   The “pause and serve” feature does not work. I had this same coffee pot prior to buying this one, only it was branded as a Melitta, which is a brand Hamilton Beach bought. That coffee pot worked flawlessly for years and I loved it. When I had the problem with the new coffee pot, I contacted customer service about the pause and serve feature not working, and was told that the problem was with the basket. Under their warranty terms, the customer has to pay for shipment for the replacement. I paid $5.99 and still had the exact same problem. Customer service told me that dripping is “not uncommon”, and partly depended on how you remove the pot – ??!!. They refused to refund the $5.99. After looking at other recent negative reviews, I can only surmise that the quality of this coffee pot has diminished dramatically. Too bad, it used to be excellent. -I’m off to find a good coffee pot and will not buy Hamilton Beach products in the future.

   This coffeemaker was bought to replace a Melitta branded unit and is virtually the same product. The old Melitta finally quit after six years of quality service. I have had no issues with the temperature of the brew or the clock not keeping proper time. It does have a pause feature but will drip a bit-others do it better. The cone filter system makes a rich and delicious cup of coffee when used with the dark roasts we favor. Overall, this is an excellent coffeemaker for the price.

   Owned and use three times a day for last three weeks – no problems thus far. Likes – Cone filter. Three adjustable temperatures and three brew strengths. Decent price. Easy to clean. Easy to set the clock and auto brew start. Pot pours nicely (no spills). Easy to add water to the tank. Dislikes – Bit slow brewing, but not overly slow. Window that shows water level starts at 6 cups. Strong blue light for the clock/timer – I no longer need to turn on the lights in my kitchen at 2 am to skulk around. I would buy again.

   This coffeemaker made good coffee for about a year. We used it daily. At about a year it began not brewing fully, and it steamed and sputtered quite a bit. It started taking 20 minutes to brew and the coffee was bad. We cleaned it with vinegar and it worked better for about 2 months and then the problem returned. We tried the vinegar again with no luck. We have a water softner but maybe using filtered water would have prolonged its life.

   I owned the bottom-of-the-line Hamilton Beach coffee maker for years. I was quite happy with it. It was simple, made good coffee, and was easy to use. When it finally reached end-of-life, I looked for it’s current equivalent, only to discover that it had been discontinued. Almost anything I was seeing was more than double the price, which didn’t excite me. But because of my experience with Hamilton Beach, I sprang for this one. I don’t think I could have done any better. This coffee maker’s improved design solves every minor complaint I had with my old cheap one. It makes very good coffee reliably, is easy to use, has a nice keep warm feature for when our coffee drinking drags on into the morning, and it looks stellar in my kitchen, matched with my other stainless steel appliances. I couldn’t be happier. It’s worth every one of the extra dollars above the old cheap one. I absolutely recommend it!

   I am always sceptical about cooking with plastic. Granted, I ran vinegar and water through 5 or 6 cycles and the plastic smell is gone. Coffee tastes great. I like the settings for heat after the coffee is made. I hate over-heated coffee as it tastes burnt. This machine doesn’t overheat the coffee. I set it on low or medium.
   The only glitch is filling the tank. Pouring water from the carafe is clumsy, however, a person can use something else to do the filling. No big deal.

    Good coffeemaker. However the clock was running faster about 30mins daily, which caused problem of programming coffee making time. Returned the first and bought the second same coffeemaker, and hoped the problem would be gone. Unfortunately the second one has the same proble- its built-in digital clock is running faster from 30min to 1 hour. Now I am giving up to return it, and will keep it and use it. It is not a big deal to me that the clock is not accurate, but I wonder it is that normal to all this make and model. It should not be a rocket science to have a accurate digital clock in any of devices nowadays. Giving a 4 star since other functions are good.
