   Get the moccamaster without the stupid insulated glass carafe. Mine was leaking between the stainless steel and the glass liner under normal usage, so every time you poured out of the spigot the bottom would drip all over your pants. Went to try and fix it and I broke the glass liner which wasn’t covered under warranty. I had to buy a new carafe with my own money and the replacement one they shipped with 0 padding and it arrived with the glass liner busted too. Avoid this stupid fragile carafe and get the glass one with the resistance heater. I had to buy the insulated one to comply with workplace safety policies.

   This coffee maker makes excellent tasting coffee. Brews coffee quickly, and quickly. Thermal carafe keeps coffee hot for a long time, without any noticeable difference to taste. I’m a coffee snob, and possibly you are to if you’re looking at this coffee maker. I’ve been a pour over brewer for years, and this machine compares in duplicating the taste.

   We bought our Technivorm Moccamaster in November 2019. We were 75% through our remodel. I had a coffee nook/drink station. The height of the floating shelves were not determined until the Moccamater had arrived so that I would have room to pour water in the top without moving the machine. I loved my Technivorm! Best cup of coffee! If I were to rate the brewer I would give it 5 stars. About 6 months ago something changed. One day the coffee was perfect, the next day it tasted like chemicals. I brewed several cups. Over the next week my husband bought 5 different coffees hoping the problem was the coffee. Every single one tasted like a chemical burn. Something was up with the heating element. My husband then made a call to customer service. They didn’t listen very well and told him, how to clean the craft and descale the brewer. Both had been done before the call and again after. Still horrible coffee. Around the 3rd call my husband had to argue and insist we wanted to start the return process. He spent $80 on postage to mail the box. $80!!! Which he did because he knew how much I loved my moccamaster! 2 weeks later we received our moccamaster back. The note said that it had been tested and works fine. I was furious. My husband plugged it back in. Made a pot of coffee and yuck! He then followed all of the cleaning instructions one more time with no improvement. He reached out to Technivorm one more time to see how they determined it was fine. They only ran water through it. Never coffee. Said it was to objective. My Moccamaster sits in its box. We bought a $40 coffee pot 🙁 to make do while it was sorted out. I really want my Moccamaster back but I am reluctant to support a company with such poor customer relations. I am hunting for another brewer that makes as good as coffee.

   This replaced an older Technivorm 8 cup that I bought used many years ago. It, like the one it replaced, makes delicious hot coffee fast. However, it runs even quieter and the updated stainless steel carafe keeps coffee hot even longer. It’s well built with no built-in digital timer. A cheap analog, digital or smart plug solves that. It’s durable but also serviceable for those who worry about longevity and throwaway gadgets that end up in a landfill.

   Worth it! I am pretty picky about my coffee, and I have been through every kind of coffee maker. This really makes the perfect cup of coffee. I am so glad I finally gave in to buying this one, as I have had my eye on it for some time. I am also used to having a timer set on my coffee so it is ready when I wake up, and I was a little concerned about not having one, but this machine is so quick that it doesn’t bother me at all to have to turn it on when I wake up. A problem I have come across with every other coffee maker, is a burnt taste from heating to high or the warmer plate causing a burnt taste…this machine heats it perfectly and I love not having the warming plate.

   We’ve been using our Moccamaster now for about a month, and absolutely love it. Purchased this one because it was recommended by America’s Test Kitchen – who we have lots of respect for due to the rigor they put into their review process. This brewer makes the smoothest and richest taking cup of coffee you could want. There’s several YouTube video’s on this model if you want to explore more.) But keep in mind that you’ll need to have a good burr grinder to get the grind just right. For that I’d recommend the Krups GX5000 Professional Electric Coffee Burr Grinder, which lets you control the grind setting to wherever you like it best. Total costs, as of this writing, for this version of the Moccamaster (KBGT), plus the Krups GX5000 Professional Electric Coffee Burr Grinder (with grind size and cup selection) is about $375. If you don’t currently own either item you may be asking yourself “Is this worth it?”. To help answer that here’s some math you may find helpful. My local Starbuck’s charges $2.25 for a 16 oz. Grande. If I buy a pound of whole bean coffee from them, I can make a 16 oz Grande at home (and put it in my thermal travel mug) for $1.17. ($14.95 for 1 lb. of beans; it takes 1.25 oz. weight of ground beans to make a 16 oz. cup of coffee = 12.8 16 oz. Grandes per pound of coffee). That’s a savings of $1.08 per cup, or a whopping 48% below their retail price. (Prices could be even higher/savings greater depending on where you live; $2.95 in NYC?). Drinking 1 cup per day you’ll break even on the $375 investment in about a year (346 days), or faster if you drink more than 1 retail cup per day. In addition to eventually saving money, and drinking the variety of coffee you personally enjoy the most, your coffee will taste even better, you’ll avoid the lines at Starbuck’s (or wherever) and save money to boot. Not to mention that when you entertain discriminating guests you’ll be able to provide them with a delicious cup of coffee, even if they’re coffee snobs. Update: We’ve been using this coffee brewer for 5 months, and it is making great coffee. The one complaint I have is the discoloration that has occurred on the basket cap, apparently caused by the hot steam rising from the grounds during brewing. Wondering if the coloring ended up in our coffee? Given the price point on this brewer believe a better quality basket cover isn’t too much to ask.

