   I’m not blown away, but this is a nifty device to take to picnics or other outdoor activities like camping. Both the Nespresso cup dispenser and coffee ground dispenser work fine without leaving any grounds in my cup, but I do prefer using the Nespresso cups ONLY because whenever I’ve taken this out with me, which was mainly camping, I really didn’t feel like bringing a jar of coffee grounds because I wanted to keep my gear load light. But, when I use this at home, I like using the coffee grounds dispenser. Heating: This starts brewing after 4-5 minutes for me. I’ve never had it reach the 195 (or is it 198 degree F) temperature that triggers the brewing process at the 2-3 minute marks. And the water I would add is room temperature, not from the fridge. Not a fast brew, but I don’t really mind it that much, because the times I use it, I’m relaxing and not in a rush to make a cup of coffee. Overall, it’s a cool gadget to have that is a conversation starter whenever I pull it out from my pack. I do wish that the instruction manual was more descriptive as far as cleaning instructions went. I was looking through the small manual to see how to clean the device, only to find a small blurb about it (sort of) under the Precautions section. It says to not submerge the device in water, or something like that. What I’ve found on my own with just common sense, I guess, it you can clean everything but the main device that gets plugged in. I make sure that all the pieces are bone dry before putting it together and using. I wiped the water resovior portion at the top with a damp cloth with a 50/50 spray of vinegar and water just to disinfect. But that’s it. Do I recommend it? If you like espresso and gadgets, sure.

   This is an AMAZING portable espresso maker. Very well built and very sturdy. Upon opening the package you realize this is not a cheaply made item. Quite the opposite – its actually very heavy and well made. Takes grounds or Nespresso pods and makes perfect espresso in minutes with relative ease! USB charge works excellent and the unit has a digital display showing the temperature of the brew as well as the status of the espresso shot you’re about to enjoy. This is 💯 amazing!!!    It took a few tries for me to get this just right, but this espresso maker is pretty darn cool. You can use it with grounds or a pod – they give you two connectors to the machine. Basically it heats up water and provides the pressure to get the water through the grounds, so it’s not going to be that much different than a countertop machine, other than they’ve created a fairly thoughtful way to take the machine on the road. I’ve tried both methods of warming the coffee, and I’ve landed on a preference of putting fairly hot water in to the reservoir and letting the machine heat it up the rest of the way to 198 degrees (that’s 92c for our friends who use other units) and the provided cup does indeed take the heat. Each cup takes a couple of minutes, so it’s probably best if you don’t have several people waiting on their morning cappuccino from this machine, but for one person it’s awesome. In my photos, I had just made a cup of espresso so the grounds are still in the container – I washed it out & took another picture so you can see the metal basin. One aspect I like is you can put the grounds in the night before, then in the morning it’s ready to receive hot water. If you are the lone espresso fanatic who doesn’t want to spend hundreds or more on a countertop machine, or if you like your espresso on the road and you’re too far away from a barista, this is definitely the item for you!

   The Maestri House espresso machine is a great small appliance for coffee on the go. Ideal cases for this would be coffee in the office or maybe camping for a few days. The espresso machine can brew either pre ground coffee or Nespresso Classic pods. At home I use other high end coffee grinders and espresso machines, but for portability, I chose to use the Nespresso pods. The machine takes about 3-4 hours to charge completely. There are two methods of brewing, either with using pre heated water or letting the machine heat the water for you. Depending on the option you choose, this will impact the brew time as well as the overall battery. The instructions say that letting the machine heat up your coffee will give you about 2-3 brews before needing to charge. You get a few more if you use hot water. This is a nice option because if you are camping with a fire or in a place with easy access to hot water, you can use this machine several times. I personally wanted to see what it would be like from cold. The bottom of the machine is where you change the pod or ground coffee compartments. There is also a cup that is included that slides no the bottom. This cup is not only for drinking, but also necessary for brewing. Once the cartridge is changed to either pod or ground coffee, you actually stand the whole thing on the cup. There are grooves that alternate short and long and you use the short ones to actually prop up the machine onto the cup to allow space for brewing. You add water in the top, either cold or hot and you push one of the two buttons on the front. The top button will heat the water and the bottom will just brew the current water. When I used the heat setting, it took 5 minutes to heat up. There is a digital screen that shows you the heat progress and once it hit 198 degrees Fahrenheit, it started brewing. The brew process only took about a minute. Overall this is a great option for portable coffee. The one thing it is missing is some kind milk frother because let’s face it, in America, very few people actually drink just espresso coffee without any of the milk or sweeteners. That said, the machine works very well. Aside from its long charging times and limited use on charge, it still give you the ability to brew really nice coffee on the go.

