   My wife gave me this cold brewer for Christmas. She felt that the one I was currently using had become too cumbersome because I usually had to filter the coffee after it was brewed. She told me that this one should make my CoffeeLife™ simpler. She wasn’t wrong. This little unit solved the problem AND produced a more highly concentrated brew. In the end, the same amount of grounds yielded the same amount of ready-to-drink coffee but with FAR LESS effort. Additionally, with this unit, I’ve taken to letting it brew, on the counter, rather than in the fridge. The instructions indicate 12-24 hours at room temp or 20-24 hours in the fridge. I cannot argue with the result. Where things fall apart is in the cleanup. I could throw every component of my old cold brewer into the dishwasher. This manufacturer indicates that this unit is not dishwasher safe. That’s a big drawback in today’s busy world. All in all, if not for the necessary hand-washing, I’d give this 5 stars. The brew is consistent from batch to batch with no need to filter. I see very little sediment in the carafe when I pour it out and I experience ZERO grit when drinking my brew. My wife insisted on getting me a second carafe but I don’t store the brew that way and the brewer is ready for another batch, as soon as I finish the first. Super convenient. Easy to use. 5 stars if not for the need to hand-wash. coffeemakers.us.com won’t let me give 4.5 stars or I probably would.

   I was really excited to receive this product as I thought it would change the way I drink coffee. The first time I used it, it came out of the box already assembled. I didn’t take it apart, but I did wash it before using. I read the instructions booklet as well as watched video tutorials on how it’s supposed to be done. The first time, it was a success. I let it steep for about 24 hours and then had it slowly drip into the glass beaker. I disassembled the pieces and cleaned them by hand. A few days later I reassembled them, I confirmed with the instructions that the two lines are supposed to align when you assemble it back together. I made sure they aligned perfectly, even though it still felt a tad bit loose. It seemed like it could have been screwed a bit more on, but I thought the instructions knew best. I filled up the base with the coarse coffee grounds and set it in my fridge to steep. I opened my fridge a few hours later and found that coffee water had been leaking out of the device ever since I set it in there and there were pools of coffee water all over my fridge. I had set the product on the top shelf so it dripped down onto everything in the fridge so not only did I have to wash all the food in my fridge, I had to figure out how to remove all the shelves so I could wash those clean too. It was a nightmare. And yet, the coffee I was able to still salvage was pretty good, so I thought I would try this again. This time, I was skeptical. I put the product in a large bowl so that if it did leak, it would be caught in the bowl. I carefully assembled all the pieces together again, making sure I placed the filter in just right and that the lines lined up. And sure enough, it leaked. Luckily though, this time the mess was contained inside the bowl. I’ve tried the process again a few times after that, at times screwing it just a tad bit tighter even though the lines didn’t match up, thinking that would be my problem. No such luck, it has leaked every single time. While it does make delicious coffee, this doesn’t seem worth it to me.

   I’ve used this several times and it’s a good product, but with flaws. Its very simple to use, just add coarse coffee grounds (I do half the amount recommended by the manual) and add 24 oz of water. I let it sit in the refrigerator for 15-24 hours depending on how strong I want to make the concentrate. The flavor is good and smooth, but it depends on the coffee grounds you use. The footprint is also very compact which is nice that it doesn’t take up much space and isn’t tall. For the bad. Although super easy to drip, the dispense mechanism is at the bottom with no cap to prevent errors. I’ve had a time where the gasket did move and I didn’t realize it and it had leaked. Luckily, I normally put it in a large bowl in case of such disaster. The cleanup of 24oz of coffee in the refrigerator would be horrible. For those that have had it leak, make sure the gasket is at the bottom most groove of the container (picture from manual). Also, even if the gasket is in place, there’s always some small drops that leak here and there through the plunger which require the occasional cleanup. While minimal, it still can stain counter tops or cause a mess if it dripped on something. If i had to do it again, I would choose a cold brew maker that doesn’t have so many moving parts at the bottom (or none). Although minor, when it fails, it failure is a horrible mess and will ruin your day.