   ‘If it ain’t Dutch it’s not much’. I have heard about this Moccasmaster and the rave reviews. well let me tell you it’s true. They have it down to a science. They have been making this coffee maker in Holland for 56 years. Trust me the Dutch know their Coffee. Right out of the box you can tell it’s well made. After a quick assembly of a few parts you are on you way. Made a full pot of a medium Roast Following the guide. It’s cool that the topper with the tube does not allow air in the thermo pot when filling so the coffee does not oxidize. When done replace with the the stopper and the coffee stayed steaming hot for over 4 hours and was still warm after 8. The coffee was outstanding. It was an Italian roast made here in Seattle. Clean up was easy. I will update this in a few weeks to see how we are Rolling. As a side note we were using the kierig cups to make coffee for the past few years and were lulled into thinking it was good coffee…..Also the environmental pollution from all those empty pods to the landfill was not good either. So it looks like a Win, Win, Win Update: 1 1/2 years and it has not skipped a beat. Still a great cup of coffee but to continue to get this you should clean the pot and the coffee maker every 4-6 months with Urnex Cafiza and Dezcal. Available on coffeemakers.us.com. You can watch a video on YouTube. It’s easy. There is though one caveat. When we go out it’s hard to beat the coffee we make at home. It actually saves us money from going to Starbucks so I guess we can add value to the list of great things buying this can do. LOL

    Bought this through coffeemakers.us.com Warehouse Deals — they disclosed that pieces were missing which I was fine with. When the Moccamaster arrived one of the pieces was broken, making the product unusable. I was able to buy the part from the manufacturer, but coffeemakers.us.com refused to refund the $33 for the broken part. I get that I was getting a returned item. I just expected coffeemakers.us.com to stand behind their product description. Sadly disappointed. (Moccamaster itself is an awesome product!!)

    Allow me to begin by emphasizing that the choice of coffee maker you make is not limited to the quality of the beans alone. It has a significant impact on the taste of your coffee. And I can confidently say that after conducting a blind taste test, I have become a firm believer in this notion!

    When it comes to the flavor of your coffee, the coffee maker you select plays a vital role. To prove this to myself, I conducted a blind taste test using three different machines: the Technivorm Moccamaster, Bonavita, and my girlfriend’s Black and Decker.

    I purchased the Technivorm Moccamaster as a replacement for another well-known brand, the Bonavita BV1900TS 8-Cup Carafe Coffee Brewer, which I initially acquired at the end of 2018. Unfortunately, the Bonavita failed after just one year, and the courtesy replacement I received started experiencing intermittent issues after three years. It was clear that an upgrade was in order.

    Luckily, I was able to seize the opportunity and purchase the Technivorm Moccamaster during an coffeemakers.us.com Prime Day deal. At the time of this review, it cost approximately $50 more than the Bonavita. I was seeking a coffee maker that not only produced exceptional coffee but also offered reliable performance for its price. Given my previous experiences with two Bonavita machines in just four years, the Technivorm’s five-year warranty provided me with the reassurance of its quality.

    The real question, when investing in a higher-priced unit like this, is whether it truly delivers a noticeable difference compared to less expensive alternatives. I can confidently affirm that the difference is nothing short of astonishing.

