   I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now, and it works great. I was looking for a coffee machine to use when I have guests, so that I could make a larger pot. I currently have a Keurig that only makes 1 cup at a time. This Hamilton Beach coffee maker is exactly what I was needing. It has a digital clock and you can connect it to Alexa, which was a quick setup. I’m very very happy with this!

   To begin, it’s a coffee maker. As with most, the quality of the coffee is based on the brew as much if not more than the maker. So from that point it’s great! Build quality is exactly what I’d expect from the brand. As a coffee maker it’s easy to use add water, filter, grounds and make sure the green light is on. You’re ready to go! (5Stars) It’s the addition of Alexa is where things turn (2Stars). First, the directions make it seem much more simple to activate than it really is. If you already have the app and are into the Alexa ecosystem it’ll be straight forward but if not, get ready to be surprised at set up. The upfront mention that Google is all about protecting your privacy was the first “wha?” moment. Then came the questions. It soon began to seem like a lot of questions for coffee. Definitely more than the 4 easy steps in the directions. After you set up Alexa you need to remember that for this to work it requires setup/prep before bedtime. Which is not saving you time as much as it’s just readjusting the same time. Yes, the convenience of telling Alexa to start the coffee is cool but… wouldn’t a timer do the same? Couldn’t I just get up and start the coffee? How much time does this truly save? How smart is too smart?

   I’ve tried everything and this will not show up in Alexa on my iPhone. So, because of that, it’s just a regular coffee pot, and not a Smart coffee pot, for me. I’m sure it’s user error and I’m going to keep trying, but it’s very frustrating. I will update my review if I can ever get it to work.

   I’ve only had it a few days, but so far so good. It makes a decent cup of coffee pretty quickly. The voice command options through Alexa feel a little gimmicky because you have to set everything up on the maker, so it feels a little weird to do that and not just press the “On” button to start it. I guess if you were throwing a party or something, and you wanted to set up the pot but brew later, the voice command would come in handy. However, having the Alexa integration allows you to set up routines so you’re coffee starts in the morning without you having to do anything (you just have to set up the pot the night before), which I have really liked. I do wish there were more specific options available such as temperature and keep warm settings like on the smart kettles. It’s basically on or off. Technically, it will keep the pot warm while the maker is on, but it won’t shut off after a specific time. I haven’t run into any issues with getting the pot out or leaks in the carafe that others have mentioned. Overall, I really like it, and it does what I need it to do.

    Good capacity, easy to fill and use. Brews a good cup of coffee, even great in my opinion if you use a reusable mesh filter rather than paper filters. Good feature set with adjustable brew strength, timed brewing, programmable schedule and voice activation via the Alexa app or devices. The ONLY issue I had with mine is that if I connect it to my network, instead of showing CST, it’s one hour off as it’s showing CDT. I can manually adjust it, but it keeps “fixing” itself by applying the one hour off time in short order as long as it’s connected to our network. Doesn’t make it unusable. Until I figure out how to get the correct time to display, I just have to take the time difference into the equation when programming a brew time. Annoying, but haven’t found another solution yet. No idea if this has happened to others or if it’ll happen to you, but at least if you read this you’ll be aware of the potential for it to happen. That said, it’s better than our old coffee maker and we’ll continue to use it as it does brew a good cup.

    I love everything about this coffee maker with two minor exceptions. One, its connection to my network is sometimes tenuous. Once the connection is lost, I have to manually reset it. Not fatal, but annoying. My second complaint, and the main reason for deducting one star, is that the labeling on the control buttons seems to be wearing off in spots. (See pic, attached.)

    Love it! Before we’re out of bed the coffee maker is doing it’s thing. We have no set schedule so setting a coffee pot timer doesn’t work for us. This is a perfect solution. Before we get up, “Alexa, turn on my coffee maker”. By the time we get to the kitchen the hot coffee is ready to pour in the mugs and start our day. (We haven’t yet figured out how to have Alexa pour the coffee and do the dishes!) We had purchased another brand with a leaky, steel insulated carafe but after two of those we went with this brand. We really like the convenience, quality and style. Perfect for our lifestyle. Good coffee and convenient.

    I bought this coffee maker because I wanted to be able to turn it on from anywhere at any time. It turns out, you can only voice control it if you press a physical button on the machine. If you have to be physically present to push a physical button, then you’ve defeated the purpose of Alexa voice controls. This makes it just a regular programmable coffee maker but at 4 times the price. It really annoys me that these coffee makers turn off after 2 hours but I thought that could be solved by the voice commands. But if I have to come back every 2 hours to push the “ready” button to make it ready for the voice command then it serves no purpose. I could just push the power button while I’m there.

