   UPDATE: The screen is now absolutely illegible, now making changing the time, setting the delay brew, or reading time, impossible. What a piece of junk. I’ve had this coffee pot for 3 years. I know that’s a while to wait to leave a review but I also never thought I’d be leaving a review for a coffee pot so here we go. It’s a nice coffee pot. It looks good on my counter. Has all the features that I enjoy. A reusable basket. A detachable water basin. A program timer. And a crisp LCD display. A glass carafe. And it brews a cup of coffee. Oh and also I can chuck some of the parts in my dishwasher to clean them, top rack of course. However, as we’re approaching the three-year mark a few months ago, the LCD is starting to burn out (see picture). Which makes it hard to read if you quickly glance at it in the morning or if you want to say change the time on your delay brew. Maybe I’m being out of line expecting a coffee pot to last more than 3 years. But for the price that you pay for this thing I would expect it to last more than 3 years. Because otherwise it’s just wasteful, but here we are. Maybe I just had bad luck. Other than that, it’s a coffee pot!

   We bought this coffee pot two years ago. Its always worked fairly well. Nothing too fancy. I’ve noticed occasionally that it would leak at the bottom but wasn’t sure where it was coming from and never thought it was too much of a big deal. Until today, I noticed a leak again and when I went to clean it up the was was rust colored. I lifted it up and realized that the whole bottom has rusted. I don’t know if this will cause issues with brewing, quality of coffee, or a health or fire hazard. I just wished I had taken the leak more seriously at the beginning to maybe have gotten a refund or a replacement.

   I love this coffee maker. We have used it for over a week and it makes the best tasting, hottest coffee. I originally gave this coffee maker a 5 star rating but after having it for less than a month, my husband dropped the carafe in the sink and the plastic portion on top of the glass carafe broke. It wasn’t a fall from a high place and the glass portion did not break but the very top of the glass portion ( the plastic part) broke off. When I tried to buy a replacement carafe, it would cost us over $50 with shipping. This is why I reduced the rating to 4 stars. It does keep the coffee hot and the flavor is good but it is too expensive to replace the carafe if there is a minor accident.🙁

   No coffee maker is perfect and realize the $20 coffee makers make coffee just fine. I don’t mind spending a bit more for quality. Had a Braun before this which was OK but many silly issues and the fact the clock lost a minute a day so I had to adjust all the time. This is so close to perfect as the quality is awesome, the coffee is amazing(the brewing concept is perfect!), it looks great & overall easy to clean. The only recommendations I would ask and this could be an easy fix is lines on the carafe that show the amount of coffee in the pot (I know thats weird but I like to leave enough coffee for my wife and I have to estimate with this one). Also a pet peeve is the water reservoir does not breathe at all. So say if you turn it off and leave it will fill full of condensation. Work around is what I pictured by tilting the top over on the rear which is fine but a few vent holes would eliminate this work around. You cant add the the rear of sides as the measurement for 12 cups goes almost all the way to the top. I always try to clean the basket and leave it open through the day as moisture is just not good for coffee makers. Overall its AMAZING!!!!!! We have gone through 3 or 4 mid level makers (Braun, Krups, Cuisinart, etc and this by far the best bang for your buck!

   This is one fantastic coffee maker. You can tell Ninja cares about customer experience. The water tank comes off to fill easily. The filter cartridge comes off easily AND DOES NOT DRIP so you can walk it over to the trash to dump without a mess. The flavor is great! I love that I can push “keep warm” and it will reheat my coffee in about less than 20 minutes and the flavor is still great! (I’m a mom of young children…I often have to reheat my coffee.) Get this one, it’s SO worth it! Lots of great features you’ll love.

   I’ve only used this Ninja 12 cup coffee maker for a couple of days but so far, it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The coffee tastes GREAT, it’s much hotter than my previous coffee makers would produce, the water reservoir is easy to fill from the awkward, side-mounted water dispenser in my refrigerator, and the coffee pot doesn’t drip when I pour it. Yay! This is the best coffee maker I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many during my 50+ years on this planet. If you’re on the fence about which coffee maker to buy, I highly recommend this one.

   I loved this coffee maker, but after having this for almost a month, I noticed white residue in the sprayer and in the filter after there was no coffee in it. I’ve cleaned it out before using it (4 full times with a vinegar solution until it was clear) because I noticed the white residue then. Also, we ONLY use bottled water. The Ninja customer service was extremely helpful when we got this because it was received damaged and they fully replaced the damaged parts. But after having this for almost a month and noticing this white “stuff” in there, I’m very hesitant to use this again.

