set up and ready to brew coffee the next morning at 4:45. I would glance at the clock on the #5 SP1 as I walked by the unit and the clock was ACCURATE. I was again hopeful that the clock would hold and keep proper time. At 4:45AM the brew cycle started and it actually was at 4:45AM. The clock held it’s accuracy for one day at that point. It has now been 3-days and the clock on the #5 SP1 is “spot on”. So (there is the ‘so’ word again) I noted on the boxes the coffeemakers were shipped in had the countries of manufacture stamped on them. The BKSP1 units were all manufactured in China. The SP1 unit was manufactured in Indonesia. AHA – I said. There is a manufacturing plant issue going on. I did an extensive observation letter to Cuisinart/Conair about my situation and thoughts of what is going on. BTW – In addition the BKSP1 units all dripped extensive moisture droplets down the back side of the unit when the top lid was opened to removed the coffee grounds. This had me wondering if there was a leak as there was water all over the counter under the BKSP1 units. Turns out the drip lip on the upper back of the BKSP1 appears to be ‘flat’ without adequate slope to have the water droplets flow back into the reservoir. Also the drip lip is not as deep as what I noticed on the SP1 units. I also observed (on both the BKSP1 and SP1 models) that there is a lot of moisture condensation that collects on the upper front panel where the control buttons are located. To me this could affect the electronics that I’m guessing is located near or behind this panel. Ergo couple items of note for Cuisinart/Conair: 1) Production molds for the BKSP1 and SP1 are NOT the same between the China and Indonesia manufacturing plants. Thus the drip lip issue noted above. 2) The chips/electronics being used in the China plant for the BKSP1 are defective and can’t keep proper time. All-in-all … The Cuisinart 14-cup coffeemaker is an excellent product and works very well and produces great coffee. Save for the units (in my case) that are manufactured in China where the chips/electronics they are using just don’t work. Adding to that the manufacturing mold difference that slightly changes the size of the drip lip on the upper back. I would suggest getting the the SP1 model and keep your fingers crossed that it is also manufactured in Indonesia as opposed to China. At least until such time as changes are made in the manufacturing facility in China to correct the noted issues. Cheers, Nolan K.

   I bought the Cuisinart DCC-3200BKSP1 in black stainless steel roughly 18 months ago to replace an 8 year old, 10-cup thermal Cuisinart drip coffee maker, which I have used almost daily with no issues. This coffee maker offers the same ease of use, pleasing aesthetic, and reliable operation I expect with a Cuisinart coffee maker. The temperature control works well – I am someone would likes super hot coffee, and the highest temp setting meets my preference, whereas my previous maker was not able to get the coffee to my liking. There is noticeable difference between the 3 temperature settings. My experience with coffee flavor has been positive, coffee is brewed and has good flavor – I have no issues here, but I do feel like it is not quite as good as my old Cuisinart made. As each device is different, there are countless factors that will effect flavor and as with most brewing methods it takes some fine tuning to dial in the coffee to your liking. A few comments on operation and my process using this device: – When the brew is almost complete and the water reservoir is almost empty, the device does make some noises as the pump is trying to suck in the last of the water. This doesn’t bother me but I could see how this would bother some people. – The blue of the LCD screen is a little bit harsh, especially in the middle of the night if you happen to have this nearby where you sleep or if you wander into the kitchen in the dark. Again, not a bit issue, the color could be better/softer but some may see this serve as a small nightlight. – I always wipe the access moisture from the inside of the lid using a paper towel and leave it open to dry after brewing. to prevent any build up of minerals or coffee within the device – plus this keeps it clean and looking brand new. – Using the same paper towel, I occasionally wipe the hot plate and carafe compartment out with the wetted paper towel to clean up any spilled coffee/grounds. This is all I have done as far as cleaning for the entire time I’ve owned the machine (with the exception of using a little stainless steel cleaner on the appropriate parts. For $100, this coffee pot is well worth it for the average coffee drinker. There are some additional colors offered at differing price points, but just know that you are paying for the appearance and the functionality is that of the same $100 coffee pot. With minimal effort as far as maintenance / cleaning, this coffee maker has performed as expected for me for 18 months and there is no reason to think it won’t continue to be a reliable morning companion for years to come.

