   Not the most intuitive interface—I’ll likely relabel it with a label maker for clarity: Controls: • Tap once → Turns on (Green = good battery, Red = needs charging). • Then Tap twice → Heats water for hot espresso. • OR – Press & hold after turning on → Cold espresso (bypasses heating, just pushes water through). I used fine espresso grounds (not pods), and the result was decent with a bit of crema. If you prefer really hot espresso, this isn’t for you—it’s drinkable right away, mildly hot. The espresso is not the thickest but still enjoyable. This was my first use, so I’ll see how it holds up. Some reviews mention overflowing issues, but one user fixed it by clearing a hole. To prevent clogging, I rinsed all parts and blew air through them after washing to keep it clear.

   I thought I was going to absolutely love this portable electric espresso machine, but simply didn’t. There are a lot of possibilities for making an espresso shot. I can use my own coffee or utilize a large or small espresso pod. I ended up thinking that this machine was more trouble than it was worth. If I were to use in in an office, perhaps I’d reconsider my opinion of it. As far as using it for hiking, it’s way to bulky and heavy to tote along. Frankly, I’d find it much easier to make a few shots of espresso and put them in a Thermos. When I’m out and about during the summer months, I do just that with my regular coffee. I tried this machine with both my own coffee and a small capsule. I’m not all that fond of drinking from a hard plastic cup, which is what this empties into. I do love espresso and enjoy it now and then. Mostly then because I don’t have a large espresso machine. For the price of just under $80. It’s just not worth investing in. I can see it being utilized in an office or an RV, but not camping or hiking.

   It comes with very poor instructions but I figured out how to use it.
   I used Lavazza ground coffee to make exactly 60ml of coffee.
   60ml is a tiny amount of liquid – it’s like one-fifth of a small 300ml mug.
   That’s barely a mouthful of coffee. It weighs about 1.5 lbs – hardly portable.
   It’s not practical to carry it just for a tiny amount of average coffee.
   Brew time is quick but the design and functionality is lacking.

   So the listing isn’t clear on which brand coffee capsules you can use. I was able to successfully use Nespresso original line as well as the larger Vertuo capsules to make surprisingly decent espresso. The instructions aren’t very easy to follow and you could get confused abut which parts of the capsule holder you need to use (and which ones not to use). Take a look at my pictures, one of them shows the order of components to use for the Nespresso original line capsule. I’m not sure on battery life time yet. I created one cup where it had to heat up the water, and 2 more cups where I pre-boiled the water. After these 3 cups, the machine gave no indication of needing to be charged. 
 This cordless machine is able to heat up the water in it’s reservoir to make espresso, but it will take quite a while depending on the temperature of the water you fill it with. It took approximately a little over 10 minutes for room temperature water to heat up and for the machine to start outputting coffee. I would highly advise you to just boil water separately to put into the reservoir, it will make the process much faster. The coffee came out nice and hot. Doesn’t have the crema of a normal espresso machine, but for camping and travel, this little device will be a great luxury to have. If there was one thing I would change about this machine, it would be for it to be capable of sitting over various sized mugs vs having it dispense into the clear plastic cup it came with.

   This does what it says, of course, not as a professional machinery would do. I chose this due to traveling as I thought I would add a small amount of strong coffee and dilute it with water in my drinking cup for a decent Americano during times when I am unable to be as persnickety about the quality. Additionally, I currently drink less coffee per volume and espresso is more easily the convenient serving or two that has the same morning awakening effect. I find it to be pricey for my taste on something like this, but perhaps for espresso lovers, it would be exuberant. I am still debating if I can make it worth the price, albeit it appears to be a well-built product. Overall it seems to be a good product, only maybe less useful to me.

   I really wanted this to work well, I suppose it would be OK for travel. It charges up quick and is very compact for travel use. The main issue, is the water does not get hot enough. There is an option to use heated water which can be hotter than the machine will make, but still not hot enough. The machine worked ok with the small Nespresso pods, but would not puncture the larger pods, I tried 4 times and decided to stop wasting them, it just made a mess. This could be a great machine, if the machine would get hotter and puncture the pods correctly. Again, it did work with the small/original pods. Will work in a pinch, but I was not satisfied with the results. I could also use ground coffee in it, but that is never strong enough to be espresso.