    Although the Bonavita consistently brewed great coffee, it wasn’t until I sampled coffee from my girlfriend’s Black and Decker that I truly grasped the stark contrast in taste. It was a difference between delight and disgust. This made me wonder if the Technivorm could live up to its renowned name.

    To find out, we conducted a blind taste test with equal amounts of water and coffee grounds. Each cup was numbered, and we sampled them one by one. The Technivorm emerged as the clear winner, with the Bonavita coming in a close second, showcasing its ability to produce excellent coffee. On the other hand, the Black and Decker unit produced disappointing results.

    The Technivorm not only finished brewing approximately 30% faster than the Bonavita runner-up, but it was also quieter, emitted minimal steam, and did not fill the basket with hot water like the Bonavita did. This likely explains why the American Kitchen review I watched mentioned that the Technivorm maintained the right brewing temperature for about 70% of the brew cycle. As a result, the coffee from the Technivorm was slightly hotter from the carafe and exhibited a notable smoothness in flavor. Although the disparity was not as pronounced as with the cheaper machine, there was an undeniable finesse to the taste of the Technivorm that became apparent in a direct side-by-side comparison of black coffee.

    Speaking of the unit itself, I appreciate its unique appearance on my countertop. If I were to express a personal preference, I would love to see a glass water reservoir, but that’s merely a minor inclination. The unit is straightforward to use, just like the Bonavita, featuring a no-nonsense one-button start without unnecessary features like timers. It simply excels at brewing great coffee!

    My girlfriend made an astute observation regarding the Technivorm’s power switch, which remains in the on position and is triggered to turn on when the carafe is placed in the holder (thanks to a pressure switch). This design feature allows you to plug the Technivorm into a secondary timer and have it prepare your morning brew—a convenience that was not possible with the Bonavita.

    In conclusion, I am confident that you will love this coffee machine. Although it is still relatively new in my possession, I’ll need to give it a year before updating my review. However, based on my current experience, I am thoroughly impressed!

    I have been looking at expensive coffee makers for awhile and just didn’t know which one I wanted. My sister in law made me coffee from a Mochamaster and I was blown away! When I saw a Great Price on coffeemakers.us.com before Christmas, I jumped on it. Only frustration I have had is finding the right beans with the roast that I like. I like a dark roast, smokey. Then finding the right water to bean ratio has been a work in progress. I am working on it and am confident I will get it right! I am very glad I bought this since I’m convinced that no other coffeemaker can come close the quality of this machine. Plus! It just looks so cool!!

    Extremely cheap plastic parts and poor design. Bought for Christmas 2022 after watching great reviews on the internet. Have owned only two months! In first picture there is a broken plastic tab on the left that holds down the coffee ground filter basket. This allows a spring loaded valve under it to open. Without it, I’m having to use weights from exercise equipment (picture 2) to hold down the filter ground basket and open the spring loaded valve so coffee will drain into the carafe and not flood my counter top. Even cheap coffee makers I’ve had in the past did not break after only two months. Do Not Purchase This Product!

    I ordered a Moocamaster on December 2. coffeemakers.us.com had a great price. Thanks coffeemakers.us.com. I received the machine on Friday. The picture shows the condition. It was packed okay. The fault is that the screws were overtighted. I contacted moccamaster. No response. I contacted coffeemakers.us.com and they immediately took steps to help resolve the issue. When moccamaster did reply (days later) I was told that if I purchased it new-return it. If not they will sell me the part. The problem was construction of the “world’s best coffee maker “. I’m old, disabled and to package back up and drive something across town isn’t easy. The emails I received showed no concern for the experience I was having with an expensive product. Every cup of coffee has a twinge of bitterness now. But I want to be clear, coffeemakers.us.com was quick and accommodating, which I appreciate.

    Updated Review: I have literally never disliked a kitchen appliance more. (And that includes the ninja blender that storing the parts was pretty much an invitation to the emergency room, and the light saber, handheld blender that put pieces of paint in my smoothies.) No matter what I do this coffee pot is going to randomly screw up a pot of coffee and or the entire kitchen counter, and part of the floor in the process. It is forever getting clogged no matter how often I clean it or what procedure I follow when making a pot of coffee. It has wasted so much coffee and time. The design is unique and the carafe keeps the coffee warm but pouring from it does not achieve a laminar flow. The coffee would pour better with a small spout on the rim instead of complete circle. The amount of plastic and the ridiculous footplate are incredibly disappointing. When I put it together, I thought this can’t really be part of a $300 coffee maker, but sadly I was wrong. Additionally, if you don’t push the filter all the way down into the basket, it will overflow and make a huge mess. If this was a $100 machine, I probably still would have given it a 5-Star review because it does make good coffee but at $300 it’s, at best, a 4.