   Just like the title says, I love how compact and convenient it is to make cold brew. Eliminating steps in my process. I’m used to making cold brew in whatever containers I have around, and it can be kind of messy sometimes even a hassle to filter. Remember that the amounts listed in the manual are just suggestions. A guide to help you find your perfect cup. If 6oz of coffee doesn’t suit you try 5oz. it’s that easy. Regular AeroPress filters are much cheaper and fit perfectly well in this cold brewer. The slight difference in circumference is NOT an issue as they fit recessed into the threads and seal perfectly. Your brew will be clean of silt and fine dust as well as a lot smoother. I consistently find that 130-150grams of ground coffee to 710ml of water yields about 473ml of concentrate… Thats 24oz of water combined with 4.5oz of coffee grounds yielding 16oz of cold brew concentrate. I find that this concentrate is best tasting mixed with 3 parts milk or water for a 1:3 mixture. That’s 2oz of cold brew concentrate mixed with 6oz of milk or water, making an 8oz coffee drink that tastes amazing. Your milage will vary but give it a try! Using only 2oz of concentrate to make my daily coffee means that I can make 8 coffee drinks before I need to brew again.

   The brew container at the top is significantly larger than the collection container at the bottom. If you make a batch anywhere near the capacity of the brew pitcher, it will overflow the glass collection pitcher. I was hoping that I could brew a batch and then leave it on the collection pitcher unattended. Luckily I checked on it before it overflowed. I like to make batches that start with 910 grams (31 ounces of water). The brew pitcher can handle this volume. However the resulting coffee is more than the collection pitcher can fit. The instructions have a recipe which says to use 24 oz water, resulting in 16 oz of coffee. That will fit just fine in the glass collection pitcher, but then the top brew pitcher is like twice as big as needed. In the end this does work. I would have given it a full five stars if the bottom glass pitcher had been bigger.

   I’ve been using the OXO Compact Cold Brew Maker, and it’s quickly become a favorite. I’ve tested brew times from 18 to 24 hours, and 18 hours hits the mark for the best flavor. I also played around with coffee-to-water ratios and prefer using more water for smoother extraction. Initially, I struggled with full extraction, but trial and error helped me nail it. Now, I just pour everything in and make sure the grounds are properly saturated. I’ve been using Starbucks Veranda Blend Blonde Roast, and the 12-ounce pre-ground bag costs around $8. Recently, I scored a 28-ounce bag at Target for $17, and I’m looking at Costco for a light to medium roast, but so far, it’s mostly dark roasts there. The brewer has a solid capacity. One time, I let it sit too long and it overfilled the carafe, but I got almost 32 ounces of concentrate—enough to fill my Chameleon Cold Brew bottle. The thing is, the Chameleon concentrate (which is supposed to be diluted) doesn’t hit hard enough for me. It’s not great quality, and I’m not surprised it’s from Texas—what do they know about strong coffee anyway? Overall, the OXO brewer has been a great addition to my setup. It’s simple to use, delivers consistently strong cold brew, and makes it easy to experiment with different brewing times and coffee ratios. Highly recommend if you’re looking to step up your cold brew game.

    I’ve been using this for under four months, generally about 1-2 times a week. It worked perfectly fine for a month or so. Then it started leaking… And leaking… And leaking. I now set the coffee dripper part on a plate while brewing overnight; by morning the plate is full of leaked coffee. And as pictured, it also leaks while draining after brewing. Annoying.

    I chose this brewer after looking at quite a few different ones. It’s great, really easy to use, clean and store when not in use. It makes really good cold brew and needs a coarse / very coarse grind of beans. I really like the glass carafe and having the concentrate available in the fridge makes coffee easy whether drinking it hot or cold.

    This little brewer is cute as a button. But there are multiple disadvantages in actual use. The instructions call for a LOT of grounds. The “rainmaker” lid is a gimmick. I found you still need to stir the grounds to get them well saturated with water. The filter mechanism is tedious to clean. You cannot take the spring loaded filter section completely apart. The carafe lid is made of cork. I’m concerned that over time it will deteriorate. The rainmaker lid did not sit flush on the unit when stacked (tried multiple ways to arrange the lids). Not sure which component is out of spec. The cold brew did taste good. And given the amount of coffee grounds/water ratio, it was very concentrated. The Takeya cold brew maker is a much easier unit to use.

