   I had used these types of coffeemakers in Costa Rica when I was there for a month, and wanted to get this for a friend. It was packaged very nicely when it arrived, so it was great for a gift. She made some coffee in it for the two of us and loved it. It really smooths out the taste of coffee, making it taste almost like cold-brewed coffee or something. And it’s great for the environment! The filter is washable, so all you have to do is rinse and you’re ready to go for next time!

   Beautiful wood used in this large, quality Costa Rican drip coffee maker. The accompanying coffee “socks” are quality too. I got used to using these to make coffee during my trip to Costa Rica and really enjoy this low tech way of making delicious coffee that I order from Costa Rica. I would recommend it or gift it if I bought another since I am definitely keeping this one.

   I ordered one of these, in the lighter finish. When the unit arrived, it had some construction and finish issues. I loved the product concept, but not so much the execution. I wrote an honest review. Ticoland contacted me immediately, and insisted on sending a no-cost replacement. The replacement is perfectly constructed, with a beautiful finish. I am very grateful for the way that Ticoland stood by its product. I am now convinced that the original unit was an anomaly. The seller corrected the anomaly without my even asking, and without any effort or inconvenience on my part. I enjoy each delicious cup of coffee that I brew with my chorreador, and I love the fact that, when not in use, the chorreador folds flat, so that it can be stored out of the way.

   It is so hard to find these anymore – read the reviews that said the wire rusts too fast: so I didn’t wait for it and just got extras. I do think it is pricey for the simplicity of the product and design – but I knew that since I ordered it.
   It was a gift and the person loved it.

   I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this product—it’s the worst I’ve ever seen. It is unstable from every angle, making it feel unsafe to use. Additionally, the handwritten “handmade in Costa Rica” on the bottom piece is glaringly visible from a distance, which only adds to its overall poor presentation. I would not recommend this product at all.
