   Bought this because the reviews said it makes great coffee. I make 2 mugs of coffee at breakfast, using 700 mLs of water (about 1/2 carafe), which screws thing up because the coffeemaker is programmed to make only a full carafe. So I get a message to add more water which flashes the entire time. After about 2 minutes a timer start counting down then counting up, have no idea why, but the brewing process stops. At some point the process restarts. My first mug is Luke-warm, the second mug, about 15 minutes later is hot. I’m guessing the carafe warming unit doesn’t turn on right away.

   There is one control, a large knob which does everything. Think of a steering wheel that when tilted left or right activates the turn signals and when tilted up or down turns on the parking lights or headlights. A bit tricky. I called customer service and they told me to make a full pot of coffee.

   This is a really cool coffee maker and don’t want to forget it also makes tea. I’m someone who likes to make a pot of coffee but at times still needs a single serve and this does both really well. I also really like that you don’t need pods, saving the environment 1 cup at a time! The scooper makes it easy to get the coffee right and the timer countdown is a nice touch. Would recommend!

   This is a full drink station in one machine! It is so convenient. You can literally make almost any coffee or tea drink in minutes. And it is so user friendly. The controls are very intuitive. They color coded the tea and coffee inserts, green for tea and orange for coffee. And the machine knows the difference. As soon as you put one in, a light on the front shows up in the same matching color. The instructions are so easy to follow, I had a child make his own iced tea with no help! With this brand, tou know you are getting quality. It is a good sturdy machine. The display wipes clean very easily. It brews consistency every time. You get a great tasting drink with every brew. The video I added shows the iced coffee option, but I have tried them all. It’s like having my own personal coffee shop. I can add my favorite syrups and creamers and it is just like getting Starbucks. It is pretty cool that the clock switches to a timer to count down exactly how long until your drink is ready. And when you make a full pot.of coffee, it counts up to show how long it has been there! Literally the only minor little qualm I have, is that the drip function doesn’t always empty completely when I make hot tea. I have tried it with both loose tea and a tea bag, and there is usually about 2 tablespoons left in the insert. If you don’t empty that, it will slowly drip down onto the warmer plate.

   We bought this on November 30, 2024 and without any mishandling, the valve at the bottom of the brew basket broke which means that it will not properly work. Instead of Mr Coffee customer service immediately simply sending a new brew basket, they are making us jump through hoops which means all types of pictures and information.

   DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LITTLE COMMON SENSE.

   4-8-2025 Update: Mr Coffee was to send a mailing label for replacement over a week ago. Nothing!

   There is lots to love about this sleek, versatile machine. Makes drip coffee or hot tea in 8, 12, 16 or 40 oz. carafe sizes; iced coffee, express cold brew, or iced tea in 12, 16, and 40 oz carafe sizes. Separate filters are provided for coffee and tea so that there’s no issue of taste transference – the machine senses which type of filter is inserted and provides applicable brew options. Instructions are detailed and easy to follow, providing precise measurements of how much tea or coffee is needed for your selection. The amount of scoops for certain selections will also show on the display. I found it quite easy to use after the first few tries. I tested the regular drip coffee mode, iced coffee mode, and iced tea mode and found the product to be terrific for all. The machine is SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certified as to proper temperature, brew time, and water to coffee ratio. The display also shows exactly how long until your product is finished and does a good job of holding the tea for steeping. Much better than those old iced tea machines. I love this machine and have put it to a lot of use already. It is on the pricey end so for those who are just looking for simple cup of joe, it’s probably more than you need. Update – Ugh. A few months in and I am not a fan. I am not a huge coffee drinker so originally I liked this machine for making the occasional cup and the coffee was exceptional. That has not changed. If you can get this coffee maker to work as you want it to, it makes delicious coffee. However, my Mom has dementia so I had to take over daily coffee making duties for her. Let’s all keep in mind this coffee maker has a list price of $299. Trying to set this coffee maker up on delay is like trying to get an act of Congress passed. Setting the delay function is almost impossible. I’ve had to toss at least a cup of ground coffee this evening because I think I’ve got it set and all of a sudden at the end it somehow switches to the Descale process, wets the coffee grounds, and ruins them. No matter how in depth you read the manual this problem still occurs. Unbelievable at this price point where all should be easy. It has so many functions that it makes it incredibly difficult to accomplish what you set out to do. I will be digging my Mom’s old $25 Mr. Coffee maker out of the closet to get her coffee made. It still makes darn good iced tea. Additional update- this is truly the most poorly designed coffee maker. The inability to make coffee in between 16 oz. and 40 oz. is ridiculous. Currently shopping for a new machine. The new one will not be from this brand.

