I wasn’t aware of this beforehand but apparently this is how they made coffee most places between the 1830’s and the early 1900’s. They’re apparently still popular in some parts of the world and not something trendy you might find in a coffee aficionado kitchen. This siphon coffee maker is a fancy addition to this coffee aficionado’s setup. It seems very well built and looks impressive. Everything from the glass to the wooden handle looks nice.
How’s the coffee? The coffee quality is top-notch, I was worried at first that this science experiment was going to go wrong especially when you need to work out your own burner fuel but once you get it going that trepidation goes away.
There is a little bit of learning curve but is rewarding once you get the heat and timing down right. As for cleaning, the kit includes 10 reusable cloth filters and cleans easily since the oils don’t stick to the glass.
If you’re a coffee enthusiast and you’re looking for a good starter set to see if this is something you’re going to enjoy, then you can’t go wrong here.

No real complaints other than the burner. Just get yourself a butane one and don’t look back. If you haven’t used one of these before, Youtube it and see the process. This isn’t an everyday coffee maker (for me at least). It’s cool to pull out to show off to friends or if you feel like haven’t the punchy coffee this provides. Of course, the worst part is the cleanup, everything is glass and in a tight space but you know this getting into to this type of coffee maker. Overall super happy with the product.

I am using this title knowing that I got through quite a bit of fuss preparing my morning Americano’s. Everything from weighing to grinding then using every form of espresso tool to make sure the puck is evenly distributed and perfectly flat.
I do everything above because it produces a very flavorful espresso for my Americano.
That being said, this device is very fussy in a similar way and if the cup of coffee produced a equally tasty cup of coffee then it would be worth the time. The cup of coffee is fine, but not what what I was hoping for. I know I can spend the time to dial in the grind size, water temperature, brew time and all of the other variables, but I already have something that I have dialed in all of those variables for.

There are no instructions for how to assemble the product. In particular, there were no instructions for how to use the heating element, how to replace the filter or clean the coffee pots. You can’t even find videos on YouTube for this product specifically.

Almost everyone in our family drinks coffee, so I was really excited to try this Japanese brewing system. What we received is the science experiment you can see in the picture above. There were no provided directions whatsoever. So, it was left for us to figure out how to assemble this unit. We did so based on the picture provided in the listing. Once we had it assembled, we were able to try it out. It actually does make a pretty good cup of coffee, though the process is a bit involved.
I would say that this is good for people who are very particular about their coffee and like to be able to experiment with the process. If you are just looking for a cup of coffee in the morning, then this system is definitely not for you.
All in all, this is a decent buy. It would be a much better value if detailed instructions, or at least a link to a YouTube video providing detailed instructions were provided.
