   Excellent Hot Coffee 200 degrees drip system. I bought Keurig twice and sent both back because they wouldn’t make coffee over 170-180 degrees. I bought a percolator coffee maker and it to was 180 degrees coffee returned it too. The Zojirushi coffee maker stated on its website site it makes coffee at 200 degrees so I said well here goes another experiment and made the coffeemakers.us.com purchase and the Zojirushi (knocked it out of the park Grand slam) coffee maker did what was advertised the coffee made was 200 degrees verified by a professional temputure gage. Potential customers of a coffee maker this unit makes 200 degree coffee a HUGE DIFFERENCE AS FAR AS QUALITY. Coffee beans in drip makers at 200 degrees extracts the best tasting and quality of coffee beans.Buying coffee can be expensive these days because of the raise of all the coffee houses for take and go coffee and the awareness of coffee customer so why must we settle for anything less then top quality machines. This zojirushi coffee maker makes coffee at 200 degrees and cold coffee too a bonus for people liking cold coffee (ice coffee) it came with a insert for cold coffee and I look forward to using it in the warmer days. Ice coffee is what I have in Vietnam and in Vietnamese restaurants here in the USA. So if you’re in the market for a coffee machine this zojirushi is excellent and the swing door for the filter is not a issue for under the counter kitchens the removable water holder is convenient to add water into just slide it off fill it with the water of your choice and slide it back on the machine. The only thing I would like to see improved on the next models is the LCD window this unit is hard to see because there is no lighting just old fashioned LCD screen that’s not aluminated and small but once programmed to my daily routine it is easy.    I think Zojirushi makes the best coffee maker on the market. I had to replace an old unit that finally stopped working. Initially I purchased (and returned) the Cuisinart with a stainless steel carafe. It was rated number one by a leading consumer magazine. It was less expensive, but at the end of the day the two things that matter most to me in a coffee maker – taste, and how long it can keep coffee hot – brought me back to Zojirushi. You will not find a better machine.

   Not only can you use this device to make coffee, it is also useful as a home humidifier, essential oil diffuser, tamale steamer, etc. If you put 12 cups of water in, expect only 8-9 cups of coffee to be made because the rest of the water is used to provide a nice steam bath for surrounding cabinets and your kitchen. So thankful this company has made a product that provides multiple uses; I’m planning on putting it in a closet soon to create a home sauna!

   There is NO dripping or leaking of any kind (at least on my unit). The pouring is far superior, very targeted and very well controlled out of the thermal pot – which pot DOES keep coffee hot enough for me. I love the removable water tank. I only add water just for the amount of coffee i wish to serve. The unit sucks every drop of water from the tank which keeps it dry and very clean. I still use a paper filter but it seems the wire mesh filter would hold the grounds up. Kind of pricey though for a drip machine. Definitely good quality.

   Love it. Bought this because our Zojirushi to-go mugs keep coffee hot for 10+ hours. This is a great drip coffee pot. I do wish it made the coffee about 4 degrees hotter but as long as you pour yourself a small cup or put into an insulated thermos it’s the perfect temp to sip on. Brews fast and the insulated carafe keeps it hot for hours. Didn’t think we’d like the filter basket but it’s easy to clean and so much better than wasting paper filters! Coffee tastes good, nice brew.

   I totally love the design of this coffee maker. Best overall design that I’ve seen in a coffee maker so far. The pros: It’s easy to fill and easy to clean after use. Ergonomically friendly. Comes with useful accessories. The con: When it comes to the brew, my coffee comes out very weak. I find myself having to use almost twice the amount of coffee ground to achieve my desired strength. I contribute this flaw to the false brew temperature that they advertise. There’s no way this coffee is brewed at 200 degrees fahrenheit. It’s lukewarm at best when completed. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to drink their entire cup of coffee in 30 seconds or less. However, if it was actually brewed at the temperature advertised, it would properly extract the flavor needed to make an excellent cup of coffee. I really wish there was a way to increase the brewing temperature because like I said, I totally love the design. Considering a return. I have until the end of January, but I love the design so much. Did I mention that before? Help me Zojirushi.

