There are no instructions that came with mine. 60 plus years of drinking coffee in a variety of coffee makers, I know how to use this, and it works pretty good. On our electric stove, it takes about 10 – 12 minutes for a full 8 cups to complete. The cool thing about a percolator design, it heats the water to the perfect brewing temp of 205°F. You can tell when it is done when the glass dome shows the water becoming darker. As soon as you see the tint start, give it about 2 more minutes. Lower the heat if it is perking to violently. Turn off the heat and allow it to stop perking. Then serve. Be careful, this makes nice HOT coffee. I want to note the spring. Be careful NOT to lose this spring. The percolator will allow coffee grounds to get into the coffee without the spring. I found that I could push the spring down onto the tube stop enough that the spring stop hold the spring firmly, reducing the chance of losing it. All in all this is a very good, well made percolator coffee maker. Makes really good coffee. Perfect in the morning. Well worth a full 5 stars!

My first one was a lightning deal. There’s nothing I don’t like. It’s quality made of stainless steel and with glass percolator top. It’s easy to clean. I used a tumbler straw brush to clean the tube. The lid is attached. I use Melitta Disc coffee filters with all my brewing. Cafe Du Monde at my camping trip was sooo good on a cold day. It percolates and makes coffee. The rest is up to you. I use freshly ground beans . I’ve timed how long it takes experimented with the amount of coffee I like for the cup of coffee I enjoy. One big tip I can share with anyone who doesn’t have experience with this kind of coffee maker. You need to season it kind of like a cast iron skillet. Fill The basket and percolate it for a good hour. Let it sit all night with that strong coffee in there and from here on out just rinse it no need to scrub with soap and water. I do run a small brush threw the stem about once a week to ensure it doesn’t get clogged up over time with buildup. With a little care this will be the last time you’ll ever buy a coffee maker. I am the only coffee drinker in my house so I generally only make four cups but I can make 8 cups when I have company that may enjoy coffee. Keep in mind this is referring to 8 oz cups Most people drink almost if not double that amount in their morning coffee mug. That’s something you should consider and buy the right size coffee pot for your household needs. It’s not as convenient or time efficient as a drip coffee pot. But in my opinion and taste and those are very subjective to each person with that in mind , this makes a much better cup of coffee and worth the extra effort to me. From the time I start till I’m pouring my coffee in the cup including grinding the beans is about 20 min. I set a timer and its ready when I go out the for work. Also you should let it sit a few minutes before pouring so any grounds that sneak through the basket settle to the bottom and will not end up in your cup unless you pour the last little bit in it, If you use a coarse ground coffee you don’t need a filter so in my opinion this gives you a much better cup of coffee because the filter takes away some of the oils that add flavor to your coffee. But if you’re happy with store-bought already ground coffee, get the filters that they sell for these and it works just fine. After reading through some of the negative reviews ones that says this makes a horrible cup of coffee that is 100% user error. I did see reports of the electric one leaking keep in mind I am reviewing the stove top version One lady said the glass on top broke there any number of reasons for this but I have not had any issues with mine possibly she got a cracked one? A few people stated that the handle caught on fire or melted I think this would really be subject to the size of your burner or possibly an electric burner If you had a larger diameter circle of fire or heat than the outside diameter of your actual coffee pot this could very easily be an issue. So use a little caution and place your coffee pot so the handle isn’t directly over flames reaching around the pot or heat traveling straight up from an electric burner to the handle. With a gas stove this could be circumvented with placement as well as not turning the heat up so high that the circle of fire is bigger than the coffee pot. Someone said the experienced wobble as if the metal was probably too thin and it didn’t work right for them I’m guessing they had it on a electric burner? I have not experienced this on my gas burner. People also mention the metallic taste one person even said hopefully after a few uses and washings that will go away that will not go away if you do not season your coffee maker. From what I saw The majority of bad reviews for this coffee maker come from user error on the opinion based on lack of experience with this type of coffee maker. I am not saying this is the best one ever made It is a moderate priced stove top stainless steel percolator. The one I received the build quality was fine It does what is designed to do. If you say your pot makes crappy pasta chances are you are just not good at cooking pasta take a little time and learn how to do it right and you will enjoy it.

I’m Hispanic, so I’m used to using the small expresso stove top coffee maker. That said, I was in the market for a bigger coffee maker because I drink a lot of coffee and I also don’t want to have to make coffee multiple times because my Hispanic expresso machine only makes a small quantity. I also used the drip coffee maker which wasn’t my favorite because I felt that I used too much coffee and it never came out the way I wanted it. I’d also like to add that I’ve been using a Keurig which is convenient but those pods are too expensive for me and I’m concerned with the burned plastic consumption. As advised for much more expensive coffee drippers, I ran several solutions of 50:50 water : vinegar thru the device to leach the plastic fumes from it. (The plastic issue is not unique to just this brand dripper.) Each time I paused the process about one minute into the “perk” by unplugging the power. I allowed solution to incubate about an hour with the top closed, and then plugged the power back in to allow the drip process to complete. I did this with the basket in place, then followed with a couple rinse perks with clean water. This was repeated two more times, allowing the device to dry thoroughly between each cycle. Result? Now free of plastic fumes. I then purchased size #1 cone filters on coffeemakers.us.com. With a few folds they nest inside the mesh basket (even though it is not recommended to use a filter). I now have good coffee with convenient cleanup from this cheap, compact, packable, single-serve dripper. No pods. No pouches. Just good coffee from beans of my choice, with compost-friendly left-overs. * Here are two other tricks I learned to squeeze a more full-bodied cup from the grounds: Use refrigerated water; it slows the perk. Otherwise, it perks in about three minutes. Also, I stop the perk about half-way through by unplugging the power (not recommended for everyone), and allow the grounds to rest for one minute. Then, return the plug to power to complete the drip. I will probably buy another one of these as a spare while they are still available.

It’s small and compact. And brews great. The only think I don’t like is the filter. It comes with a reusable filter but the coffee goes through it fast . You end up with a weak cup of coffee. What I done to fix the problem is I poke a hole in a cup cake paper and it fit perfectly inside the reusable filter. The coffee brews longer for a better tasting cup of coffee. It will be expensive to use baking cups for filters so I’m looking for some small filters that will work. Update. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PERCOLATOR. I purchased one in 2023 and the glass top has broken/cracked three times. The manufacturer replaced the glass top the first time, but refused to replace it the second time. As you can see in the photo, there’s a large piece of glass that broke off inside the unit; on top of the coffee strainer. This results in a potential serious injury. I’ve contacted the Consumer Products Safety Commission and submitted a complaint to investigate. However, the manufacturer hasn’t expressed the need to either recall the unit or to improve the product; to avoid any risk to the Consumer. Hopefully, they do; but if not, I definitely would not purchase it.
