   TLDR: hotter longer, much less grit, harder to clean, high minimum brew requirements, poor powder coat finish, great customer service. I bought this as an upgrade to my body glass French press. Overall it is a much better press. It’s hotter longer and the dual filters do a fantastic job. Before, at the end of my coffee, it was almost unbearable. It was like gritty sludge. It was like drinking dirt. Now with the espro 7, it’s much less, and what does get through is so fine, that I can drink the last drop. It’s hotter longer, but it’s not vacuum insulated. It stays hot for 1 hour, warm after another 30 minutes. After that its Luke warm. It’s harder to clean but not by much. With glass, I can just rinse and dump it out, set it to dry and it’s good to go. By comparison, the espro filters clean very easily. In fact, the long term maintenance is probably easier. But the stainless steel press doesn’t rinse as easily. It might still have some residue and require a brush on daily use. My biggest gripe about this is the high minimum requirements. I usually just brew enough to make one cup, but this requires 2 tablespoons of grounds and enough for 1 and a half cups of coffee. The way the filter is, it seems like more water gets trapped in the bottom, and that’s why it needs more water. It’s not a big deal, but I grind my beans each use, so it doubles my grinding time and consumes my beans faster. These are bigger and heavier than a glass press. My powder coat was chipped under the handle and even had some rust built up on it. I contacted the company directly and they’re sending me a new one free of charge. And I get to keep the old one! (which still works just fine) Also the lid is painted white, but it’s plastic and not a sturdy powder coat. It scuffs easily after just a couple days of use. I believe the stainless steel (no powder coat) option has a stainless steel lid. The video attached shows what very little grit does make it into the cup. The picture shows the grit stuck between the two filters. The second picture shows the chipped paint.

   I hardly ever write reviews but wanted to help anyone who is debating whether to buy this or not so here it goes: After breaking our second Chemex we were on vacation and the Vrbo we were staying at had a stainless steel French press (it was old and we couldn’t figure out the brand). My wife commented on how great it was and it made really good coffee (she grew up in the coffee region of Colombia and knows about coffee!). So when we got home my search began to surprise her with a stainless steel French press. I will say after reading some of the reviews I was a bit skeptical and almost went with another brand. After reading everything ai could find I decided to go with the Espro in 32. She loved the aesthetics and we knew it was built to last. After reading the instructions on the site and some of the reviewers, I began to make some excellent cups of coffee! If you are hesitating don’t, it doesn’t disappoint! So this is long but wanted to address issues posted on here: yes you will get some coffee at the bottom but just pump and you will get every last drop (if you need it lol) It does keep coffee warm for a “reasonable amount of time not all morning!) Thriw it in the microwave if it’s been hours smh) We ended up getting the smaller one for during the week when on the run….Large makes 3-4 cups Small 2-3 so depending on the day (Large on the weekends) oh and we found no difference based on size. I would purchase this and it may seem a bit expensive but other than having to replace the filter this thing is indestructible and you will get your money’s worth over time. I hope this was helpful….I could go into what worked for us but this is long already I would definitely invest in a burr grinder and scale if you don’t have one and prepare to have amazing coffee everyday!

   The look of this French press is great! I wanted something sleek that fit with my new kettle, creating just a little morning vibe. So first impressions were solid – a nice feel in the texture and color, clean and simple design, and a nice match to other appliances and kitchen decor. Moving from those first visuals, the interior makes making coffee or tea super easy, with minimum water and demarcations for max coffee or max tea. I frankly thought the filter part was a bit of a gimmick, but after brewing my first coffee I was really surprised at how little, remarkably little, grounds were at the bottom of my cup, and how perfectly rounded the coffee taste. Usually I also feel a bit of subtext pressure to drink coffee quickly when using a French press, since it can go cold fairly quickly – that is where this design especially shined! I could pour out an amount I wanted and just let the rest sit until I was ready for more. The last cup was as smooth as the first – and was still hot to enjoy! In a hurry up world it’s nice sometimes to take a moment and just enjoy…

   Works very well but the matte black finish (which was part of my selling point) is already chipping away after 2 months of use and regular cleaning. The functionality of the product I give 5 stars. I use smooth coffee with this and it takes the acidic factor away which meets my needs. However. This thing will now look like a silver and matte black pot that’s been through a house fire shortly. I don’t think an eye pleasing esthetic should be ruined so easily and be this expensive. The answer is simple though. Don’t sell it in powder coated colors. If it works really well. I’m sure people will just say screw it I’ll get the silver one because of how well it works. This will look like crap over time though and it’s a bummer.

   I made my first cup today and it tasted awesome. It is easy to use and I had no problems cleaning it. I’d give this 5 stars except I’m disappointed that for a $100+ stainless well constructed french press, that the inside finish is not very good. You can see and feel the machining marks (see photo). I have concerns about the long term effects. Although easy go clean, it seems a good place to trap fine grounds but mainly, it just looks bad for the cost. Has anyine else seen this? I’m debating sending it back as a defect and seeing if a replacement has a better inside finish.