    If you are a cold brew lover this is for you. It really is very compact and SO easy to use. This was my first time to make cold brew myself and here are my take aways: 1. I did not realize how many beans go into it (2-2.5x the normal amount for regular brewed coffee). You use coarse ground coffee beans and fill it to the bean in the black container. 2. You use 24 oz of water (the dot on the glass caraffe marks 12 oz) 3. Place the rain cap on top before pouring your water in and then place the cap on top. This is all that it takes to make it. 4. The coffee brews in the black container (12-24 hrs on counter and longer in the fridge). Once it has brewed enough place the black container on the glass caraffe and it will pour into it for storage. 5. If you use the full water amount you get 16 oz of coffee concentrate (5-7 cups of cold brew coffee) It was very easy to use and is so compact so doesn’t take much counter or fridge space. It is also easy to travel with if you so choose!

    This is an excellent cold brew system. Firstly, I’ve seen a review that says it overflows when filtering into the glass holder; that’s simply not the case if you follow the directions. As instructed, I used 175g of large ground beans and 800g of water. This is a ratio to make concentrate and then can be later diluted to your strength preference. Secondly, my personal preference is for a more fibrous filter, metal straining will always transmit more sediment and natural coffee oils. The Oxo paper filters fit perfectly in this, even though the system is totally functional with the mesh strainer as is. Easy to clean and store when not in use, it looks nice for serving and prep, and it is well designed. The “rain fall” topper is a nice addition that ensures fully saturated coffee grounds.

    TIP: If you wake up to find that this thing has leaked all over your fridge or counter, don’t throw it out! The trick is not to screw it together all the way to the indicator line. Try screwing it half an inch short of the line and the leaking should stop. It’s a good size for one or two people. Following the recipe, my wife and I have enough concentrate for a few days of cold brew. It uses a lot of coffee beans, so we use cheap beans and we still enjoy the brew.

    This coffee maker was much smaller than I expected (not sure where I got my expectations, but there they were), as it only produces maybe 2 cups worth. For my needs it suits decently well, but it is really more of a personal machine than for groups. Operation is simple: you put some coarse grounds in the top, pour some water over it, and then set it aside for 12-24 hours. Then you set it on top of the little glass container and drain out the liquid. I used pre-ground coffee, so not at all coarsely ground as the instructions instructed. I compensated by adding more water. I was very slapdash about it, but it turned out pretty good (though very strong). I had to drink some of the chilled coffee before I could finish draining it from the machine.

    I used to buy my cold brew coffee from a reputed store until a colleague at work suggested me to buy this small portable cold brew coffee maker. And that changed my coffee drinking habits (and saved me a lot of money). This coffee maker is very simple and easy to use. All you need to do is fills the water and add grounded coffee and let it brew (I generally do it in the refrigerator to preserve the aroma of the coffee). And then you can drain the coffee in carafe and enjoy it as long as you want. The cold brew made in this brew is far better and richer as compared to the one I used to get from the store and it gives the satisfaction of using the best coffee beans and assurance that is got fresh beans. And it’s very easy to clean as well. There are two concerns i have. It takes a lot of coffee powder to brew in this. One way is to brew concentrate coffee and then dilute later. Secondly, there is always a risk of the brewing container to leak the coffee drop by drop. For the same reason, I keep it to brew in some other vessel so that there is no mess in the freezer.