    In the past 10-years I’ve had four or five coffee makers. I love the taste of coffee made with a Lecrueset French press, but it’s too hard to cleanup, too labor intensive, and if I wanted a hot cup of coffee after jumping all these hoops, I had to make more biolingvwater to preheat my coffee cup. Using a Chemex maker is a bit easier, but keeping the coffee hot is extremely difficult and even dangerous if I forget to turn the burner off. I liked my Cuisinart automatic coffee maker, but it was hard to clean and the plastic parts seem flimsy. This Zojurishu EC-YGC 120 is fabulous in every way. It’s easy to clean and the coffee tastes delicious every time. What’s most impressive is the coffee is a perfect 200 F, EXACTLY! Considering all its features and the wonderful coffee, it’s a bargin. The BONUS is it is sooooo simple to make ice coffee! Buying this coffee maker again would be a no brainer. As an old man from Maine it was a wise choice!

    I have been using this coffee maker for at least 10 years every day before it finally pooped out. It made the best coffee, always hot and strong. The carafe is totally sealed, you have to push a button to release the coffee. It keeps the coffee hot for hours. It has all the great features like a timer, a clean mode and the ability to remove the carafe before its finished brewing. Being the jerk i am I decided to try a different machine (well known brand). It was 30 bucks cheaper and compared to the zojirushi it wasn’t worth the cheap smelly plastic it was made of! The coffee was luke warm, it smelled of burnt plastic, the carafe had a wide open nozzle and didn’t keep the luke warm coffee it made luke warm. After a few days I sent it back and got the big Z back. Its the exact same coffee maker I purchased 10+ years ago. Why fiddle with perfection?

    Top. Notch. Coffee. Maker ! ! Makes amazing smooth coffee, featuring a timer which really makes our mornings and even a fancy pre-infusion cycle. The shower-head style water drip really gets all the grounds evenly covered and the coffee is hot hot hot when it comes out. The insulated carafe has also really improved the coffee for me as I’ll drink my coffee at times up to an hour after my husband, with this there’s no burnt coffee taste and I have no complaints on temperature. I would recommend taking the carafe out of the dock after brewing so that the point at the top where the coffee drips in seals up. Since the carafe is insulated it can go on any surface after brewing as it stays cool on the outside. We were looking for something that was not only easy to clean but also easy to repair. All of the daily use contact points can be taken out and cleaned and this really improves the taste of the coffee. I like the peace of mind of knowing parts can be replaced. I found this model originally because I was looking for a machine where the water tank could be removed. We had a mr coffee before and cleaning the water tank was a nightmare because everything was built in as 1 piece and the close proximity of the grounds basket to the water tank meant coffee grounds inevitably ended up in the tank. Problem solved with this beautiful machine. We haven’t muted it but its nice to have the option. It does three beeps when its done brewing and it is fairly quiet otherwise. We haven’t tried the iced coffee ratio yet, but we are psyched for Summer, given everything else exceeding our expectations we are confident this will deliver as well. Really glad we didn’t shell out for the moccamaster as this has way more features at a way more affordable price. Thank you Zojirushi!

    It’s just a nice coffee maker. Chances are you are reading this because you already prefer a thermal carafe because you hate the taste of burnt coffee with a hot plate. We have had this machine for a couple of months because we were at wits end with our Mr Coffee, which would frequently overflow. Nothing like waking up to a coffee maker that has overflowed all over your counters and into your kitchen drawers. We have only had this happen once with this coffee maker but it was because I forgot to put the carafe in. Total user error. I was pleasantly surprised at how EVERYTHING disassembles easily with this coffee maker for easy and effective cleaning. And it just feels sturdy – none of the parts are flimsy. Which is good because this is not a cheap drip coffee maker. It does take a while to brew (~15 minutes) and I wish it had a fresh timer like my cheap Mr Coffee did (timer to tell you how old the coffee is) but we purchased a cheap kitchen timer and have it near the maker. It is a little larger than we envisioned so be sure you have enough counter space. And you’ll also want to be sure you have enough space to give it room to breathe as it produces a lot of steam (you don’t want to have it under cabinets when it is brewing). We actually have it sitting on an old cutting board so it’s easier to slide under the cabinet when not in use. All in all, if you’re looking for a solid machine that is super easy to clean and makes good coffee – get this.

