   I’ve had this coffee maker for years, love the thermal carafe that doesn’t keep cooking your coffee like the glass carafes. Unfortunately the last one only lasted 3 years because of a design flaw that has been fixed! I had the DCC-1150 Series and I can’t believe how many improvements there have been in this newer model. Check out the pics – the display is a million times easier to read with the blue backlight, the brew/clock/etc. settings are bigger and easier to read, the fill gauge on the side has plenty of overflow room, and even the internal spray is bigger to sprinkle hot water on ALL the grounds, not just drench those in the middle so the water leaches to the rest. The fill gauge on the older model didn’t have a lot of overflow room, and hey, who doesn’t pour a little too much water in the reservoir?! It dripped inside and unbeknownst to me, was slowly but surely rusting the plate on the very bottom and making a mess on the countertop. That seems to be fixed with the new design, but I still won’t chance it. And the blue backlight on the timer, AWESOME! It was so difficult to read the timer on the old version, I just didn’t do it. haha I didn’t even have the time set correctly! Anyway, highly recommend!

   Have been a Cuisinart fan for many years. Love white coffee maker, looks great on my counter. Hate that you can’t pull off center of lid on crafe to clean stain. Called to get new lid, $9.00. Cuisinart has been in this business long enough to know white stains and customers will want to clean lid of craft. Or they might consider using higher quality plastics that doesn’t stain. Disapointed in custimer support, next one will not be Cuisinart.

    I was looking for a white Cuisinart coffee maker to match my stove and refrigerator. This one fits the bill. Makes great coffee just like my older model did which was 8 years old. It still worked but I broke the carafe and decided to buy a new one. Makes great hot coffee and without a lot of noise.

    Bought Dec 2022, writing this Dec 2023. Lasted less than one year. I have seen water leaked under it for some time and decided to find where it was coming from. Took the bottom off, which was rusty enough to be falling apart. The rubber tubes were fine. I propped it up on books with a mirror underneath and ran it showing leak from a pin hole in the metal heating tube. This is nothing I can repair. This is very disappointing for what I thought was a premium brand.

    The plastic basket that holds the filter is difficult to get into it’s right place. If you don’t take great care to get it to click into place then in the morning the coffee maker will be a mess and a bunch of coffee will be trapped in the filter. Might just be me or maybe there’s some trick I don’t know about but it’s very frustrating that it happens a lot. Also as others have mentioned it is difficult to pour the water from the carafe into the reservoir. Would not recommend this coffee machine to someone at this price point.

    I purchased this Cuisinart coffee maker because I’ve had two of them before and they were great. The thing I like the best is that the carafe is aluminum and insulated to keep your coffee hot and fresh for several hours. I had never purchased an open box product before, so I gave it a try. I could see no flaws in the entire product. And it works perfectly! Aside from that, Cuisinart a products have always been great. This coffee maker makes delicious coffee, and I think the cone filter is what makes the difference in the taste. So many other coffee makers are using the basket filters. I don’t believe they make the best tasting drip coffee. I also like the fact that you can set a timer in the evening and your coffee will be made for you when you wake up! I would recommend heating up the carafe during the winter so the coffee stays warmer in the carafe. I would not hesitate to buy an open box product again, especially anything made by Cuisinart!

    It makes a very good cup of coffee. Design wise it’s complex- the basket has to be set just right, there is a spring on the bottom that I see as easily broken, but when it does it will still function. Carafe lid is fussy to properly place to brew and carafe is hard to clean with a small opening and sharp curve at the top. It pours well with the exception you have to tip it upside down for the last drop. Filling the reservoir involves a precise pour. Still worth purchasing it because it brews great coffee.

    I’ve always had Cuisinart coffee makers with a glass carafe and was always pleased. This time I thought I’d try the thermal one. My issues with the carafe will especially bother older people who may not have the upper arm strength or arthritis: 1) there is no way too tell how much coffee is in the carafe. 2) The carafe is suprisingly heavy- even when empty- which makes it not easy to clean or carry or pour. It wouldn’t work at all for my parents who are in their early 80s. The lid to the carafe requires you turn it to unlock and then when replacing it, same thing. This is a pain in the butt. Basically, I wouldn’t buy this again. I’d go back to the glass carafe.

    I hate writing a bad review but in this case I feel I must. I don’t want others to have the same experience I have had with this coffee maker. We had a Cuisinart DTC-975BKN Programmable Automatic Brew-and-Serve 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker for two years and we loved it. Unfortunately one day it just quit working. When I tried to buy a replacement I found that it was now “unavailable”. While the Cuisinart DCC-1170BK has less capacity it still appeared to be an acceptable replacement. I was wrong in that assumption. The electronics on this model are easier to use and the display is MUCH brighter. If you can get it out of the pot it also makes a good cup of coffee. That is all the good I can say about this model. Filling this thing with water is the first challenge. The area you have available to add water to the maker is a small triangular spot in the back right side. It sits just under the sprayer lid and next to the cone you place the coffee into. It is a hard target to hit without getting something wet that you don’t want wet. If you fill the pot with water and then attempt to pour that into the coffee maker you will find that you can only empty about 2/3 of the pot. The inside if the pot has a shoulder that allows the lid to be smaller. This prevents you from emptying the pot unless you almost completely invert it. You can’t do that because the sprayer lid is in the way. So, to fill it, you add as much water as you can then go back from the pot and refill it again. Now you can continue to add water to the fill line. After that you must dump the remaining half-pot of water in the sink. It is also VERY easy to overfill the maker’s tank because it sits in front of the fill gauge (they could have put it on the other side but they didn’t). You can’t see it while filling because the pot is in the way. The overflow hole on the back sits just above the Full marker on the gauge. There is VERY little room for error even though you can’t watch the gauge as you are filling because of its location. If you don’t stop in time it will overflow onto your counter. You also have to be very careful when moving the coffee maker once it is full of water or you will again get your counter wet because of this. That same issue with the pot design causes it to make a coffee mess when you try to fill a cup. To get the last of the coffee out of the pot it has to be inverted until it is almost upside down. At that point it is pouring coffee everywhere but in the cup. I’m VERY disappointed with Cuisinart releasing something with this many design flaws. They have done so much better in the past.

    I searched everywhere for a coffee pot that does not use black plastic. I thought this was it. But it’s not. It uses a black basket. So if you buy this to avoid making your coffee in recycled e-waste (look it up) you will need to also buy a replacement basket.
