   Maybe it’s not so noticeable in the picture (it is small) and I don’t want to be nit-picky but why is it already rusting?     Received a unit from a Good Friday deal and had some problems using it with Nespresso capsule where it wouldn’t pierce the capsule. Reached out to Outin and their customer service was great and they replaced my unit. The new unit has worked well so far. The overall quality of the unit very good, I like that it can do both capsule and ground coffee, and the quality of the espresso that comes out is pretty close to my home Nespresso machine. Also, it’s great to have the accessories to do both capsule and ground coffee, but carrying those accessories around is a pain. I’ve found that I can stick half of them in the cup and the other half in the water area and almost close the top. It isn’t fully seated, but it’s close enough to pack it all up. The big draw back, and why I only gave it 4 stars, is because you can’t use the machine while it is plugged into a power source, like a battery or outlet. If you’re heating the water, which is the case for me, it can only be use twice before it needs to be charged. Charging it takes hours, which means two cups in the morning max if you don’t have an external hot water source. You should be able to use it with external power.

    There are some great reviews for this product – check them out for more detailed info. We’re home espresso drinkers (Gaggia Platinum) but also road trippers and trailer campers. We’ve tried drip, french press, mokka pot, cowboy coffee and even cold brew, but they each had at least one major drawback. Now though – with the propane stove we can use hot water and get a couple quick shots (and use the remaining water to make an Americano if wanted), it takes up less of our valuable space and is so easy to clean up. Score for camping! The unexpected bonus – we also road trip with a Tesla, and now can have a delicious espresso (and hopefully a cookie) while we’re charging. We can watch camping videos on YouTube and sip espresso while we wait -sometimes makes us wish charging took longer 🤣

    I had an issue with a first unit that I received, it failed to puncture pods after couple of days, so not really anything to do with functionality of this device, and for non-pod option I would of had no issues. It’s just for the price there are some expectations. The seller reached out to me, was very pleasant, and I received a replacement that now has no issues. I did my research, there is no good competition to this one, because this device has stainless steel water reservoir, and pressure is higher than most of the competition. It’s light and portable, gives me about 4 servings on a single charge with boiling water. Charging is actually faster than my first unit, although I haven’t really timed it, but seems faster.     I love coffee, and I can barely get up on the morning without my morning coffee. As my job requires, I have to travel a lot (I’m currently on a business trip to South America). For us who needs and enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee, this is a must. The dimensions are similar to a water bottle/travel mug, but heavier due to the battery and mechanism. It makes a delicious espresso, using a strong flavored pod (I haven’t used it with coffee powder). It takes about 3 minutes to make your delicious espresso. The battery lasts only for 3 brews, but it totally worth it considering it needs a lot of energy to boil the water and pump it through the pod/coffee grinds. Because the battery is made of lithium, you’ll need to take it on your carry on luggage at planes (cannot be taken on checked baggage, because of TSA restrictions), but it doesn’t take a lot of space. In my opinion it totally worth the money, the battery autonomy and the extra weight on you carry on!

    Between this one and Brevoy, the brevoy comes with double shot capacity and 9000 mAh battery which is more than the Outin. However the reason for getting the Outin was that it was more tested and been out there longer so I went with the more reliable. First I tried using ground coffee and the espresso was very underwhelming. Not much crema and very weak even though I packed the grounds 80% the way instructions tell you. Tried a couple more times and it was just not worth it. The clean up is also messy and inconvenient. Then I ordered original Nespresso capsules and the espresso came out much better. But not as good as my vurtuo Nespresso machine. It takes a lot of battery when using the heating and the espresso comes out lukewarm. With the battery life you’d heat 2-3 drinks. CleAn up is much more convenient with the capsules. I also noticed the insides of the machine parts become wet so it is important to disassemble it and let the parts dry to avoid mold growth. All in all good product especially if you must have your coffee on hikes or camping but there is definitely room for improvement if you consider the price.