    Hands down, the best coffee maker I’ve ever owned. Simple and straight forward, with the easiest brewing delay timer EVER! Press “timer”, press the up or down arrows until you reach your desired time, then press start. It brews a perfect pot. It is simple and has not required a descaling yet, unlike some of our more recent coffee makers that were so prone to scaling that despite descaling every month or so, they still clogged up. Oh, and the carafe keeps coffee hot for hours. No more burnt, gas station coffee in this house. This coffee maker is worth every penny.

    Makes terrific coffee, and it takes around 5 minutes for my normal 8 cups. It was 5 stars until today when the basket valve broke off. The carafe was always handled gently when inserting and removing as it’s obviously a design prone to this very problem. Constantly hitting the valve on the basket, not matter how gently, will lead to the plastic breaking. This break occurred with a month left on the one year warranty. We’ll see how responsive the company reacts to a request for a replacement basket. (Hopefully redesigned due to the very large amount of similar problems posted on these reviews of basket related problems). Update 2/23/18 Classic example of how to take a good customer support experience and make it bitter. I received a response within a couple days from customer support, as follows : Thank you for contacting Zojirushi America. I apologize that you are missing a part from your unit. Zojirushi America Corp. warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original retail purchase. Commercial products have a six month warranty from the date of purchase. In both cases a valid copy of the purchase receipt is required. Non-electric parts are not covered under the warranty. However, a replacement gasket that holds the valve set in place will be issued to you as a one-time courtesy. I checked the Warranty statement on their web site, and it does state that mechanical parts are not covered. So much for a one year warranty. The gasket is not available as a spare part, only the entire basket, for $9.40. Attached is a photo of the gasket – they actually sent two, bravo for that. It appears to cost about 1 cent. So why kill the entire flavor of the good support with the “one-time courtesy” crapola. This phrase is a favorite of many companies, and make a customer feel they’ve been done a huge favor for buying the product. Don’t do that!

    Coffee snob here. Used the SCA website and CR for research. Settled on this one. Very happy with the automatic bloom cycle – no bitterness. The reports about the thermal carafe are true – coffee stays hot for hours. After 2 years of struggling with a Zwilling machine within its fiddly knob and multiple settings to get it started, the one-touch Start is so nice. As is the swing-out brew basket and the removable water tank. If I had one nit pick, it would be that the shape of the carafe requires holding it at a steep angle to get it to pour a 5-cup brew. And yes, a backlit display is needed. Would buy again.

    I was surprised that the pot is so huge. It is to accommodate a center ice container for iced coffee. The pot makes really good hot coffee but creates a tremendous amount of steam. After using for several months it isn’t using the last two cups water. This pot has never had unfiltered water used in it. It is now making only four cups of coffee. We cancel and start over several times to finish the pot! Ugh! It is frustrating. I ordered Zojirushi cleaner only to realize what I ordered wasn’t for plastic, it was made only for their water heating pot. Update: as with most things that use water, vinegar has to be run through the process about once a month. The coffee pot resumes making a complete pot of coffee. We have had occasional messes when the strainer basket gets grounds outside of the paper filter. At that time the coffee will spill all over the floor. The pot must be sitting correctly for coffee to go inside the pot. Well we have been using this pot for two years. I accidentally dropped the water tank. The corner cracked off and would drip as I carried it across the kitchen. Today it was leaking into the bottom. The whole bottom was cracked and leaking. Zorushi.com sells parts! This part was $22.80 but expedited shipping would have been $27!

    It has been almost two years since we purchased this product. We use this coffee maker everyday. We always pre-warm the thermal carafe while we are preparing our coffee. The coffee stays hot for at least two hours this way. I make the coffee around 4am and my husband drinks it (still hot) around 7am. The one thing we did was start using Braun Coffee filters, they are taller than the the others, so we can use a fine grind and not worry about it spilling over in the basket. I was also a little concerned about removing the water bin everyday, so I just fill it in place ( I do have to remove the bin every once in a while if water gets under it, so that I can dry it).