    As an avid coffee drinker, I was excited to try out the Moccamaster and see what all the fuss was about. At first, I was impressed with the quality of the construction and the sleek design of the pot. Brewing my first cup of coffee was a joy, and the coffee tasted rich and flavorful. However, after using the Moccamaster for a few weeks, I noticed that it had a tendency to spill over and make a mess on my counter. This happened at least 20 times, and I found it incredibly frustrating. When the pot didn’t explode and leave a huge mess, it did make good coffee, but the risk of a spill wasn’t worth the high price tag. Overall, while the Moccamaster is capable of making great coffee, I can’t recommend it due to the potential for spills and messes. If you’re willing to take the risk, it may be a good choice for those who prioritize high-quality coffee, but for me, the hassle and frustration outweighed the benefits. I would suggest exploring other brands or models that are less prone to spills and easier to use.

    After hours and hours of research I finally decided to go ahead and get a ‘highly recommened’ coffee maker and step away from Mr Coffee (which has been working just fine and still does). I watched all the UTubes, read all the data, and then spent $350 on this item. It was a joke. ALL of the water leaked out of the cone support arm befor it ever even made it to the brewing cone. All. Not a teeny little drip, all of it. Boy oh boy. This just falls in line with so very much of what I get from coffeemakers.us.com. “MOST” of the items I buy are damaged, faulty, or misrepresented. Hands – On buying is so way much more better! Anywayz, sending it back tomorrow, and I anticipate a lot of anguish in getting a refund, time will tell . . .     A truly great coffee machine. I’ve had mine several months and am still in love with it. Makes consistently delicious coffee; works right out of the box. You don’t really even have to read the directions. I did because I was so excited to have it. lol. I love the design – both form and function. I bought this mostly for health reasons. I’ll go there and circle back to COFFEE. So, most coffee makers allow the hot water to interface with all the plastic components. Hear me out. It’s common sense. Heat increases the leaching of bisphenols (BPA, BPS, BPF), phthalates, dioxins, and other toxins (microplastics) that get stored in us. Not good. Estrogenic, toxic > crushes hormones, ED, estrogen dominance, liver/kidney damage, neurotoxicity, immune suppression, cardiovascular damage, microbiome damage/leaky gut, INFERTILITY, prostate/testicular/breast CANCER. This device uses BPA-free plastics where any surfaces interface with water/coffee. Ok. Let’s talk coffee. I LOVE this machine. Ugh. So great. I mean, yes, as with any brewing device, you have to get the grind size right. With most commercially ground coffee’s, you’re good to go. Just get the amount of coffee right. I’ll come back to that. I buy specialty whole beans and grind them. Too course: weak and under-extracted. Too fine: over-extracted and bitter. Again, critical to brewing coffee: you have to get the water-to-bean ratio right. Sorry. Some people just don’t know this stuff. If you like strong coffee and are grinding your beans, I’d chatGPT what that ratio should be. Buy a cheap digital scale on coffeemakers.us.com. I measure to get the correct dose based on what I like. But aside from all of that, this machine brews to perfection. The water gets heated adequately to extract whereas with a Mr Coffee type machines, not so much. The word I’d use to describe the coffee I get from the Moccamaster: SMOOTH. More words: Delicious. Mind-blowing. My wife loves it as much as me. I don’t see how you can go wrong with this machine. Oh, and get the one with the carafe! (this model, duh) Why? Coffee sitting on any burner BURNS in some ridiculously short amount of time. You don’t want that. Think convenient store coffee. No. So for that reason, I love the carafe. Keeps the coffee warm. Comes with a different lid for that. So they provide a lid that allows the coffee to brew and drip into the carafe and yes, you can pour perfectly from that after it brews. But if you wanna keep it hot for long, you use their other cap. You just tighten and un-tighten to pour. Can’t go wrong. Hand assembled. Great warranty. Looks cool in your kitchen. People swoon 🙂 You will swoon.

