   With Coffee prices booming K-cups are expensive. 24 cups for 15 or 16 dollars. So what is the solution maybe an old school Percolator my parents had one before they got a Mr. Coffee and my Grandma used one for my Grampa’s Thermos when he took me fishing on the wkds at 6am before Sunrise because they bite better. Anyhow the coffee I personally like is Community House Blend I can get a bag of 12 oz. for about 7 bucks which saves me ALOT of money over the K cups. This Percolator seems solid, and you can wash the insides in the dishwasher. My other half hadn’t used a Percolator in some time and it took a bit to get the spring in place, but after she did it was smooth sailing. She made 4 cups with 4 TBLS. it didn’t take long for it to brew all we had was Maxwell House original since mostly all we had was just had K-cups. The Coffee was hot, strong and Good and I actually drank all four cups over about an hr and my last cup was still hot and didn’t taste burnt. We have also grown to like Hamilton Beach my other half has an indoor grill that is from this brand and she loves it it was especially nice during the Hot summer and this is why we got this particular Percolator. The only thing I wish this had was a window so you knew how much coffee was left. If you like strong hot coffee and want to save money a Percolator is a good investment especially in these trying times.

   I have nothing but praise for this 12-cup stainless steel coffee percolator, and neither does my reviewing associate: “This coffee electric perk is outstanding! shiny n new with ready light when brewed. The handle and knob on top of cover is very comfortable. The coffee ground canister has exact measuring cup so you can brew exactly the right measurement of cups. Shape n style is very presentable. For many years, I used a similar [4-cup] name brand but believe I like this coffee pot more! I feel confident, It’s well balanced to stand alone, a real winner!” Pride of coffee making and modern aesthetic are seen to serendipitously increase with height! It’s a beauty.

   We had a very old electric percolator like this where the contacts corroded and plug burned up. It worked faithfully almost every single day for years. But, as electronics and heat goes, it eventually crapped out. We went to the big coffee machine that starts with a K that is all the rage these days. It’s alright, I hated it at first compared to the percolator, but got used to it. But, we went ahead and got this percolator, almost exactly the same thing as what we had before, and I’m glad to remember the taste of real coffee. First, if you don’t have an understanding of how this works, I’ll explain, and it’s perfectly logical. In all other coffee machines, the water heats up, and trickles its way through the coffee grounds, then into your pot to drink, whether it be by drip or by pressure. This heats up the water, which goes up to the top, trickles through your coffee grounds, back down into the bottom, and continually cycles itself through up through the grounds repeatedly making a rich coffee. Just like any coffee machine, it might take you a little to experiment if you like cream, how much coffee to put in for strength, etc. But, it is really one of the best, if not the best way to make coffee. When I used to work more out in the field, I would bring a manual stove heated percolator to work. I made coffee for the others, and everyone would ask what kind of coffee it was because it was so good. The real trick was that it wasn’t so much the brand of coffee as it was the percolator. Same thing, only I used a propane camp stove to heat it up, this is electric. Although all my coffee thus far has been smooth with no grounds, I remember at times the older one would sometimes have a few grounds at the bottom of the coffee. At first, we used to use the paper filters to prevent this, it works fine as long as you don’t overfill it, but it was costly and a pain. We reverted back to just putting the coffee in the basket as is. From past experience with this type of coffee, there may be a few grounds here and there, but as a man, you just chew down on them coffee grounds, and it ain’t no big deal. If you’re feeling really weak, you just drink it all up until that last little bit where they may be a few grounds, it’s really not that bad. So, if you want a good cup of coffee in the morning, get yourself a percolator like this. While picky about my coffee I’m not snobby. If you’re snobby you probably want some kind of barista kit. But, sometimes the old fashioned way is a beautiful thing.

   This coffee pot just works, and works great. It brews excellent coffee for us sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Never bitter or diluted. We love it, and it goes with us on vacations, camping or beach houses. Would highly recommend if you need a percolator type coffee pot.

   This coffee pot lasts for about three years and then something fails, usually a thermostat. Which actually is fine with me. I’ve had three of these, and they work like a champ until the last minute. Symptom (for me) was consistently no initial heating but going straight to the “keep warm” cycle. I tried replacing the thermostat once and it was more $$ and effort than it was worth. I’ll buy another one of these when this one fails. Every three years. I work this thing like a beast and that’s fine with me. May sound strange, but I highly recommend. Works for me. Talk to you later, I need another cup.

    How a company can screw up such a simple design is beyond me. The spout used to be low on the pot and have two holes…One low and one high. The new one has a tiny spout at the top and one hole at the very top of the pot. What this means is you have to tip the pot too drastically…so much that the water comes out the cover to get anything out. Its a burn hazard!!! As a result of the new design, 1/4 of the grounds end up in the coffee and do not stay contained to the basket. The percolation has so much turbulence it blows right over the coffee holder. We used it for a month and tried everything. Just ended up trashing it. Pick another brand.

    OK so I can totally taste the effects of plastic in my coffee. I literally hate Mr. coffee because I can taste the remains of plastic from the basket that’s part of that device. I don’t care how good you make this device, Mr. it literally is not good for people who love coffee. So years ago I got really good coffee from truckstop, and I asked how they made the coffee and they advised that they use a percolator not an electric percolator as to what I have, but a percolator, that went on a stove burner naturally years of having these mr coffee units you wanna think based on the advertisement that they’re good, but they’re not, when I went to this unit and made my coffee, it is awesome! Mr. coffee cannot compete with mr percolator get this if you want a good cup of coffee- all metal parts no plastic perfect cuppa coffee every time easy to clean- otherwise you have to use the other thing I bought, which is kind of a filter made out of metal which is good but it’s a pain to make your morning cuppa.

    I am highly disappointed wit this coffeepot. The spout is too high and all coffee grinds come out when pouring. I had to start taking the lid completely off to avoid grinds in every cup of coffee, which of course, defeats a cup of hot coffee because then I have to microwave all coffee after the first cup. I would have returned this immediately but it was a gift, then we went on vacation, and by the time we came home and tried it a few times, our window for return was over. This was a complete waste of money. I have had several other percolators that have never had this issue. I RARELY write a bad review, but this was so bad I needed to.

    Purchased for my mother after she mentioned how good the house smelt after her mother would make perk coffee and how much better it tasted then drip. She is right. Even cheap coffee tastes really good when made in this coffee maker! I purchase more expensive small batch coffee and thought it tasted so good out of my drip coffee maker but used it in this perk coffee maker and it was sooooo DELICIOUS!!!!     See pictures, aluminum flakes in the coffee! I’m usually not super paranoid about aluminum cookware in general, but this is bad. And it wasn’t just a few aluminum flakes, there were hundreds of them in the pot, not kidding. And this was after I scrubbed the thing with hot soapy water and ran a pot of fresh water through a brewing cycle. I then made a pot of coffee and noticed all the little flakes but couldn’t figure out what it was until I zoomed in on them with my jewelers’ loop. Imagine my surprise! To top it off the picture with the paper towel shows how much gray aluminum residue comes off just by wiping the heating element. Maybe this thing will stop spewing out aluminum after a few more runs but I’m not interested in finding out, it’s going back ASAP.

    Product works great until around two years. Then I would start noticing coffee wouldn’t stay hot and sometimes the GFI would trip and a small amount of liquid would be in the plug end. Both died the same way. If your a daily user like me, try to find something more robust. I’m trying a different brand this time
