   This coffee maker really gets the job done. It has a flexible design which makes it easy to shift between using prepared coffee pods or using ground coffee in a filter to make your drinks. There are two unique and interchangeable brew baskets included- both are fully removable for easy cleaning! The one I use the most is the pod basket, a perfect match for Kuerig K-cups. The other basket is equipped with a standard reusable filter for regular coffee grounds. The flexibility is great – we have several local coffee roasters and they don’t make pods – its nice to be able to make single cups with their blends. The unit has a lot of nice details: the buttons to change cup size and brew strength are easy to read and to use. There is a compartment under the cup holder where you can stow a brew basket when it is not in use. When brewing, the baskets are placed in a cone which is also easy to remove and clean – its all very modular and elegant in design. And as for the coffee: every cup is clean and fresh, and having the option of bold or regular brew is a nice touch. The cup sizes are precise oz. measurements making it easy to select the right match for my cups. Overall this is a terrific coffee maker. My only very minor criticism is that it takes a bit longer than other single cup brewers to make a cup – about three minutes total on the bold setting! But the quality of my drinks is superior to previous single cup coffee makers, and as I’ve mentioned, I really love the flexibility of the interchangeable brew baskets, and the ability to easily remove and clean all the pieces, and it takes up only a small spot on my countertop too! Hamilton-Beach has made a great little machine!

   I liked the design of this and thought it was a bonus that it had a water filter in the bottom of the tank. However, the design is such that the water is not forced to flow through the filter, but instead much of the water from the tank can pass through the slots in the filter basket and under the actual filter. I called HB Customer Support and waited for 40 minutes to get an agent. She said that it is supposed to work this way and that the water passing near the filter will have the chlorine taste taken out. I’ve gotta say this would surprise me. But even if that were true, the holder that you snap the basket into is so loose that the filter assembly just floats to the top. The CS person at HB told me that I am not doing it right, I have to turn until it is snug. So I told her no matter how much I turn it, at no position does it hold – she said “I have one in front of me and that is how it works”. I told her mine does not hold, but apparently that did not compute. So I would rate HB’s customer service as poor! Having said all the above, I think I may keep it because with the grounds basket and the bold setting on 8 ounces, it produced a fine cup of coffee. I like the design and the ease of removing all of the components to keep it clean. So I guess I will just go to filling the tank from my filtered fridge water, which I was hoping to avoid.

   You can spend the money on a Keurig but I will take this beast any day. I love the side removable water container it makes it so easy to access in the tight space I keep mine. The choice of 3 cup sizes is nice and convenient for the perfect cup of coffee every time. I have the filters on automatic order which is amazing and so easy. The coffee on the other hand I stopped auto ordering because I shop around for good deals. I have been using this machine for a month or so and haven’t found anything to complain about.

   We’ve had this brewer for a couple of months now and I must say, personally I like this way better than Keurig. I’ve had 2 of their brewers before and both crapped out on me after about 2 years, and I descale them ever month, clean them thoroughly, take good care of them. But the Keurigs kept giving up on me, and for the price you pay for the name I was fed up. So I gave Hamilton Beach a try. I love it. Works perfectly with the k-cups, comes with a basket for loose grounds, is way way easier to clean than the Keurig ever was. The entire needle assembly comes right out, just a quarter turn to the left by hand and it’s out and you can clean it in the sink. Genius! No more using a paper clip and hanging upside down trying to get in that needle to clean it for me. Everything breaks down super easy and cleans with just soap and water. I run a vinegar solution through once a month just to be safe. But it works perfectly, coffee tastes great. Does brew a little bit weak though, but it’s fine I just use their brew bold setting and it tastes fine. Only complaint I have is the water tank is much too small. That’s where Keurig thought things out. 3 14oz cups of coffee and the tank on this thing is dry. I’m constantly refilling it. But because it’s such a small tank it’s easy to refill without too much fuss. I just wish it was a bit larger.

   Do not buy! This melts k-cups and makes all your coffee taste like plastic! Be warned! Also upon looking at other online reviews I’m not alone they just suck that bad, please don’t waste your money like me!