   I researched coffeemakers until I couldn’t stand it anymore. I finally settled on this Cuisinart and I think it was a good choice overall. The coffee is good flavored (no plastic taste) and the temperature of the coffee is very hot. I like being able to change the carafe temperature setting. We keep it on medium, since we find the high setting is way too hot and we have to wait too long for the coffee to cool to a drinkable temperature. With other coffee makers we have had a problem with the carafe spout dripping coffee all over the counter while pouring the coffee. This Cuisinart does not do that. That was a welcome change. Also, after the brewing cycle on our previous machines, when we would open the top of the coffeemaker to remove the filter with grounds, water would pour down the back of the machine and keep dripping for awhile onto the counter. This Cuisinart drips down the back a little when you first open the top, but not a lot, and it doesn’t keep on dripping. One wipe-up and we’re good. We like the 5-beep signal that the brewing cycle is done. Also, it beeps twice when the 2 hour keep-warm cycle ends. That’s a nice feature. I read many reviews that said there was a problem with a lot of machines having the hot plate rust or flake. We haven’t been using our machine long enough to experience that, but having read those reviews, we’ve made sure to always dry the bottom of the carafe before placing it back on the hot plate. I’ve also read some negative reviews about the design of the black plastic rim around the top of the carafe, saying it holds water or coffee and doesn’t allow for a complete clean out. I find that is true of our machine as well, and I don’t like that design at all. It is tough to pour the last little bit of coffee or water out of the carafe, and liquid does get trapped inside the rim. I noticed this when I washed the carafe this morning with soap and water, rinsed it and then dried it completely. I saw that water continued to drip down the inside which had to have been coming from inside the rim. I’m a little concerned about bacteria forming inside there from leftover coffee, because there’s no way to clean that out completely. Also I’ve attached a picture that shows the inner side of the handle against the glass holds water that has gotten in there, as well as water trapped under the metal band that goes around the lower part of the outside of the carafe. That metal band seems to serve no purpose other than decoration and advertisement, as it says the word Cuisinart on it. Since the inside of the handle is on the outside of the glass, that trapped water is not contaminating or causing a problem with the coffee, so I guess I won’t worry about that one too much, but it is still a design flaw that Cuisinart should correct. The main reason being that I saw a few drops seep out of the bottom of the handle, which could possibly contribute to the rusting issue of the hot plate, since I thought the carafe was totally dry before putting it back on the hot plate, not realizing it would drip afterwards. The design of the top of the carafe is my biggest complaint about this machine. A carafe is such a simple item, it should never have water trapped anywhere in it. My last machine had a very simple flip up lid with no plastic rim around the top of the carafe. Never had a problem with it, except for the spout dripping. That could’ve been solved with molding the glass spout a little bigger. I think Cuisinart should re-design their carafe to eliminate that black plastic rim. Otherwise, we are pretty satisfied with the unit. Time will tell how long it keeps working compared to previous ones we’ve used.

    I have not had some of the issues that others have had, however, I think the quality control and manufacturing processes are deteriorating. I received one of these units and noticed that it rocked back and forth. I looked at the bottom and noticed that there were two round holes where rubber feet should be inserted. The front had the rubber feet, but the back did not. And there were two plastic spur in the center that were high, so the unit rocked back and forth. I tried to get the rubber feet, but this is a lost cause on coffeemakers.us.com. So I returned it and got a replacement. Guess what? The new unit was missing the rubber feet on the back and the unit rocked back and forth. So I cut off the two plastic spurs and the unit now sits flat. This is pretty ridiculous as in no F’s given on the part of the manufacturer.

    I have not been a review buyer.. However, I am very happy with this coffee maker … I upgraded from the Mr. Coffee .. I had it moused together where I ran it for 10 minutes to get the water hot enough … This new machine so far better, makes a delicious cup every time … No more water evaporating waiting for the water to get hot enough … Also, because it’s hot, I use all the coffee with no waste .. I use very expensive Hawaiian Coffee so this machine saves a lot of money .. So far I’ve had it 6 weeks … Easy to clean with the filter .. and easy to prepare … It only took 10 minutes max from sealed box to ready to brew .. So far so good ..

    This is a US coffee maker, fitted with a US electrical outlet plug. Unfortunately this makes it fairly useless to a UK customer like me. Even after securing a step-down converter it won’t start brewing. Nothing in the original ad, including the small print and technical details, suggests this is not a UK coffee maker. Basically all told £150 wasted due to the seller and coffeemakers.us.com being clueless about where they are selling electrical items.

