Cuisinart DCC2205FR Coffee on Demand 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker – Refurbished (Renewed)

We’ve been using this coffee maker a little over a week now and are pretty much satisfied with it. On the 3rd day a small peice of plastic chipped off of the part that stops the flow of coffee so that you can pour yourself a cup while it’s still brewing. Though disappointed that it was this “fragile”, this has not affected the performance of the unit. I tested the temperature of the freshly brewed coffee and found it to be HOT – 170 degrees! The carafe does a great job of keeping the coffee hot for at least 4 hours (the longest it’s gone before being consumed)Preheating the carafe with hot tap water helps keep it hot for the greatest length of time.
I love the portability of the carafe while still keeping my coffee hot – no more being tied to the hot plate- and no more breaking the flimsy glass carafes!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the plastic chipped so quickly and because it doesn’t have any type of spout to make it easier for pouring. Overall, I am very satisfied. I hope it lasts longer than my last 2 coffee pots (a 4 month oldDeLonghi and it’s warrantied replacement that died 15 months later). My first Krups lasted 5 yrs – hope this one will too.

I agree with some of the other reviews in regard to the negatives about this coffeemaker — lack of spout means you have to be a bit careful when pouring, the coffee doesn’t stay hot as long as thermos-type carafe coffemakers I’ve used and after about 6 mos. of use the handle on mine seems to be somewhat loose. Also, the brewing doesn’t stop immediately if I try to pour a cup of coffee mid-brew, but that doesn’t matter to me since I don’t do that normally but was just testing that function. On the plus side, mine does make really good coffee; all the grounds are completely saturated after brewing;and I don’t need to add more coffee than usual, as some people have found. In addition, I like the programmable function and the overall design. All things considered, I probably will look for a less expensive coffeemaker next time around since I don’t think this product is worth the high cost.

It doesn’t make hot enough coffee. While it’s a good temperature for drinking quickly, it gets cold too fast. You could probably remedy that by pre-warming the carafe, but that would negate using the timer, and, after it’s warmed, you’d have to use a different container for filling your coffee maker or you’d cool the carafe down all over again.
Worse, the carafe doesn’t pour well. When you get to the last two or three cups, you have to be careful or coffee goes all over your counter top. The way it’s designed, you can’t even see the coffee pouring all over your counter top until it’s too late. At 6:00 in the morning, sleepy and desperate to wake up and get ready for work, you don’t want to think about how to hold the carafe “just right.”
What were they thinking? At such a HIGH price, I expect quality in the details. The Krups Aroma Control (at least with the steel thermal carafe) doesn’t meet that standard.

This is a gorgeous-looking but ultimately expensive piece of crap. Unfortunately, I threw the box and packing materials out too soon and I’m out $120+. The hype about the aroma control is just that — hype. It starts brewing immediately and when it does, the water starts dripping out of the bottom onto your kitchen counter as well as into the carafe. If you use the automatic timer, you will discover that half the water has leaked out of the machine before the timer kicks in to brew the coffee. The whole mechanism is made from extremely cheap plastic parts. I don’t know how they have the nerve to charge this much for such a worthless item.