   I used this a few times a week for over a year, it makes great coffee, had no issues except the white finish scuffs easily even with handwashing. But! This weekend I used it. Same as always— did not overfill it, etc.- and when depressing the plunger, it “burped.” Scalding hot coffee spurted out everywhere, and burned my arm quite badly. I am so grateful my toddler was not nearby when this happened, it could have been disastrous! This is a dangerous product. I will not be using it again.

    I am confounded by this product. It is 3x the price of any other French press and does not deliver. While it does have an effective filtration system (a little finicky to take a part but it is effective at filtering the grounds) the insulation is terrible. I found myself needing to microwave any coffee poured after 30 minutes. I nerded out and set up a thermometer to read the temperature inside and out over time. By 40 minutes the coffee was already in the 150’s which is not warm enough once it goes in the mug. I am adding a picture after 5 minutes showing the exterior at over 132 degrees when the inside at 189, demonstrating how poorly insulated this press is. For the money I expect at this should be a vacuum like a yeti or any other quality insulated steel product.

    Aside from making great coffee, it really looks chic with its polished silver look. It’s not as light as my previous glass french press but I did break that one. It’s also not as easy to clean as the glass french press because of the dual filter, with one attached to the rod. But those are small matters compared to how beautiful it looks and how solid the stainless steel material is. I just love looking at it. Hope it does last forever.

    I was initially pleased with the Espro press and the taste of the coffee I made with it. Over time, I grew increasingly dissatisfied with the basket design of the filter. I was initially skeptical of the combination of plastic and metal mesh, which eventually proved justified. I found that I needed to wait for at least 10 minutes for the coffee grounds to settle or the basket would be difficult to plunge, resulting in grounds in my cup. While the easy disassembly of the basket seemed useful to clean at first, it quickly became a chore compared to the layered disk style, which can usually be rinsed without disassembly. Finally, in less than two years using the Espro, the metal mesh has detached from the plastic cage of the basket. At this point, I don’t feel the basket is worth replacing and will instead find a comparable press with a disk plunger and no plastic parts.

    Has lead in it. The base where there is a black circle is lead. I tried contacting the company asking if it had lead, and they told me it was proprietary. Made in China. So I bought the strips and tested it myself and sure enough it contains lead. Do not use. Toxic.

    Hello coffee lovers, if you’re looking to buy this expensive French press, then you probably already did your research and know why it’s up there, so I won’t get into that. If you’re concerned about lead, I’m here to address that. Another reviewer some while back said they found lead on the exposed circle part on their Espro under the sticker. I used my $80 spray and light to test that circle part and found that it was NOT positive for lead. Mind you, I’ve used this kit to test known objects with lead like my Japanese and Turkish teacups, as well as Been There Starbucks mugs (particularly the ones with red/orange and blue paints) and those all tested positive with neon green glowing results. In short, if you receive this “Designed in USA, Made in China” version, you’re okay on NOT having lead. That said, I ordered again to check and happened to get the “Designed in Vancouver, Made in China” version which did NOT have the exposed black dot on the bottom of the Espro where the sticker was—just a flat metal bottom (see pics). It seems that when Espro, originally Vancouver based, was sold to a Wisconsin company, they cheapened out on that part. I’ve laid out the design differences below: Designed in Vancouver version – Solid metal bottom (no exposed black dot) – Coffee press top section is NOT unscrew-able, just the bottom where the mesh is. – Espro logo and “E” letter design on press top Designed in USA version (newer model) – Exposed black dot on bottom – Coffee press top unscrews, making for easier cleanup – Simple Espro logo (“E” logo removed) on press top To sum up, both versions are good on NOT having lead as far as I’m concerned and are very similar, but note the small design differences. The boxes look similar but will say where they were designed, so you’ll know which version you got when you receive it. Hope this helps and have a happy caffeinated day, everyone!

    So “32 oz” isn’t how much coffee you can get out of it, it’s how much water the vessel can hold. Now subtract the volume for the coffee grounds and the mesh basket. For two 16 oz coffee mugs (think standard Starbucks city mugs), we got maybe 1 1/3 mugs worth out of this. Compare that to our old Bodum 8-cup / 34 oz which gave us two full mugs plus some refill. The coffee tastes great, but we have to brew twice as often, so it loses a star. A “48 oz” would be perfect

    I discovered the Espro when visiting a friend’s home and ordered both the 18oz and 32oz so I have different options depending on how many are having coffee. I love the elegant clean lines of this press, it looks really attractive. The double filter works well and the insulation keeps the coffee hot for an hour and warm for longer. As the outside doesn’t get hot and the base is really steady it’s easy to use. Also, really simple to clean. Love it!

