   Purchased this Mixpresso Pour Over Coffee Maker Set Glass Carafe in November 2022. Since then, the glass chipped on the top of the pot and cracked it. Had to throw it away. Now the filer is tearing on the inside. Very cheaply made. Thought this would last longer than 2 months of use. Not recommend for purchase.

   Very disappointed. I ordered this for my niece and she received it on Friday, 9/6/19 and was so excited to use it. When she opened the box and pull out the carafe… The wooden ring / handle wrap was broken. It came broken!!! We don’t expect products to be broker upon arrival or defective. We saw some reviews back in 2017 about this particular issue but thought that Mixpresso as a company would have used the reviews and feedback from the 2 years ago to better improve their products and put in some quality control. Or so we thought. Well apparently they didn’t bother. Same issue. How irritating that they don’t care. Anyone reading this – think twice before buying. They haven’t done a thing to make it so that it didn’t break so early on… or even in the production process or ask their supplier to improve.

   This is an AWESOME little pour over! Got it in the mail today and I’m already in love with it. A few notes: Keep in mind, this pour over makes three VOLUMETRIC cups… not three coffee cups. It essentially makes one large mug of coffee. Other reviewers claimed the ones they received were plastic. Either they are mistaken or we got different products, which I doubt. The glass feels a little different (and the description does say it is a special kind of glass) but it is DEFINITELY not plastic. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the product and will be recommending it to my customers (I’m a barista) when they inquire about brewing coffee at home. It tastes substantially better than Keurig brewed coffee and doesn’t take much more time to make (especially if you have a Keurig and just run it without a coffee pod in it to quickly make hot water 😉). The best part is the asthetics of this product… it’s something you definitely won’t mind leaving out in plain sight.

   The handle insulation (wood/leather) is really marginal (thin wood). It’s easy to touch the hot glass outside of the wood panels. This would not be that big of an issue but the glass is rather thin therefore with the lack of mass (thickness) the glass gets very hot by the time the coffee has finished filtration (brewing) and with the thin wood panel handle this also will get very hot too exercise caution here. While I’m on the subject of the handle the leather strip that holds the wood handle panels on is of rather poor quality and will easily break when you try to tighten it up. It does a good job of making coffee just not the material quality of other brewers of the same theory. Last be careful of impact which will result in a broken pot also due to the thinness of the glass pot.

   Makes a very fast large mug of coffee. The coffee is excellent.
   I was getting tired of the cost and waste of my pod machine. This is a great, simple and attractive alternative.
   This chemex will also fit in the cup spot of your pod machine and be done in 2 minutes. I use two cycles of the tassimo hot water disk that comes with the machine; the only thing is you need to move the chemex around a bit at first to wet the grinds. For K machines, use the hot water cycle and move around a bit when at first to wet the grinds.

   This is a great product… looks exactly like a miniature version of the Chemex I had in the 70’s! Holds 3 good-sized cups of coffee. You’re pretty much limited to Chemex filters as neither basket filters nor the Melita kind work (water goes through too fast or they fall through). The down side of the Chemex half-moon FP-1 filters (and probably the square ones as well, is that the point goes way down into the beaker, so if you want to make more than a cup, the tip of the filter is in the coffee. I solved it by folding over the tab and then folding the bottom up again before I made the final fold (see picture.) Water takes a little longer to pass through, but you can get a full 3 cups without dunking the filter.

    Use a good quality grinder like the Cuisinart CBM-18 conical burr grinder. With a low RPM and highly adjustable grind setting. It delivers consistent grounds that don’t get overheated during the grind process.. I use the 2 cup setting at #7 grind. With this easy to use carafe and 10 oz hot yet not quite boiling water. (I like coffee on the strong side) In just a few minutes. You’ll be amazed at the flavor you’ll get from freshly ground beans. The insulated sleeve works very well to protect your hand from the heat Very easy to clean. I just tap the stainless steel conical filter upside down lightly on the edge of the kitchen trash can. Then rinse under hot water from the faucet. Rinse out the carafe and your ready to enjoy some of the best coffee you’ve ever had. Providing you start with good quality organic beans.

    I had been using a French press before buying this for my coffee and it is incredible how much more flavor can be had from a Chemex like this. All in all, it works great. The glass is a nice quality. It isn’t stained and I have made coffee in it a couple times everyday now for the week or so that I have had it. I also bumped the rim on a cabinet fairly hard one day and I was expecting catastrophe — to my surprise, this thing is pretty resilient. I was expecting it to be bigger but that is error on my part. It makes two cups perfectly and that’s enough for me so it worked out. Although, the marks on the side that say cups are off from what my cups are by quite a bit. This isn’t really that crucial though, I never refer to those lines. I wouldn’t care less if it didn’t have any lines. Another thing, I use normal coffee filters (like for a dripper) and they gurgle when you pour water over the coffee resulting in some spitting on the counter. I know these are probably not the proper filters but it’s what I have — just something to keep in mind. The wood and leather wrapping works great for keeping the heat off of your hand when you are pouring it. All in all, really glad I bought this. Best coffee I have ever drank has come from this.

    This is a nice little unit. But, the metal filter drains too fast; makes a very weak brew. I need to add a paper filter to get a good tasting cup. EDIT: the filter membrane broke after 4 months and it seems I cannot order a new one. Grounds get inside the membrane and cannot be removed; I cannot use the filter.

    The set works well, holds up the fluid to get good flavor. Two flaws though make me sad as I would love this otherwise. A. The funnel inner wrap is coming apart after only 3 months. Even with gentle handling. B. The little band at the neck of the carafe does not provide enough insulation, so you have to use a dish towel, or tripled paper towels in order to handle it just after making. Note I found that a cork I had on hand fit the carafe perfectly and really helps to keep the coffee hot for quite a while. Looking for a replacement funnel….