    WOW! Finally we have a great coffee maker which really brews a great cup of coffee. Over the last 3 years or more we have gone through several different brands of coffee machines. Granted none of them cost over a hundred dollars or were real high end machines…..but we just never got a good tasting or real hot cup of coffee. Some of these broke, and some we just threw out. We are in our mid 50’s my wife actually was in coffee sales for several years and now she says, “This is the Best Coffee Maker she’s ever had”. Prior to making this purchase we read many many reviews, and we always look at the good reviews (4 and 5 star) and the bad reviews (1 and 2 star) prior to making a purchase decision. We looked at coffee makers with high end brand names which have been around a long time and looked at machines with a price point from $50 to $130.00. We were willing to buy in that price range and didn’t care….we just finally wanted a good machine which would brew a great cup of coffee and one that would last. What we love about this machine is it brews a very hot cup of coffee. Regardless of the quality of your coffee beans or ground, if your machine won’t brew at the proper temperature you just won’t get the full potential and flavor from your coffee. Second if your water doesn’t steep long enough with your grounds…..again you just won’t get the flavor you desire. This Cuisinart does both and we are SO happy! The features are wonderful. It is the BOLD setting on the display panel which will steep the grounds longer for that full flavor that many of us desire. Apparently the heating element is great quality because you get a truly hot cup of coffee. Other features we like about the machine is it has an easy changeable charcoal water filter in it (comes with filter) even though we put very pure water in anyways. The water reservoir is also very easy to see how much water is actually in the machine. The large 14 cup size glass carafe is nice when we have company over. There is also a carafe temperature button which allows you to select a low, medium, or high temperature to the warming plate depending on how hot you want your refills. Another really great feature this machine has which impressed me is the Clean Button on the display panel. At first I thought that was a button you’d use when you want to clean the machine. It is not. What it actually does is lights up RED when it is time to decalcify the machine. How great is that! The machine comes with a great instruction booklet as well. There are other features but this is what we like best about it. I will write one more very important point which we realized right away but took time to test for a while before writing this review. Because our other machines did not have a bold mode button and did not allow water to be in the brew basket long enough….we always added more coffee to the basket desiring a stronger fuller flavored cup of coffee. Now we find it is never necessary to do that. We were going through a 12 oz. bag in about a week and now with this coffee maker the same bag, and with us drinking the same amount of coffee lasts over 2 weeks! Now that’s real dollars in savings. We drink Fresh Cup Of Hope Organic Direct Trade coffee. It’s not cheap coffee, but oh so delicious. So even though I PAID $76.00 for the machine, because of the savings this coffee machine actually COST me nothing! Get it? That is real savings and as my wife said……it’s the best machine we ever owned and she can’t wait to wake up each morning to a Fresh Hot Cup of Coffee.

    This is a nice looking coffee maker. It is really easy to set up. The display is easy to read. It makes a good cup of coffee. The bottom of the unit gets really hot. If you have heat sensitive counter tops, put something heat proof under it. The unit I received has a warped top, as you can see in the photo. That bothers me, to purchase a poorly made item. Quality control seems to have disappeared from manufacturers.

    UPDATE: Hubby figured out you have to push down the Filter Basket inside the coffee machine. I never had to do that with any of our previous machines so I didn’t know. Operator Error. Works fine now. We’ll see how it holds up. Our coffee machine broke & we were without one for a week. Ordered this one yesterday & just got it today. Was setting it up to rinse before brewing the first pot of coffee just like the directions suggested. The water would not drip into the Carafe unless I held it up to push in the Brew Pause on the coffee machine. I tried it twice! So frustrating! Now I’m waiting on response from Cuisinart customer service to see if there’s a quick fix before I have to send it back.

    Dealt with Mr. Coffee makers for years and just wasn’t happy with the coffee. Finally took the plunge and purchased this one and was and am extremely happy with the taste of the coffee. In addition, the warmer stays on 3 hours or longer if you want. Has 14 cup capacity which I don’t use that much but good to know if you have company. The programming is pretty straight forward. Keep instructions close by. Love the “Bold” button for the brew strength. I liked it so much I bought it so much, I bought a second one for a vacation home.
    Now for the only negative: The only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is for one reason. When you go to fill the water reservoir, the lid doesn’t open far enough to use the coffee pot. You can’t get all the water in that you want so you have to account for that ie if you want 10 cups of water, fill your carafe a little higher and fill coffee maker and dump the small amount leftover. It is kind of annoying. Hope they can fix that somehow.

