   During the first month the item worked fairly well (Used it maybe 4 times max during month 1). As time progressed I noticed coffee grounds would be filtered through the brewing process landing in my cup. After a solid 7-8 months of using this product on a seldom basis my KCUPS would crush (resulting in wasted kcup). Upon the 8th month the coffee maker stopped working completely. It would not even brew the coffee just made a terribly loud noise and had steam. This is terrible because I do not use the maker daily. I highly do not recommend this for frequent coffee drinkers at all!

   I bought this to replace an automatic drip coffee maker. I’m only one person so I didn’t need that big of a machine. I required one that would fit my travel mug. I’ve only had it for about a month, but so far it works great. It takes about four minutes to make a 14 ounce cup. In the afternoon I drink tea and this works great to just heat up water for that. I’m going on a trip this weekend and because it’s so nice and small I’m gonna pack it up and take it with me. I think it’s worth the price that I paid but I will update my findings in a few more months to see if I still love it down the road.

   My wife and I drink a lot of coffee, starting with a pot of drip coffee in the morning followed by individual cups throughout the day. We now have 4 different K-Cup machines and I decided that comparing them would be a great way to review all 4. The photo below shows them in order of overall size: 1. Proctor Silex 49969, 2. Mr. Coffee SC100, 3. Kuerig K10, and 4. Kuerig K40. All 4 machines were broken in properly and cleaned prior to this comparison test. Each was filled with tap water, matching coffee cups were used, and the same 4 K-Cups (Gevalia Columbian) were used in each machine. Gevalia Columbian isn’t my favorite (by far!) but we had a box to use up so I wanted to see if they tasted better or worse in any of the units. Besides all having an auto shut-off, the main constant in these coffee makers was the taste. All produced a VERY similar cup of coffee, not surprising since all they do is run hot water through the same brand of K-Cup. However, the following observations of each unit may help in your purchase decision: 1. Kuerig K40 Price $104.99 Weight 13 lbs Cord length 37″ Dimensions 13″h X 9″w X !2.2″d Cord 37″ Avg rating 4.4 stars (1482 reviews) This is the grand-daddy of the bunch and we have used it for about 3 years. It’s still working perfectly! It’s a bulky unit and at 13 lbs. also the heaviest. You will notice by looking at the picture (your far right) that I left the top up to show that it needs 18″ of height clearance in order to open and close it. This machine has the advantage of holding 48 oz. of water in the tank, allowing you to brew 5-6 cups before having to refill it. You can also choose among three different cup sizes/coffee strengths to meet your preference. The last consideration is that it has a 37″ cord, a distinct advantage in where it can be placed. This unit has been replaced with the K55. Based upon its durability and flexibility, you might want to seek out this older model. 2. Kuerig K10 Price $77.98 Weight 8 lbs Cord length 36″ Dimensions 11″h X 8″w X 11″d Avg rating 4.1 stars (778 reviews) We bought this unit about a year ago for our guest room. It has had no hiccups and is completely dependable and very easy to use. At 8.8 lbs. it is the second heaviest and the height when the top is open extends from 11″ to 13″. This machine only holds enough water to make one cup at a time and no clean-up is necessary. However, be careful to only put in the amount of water that your coffee cup will hold because this machine will process it all and it will overflow if too much water is added.. This is a well-built unit that is simple to use and is the second most expensive. 3. Mr. Coffee SC100 Price $59.99 Weight 4 lbs. Cord length 24″ Dimensions 13″h X 5″w X 10″d Avg rating 4.4 stars (20 reviews) This machine is a joint effort between Mr. Coffee and Kuerig, employing the Kuerig brewing system. Like the two prior Kuerig coffeemakers the SC100 can be adjusted to fill large to-go cups in addition to normal sized cups. It has a very simple and clean design and has the second smallest footprint. The shorter 24″ cord might affect your placement decision but no extra height clearance is needed since the top doesn’t have to be raised in order to use this machine. In the picture below it is the third unit from your right. It may be the best looking unit with its stainless steel trim. We have only owned it for a short period of time but it appears durable and is very simple to use with no clean-up required. 4. Proctor Silex 49969 Price $29.99 Weight 3lbs. Cord length 25″ Dimensions 13″h X 5.6″w X 9.5″d Avg rating 4.2 stars (12 reviews) This Proctor Silex machine (at the far left in the photo below) is the cheapest unit by far ($30.00) , weighs the least, and has the smallest footprint. Considering that the top of this unit doesn’t have to be raised to operate it, it will fit just about anywhere the 25″ cord will reach. It does have a water capacity of 14oz., auto shut-off, and can also be adjusted to fill large to-go cups. However this unit has more moving pieces and it’s quite a bit more difficult to master. The other three machines clean up by just throwing the used K-Cups away but this one can involve more effort to get it ready for the next brewing. So what is my take on this comparison? If you can find one of the old Kuerig K40 machines at $80.00 or so, pick it up. It is durable, consistent, simple to use, has flexibility as far as coffee strength and cup size, holds 48 oz. of water, and only has to be descaled once in a blue moon. You’ll know when it needs it by the taste. I can’t think of any advantages that the three newer models offer that would put them in contention although the Mr. Coffee SC100 (developed with Kuerig) would be a close runner-up because of the $59.99 price point and the small footprint.    This package looked open inside of the plastic bag that was in the box. Upon opening it, it had no tape to secure loose parts and it looked as though it had been re-packaged. There was also no manual. The item is being returned which is a bother because I was sent an item that didn’t even have power because I did plug it in and try it anyway. I hope no one else purchases this item.