   Purchased in 2019, and used a couple times a week. When part of the LED display burned out a year ago [when it was 20 months old] – i was like “whatever” it still works and with only 1 section missing from the display, i could still figure out what it was trying to display. Now [march 2022 – 3 years old] the buttons dont work. Planned obsolescence i guess? So i rated it 2 stars, because i loved it while it worked. The permanent filter still looks and works great – hope it fits the non-ninja replacement i just bought lol. I’m pretty old and guess expect coffee makers to last longer than this. On the flip side, it was awesome while it lasted and projecting the cost of over time, it cost me about $40 per year… but now it ends up in a landfill and that is very upsetting. Stuff like this that doesnt last? Where do you think it goes after you toss it out? Val

    It looks great. Seems easy to use (we didn’tget to use it). We have had great experience with this brand on other appliances BUT all internal parts on this coffee maker are made out of cheap plastic. No BPA, but still plastic. Pros: Stylish and digital Normally great customer service) Comes with a coffee spoon you can attach to the side Carafe has a lock position Water reservoir is removable (cool!) Cons: Water reservoir is plastic as well as the “straw” that sucks the water to be heated Filter holder is plastic “Brew through” carafe lid is also plastic so in contact with your coffee. We don’t recommend this product only because we believe when plastic gets hot and in contact with food/beverages may be harmful to humans. If only Ninja could offer a plastic free coffee maker we would buy it right away.

    In only a couple of years the lights in the clock have gone out so the auto start cannot be programmed. Though it makes good coffee not being able to set the time and use auto start function the coffee maker looses a significant amount of its functionality.     This is such great new technology. Will never go back to old styled pot. Love the reservoir on the side for water. No need to poor water in coffee pot any more. This one is better then the one at Walmart. Walmart has a paper filter kit, coffeemakers.us.coms product has a solid permanent screen mesh filter basket which is much better. Dont buy the one at Walmart they are the same models. Coffee has never tasted better. There is a locking lid which is great. There is a black straw on coffee pot that puts the fresh coffee at the bottom of pot, which make the coffee blend better. All the buttons can be confusing but it’s easy to figure out with the manual. Now I make two pots because it taste so good!!!!

    Bought this a little over 4 years ago, and it’s been sort of OK. I like the separate, removable container for water. But the carafe drips, so we have to pour over the sink and wipe off coffee that drips down the carafe. Worse, though, is that the clock has been failing one LED at a time for a couple of years now. It’s now at the point where not only can I not tell what time it is or what the delayed brew is set for, but I can’t even set it anymore. I used to be able to unplug it and start from what I knew was 12:00 AM. Now, there aren’t enough LEDs left to get me to the correct time. And it also seems to have suddenly and randomly started resetting the time and program. If all you want to do brew on demand, never programming to have the coffee ready when you wake up, it may be OK…as long as you’re also willing to have a carafe that drips when you pour.

    I’ve had this coffee maker for almost 4 years. I’ve loved it, but the LEDs that tell you which mode it’s in; how it’s programmed; and what time it’s programmed to brew; (all of which are essential, in my case), burn out after 2-3 years. The attached photo was taken when the clock should be reading “8:28” and both the power button and delay brew button should be illuminated, but they’re burned out. Ninja cut corners on their LEDs evidently.

    I love this coffee maker. It is reasonably priced, easy to use and clean, programmable, allows me to serve friends and family members (pre-covid, Of course). But… exactly one year after purchasing it, the digital display is starting to malfunction. I now can’t tell if the “small batch” option was selected, and the numbers on the clock are incomplete. Not a huge deal, but hope it doesn’t mean that other issues will start appearing too.

    We like the coffee this thing makes, but it is driving me crazy. Every night, we set it to Rich and make sure Small Batch is turned off before activating Delay Brew. But when it comes on the next morning, it immediately switches to Classic and Small Batch. The video shows this happening today. It does make good coffee, but the filter runs over, which makes me think we’re going to get grounds in our coffee sometimes. And from my experience with other coffeemakers I know that grounds getting in the basket valve will almost certainly cause it to leak when you pull the pot out in mid-cycle. I suspect it runs over because it is pumping too fast. We almost always make a full 12 cups. I called the helpline and was pleased to get a live person almost immediately (kudos for that). We sent the first unit back per his instructions, but the second one is doing exactly the same thing. With both machines, if I start it manually, the Rich light will stay on and the Small Batch light will stay off, which is what I want. But the filter still runs over most of the time. Occasionally the first machine would do drastically better in that regard, with the grounds coming no closer than an inch below the top edge of the filter. I’m assuming this is the way it’s supposed to work with the Rich/Regular Batch settings when you’re brewing a large quantity: it should pump slower so the filter basket does not fill up, and the water has more time to absorb the coffee on its way to the carafe. I suppose I could call Shark Ninja again, but I’m afraid I’ll just be wasting my time boxing up and shipping the second one back, and the third one will do the same thing. This is a moderately pricey device, so I expect it to work right. Has anybody successfully used the Rich setting with Small Batch off in Delay Brew mode? Update 1/28/2019: I have added a second picture of the filter after brewing. The first shows what usually happens: the filter runs over and grounds float out into the basket. The second shows what happens occasionally (twice so far with the replacement unit): the moistened grounds do not come anywhere near the top of the filter. The second one is what I want to see. Why is this not consistent? Sometimes it’s okay but most times the grounds go everywhere. We have given up on the settings. It ignores them when Delay Brew is used, and they don’t seem to make a difference anyway. Update 2/13/2019: Another flaw I forgot to mention is that the buttons are very hard to push. You have to press so hard that it’s necessary to reach around the back and hold the machine to keep it from sliding. And as other reviewers have mentioned, the coffee is too hot to drink without letting it cool for a minute. I’m taking off a star. This thing annoys me more every day.

