After my grocery store stopped carrying my favorite cold brew, I started looking for alternatives, and eventually decided making my own was the way to go. I specifically wanted to avoid brewing and storing in plastic if possible, and I figured being able to make 4-7 day’s worth at a time would be ideal. This cleverly designed filter did the trick! It was easy to pick up some standard 64oz mason jars locally and the filter arrived before my last bottle ran out. Brewing was straightforward and I appreciated the notches that give a guideline so I don’t have to measure anything. The first brew was quite silty, but then I read the tag and saw that the cotton bag that it comes in is also a perfectly sized second filter. After using that, the coffee comes out clear and tastes great. If you’re only making coffee for one person, you might want to get the smaller 32oz system instead. The brewing process is much easier than I expected, so it’s no trouble to make fresh batches every few days, or even every night. The jars are cheap and easy to buy in a set, and the 32oz jars were more available than the 64oz in my experience. You could also try different beans or concentrations more often, which is something I’m excited to do after my first try came out so great. Overall, I’m very happy with this brewer.

The filter is very flimsy and cheap. After a few months my grounds started leaking through. Must have come loose around the bottom of the filter. I used coarse ground beans. It requires being shook every few hours to brew correctly.

I just finished my first round with the rumble jar and it turned out great! The attached images are from right after I started the brew, the finished product and the unit itself. It’s very easy to clean too which is the best! Just dump the grounds in a garden or plant if you can or in the trash and rinse the filter. Far easier than the bodum cold press I also have. I would certainly recommend this as a gift!

This left a lot of grounds in the jar and on the outside of the filter. Not perfect by any means so be prepared to wipe out the grinds from the jar and filter your cold brew.

I loved my first Rumble Jar so much that I bought another one! We use them every day to make cold brew in the warmer months, so now I always have a clean one ready to go. It’s easy to use and the cold brew comes out great with minimal sediment at the bottom of the jar, and I love that it works with the mason jars we already have. The only thing that I would improve, if I had to give constructive feedback, would be that it is a little hard to see the fill lines on the jar. But this is not an issue for me because I weigh my coffee beans with a scale to get the perfect amount for every batch, which is what I would recommend everyone do anyway. I recommend this product to everyone!

I like this filter a lot, and have used it nearly everyday for since mid-May 2023. But, I’m having to buy another to replace it. The top ring/lip that the orange lid secures to has detached from the filter body. So, it was excellent for 16 months before failure. I wish this same product could have a seamless rolled lip instead of the 2 piece configuration, but the price isn’t a deal breaker, so I’m in it for another one! It will be the 3rd I’ve owned. Same lip detatchment thing happened to the 1st one as well. Also, the lid got tossed out once and I was able to email the company and purchase one for around $5, which was great! Despite my first two failing, I like it enough to buy a 3rd! 😀

i was skeptical of buying this at first because it’s not cheap and i’m a college student but it eventually paid for itself with how much coffee you can make with it ! it’s so fun to use that i have surplus coffee in jars in my fridge bc i can’t stop making it now ! i normally use 1.5 cups of coffee to 6 cups of water at 10-12 hours and it’s the perfect flavor for me ! i’ve even used it to make cold brewed yerba mate tea and that worked wonderfully. i do usually end up using the filter bag after brewing just bc those tiny grains of coffee can really ruin the experience for me. i love it tho and i do not regret buying it at all.

9/4/2018 – this is my second go at giving my first review. I’m not exactly sure why my first review was flagged by coffeemakers.us.com but here is goes… I purchased this to replace my expensive cold brew habit. Here in Boston store purchased cold brew runs about $5 per cup. The Rumble Jar was recommended by a friend who’s tried a number of these devices. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good cup of cold brew. This is very easy to use. See my picture for reference. 5/18/2021 — UPDATE!!! Couldn’t live without it! Little did I know that I absolutely love having cold brew in the house. Not only have I purchased the original Rumble Jar for a bunch of my coffee-loving friends but I’ve also purchased a few of the Rumble Go’s for my wife and me (handy for when I hope on the bus to work). This is for the larger sized, 64oz Rumble Jar: RECIPE: I follow a recipe I found on the internet that calls for 1 part coffee to 4 parts water. That’s 4 cups of water for every 1 cup of coffee grounds. After 1-2 days brew (I prefer 2 days) your coffee concentrate is ready. I put my concentrate into a 1.5 liter glass container, and add 6 more cups of water. I have found an old 1.5 liter Livingston wine jar works great 🙂 VOLUME: There are 2 indicators on the steel mesh filter. The second one marks 1.5 cups of coffee grounds. This 64oz Rumble Jar is Perfect for using 1.5 cups of ground coffee of your choice, with 6 cups of water. JAR: I use a 64oz Wide Mouth Ball Mason Jar (I found mine for $6 in a store) FIT: The 64oz Rumble Jar fits perfectly in the 64oz Wide Mouth Ball Mason Jar. The orange silicone lid fits snug in the mouth of the jar, so no need to worry that the lid will come off as I give it a moderate shake here and there. ORVERALL: The Rumble Jar works exactly as described. I grind my coffee slightly more than ‘coarse’ so I do end up with some silt that settles at the bottom. It came in some nice packaging, and I only just now realized, while writing this review, that the mesh sock that the Rumble Jar comes with inside the box, is actually a secondary mesh filter. I have not used this yet, but I think it might even take care of that list bit of silt possibly. I am happy with my purchase, it seems to be strong, and long lasting. Happy Brewing!

I am skeptical when someone tries to improve upon the perfected. When this whole cold brew craze appeared, I wanted nothing to do with it. Drip coffee works just fine. Over time my defenses have worn down, perhaps it is related to this neverending home confinement, and need something to pep up my life. I’ve learned my lesson. Without a doubt, rumble jar cold brew coffee produces the smoothest coffee experience. From preparation and clean up to (most importantly) flavor. I use a pitcher for my cold brew. After putting my grounds into the rumbler I add my water directly into the rumbler with the grounds. I then move it up n down which I do this several times a day. It sits on my counter for 24+ hours. When I’m ready to pull it out I just dump the grounds n then use the filter cup to strain the coffee to get allllll the sediment out n there’s usually a lot so I do it twice. Then I just put the pitcher in the fridge n start a new batch. Easy peasy. Really does great cold brew.

The rumble jar is so quick and easy to use it should be used by anyone making cold brew coffee. The clean up is simple. It’s one of the best products I have bought. I have had no need to use the cloth filter bag as the cold brew from the filter is perfect.
Fill course grind coffee into the filter.( I like mine strong so I fill up to the 2nd mark and place in kilner jar. )
Fill with bottled spring water then brew for 24hrs in the fridge or 12hrs on the counter. Easy as that.