    We bought this machine because our kids bought one while living in the Netherlands. It brewed such good tasting, clean cup of coffee. It brews a 10 cup pot within 5 minutes. It has a great bloom and no spilage! It also looks good on our counter! It’s a bit pricey but of you are fussy about your coffee, don’t go to Starbucks, but this machine!     Look, most of us are half-asleep when we’re making the first pot of the day (or, in my case, the only pot), so we need the coffeemaker to be simple and quick. The rectangular water tank lid is detached and sometimes makes for clumsy fumbling while trying to replace it after a fill. The coffee basket lid, also detached, while round and easy to use, is made of a material that turns white where the heated water comes in contact with it (see pics). Another detached piece, the carafe platform, disconnects itself from the unit when trying to slide the whole thing across your countertop. Perhaps worst of all, none of the pieces may be cleaned in a dishwasher. For $300+ I expect a better design, materials that don’t discolor from normal use and the ability to make my daily pot quickly and without the anxiety of fumbling with plastic parts. I gave this thing 2 years before I wrote about it–I think I’ve given it a fair amount of time before I made a judgment. In short, I do not recommend at all until design elements are refined, materials don’t discolor and washable parts may be cleaned in a dishwasher. Technivorm should worry less about product placement on a popular TV show (Will & Grace) and more on R&D.

    They do not honor 5 year warranty. Short story – purchased 18months ago, although we closely followed all instructions for care and cleaning (we take our coffee seriously), we noticed that green mold had developed all over the machine- after 2 hours of cleaning it was clear that the mold was originating from inside the machine. Contacted warranty support, after explaining the issue, requesting help, speaking with 2 people see response from Courtney the Customer Support Manager: “the photos you’ve provided, the discoloration on your Float Switch appears to be normal organic material present in the content of your water (even filtered or bottled water).” They haven’t responded to my follow on emails. Pictures are of the remaining mold – after 2 hours using descaler, then cleaning powder then vinegar $350 dollars for unusable machine awesome

    Warranty is very misleading as it only covers internal parts, not the cheap plastic parts that are needed to brew and clearly designed to break so the company can sell you replacement parts and then charge you for shipping.     Purchased because of the easy-to-access and clean cold water reservoir. Makes great coffee. Very smooth and tasty. Update: I would recommend getting the KBT model instead of the KBGT. The KBGT has a feature that prevents the machine from dripping coffee when the carafe is pulled away. The machine operates correctly when the carafe is pressed up against the “automatic drip-stop bracket”. However, if the machine is canted slightly up because it is not seated exactly in the footplate notch, the bracket will not engage the release on the drip basket. This will then prevent the drip-stop from allowing the flow of coffee into the carafe. Coffee and grounds will then overflow the basket. This issue could be solved by removing the footplate altogether but the carafe will not engage the bracket at all if it is not in place. This problem has caused me to overflow the machine twice now while brewing. Overall a good machine with a serious design flaw. If you do get it, be very careful when you move the machine around on your countertop to clean or brew. If the base is not seated in the footplate you will have a big mess on your hands!

    Replaced our very old KitchenAid coffee maker with this brewer. This unit is extremely well made, 4-6 minute brew time, quiet, auto shut off feature and, most of all, delivers excellent coffee quality. Carafe keeps the coffee hot and fresh for a long time. There is a special brewing top which enhances the taste of the coffee with its design. Highly recommend this product.

    UPDATED: Second part failure within a year of purchase, now the carafe is leaking and it also isn’t covered under warranty. I find it odd that the two parts that have failed aren’t covered. Quality issues are making it hard for me to recommend this coffee maker. Yes, they sent me a “one time replacement” for both parts but made it clear it wasn’t under warranty. If they just included the carafe and basket in their warranty, I would be much more flexible to support the company and invest in a future purchase. I love the coffee maker and I’ve had it for 15 years. On my second now and this one has Quality issues where the coffee maker will leak if you try to fill a cup mid brew. I was told by Customer Service that certain model numbers fall within this quality range and I am currently on my second one and both leak. The company has sent me replacement Brew basket brackets and a brew basket and so far nothing has resolved the issue. I guess I will just keep returning the coffee makers until I get one that works. Note, it only leaks with a full 10-cup pot’s worth of wet heavy grounds, so you cannot check it with simply water alone.