    Really like the flavor out of this coffee and it’s super easy to use. I like that it stops the coffee from brewing once you press it and you can keep your coffee warm in there for a few hours. The special double filter is the best I’ve tried but do know that you will still get sludge at the bottom of your coffee. The double filter is NOT easy to clean but most french presses are more involved in this aspect compared to other brew methods. I wanted the larger size to brew several cups but was completely surprised by how huge it is. It’s pretty big for what it is. The one REAL big CON is that because the filter doesn’t fully reach the bottom of the press, you are always left with some coffee at the bottom. Like a sizable amount of coffee that will always be wasted. For a single 3 cup brew, I’m brewing 12g more coffee which over time leads to lots of extra expense and waste. I’ve already seen my coffee use go way up merely just from this wasted coffee down below the filter.

    I originally bought the white one (from Williams and Sonoma). It immediately got marks from touching ANYTHING. Like if you clean it in your sink and it touches the side of the sink, mark! If you see it in your drying area and it brushes any pots, pans, flatware, etc, mark! THESE MARKS ARE NOT WASHABLE and after a year, well, see the photo. I have common white plates, bowls, coffee cups, serving bowls, mixing bowls, etc, that I’ve used for years. None of them have a single mark. Whatever this white coating on this coffee press is though, it wasn’t designed for actual use in a kitchen. I like the press itself though, even though it’s expensive. I tried to replace this one with another from coffeemakers.us.com and in the end I just bought another of this same model except this time I got a non-painted one. That says that, as far as operation goes, I like this coffee press. Just avoid the painted ones! IMO they should take the painted ones off the market until they figure out a better paint that doesn’t have this issue.

    This French Press makes great coffee, but I would recommend getting the stainless steel finish, not the black. Based on other reviews, I was extremely careful when handling and washing. Didn’t matter. The black finish started scratching and peeling pretty quickly. And the description–“keeps your brew hot for hours”–is not true. Yes, if you preheat it, it will keep the coffee warmer longer, but not hot, and not “for hours.”

    After doing a lot of research I decided to purchase the ESPRO P7 French Press. I did this for several reasons: 1. It’s insulated stainless steel and not GLASS. This was important to us because while glass is pretty, it is also fragile and we would likely accidentally break a glass french press within months, 2. The reusable double filtration system on this French Press practically eliminates any grinds ending up in your cup of coffee. The system is simple to clean and also highly effective. 3. Dishwasher safe. After you brew, simply scrape out the grinds into the compost or trash bin and then give it a quick rinse and toss the carafe and plunger in the dishwasher. 4. Size. This french press is large enough to make 32oz of coffee per brew. This allows enough for me and my wife to share. The insulated stainless keeps the brew warm long enough that we can each have a cup when we are ready in the morning.

    I’ve only used it twice, but I love it already. The carafe amazing. Its comforting to know that I can drop it and the worse thing that would happen is a dent. I made the decision to go back to a french press because my BonaVida kept stalling out and I don’t want to shell out the $200 for a coffee maker that makes a proper cup of coffee. Unlike a machine if a part breaks, the replacement plunger isn’t overly expensive. My Aeropress is great, but a little too time-consuming for the work week. The traditional French Press plunger produces too much sediment for me. The plunger system on the Espropress is fabulous. The paper filters look ridiculously expensive, but I’m sure I could find a DIY hack. Even without the paper filter, this method produces a pretty clean cup of coffee. I’ve read some complaints about the amount of coffee that is left unused. It’s minimal and I would never finish cup French Press anyways because of the sediment at the bottom. Initial impressions are extremely positive. I can’t believe it took somebody this long to come up with this idea.

    There’s no lead. I saw a review that said this French press somehow had lead below the sticker on the bottom. It was the only thing that kept me from buying it. As you can see from the picture the sticker is removed and… no lead. It’s just flat stainless steel. By the way, coffee out of this thing is fantastic. It filters like no other French press out there, and makes the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. You can go crazy with your grinder—get down to near extra fine grinds and still not see a single grain in your pour. It’s like a chemex without the fuss. I saw complaints that you lose about a bit of coffee at the bottom to the filter, but it’s literally less than a sip’s worth. I make a tall 16oz cup of coffee for my partner and I, never noticed it. Fantastic product, would buy again but I’m pretty sure I won’t have to, it’s built like a tank.

    This may be my favorite kitchen gadget ever!!! A couple days after I bought this and a kettle, we got an ice storm here in Oregon and ended up losing power for 7 days. THANKFULLY we have natural gas for our cooking and hot water, so we were at least able to light the cooktop to boil water to make coffee in our brand new French press!! This baby got a lot of use in those 7 days. We still use it weekly and on weekends, but still use the kuerig on most work mornings. It’s been easy to keep clean and easy to use.