    UPDATE: 2/11/22 After 2 years our machine has started to leak. It still makes good coffee but our counter is all wet in the morning. I called the Ninja company and they offered to sell me a new one at a discount but the warranty is only 1 year. (not great) I’m going to take it apart and try to fix it. I waited a year before writing a review of our Ninja 12-Cup. This is important to make sure we had time to learn how to properly use the features as well as test the durability with daily use over the course of a year. Our last machine was a fairly expensive Krups coffee/espresso machine and there were many problems with it. I found myself often asking, “did they ever actually try this machine before they put it on the market?” This Ninja machine is very well designed. It’s as if the engineers were actually using the product as they designed it! For one, the carafe pours perfectly. (Our old machine would drip every time we poured a cup.) Also, we love rich, dark coffee and this machine does it really well. I also love the external water tank. This allows you to fill the reservoir without using the carafe that may have residual coffee in it. (keeps the internal works much cleaner) The hot plate keeps the coffee just right and it even has an auto shutoff after two hours. (I’ve forgotten to shut it off on our old machine and had some really burned coffee stains on the pot) Finally, I never thought that we’d use the automatic timer/brew start. But now we use it pretty much every day. It’s so easy and logical to set and it’s so nice to wake up to fresh brewing coffee early in the morning! Note: I will add the caveat that I keep all of our household appliances clean and dry. It’s never good for any machine to be left wet day after day. I also clean the hot plate if it gets dripped on, etc. This has always worked well for us and makes most appliances last for many years. Well done Ninja!

    I owned a Ninja coffee maker before and the LCD panel for the clock failed over the three-years I owned it, making it impossible to set the clock. Otherwise, I was happy with the device, so I ordered a new one. This time, the product was damaged when I received it. (Refer to the attached photo.) As it works and I have a very busy schedule, I plan to keep it and try a different brand from a local store later this year.

    I made the switch from my small 4 cup Mr Coffee to this model after my Mr Coffee passed away suddenly and without warning (gone too soon). Well, pour one out for him because this Ninja has snuck its way into my heart. It is larger than the 4-cup, obviously, but still compact enough to fit perfectly in the spot where I kept it. I suggest measuring before purchasing. I’m the only one who drinks coffee, so the small brew option is perfect for me, and I love I now have the option to brew more at once when I have company. I only use the rich brew option because of other reviews I’ve read, and it’s perfect. Flavor of coffee really shines. I followed instructions and ran two full pots with plain water and cleaned all removable parts, and the coffee tasted great. The delayed brew works as expected. I notice that if I still have coffee left after the stay warm feature clicks off, I can turn it on and within a minute or two the coffee is reheated, but I haven’t done this too often. This model has a permanent filter with the option of using #4 paper filters. I have skipped the paper filters and like how it tastes and find clean up a breeze. With this, expect a grittier last cup of coffee. This doesn’t bother me at all. I’ll update later if I have any issues with time. Enjoy!

    Alright coffeemakers.us.com family! I’m gonna start off with dislikes in this review. Guess what? I have none! This is a amazing Ninja Coffeemaker. If you wanna make coffee like a ninja! This is where it’s at! Grind up your beans and slap it in the permanent filter basket. (Which is easy to clean.) Pull off the water tank and fill it with the desired amount for what you’re gonna drink. 12 cups to 2 cups. I don’t reccomend 2 cups. You won’t go about your day feeling like a Ninja. (More like a sloth.) I’ll remind you. If you’re having 4 cups or less. (Sissy!) Make sure to push the small batch button. So you have two options for brew taste. You have classic for your no sugar and creamer types. Then you have rich mode for the sugar and creamer types. Once you’re all set! Carafe is in place, check! Push the brew button and you have tasty delicious coffee. I mean delicious. Why do I say that you ask? Well there is this amazing straw that coffee goes down to enter your carafe. It percolates your coffee and gives it a full robust taste and smell. Oh yeah here’s another feature. This fancy ninja machine has a delay timer. (Leave the unit on though.) Set the desired time for your morning wake up. Next thing you know you wake up to the nice fresh smell of brewed coffee! So grab this like a ninja today! You will not be let down! Don’t be a sloth!

    Initially I was skeptical because the reviews seemed mixed. It checked all of my boxes though so I went ahead and took the risk. Couldn’t have been more happy with my purchase!!! Has been a solid workhorse for the last 3.5 years! Only reason I’m replacing it now is because the clock is going out. I do often preset my coffee for the morning so that is essential for me. Love it so much I’m buying it again!!