   This is a smaller k-cup machine that works great. It can handle k-cups or ground coffee, and fits in smaller cabinets at my work. I have the Hamilton Beach Flex Brew at home, so I’m familiar with pushing the handle down before brewing, but it’s nice that they have stickers all over this little machine (in case co-workers have no idea how to use a coffee machine).

   So far this has not worked with K-cups. It works great with ground coffee, but the K-cups I used didn’t fit. They would get all smashed up and the water would not go through the K-cups. Still trying to find the right K-cups to make it work. So disappointed as I bought it for the office and K-cups are easiest to store and clean up.

   I have had this little machine for three days. First off, I was excited to get it for my classroom. It is convenient and looked durable. I made the first cup and noticed grinds were everywhere! I thought, may it was just the way I put it in. I adjusted it, the same. I didn’t worry anymore with it on a Friday afternoon. This morning I tried two cups and had the same issues again. I promptly contacted customer service who informed that this is an ongoing issue and has issued me a refund. This is ridiculous. Do not buy this product. Unless that is, you enjoy the feeling of grinds between your teeth.

   One of the worst designed products I’ve had the misfortune to purchase, and, sadly NOT from coffeemakers.us.com.com. It was an $39.99 out-of-town grocery store purchase, so return is not really an option. I threw it in the garbage yesterday when I failed after multiple failed attempts to seat a Keurig cup in the holder, which is supposed to cut a hole or slot into the edge of the cup’s bottom. Hit or miss, but mostly miss. I’ve had water flood the counter when I forgot to heed the admonition to “PRESS DOWN” (see picture), an act intended to pop the hole into the top. I’ve had a good teaspoon of grounds empty into my mug when the bottom slicer made too big a slice or hole in the bottom of the Keurig cup. I’ve successfully made maybe 5 cups of coffee in this thing. I just received a new Keurig K-Mini from coffeemakers.us.com.com. A dream to use.

    I’ll experienced the issue with the certain K-Cups having issues. In my case it was with Double Donut Cups. The plastic is very thick and the metal point that spears the bottom of the K-Cup doesn’t cut through the cup, crushing it. But I’ve had no issues with Maxwell House, Donut Ship, Victor Allen, Solimo and others. I haven’t tried using more than 14 ounces, I don’t have any cups that large. From other reviews that is apparently a bad idea. I’ve been using this machine for over two years without issue, other than with Double Donut cups. I figured out how to use those cups also, so I didn’t have to waste any coffee. You can push the cup in, pull up a little and twist slightly, then push in again. That will generally work for the thick plastic K-cups. I’ve only cleaned it twice, with vinegar the same as you would a normal coffee maker. I haven’t noticed any major, or minor loss of flavor or function. I paid significantly less than the current selling price. But even at the current price it’s worth the price.