    Flavor is great and water dispenser is easily removable because it’s on the side, not the back. Carafe keeps coffee hot for hours because of the push button pour system that doesn’t let heat escape.     Stainless steel carafes never keep the coffee as hot as the glass ones, but this one does a good job. I can live with this. And that’s high praise.     We’ve only had this coffee maker a short time. So far it’s great. Makes a very hot strong cup of coffee. We have had to adjust down the amount of coffee used from the scoop that comes with it. But once you find the strength you like it’s great. It’s sturdy and nice looking. We also like the water container being removable. It makes it so easy to fill. Also the coffee filter opens to the front is nice. I wanted these features so I could keep the maker in a cabinet but it’s so nice looking I’m going to keep it on my counter. I haven’t tried the ice coffee feature but I’m sure it’ll be fine too.

    The welded attachment point of the bottom of the carafe handle is very weak. I noticed it wiggling while cleaning the first time. After 8 months it finally broke completely. I called Zojirushi directly and they said the only part of the carafe that is covered under warranty is the thermal insulation. The thermal carafe is the only advantage this maker has over much cheaper makers. Now that I know it’s trash, I regret buying it.

    I really wanted to like this coffee maker, mostly because I own a Zojirushi Bread maker and it is a stellar appliance. So, I figured brand quality, right? Despite reading some dicey reviews regarding the brewed coffee being “too weak”. We aren’t fans of super strong coffee. In fact, we had used just 6-8 grams per cup with our last three Bona Vita coffee makers. We were excited to use the (very pretty) Zojirushi and followed instructions to the letter, including the enclosed scoop. Next morning (we set the timer, a nice touch) poured the coffee and—ugh—it was far too weak. I repeated the process four times (requiring 48 minutes of hankering for coffee), increasing to nearly double the recommended measure of coffee. And it was still awful. Coffee and time sadly wasted. We gave up, figuring it wouldn’t be cost effective to double our coffee budget to accommodate this new pot. I returned it and purchased our 4th Bona Vita.

    My original Zojirushi Coffee Maker worked perfectly for 20yrs, sadly like all good things, it came to the end. Pricing other brands, with similar functions this was approx <$20 more and I felt with the history of my original I was happy with that. It arrived next day (thankfully cuz I don’t function without coffee) and it was better than pictured. Made a perfect pot of coffee, kept it hot all day (even warm the next morning). The instructions said to unplug when not in use, which annoyed me thinking I would have to reset the clock daily, however to my surprise, the clock auto sets to the local time. So happy to have my new Zojirushi coffee maker!

    I liked the removable water container and that the basket swing out for easy fill. Everything else is wrong with this… and I didn’t just have a defective machine. Both machines had standing water in the brew baskets after the machine beeped that it was done brewing. (See picture). Grounds were in the coffee every time and they overflowed out of the filter.     My parents have this coffee maker at both their home and their vacation home. I was always amazed at how hot the coffee stayed in the carafe throughout the day, even 8 hours later. When my Keurig broke after 4 years of using it, I decided to splurge and purchase the Zojirushi. Sadly, the carafe I received does not even keep the coffee hot for a few hours after brewing. Bit of a disappointment and largely, just not worth the steep price in my opinion. Wishing I would have opted for the Keurig K-Duo.

    My cuisinart of 10 years died and I wanted an upgrade at my home coffee since I am using it more in the past 2 years. To start I was only interested in SCA machines and I wanted something easier than a Manila pour over that had a similar taste. I looked at super high end machines but couldn’t justify the $300+ price tags. I really liked the higher end ninja, but in the end I went with the Zojirushi because it was simpler (unlike ninja that did everything) and I hoped that meant less to break. I’ve had it two weeks now (so 14 pots). What I can say is that it is big. Bigger than my previous machine. Having the water bin be detachable is a huge plus. Much easier to fill. It is super simple to use with just a few buttons. The coffee is amazing. Super smooth and great tasting even at the end of the pot. In the end that’s what matters the most. I followed the directions to the letter for my first few pots. Oddly I think their recommendation for the amount of grounds is too much. I never thought I would say the coffee is too strong, but I went down to 10 scoops and it’s fantastic. I have not used the iced coffee attachment. I’m just not that into iced coffee.