    This product makes good coffee, but easily malfunctions (see photos). I make coffee the EXACT same way every morning, and sometimes I get this huge mess of hot water spilling everywhere (dangerous for my two kiddos for sure!) I’ve reached out to customer service twice via email with no reply. The inconsistency of the coffee maker maybe a result of the frail drip mechanism. (TINY piece of plastic at the bottom of the filter). The fact that it is inconsistent makes this coffeemaker a poor investment. Hopefully, they improve the engineering in the future. Until then, I do not recommend.

    We’ve had our technivorm moccamaster for about 2 years now and this thing makes a killer cup of coffee, and FAST. I love it. My only issue with it is that once every couple of months I have a disaster to clean up. The pot sometimes catches on the plastic implement that controls the flow from the basket in such a way that the machine dumps coffee and grounds all over my counter and onto the floor if I don’t catch it. I then spend a lot of time cleaning grounds from tiny crevices on the machine and it’s not what you want to do when you should be enjoying your first cup of the day. For an over $300 machine, I’d expect a better design and non-plastic pieces.

    The carafe with this is magical. Coffee stays acceptable levels of warmth all day. It’s smaller than my last coffee pot in counter space. I love it and would buy it ten times over but I don’t think I’ll need to.

    Too many parts, takes too long to assemble everything just to make coffee, and I’m not even sure the coffee is really any better. I think people want (need) to convince themselves that this magically makes superior coffee, especially after shelling out $300. I’d really think about whether maybe marginally better coffee is worth shelling out this kind of cash. Update – after less than one year of use, the two small tabs that hold the brew basket down broke off, rendering the coffee maker useless since the basket must be secured to disengage the auto-stop feature.     This machine knows it’s job, and does it better than anybody else. There’s a reason the Moccamaster is expensive and well worth it. Copper boiler with excellent temperature control gives 195-205 degree water to the coffee basket for a consistently smooth brew every time. Pair it with a good quality grinder and grind your beans just slightly coarser than most pre-ground coffees come from the store. This, combined with the quiet pulsing brew cycle provides an ideal steep time for nicely-controlled extraction. The thermal carafe is glass lined with a destratification tube for brewing, which is replaced by a standard cover for serving. Stays warm for a long time, but the coffee is so good you’ll finish the pot long before you find out how long that is.

    Very nice looking coffee maker. In order to keep the coffee maker from rocking, needed a 1/16 in shim. I will find out how the coffee tastes tomorrow morning. Cheers OK Brewed a couple pots of coffee and for the cost not overwhelmed with the results. Seems like the brewed coffee is just a bit cooler than a $39 Mr Coffee and for the money spent you would think a nice hot cup of coffee is possible. Not impressed with this product

    As advertised, the Technivorm makes great coffee. But, it’s a disaster for fit and function. For a $300 coffee maker, I’d expect more effort to be put into the way the thing actually works in the real world. I’ve had a number of coffee makers, and this design is absolutely terrible. I noticed early on that, if it wasn’t set up just right, it would spew coffee and grounds everywhere. After this had happened enough times, I finally gave up and bought the Oxo 9 cup to replace it. The problem may be specific to the “Auto Adjust Brew Basket”. That basket, in combination with the carafe button that theoretically stops the brew cycle, and the amazingly poor ‘footplate’ design really conspired to make for nervous mornings brewing coffee. First: The button that is supposed to stop the brew cycle when the carafe is removed got stuck often based on – wait for it – Having coffee on it!!! Yep – the button was easily jammed when a little bit of coffee got on it, and would stay retracted. I had to use tools to coax the button back out, and even then, it was stuck much of the time. Second: The ‘footplate’ is far from intuitive for install – the worst part of the design. And if it is installed just the least bit wrong (but of course looks correct), the carafe is mis-aligned. If you turn your back on it while brewing, it’ll flood you with coffee and grounds. This happened a bunch of times, resulting in groggy mornings cleaning up walls, floors, and counters. Finally – it may seem like a great idea to Technivorm, but the fact that the thing has so many pieces that you need to remove and replace just to make coffee seems poor to me: – Top to the reservoir – Top to the basket – The basket itself (better put it in right!) – The carafe. If this is combination isn’t precisely re-assembled (with a lot of margin for error in the sloppy design), then it means disaster. If you’re determined to get a Technivorm, don’t get the “Auto Adjust Brew Basket” model – you’ll regret it