   So the most important thing is it makes good coffee, the machine looks outstanding and professional. It follows good coffee process with temperatures and blooming the grounds. I think the scoop instructions and gram weights in the manual are pretty accurate, but people who follow weight and grind size recipes will find their own recipe anyway and probably differ slightly from the manual as I did. It’s not the easiest manual to read especially around some of the iced coffees So read the manual carefully. I have two caveats to this machine. 1. is it’s very tall and could be a little cumbersome to work under cabinets trying to pull the water reservoir for filling as well as opening access to the ground coffee reservoir. 2. (The bigger issue) It really confines you into its own workflow. As an example me and my wife both make a 24 oz of cup of coffee in the morning. This machine does not work off the “how much water you put in is how much coffee you get out” principal, it uses a reservoir and puts out as much coffee as you indicated you wanted in the brew setup. Unfortunately, the programmed options for hot coffee are only 8oz, 12oz, 16,oz and 40oz(carafe). So for us to make a 24 oz cup we need to figure out the grams or scoops because there is no 24 scoop recipe in the manual, then run the 12 oz program twice (or the 16 then 8 oz program) So It’s not just set up the machine hit the button and be done, you have to let the first 12oz cycle finish and then hit the button again to run a second cycle (with the same grounds since we use enough grounds for a 24 oz recipe). Not a big deal but bit of a hassle. Probably a bigger hassle for somebody who wants to make an amount that you can’t create with the options.. there’d be no way to do a 20 oz cup. I’m going to finish by saying Read the manual three times and and you still may have to adapt it to your workflow And as with any machine, you’ll need to dial it in with grounds, But you won’t have the option to adjust water. It’ll make great coffee and if you Make the amounts that are available in the options normally.. It’s also a great machine.

   You may have had a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker in the past. I have had one. Currently, I use a 10-year-old Technivorm Moccamaster. One thing you expect from Mr. Coffee is a good cup of coffee. This current coffee maker passes that simple standard but fails all of my other expectations. I would never have recognized those expectations but for using this coffeemaker for a couple of days. For this review, I am only going to discuss my coffee making issues because they are significant, beyond a discussion of “smart features” that might attract some buyers that take up more review space. For my brewing, I use a no. 4 filter without the mesh brewing basket in place. (The instructions say you can do this. I do not like mesh baskets, I find them messy, hard to clean, and a paper filter provides a more consistent brew batch to batch.) Let’s get to it… On the coffee brewing side, you expect a proper brew temperature. (190-205F brew water temp hitting the grounds, final temperature in the carafe 175-180F). Good water distribution over the grounds. Easy cleanup. Mr. Coffee met the first two, temperature measured with a quick thermometer were the same over batches and matched my Moccamaster (178F in the carafe, 190F+ in water hitting the grounds). Water distribution was good; grounds properly wetted with no dry spots. Unfortunately, Mr. Coffee failed on the clean-up side. A water distribution plate collects wet grounds during brewing (not overloaded, used measuring scoop). It is a mess and this distribution head is NOT removable. Are you just supposed to ignore it and let the grounds dry on the piece, contaminating the next batch? I poured water over it and let that waste run into a cup for cleanup. An unnecessary mess. This distribution head should be removable for a quick rinse (or soap and water cleaning. Also on the brewing side, for both my past Mr. Coffee, and current Moccamaster, I measure water using the carafe. I fill the carafe up to the approximate level that I expect to drink (90% full) and pour it into the water receiver. That volume of water is delivered to the carafe during brewing. So why does this current Mr. Coffee not deliver that entire volume of water? My carafe is filling up only about ¾, not nearly the water I poured into the water holder, as measured at the end of the timed brewing. The answer? Water remains stuck with the grounds after brewing. After brewing is complete, you have a slurry in the brew basket that really should not be dumped down the drain and cannot be dumped into the garbage because there is too much liquid. Lots of water stuck in the brewing area… why are the grounds not completely drained and just damp as they are with every other coffee maker I have ever used? I guess Mr. Coffee would say, “well, you used a paper filter rather than the mesh basket”? I would say, lots of people use paper filters and I have never seen this issue in my own coffee makers, nor in any prior “office” coffee maker I have used.” “Additionally, I used that paper filter following the instructions for that use.” Letting the carafe sit collecting “drips” does help change the volume of water in the grounds. 15 minutes after brewing it was somewhat drier but still very wet. Another mess to deal with—good thing I could just dump out the paper without dealing with the mesh filter! One more issue. In many coffeemakers there is a spring-loaded valve that pushes up against the carafe – open when the carafe is in place to allow liquid to move during the brewing process, and when the carafe is removed for a quick pour the valve closes. The operation manual says a quick pour during brewing can be done, but there is no valve. Apparently, a sensor detects the presence of the carafe. In actual practice, pulling the carafe out during brewing? Liquid does not stop immediately; coffee overflows the heating element and floods the counter. It does finally stop, but it is too late. Another mess. Who designs these things? Do they even try it out before approving a design? The typical stop valve works well –why replace it with a slow optical sensor? I cannot recommend this coffee maker. If I purchased it outside of coffeemakers.us.com Vine, I would send it back. A generous 2 stars for making a decent cup of coffee and the potential that some users might find this Mr. Coffee useful for its other functions. The rest is a mess. A literal mess.