    This coffee maker is really good, there are a few things to improve but I couldn’t find one that had it all and this one ended up being my choice. Being programmable is a must. We are no baristas, we just need decent flavour coffee on time. Tip: I saw a review complaining about overflowing as it brews, it did happen to me once, then I noticed the insert (where we place the paper filter) needed to be latched in place. If it just sits there without the extra gentle push, the spring won’t open enough to allow coffee flow and you will end up with grains in your coffee and a very messy countertop. I actually like this feature, I had a coffee maker at my camper that the grain weight alone wasn’t enough and it would overflow all the time. Hence us taking our home machine to the camper and buying this one. Pros: The carafe: this is the 1st coffee maker we have that doesn’t spill as we pour. Just make sure the lid is latched. With our previous ones you had to pour in slow motion to prevent a mess, time my husband doesn’t have on his morning rush to work. Waking up to a counter without coffee spills, is a joy. Talking about clean, the opening is pretty wide and easy to wash even by big hands. Temperature setting: I drink my coffee with milk and dont have patience to warm it up (I wake up very slowly). My morning coffee is now hotter. Also, due to our different schedules, sometimes by the time I get up the warmer has already timed out, having hotter coffee gives me more time to turn it back on before it is actually cold. Cons: The reservoir opening is really ackward to pour water if you use the carafe, the lid gets on the way (see pic). Our old cheap Mr Coffee opens to the side, it is a lot easier to fill with water. I gave up and now use the sink sprayer. Takes a long time brewing. Don’t forget to set up the timer! This is the biggest issue for the hubby. He wakes up very early for work and waiting around for coffee to start his routine is enough to grant him a grumpy mood. He is a Bunn lover and I hate the idea of wasting energy keeping water hot all day when you only use it in the morning. Things I wish I had: Dual timer: I wish coffee makers, like home thermostats and alarm clocks, would have the option to create 2 different set of schedules so we could use the programmable feature during the week and on weekends. I could delay the timer on weekends, but I don’t want to risk forgetting to reset for Monday. Warmer timer: I wish I could set how long the warmer is kept on, to me 3 or 4h would be ideal to accomodate the both if us. Some competitors have this feature. Removable water tank: I looked at other brands with removable water tank, but there were a lot of complaints about water leak, so i gave it up.

    I really like this coffee maker so far. It’s like the features that you can make bolder coffee if you wish to. I also like the fact that you can adjust the temperature of the plate that the pot sits on. The only feature I don’t like is the pot. It has no hinge on the pot cover so on order to fill it you need to remove the lid. Other than that so far so good ☕️!!

    I should have known by getting a white-ish coffee maker, it requires work! This is just a heads up that the lid of this coffee pot will stain very quickly!! I wash it every night with soap and a scrub brush. Then I clean it twice a week with baking soda, vinega & lemon juice. As you can see after having this only 2 months, it is nearly, permanently stained. Also, the glass of the coffee pot is exceptionally finicky, in the way that you also have to wash it out with hot water and soap (not a standard, obvious quick wash), but it has to be really washed, to remove cloudy look and/or a line, EACH day! INSIDE the lid of the coffee maker, where are you would place the filter, it is also an area that collects little coffee grinds that requires cleaning. It will clean easily if you pour water all down in there, but then the water goes through the hole onto the element, is all. So to clean it with a cloth is a bit tricky because the coffee grinds collect and you can only get it with the corner of the cloth, it’s narrow. Yes, these are points that may not be important to some people, but I am only doing this review for those who may find this important. Yes, it does look pretty on the counter. I bought this one for looks and not as much functionality and low maintenance. We have always had stainless steel coffee pots and coffee makers and they are less maintenance.     Perfection out of the box marred by a problem at month 1. The charcoal water filter installed with no issue. However, today when filling water…the lid would not fully close. I could see the plastic holder for the charcoal pod was floating and preventing the lid from closing. If I held it in place with one hand and closed the lid ever so gently, the lid stayed closed. There is no snug fit, click or lock in place once the pod holder is in place. When I fill the coffee maker (on the opposite side) the pod floats once the maker is full. I hope to adjust the review, but am having to contact Cuisinart Support to attempt at a resolution. EDIT: a call to Cuisinart support was quickly taken and after providing SN and Model Number the person understood the issue and is sending me a new charcoal filter pod holder (the whole plastic “stick”) Pictures show the area. Attaching a couple of ounces of brass or stainless steel (lead fishing weights would be a bad idea, but you get the idea) = would fix the float issue I’d REALLY like to see o-rings or a water tight seal as every coffee maker I had has “died” when a stray coffee ground or two gets in the very small opening seen in the first pic. I always use filtered water (Berkey) so it is not a calcium or “scale” build-up issue causing them to “die”. I will provide edit #2 when the new part arrives and I try it out. EDIT #2: Conair is the parent company for Cuisinart and sent me a new part in about a week. It did fit much better and had no issue staying in place. I’ve had several dozen carafes of coffee since then and am happy with my purchase. Med temp (default for hotplate) is plenty hot for me. Hotplate surface is holding up and not flaking. I never take the lid off the carafe and just do a rinse and swish to clean (yes, I’m lazy). For the money, I am hard-pressed to find anything better. Better than reasonable, really good.