    We had two Mizudashi-style brewers for the past 6 years. Solid routine, worked well. Tried this Oxo one over the past couple of weeks over 3 brew cycles. 1) The Leaking. The instructions state to line up the two white ticks (see pic) to avoid liquid escaping the brewer prior to placing it on the glass small carafe. Followed these instructions and 2 of the 3 cycles had considerable leakage. Luckily left them all with a bowl below to avoid spillage everywhere. This last time when deciding to return it, a 3rd of the liquid had drained in the first 3 hours of brewing (it recommends 12-24hrs for counter brewing). 2) The ratio of grind to yield. I followed their instructions to a T the first time and realized what they recommended for amount of beans to grind was high and a waste of beans. Defeats the purpose of home brewing as the cost of beans to follow this method would be more expensive than buying a cold brew every day from a shop. The last time, I only ground enough beans in line with my previous brewers. But due to the leaking, didn’t have any coffee left to even taste it today.

    I’ve been looking for a cold brew maker on the internet, and this one had really good reviews so I decided to try it out! This compact cold brew maker is the perfect size for me! After brewed it makes about 12oz of strong coffee, but that amount goes a long way because I mix mine with milk and cream. I personally can get about 4-6 drinks out of one brew. It has a great filtration system, so there’s never any coffee grounds in the brew, and it’s super easy to clean! My only suggestion is to not add coffee beans all the way to the bean line. I fill it about 3/4 to the bean line and then add 24oz of water on top and it always turns out very strong. But, if you like very strong coffee, then fill it all the way up to the line!! I highly recommend for all cold coffee lovers. Saves time and money in the morning so you don’t have to run to a coffee shop to get your fix every day.

    The only problem we had with this cold brew maker, is that the first time we used it, it was sitting on the counter and one member of the family mistook it for part of our blender and dumped the coffee all over the floor. You cannot see inside the appliance, so you cannot tell what it is. So we informed everyone in the household what this thing did, and went on to make the perfect cold brew by the next day (after cleaning coffee grounds off the counter and floor for eternity). This OXO Brew Compact Cold Brew Coffee Maker does make an excellent cold brew. The end result makes a concentrate that would ultimately fill about five Starbucks Venti cold brew coffees (this from a Starbucks barista, if that gives you any reference point). The brew is smooth, and very, very good. It rivals anything from a boutique coffee bar, provided you use reasonably good coffee in the first place (we used stuff from our local coffee company). And, what the heck, here’s the recipe the barista uses to sort of recreate a Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew: dilute coffee (about 1/5 of the concentrate) using the 1:2 ratio of coffee to water. Add a teaspoon of sugar. Add these to a cup filled halfway with ice. In a separate container, mix 1 teaspoon of vanilla syrup with 2 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream and pour on top to get a marbled effect!

    I’ve been using this brewer for over a year now. I bought it in desperation, 2 months postpartum… I’m also very lazy when it comes to measuring and storing… I was hesitant when people were complaining that it doesn’t seal tight enough or that it over produces and won’t fit the little carafe… like any logical person, I found a solution. Using 6oz of coffee grounds and 24oz of water I let mine only brew for 12 hours. It gives me a little more that the dot on the side of the carafe, but lasts me an entire week… of course this is a concentrate. But when you figure out how strong you prefer it, you find a system.

    The first two times I used this, it was great. However it now leaks continuously. I have gone from the two vertical.lines aligned to twisting it as tight as I can. Doesn’t matter. You can literally watch it Leaking between the upper and lower sections. The photo is after ten minutes of wiping and changing paper towels. You can see the water stain and the water bubbles that have slowed, but are still happening. So disappointed. I have the Oxo coffee grinder, and I love it, but not this.

    Its very easy to use and not limited to its suggested ratios (however there is a maximum). You can use them with paper filters (I use the Toddy paper filters) which makes clean up easier and I prefer the taste anyway. The mechanism when aligned properly should be leak proof. Honestly a great sell for people who are not trying to make a ton of cold brew with limited space.

    I won’t write much.

    The cold brew made from my home roast coffee (roasted in a nostalgia air popcorn popper), taste exactly like what I was looking for. Now I can enjoy a iced cold brew at home, or I can make some of the sweeter drinks that do best with the strong brew this produces.

    Easy to assemble. Easy to clean. No mess. No potential mold growth spots I have found. No leaks so far. so fast and easy to brew, and I love that I can simply place the brew container on top of the carafe and walk away while it slowly drips, as it’s supposed to for a cold brew.