   This is a really neat little espresso machine by Maestri House and it works like a charm. You can take it on the go with you for espresso anywhere, but I have just been using it at home because I love that I can keep it in a kitchen cabinet or drawer instead of having yet another appliance cluttering and gobbling up the limited space on my kitchen counter. It works great to make one cup of espresso at a time. You can use either classic/original Nespresso-type pods or you can use your own ground coffee. I love that versatility. I also love that it is battery powered because I have a similar espresso maker that is manual (I have to pump it by hand) and this battery-powered one is just so easy and convenient. With my manual travel espresso maker, you have to have hot water to put into the machine, but this one will even heat the water for you, if needed, provided it has enough battery power left. Heating the water eats up a lot of battery power; you can make about three cups this way with one full charge, but if you start out with hot water, you can make many, many cups of espresso. The manufacturer’s packaging says 100 cups but I haven’t yet made that many to find out. It’s great that many cars and trucks these days have built-in USB ports so you can charge the battery on the go, as well as make espresso on the go. This neat little gadget has quite a few pieces that might seem a little overwhelming at first, but once you’ve played around with it and made a couple of cups of espresso, it all makes sense and works quickly and easily. It has a digital readout that shows the battery level, the water temperature and lets you know when brewing is complete. It comes with two different attachments to use based on whether you brew Nespresso cups or ground coffee; thankfully they are labeled “G” for ground and “N” for Nespresso so you don’t get them mixed up, because they look very similar. The espresso brews straight into a little plastic espresso cup (included) that fits nicely in place. The pieces fit/snap together into one slim unit that is very portable, although there are extra parts that might get lost or separated, so I have been storing mine all together in a gallon ziplock bag. Overall, this is such a well-thought-out little machine and I am very pleased with how easy it is to operate and the delicious espresso it makes! Just look at the crema on top!

    My husband and I love coffee, and we drink it regularly. We have different tools at home to make coffee using various methods, and we always look for new and compact tools to test. This espresso machine was a pleasant surprise since it makes a pretty decent cup of espresso. We tested it using a few different finely ground espresso beans, and it always came out with a dense crema and rich taste. The Nespresso pod adapter works well enough, but it’s not as good as putting it in a Nespresso machine, probably because of the pressure. The battery can make 2-3 cups of double-sized espresso with room-temperature water. Its use as a purely portable device is somewhat limited since heating the water consumes a lot of energy from the machine. However, preheating the water in a kettle can make 6+ cups on a single charge, and that is also nice to know. This product is easy to use and clean. It is also compact and comes with a bag for storage. The product includes three adhesive silicone covers for the charging port, which is a nice touch. Overall, this is a decent machine that’s great for anyone with limited space or who wants a good cup of espresso on the go.     I got this Maestri House portable espresso machine for traveling and it’s fantastic! It comes with 2 baskets, one with a standard portafilter for loose coffee grounds and another for Nespresso capsules if that’s what you use – I’m exclusively a loose coffee grounds person. Assembly is a cinch – unscrew the basket housing to add the coffee grounds/capsule and then attach it to the main unit, it clicks into place; remove the top lid to add room temperature water to the max fill line; long press the desired brew method, hot brew or cold brew (their respective buttons are on the front of the main unit, hot brew button on top, cold brew button underneath it). Cold brew is obviously immediate, while hot brew takes several minutes to heat to the necessary 196+ degree temperature before brewing begins (see video). The manufacturer claims heating occurs within 2-3 minutes, but my experience was closer to 5 minutes (which is fine, just noting the time difference encountered). The unit comes with a plastic cup that can be used to collect the coffee, however not being a plastic cup fan, I use a 12 oz frothing pitcher which has the perfect circumference and height to sit the unit on and as a small pitcher it’s not cumbersome for me to pack when traveling as an extra accessory for this espresso device. The unit produced *exactly* 2 oz of espresso with a small amount of crema (see pic; I was surprised it produced any crema at all to be honest). The flavor was excellent and strong enough for me to make a quasi-café americano. Cleanup is also simple and easy; the unit has a cleaning cycle that’s important to use to ensure the entire channel that coffee is flowing through gets rinsed/cleaned properly. I do wish it came with a storage bag, that would have been a great extra, but in its absence I just use a toiletry bag and that works well to keep everything together – though there aren’t many ‘pieces’ to keep track of thankfully. Overall, I’m really enjoying this device and think it’s quality made (sans the plastic parts, I’m able to look past it given that I’m only using this on my travels and not everyday for the thought of my brew coming in contact with plastic parts to not be quite so bothersome). I believe it’s worth the price and recommend it!

