   Love the design and it has just the features we wanted. Only issue (which others have mentioned) is when you lift the filter flip top after brewing, water runs down the lid and in between the pot and water tank. Not a big deal, just an inconvenience. Brews the best coffee we have had in a really long time. I do worry about the carafe being all glass. Great for cleanup, but care must be taken while cleaning because, well, it’s glass. Overall, best coffee maker we have owned. Would have been 5 stars if it didn’t have the water drips.

   I got this unit to review, but it was just in time, as my beloved Bonavita coffee maker finally died… well, it developed a leak. Anyway… let’s get to the review:

   First of all, this coffee maker looks great! It is bigger than my Bonavita, but it also brews more coffee, so that’s understandable. The carafe is all glass… even the handle. I am a little nervous about breaking it when washing up, but so far so good… and replacements are available if worse comes to worse.

   There are two glass covers — one for the water reservoir and one for the filter housing. The one on the water reservoir is a lid that comes off, and the one on the filter reservoir is hinged. I kind of wish they were both hinged to minimize the chance of dropping and breaking it.

   The filter basket is removable and easily cleaned. It has the “sneak a cup” button on the bottom so that you can pull the carafe out and get a glass before brewing is complete and not make a mess.

   Thecarafe sits on a hot plate. The hot plate and the brewing heater are two separate units in this coffee maker, which is not usually the case. This allows the brewing heater to turn off after brewing is complete, and I would guess it gives better control over the temperature of the carafe… but that’s just a guess. You can set the hot plate timer for as little as 30 minutes or as long as 2 hours. If you need to extend that time, just press the brew button again. I need to do this sometimes, as my wife gets up for work before me.

   The “dashboard” (where the clock display and all the buttons are) is a separate piece that can rotate around the carafe. This means whether you place it with the left side out, right side out, or with the carafe side facing out, you can always have the display and controls facing you. That’s a really nice touch. The controls are pretty straight forward. There are buttons to set the clock and auto program timer. The display lets you know at a glance if you have set the auto timer.

   When brewing, the clear pipe that the hot water percolates up through glows red! It’s actually a pretty neat little touch. It lets you know when brewing is happening, and just adds a bit of flair to the process.

   The coffee tastes great. As with any coffee that sits on a hot plate for a while, you can start to taste a bit of a burnt characteristic, but I would say that it is less pronounced than many cheaper coffee makers I have used. I have gotten accustomed to the very high quality coffee that my Bonavita produced, and this unit does not disappoint. My previous coffee maker brewed into an insulated carafe, and I do miss that. If they had offered this Melitta unit with an insulated pot instead of a hot plate, I would have gone that route. However, this one is working out pretty well for us. I would recommend it.

   Let’s face it. I bought this for fun and it didn’t disappoint. That little “campfire” heating the water (a led light) is genius and looks spectacular in a dimly lit room first thing in the morning. It looks great on a countertop. Setting the time and setting the machine up for morning coffee is the easiest I’ve ever done. Normally, I’m the person with wonky time on the machine because I can’t be bothered getting the manual out. Now to hope that the machine lasts a long time.

   After being a Cuisinart loyalist but having to replace their coffee makers about every year, I decided it was time to move on and try something different. What I love about this coffee maker is that it makes a great cup of coffee at the perfect temperature, it brews it fast, was well priced and cleans very easily. What I don’t love about it is that the heating plate has a 2 hour max and no sound indicator that it has shut off so you could at least turn it back on. ( you get busy because life happens) By the time I realize the pot has shut off the coffee has already begun to cool. I had to purchase an insulated carafe to pour the coffee into after brewing, so problem solved there. Otherwise, I am very happy with this coffee maker and would buy it again.

   Enjoying this coffeemaker! The coffee seems to have a higher quality/less bitter. It brews quickly. Very functional, it is fairly large item just to be aware that it is a larger size than other coffeemakers. The design is very pretty!

   Was hoping it would be great but it was a disappointment. It does make a pretty good cup of coffee but there are some issues to make it a great coffee maker. The most annoying part it that you pull out the carafe coffee always spills onto the warmer, super annoying since you have to wipe up the spilt coffee or put a napkin down to catch it. The fancy display to much for what is suppose to be a simple coffee maker. Wish I gave up on hoping to love it before my rerun window passed by.

   The machine made very good coffee but the warming tray did not work. The indicator light said the warmer was working, but it didn’t. I called Melitta’s service desk and left a message two days ago but did not get a return call.

    This is a great coffee maker. It heats the water really hot ( the key to a great brew) and puts on a show while doing it! The design is modern and sleek, plus the lip on the pot is perfect for pouring with no dribbling. Makes a delicious cup of coffee!
