   We spent two weeks trying to rid this coffee maker of a very, very strong plastic smell. We tried multiple methods (vinegar, alcohol, baking soda, etc) and it just won’t go away. Tried making coffee a couple of times and it was really, really chemical/plastic smelling and tasting. Really gross. Returned.

   What’s not to like? The Starfrit coffee maker is quite inexpensive. It makes a nice, piping-hot pot of coffee, with adjustable brew strength. Great coffee maker for the money.

   Gave this 5 star rating for all categories and overall. The functions do what they are supposed to, including extra strength coffee does come out strong. The removable grounds basket is easy to clean and saves on buying filters and extra trash. It is easy to use, and looks great on my counter. It is a very attractive stainless steel machine that leaves out the bulkiness you see in a Mr. Coffee, but will still brew up to 12 cups at a time. I usually brew 4 cups each day as I live alone, and it does very well for small brewing as well. As prior military, I appreciate the military time display. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a great coffee maker.

   This machine utilizes cone Filters for maximum flavour extraction. A reusable permanent filter is included or you can opt to use Melita #4 paper filters. The machine has a programmable clock interface so you can schedule a brew to be automatically ready when you like it. The only drawback for some is the 24hr clock that some people have trouble understanding. It’s a great machine for the money👍no doubt.

   This is the worst money I have ever spent. I have several products by your company which have been fine so thought this would be too. It is junk. I can put water in the make 6 cups and only 4 cups are brewed (and obviously too strong!). I can make 8 cups and only 6 come out. Where is the rest of the water going? To steam and coming out the top? This morning to brew 6 cups (and only 4 came out) it too 40 minutes! What is the point? This machine is ridiculous and not worth the $50 + tax. Fortunately I have a Delonghi espresso machine I can make other coffee with. This is junk or never worked properly. Bought on coffeemakers.us.com 3 months ago. Starfrit has not responded with any help.

   I had my doubts before getting this machine for sure looking at its price. I used to have a Kitchen Aid which I paid around $100 for. All clouds cleared as I had my first mug. The coffee tastes the same and as hot as it should be. I use grinded Tim Hortons Original coffee and make 2 mugs a morning and the taste and heat is always consistent. To make cleaning easy, rather then using its own filter alone, I use filters I got from the grocery store and dispose the coffee easily. If you like darker coffee make sure you press the intensity button before brewing. I highly recommend this product as it does the job well.

    I really like this so far. It’s really easy to clean (yay dishwasher safe stuff!) and makes making coffee really easy (love the setting the coffee maker to start in the morning so I don’t have to focus as much then – I am not a morning person but the machine makes it easier. The clock using military time took a bit of getting used to but other than that I really like it.

    UPDATED REVIEW. I purchased this coffee pot a couple months after my mom purchased and loved it. Several months ago she said the machine would leak water all over her counter. I thought maybe it was because she is semi-handicapped and possibly not getting the water into the machine. Last week, ours started doing the same thing. It appears water leaks from the bottom. Husband put a cookie sheet underneath and we tested it. It would fill the small cookie sheet with nearly 1/4″ of water. As much as loved the simplicity of this machine, leaking water and having the plugged in machine standing in sitting water was not our idea of safety.

    Nice coffee pot. Took awhile to get used to the 24 hour clock.

    Good coffee maker. No bells or whistles. Bought it becasue of the good reviews. “Anti-drip” feature does not always work – drips coffee about half the time onto the hot plate when getting a cup mid brew. The hot-plate gets really hot and if there is less than a cup of coffee it heats it until it turns into a “thick” coffee. Good coffee maker overall, especially if you plan to drink your coffee right away and not let it sit for more than 45 minutes. Auto shut off is nice. Worth the money.