    This is a great portable espresso maker that is capable of small brews under 6oz. The whole selling point is the portability and it delivers there. The device is extremely lightweight, not heavier than a water bottle. It is able to heat and brew coffee or espresso within 3 minutes. It is also capable of cold brewing, which was very mild in flavor. We used it mostly with ground coffee and a hot brew was decent in flavor. Battery life was good and it lasted the 2 days we were outside with limited brewing (about 8 cups). It is intuitive to use and operate. After our outdoor trip, we found ourselves rarely using it again. It’s not exactly something we need to bring to an office or while traveling around Europe. The device costs about the same as a full-size espresso machine, so the portability has to be worth it, despite the more limited functionality and types of coffee that can be crafted. The question is: how important is brewing coffee on-the-go to you?

    I was very curious to test out this portable electric espresso machine because it brews espresso on the go, and the brand is familiar to me as I acquired an electric milk frother last year that worked so well, I bought one for my sister. This portable espresso machine is a good size and weight to fit into ones backpack. The cup size isn’t very large so it’s basically like drinking a two shots of coffee, but there are two capsules from which to choose for either coffee grounds or Nespresso pods. I chose to test it out with grounds. The water goes into the top portion and the capsule is screwed into the bottom. There are brewing options for both hot and cold water. I chose the later. After a few minutes and once the cold water is heated up to 198° F, the automatic brewing process begins. It is so imperative that one pays attention to when the espresso machine reaches the ideal temperature because if not, one will have a mess to clean up afterwards. See video. It took me several attempts to finally figure out how to use this machine properly as well as learn to stay put whilst the water is heating. Luckily, the machine is easy to clean also. The battery life is pretty decent but it will reduce significantly after several consecutive brews especially when using cold water. While it doesn’t brew a lot of coffee at once, I think that it’s still a good choice for a takealong espresso machine for on the road or for when one is somewhere without a convenience store in sight.

    I’ve had two of these machines. The first one’s outer shell covered the charging port. Problem! coffeemakers.us.com sent me another one. This one worked great at first. I loved it so much, very easy to use and made a great cup of Nespresso.

    Unfortunately, it just died while making what would have been a great espresso and wouldn’t come back on. The battery was fully charged, it just… died.
    Tried plugging it in again, did everything I possibly could to bring it back to life. No go.
    Lucky for me, it was within the 30 day return so I got my money back.

    If this machine worked consistently, it would have been a great purchase. I want another one, but it seems a bit silly to take another chance.

    This is a great machine for traveling. Let me start by saying that I own a high quality espresso machine for my home coffee so my bar was set pretty high for this one. There are 2 options for pulling your espresso shot. You can either do it the traditional way with your own beans/ground coffee or if you like the Nespresso pods you can also use those. I use my own beans that I grind so my review is just for that option. I used the max amount of water that you could use and I used the self-heating function rather than putting in already hot water. It yielded almost 2 oz of coffee. I like that you can use already heated up water, which is a great function when you’re making mulitple cups of espresso. The rechargeable feature is great, making this little machine that much more portable. It holds a charge for a long time too. It did take a while for it to fully charge but not a big deal since you can just charge when not in use. It came with a nice carrying bag as well and a little measuring cup. Overall, a great machine for on the go. A bit on the pricey side but for me it was worth it.

    This is the solution I was looking for after getting tired of the insipid coffee at the hotels where good espresso is non existent. Maestri House largely fulfills the promise. Setting it and charging it was quick. Got fresh espresso ground in the coffee filter and pulled multiple shots some directly in the container provided and some into my cups. Even with the water between the min and max levels I had coffee spill out from the container provided every time so stopped using that and switched to having the espresso into the cup for drinking directly. The espresso pulled was surprisingly very good with some crema at the top. It was difficult to distinguish it from the pulls from my far more expensive espresso machine except for the amount of crema. The heating function of the Maestri espresso machine is very good as well and did heat up quickly, but I’ll use the microwave to get it up close to the temp required and then use the heated extraction button on the machine to pull the shots – could easily pull three or four shots that were very consistent in flavor and taste that way with plenty of charge left. The only cumbersome feature that could use improvement is the tamping. The plastic spoon provided does not do the job though the manual says that’s the tool, primarily because the diameter of the spoon is a lot less than the filter basket so tamping and any form of leveling simultaneously is impossible. Other than that, this is an excellent product from Maestri House and certainly earned its place in my luggage for my vacations and business trips. Highly recommend.
