   I bought this for $10, and as I’m writing this, the price is $50… so keep that in mind.
   The coffee press is made out of this hard plastic and not glass. However, it seems like a decently built product other than the thermometer, which is quite flimsy. The filtration won’t be the same compared to a filter paper, as it can’t filter fine particles.
   That being said, for $10 it’s definitely worth it.

   It works as described.
   Just one thing – it leaks sometimes… you need to REALLY twist the bottom tight and REALLY effortfully twist the bottom off when cleaning it. Otherwise, it works fine and is easy to clean.

   The thermometer tells you when the water is just right for the perfect brew… so either the thermometer is WRONG, the press is not built to withstand the heat, or they didn’t glue the magnet on right, because the magnet fell right off after the first use due to, I’m guessing, getting too hot and loosening the glue enough to allow it to come off….. definitely going to try to return

   The magnetic slug that holds the hour glass in place came out after about 2 days. We weren’t using the hour glass anyway, as we make coffee while doing other things, and use a phone timer instead.
   The Rite Press makes great coffee (as expected from a French press), but then it’s so easy to clean out. Just unscrew the bottom and dump the grounds from there.
   Be careful that you don’t cross-thread when you put the bottom back on, and screw it on tightly. Once I didn’t get it tight enough and drops of water started leaking out. I was able to just tighten it then and all was fine.

   This is great for the price and convince of plastic and not glass. The one problem I had was that as soon as I poured hot water into to it the first time the disc for the magnetic timer to attach to came off. Now I use the timer on the fridge. Otherwise I love this product.

   I was hesitant to buy one of these given the reviews, but I really liked the concept. The idea that this company figured out the exact temp and timing it takes to make a good cup of coffee sounded promising to an amateur like myself. Unfortunately choosing plastic as the container and clearly not enough packing material brings me to this review and the return of the product. To be fair, I never used it since it arrived broken, but I can tell you that this material is not ideal for brewing extremely hot liquids. A metal container is a much better option. I would go elsewhere for a nice cup of French Press Coffee.