    Our beloved Zorirushi coffeemaker stopped working after almost 12 years. Naturally, we decided to replace with another Zorirushi. very disappointed that the new one is so much larger than our current one (both are 10 cup). I don’t understand why it has to be so bulky, it’s not like it has a coffee grinder built in, or some feature like that. Have only used it for a several days. It does make good coffee so far. Overall happy with it, though can’t get over its bulkiness.

    THREE YEAR UPDATE March 31, 2022 Three years in we have learned to live with and love this coffee maker. It is true that other makers made coffee hot enough that the carafe could keep it for longer. Our new normal became warming our creamer in the microwave for 20 seconds or so so that it doesn’t cool off the coffee. We didn’t have to do this with other makers, but we also replaced those other makers nearly annually! This one is still kicking 3 years in like it never skipped a beat. A feature I learned to use when I am in a hurry is the fast brew. If you are pressed for time it will make the coffee in like 3/4 of the time it usually takes. Nice option. The timer works great although we seldom use it also. Overall I am very pleased. This pot was more expensive than the ones we usually buy but the fact it has lasted 3 years now easily makes it worth every penny. I was pretty hard on this maker in my first review. Reading it again I stand behind every word, but once I overcame the primary challenge of cold creamer cooling down the coffee I have to say that I love this coffee maker. I can not pronounce its name, but I love it! The following is our March 2019 review: I want to like this coffee pot. In every way but one it is exactly what we are looking for, but that one drawback is crucial for a coffee lover. The coffee just isn’t hot enough. We have used thermal carafe coffee makers exclusively for at least 15 years and each has had its own set of challenges. Most just don’t keep the coffee hot enough, but they at least make hot coffee. I think this one just doesn’t make coffee hot enough to start with. If you don’t take cold creamer from the refrigerator then you might be okay. We understand that the carafe has to be filled with hot water and emptied before brewing so the cool carafe is not cooling the coffee as it is made and we have done this with all of our thermal carafe coffee makers. Some coffee makers will make hot coffee but the carafe is poorly made and cools too quickly. It is a little hard to judge this carafe’s ability to keep coffee hot since it seems the coffee might not be hot enough to begin with.

    I have owned this coffee maker for a year now and I absolutely love it. I used a french press at home for years but I was ready for something more consistent and less work. The zojirushi can’t make a cup of coffee better than the PERFECT cup out of a french press or pour over, but it makes really good coffee every time. The coffee comes out around 158 degrees. I took a temperature measurement for my second cup an hour after brewing and it was still approximately 149 degrees. I haven’t had any issues with the display lights failing. To clean, the instructions tell you how to remove the rubber seals from the lid and how to pull the central rod out that opens and seals the lid. I wish the lid could be further disassembled, but you can clean it by pouring water through or with a pipe cleaner. I use the proposed amounts of coffee grounds from the scoop that comes with it. I would highly recommend this coffee maker, I am considering spending the extra money to get a second one to replace my work coffee machine.

    We have a small Kitchenette with cabinets above, so it was IMPERATIVE that we get a coffee pot where the water well can pull out and be filled elsewhere. This coffee maker is easy to fill and makes great coffee. Love the filter within a filter, so we don’t use paper filters at all!

    This pot, while it makes good, hot coffee, Leaks. I can’t be sure we’re getting the full 10 cups because it leaks from the bottom. This isn’t a user error or even leaking from the carafe or the reservoir, if you lift it up, there’s a visible leak from the bottom of the machine. I don’t get it. I have to set it on a towel to soak up the water as it brews, as you can see in the picture. The back half of that towel is soaked. It’s weird. Let me also say that my pot is the EC-YSC100, which I couldn’t find, so maybe it’s been replaced with a better pot…? Anyone can confirm this?