    After doing a LOT of research, I decided to order this coffee maker. Taking into account the negative reviews, my personal experience is a mix but mostly on the positive side. Some of the reviews mention the plastic smell/taste. It WAS there but only for the first few pots. After the first few, it’s totally gone. And regarding the quickness of how fast it makes coffee. It works well enough for me. It’s done before I know it. It’s got a lot of really nice features and it brews coffee hotter than any other coffee maker I have ever had. AND It’s about the only one with this capacity in this price range. I run filtered water and in combination with the in-machine charcoal filters, it makes a darn good cup. And by the way, I picked up a pack of these filters http://www.coffeemakers.us.com.com/gp/product/B013H3UMEU and they work great. Plus, they are WAY less than the Cuisinart brand ones. The only reason I couldn’t give it 5 stars is for one reason. When you go to fill the water reservoir, the lid doesn’t open far enough to use the coffee pot. You have to get real creative when you reach the end of the pour. Is that a deal killer? Not really, it’s just a minor annoyance and the primary reason I didn’t feel this coffee maker was 5 star worthy. Bottom Line: This is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. Although it’s not perfect, (and can it be for this price) I am very happy with this coffee maker and I’m sure you will be too. UPDATE: 3 1/2 months later it has stopped working correctly. The water reservoir no longer empties completely. Towards the end of the cycle, the unit will start this series of clicking and chunking sounds, like it can’t siphon the water. The maker will make its series of beeps like it’s done but there will be “4 cups” worth of water left in the reservoir. I only use soft water that has been filtered. It’s the only water that has ever gone through the maker. I make about 6 pots per week on average. I am also diligent about changing the little charcoal filters. Another thing to note. It seem to be boiling off a LOT of the water and as a result there is a large amount steam coming off the machine. This has ruined the underside of my cabinet. Do NOT get this unit and put it under a cabinet. I now pull it out from under the cabinet when I am making a pot. UPDATE #2: As it turns out, it appears that the maker just needed a good cleaning. I ran a solution of CLR and ALL kinds of lime chucks came out. After that, it ended up working properly again. Note to self: When the machine says it needs to be cleaned, clean it. It knows more than you do. It’s part of Skynet. UPDATE #3: 4 Months after purchase. The black coating on the warmer plate is flaking off. This is pretty disappointing.

    Beyond expectation (knock on wood). We’ve had it for half a year now, maybe, and haven’t had any trouble at all. Haven’t needed to clean it either – except for dispensing with the grinds (into compost) and keeping the top up to dry out naturally (tends to always collect a lot of moisture). Have not used the cleaning function as the machine hasn’t requested us to do that yet… The simmering function lasts maybe 2 hours and on HIGH keeps the coffee piping hot.