    I gave it 2 stars because im too nice to give it 1. I just purchased this machine and received it yesterday. I made my first cup of coffee, and am utterly disappointed in this product. I had to use 2 k cups in order to get just a half cup of coffee. 6 ounces of coffee from two 14 oz water brews. I understand this is a cheaper coffee maker but at least give me a full “cup” with one k cup. Giving it one more chance after talking/email with tech support and will revisit this review or return the unit. EDIT! I gave it 3 stars after giving it 1 more chance. I decided to use a generic brand k cup instead of the dunkin donuts. It gave me a full cup of coffee.(see 2nd picture, left is DD and right is jewel brand with same amount of water added to machine). So this model isnt really able to use the more expensive brands. I may experiment further.

    I don’t need a whole pot of coffee, so I decided a single serve would do. This product is quite noisy and slower than Kurig. Sometimes it over heats even if you wait longer than the directions state between cups. When it over heats it will ruin the coffee insert, spray water or makes sputtering noises and/or do nothing. This is quite frustrating. I would not buy this brand again.
    1/2017 Now that it as been in use for almost 5 months when you add water it just pours out everywhere. It does not make coffee, just floods the counter. Such junk!!!

    This is a very poorly made product for the price. It is completely plastic, much of which is ridiculously flimsy and just doesn’t look safe enough to even plug in. I ran initial water through The unit to clear the mfg taste and after 3 runs my cup filled at 3 different levels and quite a noticeable distance between levels??? The smaller cup adapter is so flimsy I expect the cup to slip off during the brew process. I say this because during start up, the cup was moving on the lower tray. Don’t bother. You can get MUCH better quality for little money more.

    I bought this after my 2nd Keurig went bad. I wanted something with a small foot print, (check) that will allow me to use either K cups or ground coffee, (check) and would allow me to brew up to 14 ounces. check! So far I really like this unit. It is easy to use and makes piping hot coffee. Don’t overfill the basket with coffee grinds and it will work great.

    **Update 09/30/22 3 years later and it still works great. I clean it with white vinegar once a month. I highly recommend thatyo don’t overfill the coffee grounds cup, or you will have a mess on your counter, and grounds inyour coffee.

    Using Kcup compatible pods, works flawlessly. I never had issues yet.
    if using a plastic pod, you have to firmly press to allow the bottom steel puncture to peel off the side of the plastic to allow water flow. Strange design but it works.
    When using your own grinds, i had many attempts fail while i learned to use it properly.
    Do not use too much grinds, it will cause water to overflow and make an awful mess of grinds all over your counter top. I have to put the Coffee Maker inside a steel pan so that if it does fail, the water will not damage my wood counter top.
    That being said, do not put too much grinds, Super find grinds will result is a lot of mud at the bottom of your cup, i guess some call it “European style” which i got used to, i just don’t drink the last 1/2 bottom of my cup.

    Overall i’m very impressed with the ability of this unit, with the interchangeable parts for own grinds / kcup style pods for the price. If it were to break i would buy again.

    Do not even bother with this machine. I purchased it August 9, 2017. It worked fine for two weeks. Then it started making a horrible noise, and the water stays in the resevoir except for a couple of tablespoons. My guess is that the pump broke.

    August 23, 2017 – Follow up. I ran vinegar through the machine, and that cleared up whatever was wrong– it may have been the piercing nozzle, but I did this before seeing the manufacturer’s comment advising me to use the paperclip. I appreciate the manufacturer’s responsiveness, and the machine has been working fine since I flushed it. This coffee maker exactly suits my needs – easily switching between k-cups and loose grounds, and it is the only single-serve I know that makes 12-14oz; others that I could find were limited to 9oz. I’ve revised to four stars, without the cloggin problem, it would have been a 5.