    They do not honor 5 year warranty. Short story – purchased 18months ago, although we closely followed all instructions for care and cleaning (we take our coffee seriously), we noticed that green mold had developed all over the machine- after 2 hours of cleaning it was clear that the mold was originating from inside the machine. Contacted warranty support, after explaining the issue, requesting help, speaking with 2 people see response from Courtney the Customer Support Manager: “the photos you’ve provided, the discoloration on your Float Switch appears to be normal organic material present in the content of your water (even filtered or bottled water).” They haven’t responded to my follow on emails. Pictures are of the remaining mold – after 2 hours using descaler, then cleaning powder then vinegar $350 dollars for unusable machine awesome

    Update (7 months of daily use): We use this every day. A couple quick observations, first that the latest model of carafe we didn’t care for. Handle felt cheap, and the look just isn’t as fun as the original. There are however, benefits to the glass lining, so if you like the new one, that’s great. Also, I read several reviews that talk about overflowing baskets. We never had that issue, but make sure you crease the filters and get the proper grind size. I also read that people complain about how many parts are involved with daily use (basket, lid, water cover., etc.) and while I can understand the frustration, in the end it’s better to keep everything clean. So many machines that are easier to use, less fiddly, hide oils, grinds, and other contaminates in areas you really can’t ever clean. So it’s nice to have the ability to really take things off and deep clean. Finally, I can’t stress enough how using a smart plug with more advanced timing capabilities has really changed the way we prepare the night before and brew early in the morning. Definitely recommend that. Overall we are still very happy with it, and have done about 4 full descale and tabz cleaning sessions and it all comes out as new. Original Review: We use this every day, replacing an old worn out drip brewer from 10+ years ago. Figured it was time for an upgrade to a simpler machine that’ll last us many, many years to come. FYI, our machine came with the OLD carafe, not the new glass lined carafe shown in the photos. Pros: – Can be used with a smart plug for a far more advanced setup with scheduling. – Brews an excellent cup of coffee. If you can use a scale, do so. 69-71 grams of coffee for 1.25L of water is a good ratio. You can tweak to get a stronger or lighter brew with your grinds and extraction. – Easy to clean and maintain, descale every 100 batches or so depending on how hard your water is. – Urnex TABZ or CAFIZA work great for removing oils and stains in carafes. – Workflow is easy to manage whether you prep night before or setup in the morning. – Serviceable with Mochamaster offering most parts to replace by the user. – Latest model includes a smaller, right angle plug (US model) that makes countertop use much easier. – Polished silver really disappears if you have a lighter kitchen as we do, versus say, black, red, or stone grey. Cons: – If you need programmability, look elsewhere, or use a smart plug (which is arguably better anyway). – Lots of parts, but not over the top, just something to keep in mind. – Simple machine with no bells and whistles to adjust anything, but expect a Gold cup of coffee (SCAA rating) which arguably doesn’t need adjusting. – It’s pretty tall, but so are many machines now. So keep that in mind for under cabinet use. – Approved sticker (see photo) is lame. Hand applied and crooked which I guess gives it ‘character’?!? – Wish they had more color selection in this model.

    This review would have easily been a 5 star review except for one minor but very important detail. First of all, I’m going to say that this coffee maker makes a delicious cup of coffee, it’s easy enough to clean and it keeps the coffee hot. That being said, the thermal carafe will only keep hot coffee for about 45 minutes or so then it not as hot as I like it. Now for the reason it didn’t get 5 stars from me. The black handle that is attached to the carafe holds water underneath and, after washing and drying, it will eventually leave a small puddle on the countertop. When I contacted customer service about the problem, they advised that the casket of the handle attached to the carafe was NOT covered under the 5 year warranty because it’s considered a removable part. How they came to that conclusion is beyond me since it’s obviously not removable. The water which remains under the collar is susceptible to bacteria which I have no control over. MOCCAMASTER-GET THIS RIGHT. In my opinion it’s misleading when it comes to the 5 year warranty attached to it. Through no fault of mine, I have a defective item which by all indications and observations, should be covered under the warranty.