The color is lighter than the picture which we love because it matches our color scheme. This one pours very well, our old Ninja dripped and spilled all over the counter every time we would use it.     We’ve replaced an older Cuisinart DCC-1200 with this DCC-3200. Since it’s a popular line, I thought others might be interested in how they compare. (In the attached comparison photos, the 1200 is on the left and the 3200 is on the right): Taste: Coffee in the 3200 is more flavorful. A new machine might be expected to be better, but I think they’ve gotten the flow and temperature of the brewing process better. Temperature: The brewed coffee is much hotter. Both units have three temperature settings for the hot plate, but the settings on the 3200 are hotter. Size and Capacity. The 3200 handles 14 cups compared to the 1200’s 12 cups. Yet as you can see from the photos, they are the same height to fit on a counter. They seem to get the extra capacity by making the 3200 a little deeper from front to back. We’ve been surprised at how useful the extra capacity is. Carafe: The new glass carafe is just like the old one, only larger. It pours nicely with or without the lid on it. The new lid works the same as the old one, popping off and on. (I read some complaints about the lid on an intervening model with a spring opening, but if so, they fixed that by going back to the 1200 style). As far as I can tell, there isn’t a version of the 3200 designed for a thermal carafe like there is for the 12-cup models. I prefer the glass carafe because it keeps the coffee hotter longer, and I can always pour the coffee into a thermal carafe if I want to. Water Filling. The bigger size also increases the size of the water fill hole. The lid on the top of the 3200 unit raises to 90 degrees straight up, where the lid on the 1200 tilted further back and out of the way. Still the 3200 is easier to fill, and I suspect that the restriction on the tilt may help preserve the integrity of the hot water tube. Sneak a Cup. Taking out the carafe to sneak a cup during brewing worked great on the 1200 with little dripping, and still does on the 3200. Basket. The basket on the 3200 is very similar to the 1200, but a slightly different shape to accommodate more grounds for 14 cups. Actually, grounds just barely fit with a 4 cup paper filter in the new basket, and sometimes go above the filter in the basket. The basket actually seems more designed for the included gold filter. Water filter. The 3200 uses the exact same carbon filters and filter holder as the 1200, but the holder seems to fit more snugly in its hole, which may help prevent clogging (see below) Beep. The 3200 allows you to turn of the coffee-ready beep if you want. Controls. Controls on the 3200 are a little easier. The 3200 uses all push buttons with no switches. Separate hour and minute settings make it a little easier to program and set the clock. There is a new “Bold” setting which does indeed seem to result in stronger coffee. There is still a setting for smaller, 1-4 cup pots, but I never use that. You can still set the hot plate to stay hot for up to 4 hours, which is important to me. There is a fairly bright blue glow from the LED display on the 3200. Cleaning. There was a sensor button on the hot plate of the 1200 that’s gone on the 3200, so the plate stays cleaner. The extra stainless steel looks good on the 3200 but probably shows smudges more and might benefit from special cleaner fluids. Coffee Grounds Overflowing and Clogging. This was the biggest problem before, and I don’t know if it’s fixed, but it seems better. On the 1200, if you put too many coffee grounds in the filter it could overflow in the brewing process, and sometimes grounds would get into the water system and clog the tube. The 1200 was designed not to be repairable, but customers tried anyway with some difficulty. After one successful repair, we eventually had to replace the 1200. So far, we have not had any overflow issues with the 3200. The larger basket (with possibly a bigger drip opening), the deeper reservoir and longer case, and the more stable, non-tilting lid may help with this, but we will see how it works over time. I do notice that they made the bottom panel easier to remove, with regular screws instead of Torx, if it ever comes to that. My one tip for users is to always use the filter holder with a filter in it, even if your water is fine, because that should help prevent grounds from getting into the heating system. In all, the 3200 is an excellent replacement for the 1200, and worth the extra money if you are choosing between the two models new.

