There is not detectable difference between the hand blown glass vs classic. The only difference seems to the box. Considering it’s double the price $120 vs $50. Why would they make no detectable difference in product. Seems like poor design. The cup size itself is excellent & I plan to re order the classic version because of the zero difference in glass thickness.

Perfect size for one person who wants 2 full size cups of coffee such as a work day morning to go. Makes up to 15-16 oz. Works best with the Chemex recommended size filters, as the coffee is forced into more of a narrow funnel which I think enhances the brew.

We bought a thinnner, machine-made coffee maker that broke — we are much happier with this one!

I always want a Chemex. I like hand made so I decided to go for hand blown than the classic version without physically knowing the differences. I also want a petite one for single person and also I am short of space. The thick glass feels much safer to handle and clean. It is not easy to find 3-cup Chemex paper filters, all sold out… While waiting for the back. order. I found a cloth filer that is just the right size for 3-cup Chemex on coffeemakers.us.com so this is what I use for now. A big issue of pour-over for me is the much lower coffee temperature . I place Chemex on a cast iron plate with very low flame on the stove during pour over process (thanks to the thick glass that I feel comfortable to do so even just for a few minutes) . The result is satisfying .
The packaging (from coffeemakers.us.com) is the worst I ever had. The box came with Chemex was crushed which seemed to be returned several times / being neglected for a long time ! Because the Chemex itself looked fine so I decided to keep it. There was no packing cushion either for the glass product in the big box. Thus I gave 4 stars.

I love coffee (have been drinking it since age 13) and this little gem makes THE best cup I have ever had, bar none. I got the heavier blown glass model in the smallest size since I live alone and have no need for 8 cups of coffee at a time. Yeah, it takes longer to do than to throw a K-cup in a Keurig or to dump some crappy already ground Folgers in a Mr. Coffee but if you are into really good coffee, grind your own fresh right before brewing, and like the finer things then this is for you. I use coffee from a local roaster so the beans are really fresh to help insure the best cup. All in all, totally worth it to me. Reminds me of the coffee I had when visiting Europe.

It does not pour out, rather runs down the side to the bottom, creating a mess and a challenge. It will pour correctly if you pour it mostly at one time and quick. I was really surprised that this item can not be returned. Major disappointment. I was pretty excited when I first saw it and read a few of the reviews. Clearly, I should have read the bad as well as the good. I’ve never made a purchase on coffeemakers.us.com that could not be returned – lesson learned the hard way!

I’m really pleased with this coffee maker. It’s attractive, simple, and doesn’t take up space on my countertop. I’m a regular tea drinker so I already have an electric teapot which I use regularly. Chemex makes coffee just as quick and easy as brewing a cup of tea. And there’s no nasty filter and pot to clean afterwards. Just remove and toss the paper filter and rinse the carafe out with water. Viola! The best tasting coffee I’ve had in years. Well worth the money.

The half-moon filter that supposedly pairs with this coffeemaker sits so far down into the pot that half of it would be covered by coffee if you try to brew the full 426 ml. I’m not sure if this is intended but it seems like bad design.
I can’t tell if the filter is badly designed, or the 3-cup Chemex.