    We had been eyeing this machine for a while now. We’ve been growing out Smart Home collection, selectively, for a few years. We have an Atomi Smart coffee maker with a burr grinder, but the grinder crapped out on us and the added warranty I got in that was not honored by coffeemakers.us.com. That gripe is neither here nor there, as we decided to downsize from the grinder to a traditional drip machine to limit complications. With that in mind we were thrilled to see that there was a Smart Coffee Maker from a *reputable* big name company, Hamilton Beach, a brand that I grew up with in my parents home. They had the same appliances from HB for literally a decade or more and those were only replaced when they needed something larger or something else. So it arrived last Saturday and we read the instructions and got it set up on a perfectly level glass surface (in the exact same location as the Atomi sat for its entire time with us). Got it connected to Alexa and set the timer. Before we went to bed, I added the coffee, filled it up with water and was off to bed. 5:30 AM arrived and I was PUMPED to drink my coffee. I stepped in to the dark kitchen, grabbed my cup, added the cream and then stepped towards the machine… into a puddle of water. It leaked, all 12 cups, three feet across the floor. I chalked it up to not being level. My bad, I thought, it’s brand new. Growing pains. I moved it to our kitchen table (large flat and level surface) filled it with water again and hit start. Coffee was great! No leaking. We left it on the table because it worked Sunday morning after the first nights hiccup. That evening, we got it set up again, set a timer on my phone for 20 minutes and checked to make sure it wasn’t leaking – all was good. Went to bed. Next morning arrived and wouldn’t you know it, my kitchen was once again flooded. But the damage, the literal damage, was far worse. This time the water pooled under the machine and warped the tip of the table beyond repair (see the bright line warping on the near side in the photo), leaked down on/in our cats cardboard hut (also bought on coffeemakers.us.com) and destroyed that too. All I wanted was coffee. I am enraged. It is one thing for a product to not work. It’s another entirely when that product renders other items in its vicinity inoperable too. Do not buy this product. I warn you, do not.

    The coffee maker is nice and works but there is a big problem with this ready to brew control. I get it, it’s supposed to prevent you from accidentally brewing the coffee by accident but My wife likes to brew her coffee and turn it off before she gets up. She also wants to be able to turn it on to warm it up before she gets some of it. You have to physically go to the kitchen to press a ready button to be able to turn it on. Why is there not an option to set ready to brew from the App? I should have just bought a smart plug and regular coffee maker and saved about $30.00

    This is my second purchase, and like the first one the heating plate rust very quickly. I have only had it for 5 months and it started rusting a month ago and because I had prior knowledge to this problem I was very diligent not to let the pot drip on it or keep it wet for any period of time and it still is rusting!! So between the dripping and then making rust that’s a problem. I will probably go with a different brand next time.

    How do I explain that this is no better than my regular coffee maker? I really wanted something that I could tell Alexa to turn on to reheat my coffee. The problem is, you have to manually reset the coffee maker every time before you can issue an Alexa command. Therefore, if you have coffee in it and just need to reheat it, you still have to go to the coffee pot and reset it. Further use shows that inserting the pot can sometimes disloge the coffee grounds chamber spilling your coffee all over the place. It looks like multiple other people have the same issue with this coffee maker. Gonna have to reduce this to 1 star.

    Purchased this to see auto brew for the morning, The clock displays the incorrect time even when set to the correct time zone and city. I reset it and it still does the same thing. I set the clock manually and it will just override that to after a few hours. My intent was to use routines at specific times, but this way I’d have to press the button on my app each morning instead of it just doing it all automatically. I purchased mine as Used but it was BRAND NEW every sticker on etc.

    I have had this coffee maker for a little over a year now. I love that I can start it up using the Alexa app. Recently, it started leaking water from the bottom. I hope it’s a simple fix and I don’t have to toss it. Besides the recent issue, I’d recommend this product for the ease of use and cost.

    Update 11/18/23. I upgraded my internet connection to a 5 ghz connection and the coffee pot no longer works. Reading the instructions again, I see where it only works on a 2.4 ghz band. I’m not sure what all of that means, but now I have to turn it on manually.

    I really wanted to love this. It arrived damaged, a piece of the hinge on the top lid was broken. However, that wasn’t a total big issue so I said I’d test it to see how it works. Seamlessly connected to the Wi-Fi and Alexa. Test brew was a success and so was the one the morning after. Loved that I could start it from the bed and not worry about a timer. The next time I used it tho was a disaster. Again, started it with Alexa but when I came downstairs the coffee maker had leaked water from some unknown spot on the bottom. Water was all over the counter and the machine cut itself off so I believe it short circuited. Super dangerous and I’m livid. I didn’t do anything different from the first couple of times I used it so I don’t know what happened. Not recommending this product