   Spend a little more and get something that actually works. Tried 3 different K-cups, of which each exploded while trying to brew. Hamilton Beach support said they only recommend Great Value or Green Mountain brand cups. Neither of these worked either. Don’t waste your money on this product like I did.

   My Keurig died so in the hunt for a new one I came a crossed this and I’m so glad I did. I used the same coffee and the taste was so much better than with my Keurig. I loved the filter component and the availability to connect it through your phone to brew a cup that will be ready and waiting! Price point is incredible for the features and performance of this machine!

   My filter will not stay in place. It is very slow compared to my Keurig but just found out if I leave it on all the time, it does not have a auto shut off anyway, it is pretty quick. Just read the reviews several people are having the filter problem not sure what to do

    This is a nice simple little coffee maker. I got this because I prefer to use ground coffee rather than pods. It does a great job, and the coffee is delicious. It’s a bit slow, compared to my previous Cuisinart, but it’s worth the little wait for the nice reasonable price.

    I was very excited to get this coffee machine. I have a keurig machine at my house in Michigan, but I’ve currently been staying with family.. And wanted to get a coffee machine for here as well. I thought the price was decent, other ones with 40 or more oz reservoir are more expensive. This had the size i wanted, and 3 different drink sizes. I made a salted caramel coffee, worked great. I made a cappuccino, worked great… Had a second cup of cappuccino, worked great. The forth time, I started the machine, put the k cup in, did the exact same thing as before, went to do something, came back and there was a mess all over the machine and counter! I had noticed the water ran out, so I THOUGHT that was what happened. I cleaned up the mess, and filled it with water. Little later I went to make another cup… And it did the same thing! Mess all over the machine and counter! I made sure it was filled with water, and each time I make sure the lid snaps in place. I have no idea what is causing it to suddenly make a mess!!!! It worked great for the first 3 times. I love the look of it, I love it having a 40 oz reservoir, I love the 3 size settings. It gives the option to use k cups or brewing coffee grounds – I do the k cups. But i am incredibly upset and confused that it is suddenly doing this!!! I WOULD give this machine 4 or 5 stars, I am giving it 2 stars because when it WORKS, its great. But its NOT great when its making messes!! I have been wanting to make another cup but I am scared of it doing it again! **Edit** took another star away because now it is leaking.

    I really did not need the WIFI, but this model was actually a lot cheaper than the non-WiFi model! This does brew a pretty good cup of coffee, but seen some complain that is does not brew at fast as a keurig, which true, because the keurig stays on for up to 2 hours after you brew, but that is going to cost more in electrical to run. This one shuts off immediately, so a energy saver for taking longer to brew is fine with me! I hooked up the WiFi, and it activated on coffeemakers.us.com for automatic ordering. Just wanted to see how it worked, than I disabled the feature, because pods are very expensive, compared to ground coffee, so I only use this machine for that. If you don’t mind paying for the pods, the automatic ordering feature is a cool feature, because the coffee maker keeps track of how many cups you brewed in the app, which is useful if you like to track statistics. Also like other reviewer said, it is louder than my other brand, but I don’t care. Kinda more sounds like a coffee percolator.

    This is why I don’t write reviews after owning an item for a short period of time. I’ve had this Hamilton Beach FlexBrew coffee maker since 2019…and it’s now 2021, so 2 years. This has happened occasionally over the years, where the coffee pod explodes, leaving a huge mess to clean up, but it would sometimes go months without that happening at all. Over the past few days, it’s happened 3 times in a row, with different pod brands, so it’s not the coffee pods; it’s the machine, and it seems that we may be looking for something new. We have cleaned it regularly, and it’s been a good machine other than the pod explosions, which are enough to drive one crazy with the cleanup involved, especially when it happens twice in one morning. The flavor of the coffee is good. We like the choice of cup sizes and the bold/regular brew choices. The reservoir is easy to fill. The machine itself does not have a large footprint so it doesn’t need much counter space. But beware of coffee pod explosions that can happen without warning and ruin your morning.