    Received this machine this morning March 2nd. Was extremely excited as I spend lots of time on planes I wanted a strong espresso made with good water. Well turned the machine on and immediately gave me the error for what’s called in the User Guide “SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION.” There’s no number to even call. You have to send an email. Looked at the reviews here and apparently this is a known issue with this piece of crap. Don’t spend your money on this. I was so excited for good strong coffee. ********UPDATE******* I was contacted by the brand. They informed me they this was some sort of malfunction and the machine needed to be replaced. They replaced it and I was able to make coffee successfully finally. So far it’s working fine as intended the machine

    I can’t really complain much about this product, it’s not so bad minus some complains. Two main complains that keep happening here and there, and one is something that can’t be controlled. My first complain is Battery Life, i use it to heat up the water at a full charge you can only use it twice. Battery goes from full 4 lights to 2 lights or half of the battery. I don’t see the 3-4 uses like it mentions in some reviews, it also has to be plugged in a 1 Amp charger so it takes its time to charge. My other complain is that sometimes when it dispenses the coffee it will stop dispensing but it still sounds like it wants to dispense some more, but nothing comes out. When this happens I have to take the part where it attaches to the cup lift the coffee reservoir out and put it back then press the dispense bottom again and that would do it. If this issues wouldn’t occur this will be a five star item.

    I do a lot of traveling for work, and am addicted to strong coffee. This thing works great once you get the grind and process down. Even better, purchase Cafe La Llave. Weigh out 18 grams, and presto, great tasting espresso!!! I also ordered the double shot basket set. Down fall to that is it only comes with one basket. Outin currently doesn’t sell individual double baskets or double basket bundles like the single basket bundle they have. Other than than that marketing flaw, I love this thing!

    Everything worked well at first. Also keep in mind it takes a while to heat up But that’s ok because it’s battery operated. After two weeks of use (1 pod a bay generally sometimes two ) , it doesn’t seem to make a good connection. To the nespresso pods so to speak, it’s difficult to close the bottom threads now too. Will be returning , shame as it’s a good concept EDIT: This company did make it right and sent me a replacement , they responded quickly so i have to give them credit where due. Hopefully this one doesn’t have issues and this is a good product

    Alright. I’m a lifelong espresso drinker. Every morning. I make my morning latte every day. Someone gave me a Vienna Plus espresso machine and it’s saved my life and pocket book. The biggest problem I’ve had is when I go camping. I’d been doing those iced coffee Starbucks packets, but they were always so sweet and don’t hit the mark for me. On my camping/road trips I spent too much of my budget just making sure I’m caffeinated. And now I’m not giving my money to Starbucks (union busting my friends in Seattle) so I looked for other options. I thought about upgrading my solar battery to a larger output so I could bring my Vienna Plus espresso machine, but that’s ridiculous and big, and also expensive to upgrade to a high enough output. But I was tempted. Then someone mentioned this Outin compact espresso machine on their outdoorsy YouTube channel. (Modern Self Reliance) I don’t think he was sponsored by them, but just wanted to give a review. I put it in my mind bank because it was $140 at the time. Honestly still a reasonable price with the results I have. But then it was on sale for Prime Day at $111. I thought I’d give it a shot (pun intended). They take returns if I don’t like it. Let me tell ya. I was actually shocked. It might pull better shots than my Saeco Vienna Plus. And the espresso has a more sweet balance, which I like. Positives. Awesome shots, portable, charges fairly fast, but I recommend charging the night before if you have coffee dysfunction in the morning. It will use most of the battery for 3 shots. Works really well for iced latte. Negatives. Takes quite a while to heat up between shots (you can preheat the water to shorten this time). You need to watch out when you unload the spent coffee for the next shot because it can be really hot. The set up was confusing per the instructions and I needed to go to YouTube. There was a random piece that didn’t seem to be needed and maybe I’ll figure that out later. It says it takes Nespresso pods, but I absolutely could not figure out how to fit them in the space nor how it was supposed to puncture the pod, so I just cut open the pod and tamped the espresso directly in the device. At that point I may as well just buy pre-ground espresso for cheaper. Lesson learned. The instructions and pieces need to be color coded because all I can see in the pictures are “put this thing in this black cylindrical piece”. Which is almost all of the pieces! Maybe it was my eyesight. Maybe it was my lack of having had coffee. But I can imagine someone with a disability finding this confusing. [Update: When I was fully caffeinated I realized the extra piece was the slot for the pods. D’oh! See, this is why they should be color coded. But crisis averted for the rest of the trip. Which went great except for one particularly cold morning and the water was too cold to heat up the 3 double shots I was pulling. Pre heating the water is a good idea if you can.] Overall, despite those negatives, I recommend this device for those who have roughed it when going camping and hate that part of camping without a comforting espresso. It’s a nice little luxury amongst bugs and the 100°+ weather at Lake Siskiyou that we are being cursed with. Dare I say I might even be tempted to use this at home as well. Maybe. It does take a lot longer. But I really like the flavor of the shots. Highly impressed!