   I’m returning my second Perfect Brew this week. On the first one, the plunger did not work, so coffee and tea never released from the filter basket. The second one slowly leaks water all over the counter during and after the brew cycle. There seems to be a real quality control issue with these coffee makers.

   On the plus side, the coffee that does brew is so good that I considered keeping it with the leak, but decided the hassle and possible damage to my kitchen was not worth it.

    Set aside your k cups and begin enjoying this super smart and tech savvy coffee machine. Easy to use and tons of settings for coffee and tea, hot and cold. I really enjoyed grinding fresh coffee and brewing a pot. Even after standing for a few hours with the warmer on, it didn’t have that burnt taste. Really glad I got this machine and plan on using it for a long time!

    This coffeemaker has a reservoir that holds water so you don’t have to fill it up all time. It’s easy for me to brew just one cup of coffee when I want it, or to brew a whole pot for company. The reusable filter is nice, but you also have the option of using paper filters. There is a bit of a learning curve (at least there was for me). I had to keep the manual close by for the first couple of days. Fortunately the manual was very clearly written and answered all of my most pressing questions. The warming function only keeps the pot of coffee warm for an hour and it’s not as hot as I would like it. It’s a bit pricey, but you do save a lot of counterspace.

    Absolutely love this coffee maker! There is a noticeable difference in the quality of this coffee and a standard drip maker or a Keurig, even when using just our everyday coffee (we like Community Coffee dark roast). There are just two of us in the house and it’s nice to be able to make a small pot in the morning (enough for us to both have two cups) and I love that it’s easy to make an excellent single cup that is so much better than a Keurig. I have also used it for hot tea (I did adjust for their recommended amount the second time) and I’m looking forward to making cold brew next Summer. 1 thing I will note is that the buttons around the dial are extremely sensitive and it’s easy to accidentally touch one while you are adjusting time or brew settings. I read another review talking about setting a delay brew and that’s what came to mind is that it would be very easy to hit descale accidentally. I would recommend setting the delay time before putting the grounds in. (I have ours start the same time every morning so once the time is set you just have to hit delay brew, it remembers the time).

    I am a self-confessed coffee snob. I love to try whole beans from favorite small roasteries. Unfortunately, my Keurig just didn’t do those coffees justice, so I bought this one. There is much to like here. It’s easy to use and clean. I love that it makes hot or iced coffee and that it has different settings and a separate brew basket for tea. I love that it can make one to 8 cups. I love that it auto-senses which brew basket is inserted and offers programming options accordingly. I especially love that it brews a truly great cup of coffee. It does have a few limitations, however. The warming plate doesn’t come on unless you brew a full 8-cup carafe. That’s an issue on mornings when I only want a mug or two. I paid this price to avoid microwaving great coffee into over cooked coffee just to warm it up. I don’t love that the warming plate only stays on for 60 minutes. I do want an auto shut off safety feature but an hour isn’t long enough to finish a full carafe. Overall, though, I’m pleased with it. The great taste of fresh, well-brewed coffee more than makes up for a couple of small annoyances.