    I’ve only made two 1/2 pots of coffee so far so I can’t speak to many of the other complaints about this maker of over flowing coffee grounds for large brew pots or leaking water, but based on some other flaws I think it has, I will assume it would be likely. While the coffee it makes is good and the many smaller features are nice (variable auto shut off time, carafe temperature setting, clean indicator/button, bold/regular setting, user set ready tone, and 1-4 cup setting) it has one or two other major design flaws that are a BIG negative to me. It should probably deserve a 2 or 3 star rating just for being able to make a good cup of coffee, but if people are like me when researching a product, I only read a few of the 5 star and 1 star reviews if there are thousands to choose from, so I’m giving it a 1 star in hopes more people will be aware of what I feel are it’s poor design. The biggest negative in my opinion is the carafe design. The plastic rim around the top, and it’s size, make it impossible to completely pour all the water out of it and into the the top of the machine for filling. The only way to completely empty the water to be used for making the coffee into the top, is to totally turn the carafe upside down, otherwise the plastic lip on the top of the carafe will retain un-brewed water. The location and size of the fill area on the top in the back corner is difficult to fill because of the size of the carafe and the lid of the coffee maker not folding far enough back out of the way to tilt the carafe more – count on spilling water over the back or side. So unless you want to use a different container with a long spout to add water to the coffee maker, you will be frustrated by this design flaw EVERY time you fill the machine to make coffee. The coffee maker this is replacing a Gevalia coffee maker that I had gotten for free several years ago for trying their coffee, and it had a second hinged lid on the top that would open and lay flat so you could pour the water in unobstructed. It also had a carafe with a lip that was all glass with no obstruction to retain water. Second negative is the length of the power cord. My old Gevalia coffee maker has a 39” cord. This maker only has a 24” cord with a thinner wire gauge. So you need to consider where you will be placing this coffee maker in relation to your wall plugs. I don’t like to position my maker under an overhead cupboard because the steam that comes out during the brewing process will ruin the underside of the cupboard. Plus it would be impossible to fill the maker while under the cupboard. So Cuisinart has saved literally a few pennies by giving you a very short power cord at your expense. Cuisinart explains the reason for the short cord in their manual as “A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.” Unless you are walking on your counters or rolling around on them, I don’t see this as a valid reason for a shorter cord. You be the judge on whether Cuisinart is looking out for your best interest and providing a good customer experience or only concerned about their bottom line. There is short, and then there is too short. They should have just simply told the truth – we saved a few pennies by giving you a short cord. Another thing that I find annoying is the blue backlit display. While this doesn’t affect the coffee quality, it is annoying. My old maker had a digital display, but it wasn’t lit up. This maker has the ability to turn the “ready tone” on or off and set the auto-shutoff time, it should also have the ability to turn off the backlit display if desired or an auto shutoff of the backlight after a certain amount of time. Don’t know if this uses any more electricity than a plain digital display, but I would suspect it does. While this feature may just take some getting used to, I would prefer to not have that blue backlit display always glowing in my kitchen. I have enough other appliances in my kitchen that display time, I don’t need my coffee maker to glow another clock in my face. When I started writing this review I was undecided whether I would keep this coffee maker or return it. As I finished writing this, I grew more annoyed and decided I didn’t want to hate this coffee maker every time I went to fill it and spilled water all over the counter – there are better ones out there. Also, keep in mind that the 14 cup carafe is BIG and if you don’t usually make a full pot of coffee go with a 10 or 12 cup model, it will be easier to handle. I’ve included some photos of my old coffee maker design features versus this Cuisinart’s features and you can see I would have been taking a few steps backwards using the Cuisinart. I am now looking at the Braun models as they have the same features as the Cuisinart, but with a more user friendly carafe. Update 10/11/19: I returned the Cuisinart DCC-3200 and bought a Braun KF-7150 12 cup coffee maker, which was even a little bit cheaper. It has all the same features/settings as the Cuisinart except it didn’t include a coffee measuring scoop (which I didn’t need anyway) and it doesn’t “beep” when the coffee is done brewing . There is a small flashing light on the Braun that stops flashing when it has finished brewing. The extra charcoal filters that I had bought to use with the Cuisinart also fit the Braun. The Braun has a longer power cord (33”), a full glass lip on the carafe which allows you to pour the entire contents into the top of the machine when filling it with water and a lid that will flip up with your thumb to make filling the carafe with water very easy. The clock on the Braun is an unobtrusive display with a black background and white numbers. The Braun also makes a decent cup of coffee. A few simple little design features on the Braun that make it much more user friendly and it has a 3 yr. warranty – same as the Cuisinart.

    My wife and I ran a pretty basic Mr. Coffee into the ground after about a decade, and went with this as a replacement for it. It is a major step up in just about every way. The richness of the flavor on the bold setting, for one – even with the extra two cups this coffee maker brews, I can actually use less coffee grounds and still have stronger coffee. As a guy who likes my coffee super strong, I am loving this. The 14 cup carafe is nice, as is the option to brew a single mug at a time with the 1-4 cup setting. And this doesn’t require paper filters. I’m not saying that the upgrade will pay for itself necessarily, but each of these small things does save a few bucks here and there. I am thoroughly enjoying the upgrade and feeling like I’m getting my money’s worth out of it already.
